Great food, well priced, in a high end environment. The interior is really high quality, atmospheric and comfortable. The waiting staff are really helpful and the service was incredibly quick. The prices are very competitive and in my opinion well worth the money.

Four of us went mid week for a curry and everything was spot on, poppadoms with chutney to start, then a platter for 4 which was really tasty, there was 3 curries which the others all enjoyed and i had the mixed grill with salad and a naan which was full of meat and came out of the kitchen in a cloud of smoke, all the meat was cooked well, we washed it all down with 4 pints. Used the toilet when we were there and the toilets would not have looked out of place in a 5 star hotel, you would think no one had ever used them. The staff were soooo polite and helpful as well, till the next time.

First time trying Indian food, and visiting Vanila Spice in Newport. The experience I had is just amazing. Food is brilliant, staff very polite and professional. Prices are very adorable for the size the actual meals, can’t compete to be honest. Will definitely come back!

I was really excited to come to this restaurant as I am new to the area and saw some outstanding reviews. Walking into the restaurant was great and the ambiance is incredible. However, the look of the restaurant didn’t match the service of the staff. Out of 10 staff, none of them smiled, they didn’t even ask how our food was and even when taking our plates I was just waiting for someone to ask and they didn’t. Even when the payment was taken, there were no smiles. The staff just hoovered around the bar. Honestly a smile or even being asked goes long way. If it wasn’t for the food and ambiance then I wouldn’t consider going back a second time, however, this might have been a one off.

Prices gone up, quality gone down. Waited 40 mins in an almost empty restaurant for a takeaway. Over 17 quid for a half of lager, a naan bread and a main dish. It was supposed to be chicken breast stuffed with kena mince, Instead it was srtips of overcooked, tough chicken in a greasy mince amalgamation. Went in the bin after 1 mouthful..tasted awful, sour.

Excellent meal, service was so good. Definitely will return. 5* from us!

This is a wonderful Indian Restaurant in Newport. The server prepared our meal at our table and it was outstanding, Great atmosphere with a statue of a cow inside. It is obvious that they take great pride in their food and the restaurant. The menu is quite extensive and our experience was outstanding. It was recommended by the concierge at The Celtic Manor Resort and it was spot on! They had Roar craft beer as well which added to the meal excellence. Wonderful experience!

There were 22 of us...the food and service was amazing...my only gripe was, the popodums and pickles on the table weren't complimentary like to all thought, we were charged for them ....

Had a party of nine last night and although the restaurant was extremely busy we were allocsted our own waiter who was excellent took ordeers promptly. Food was of the higher standard as usual. Cannot praise staff highly enough

Lovely setting, meals hot, correct taste and superb, waiters were excellent. Female waiter took coats, restaurant very busy but she knew exactly which coats belonged to our group. Everything spotless. Recommend them.

Great feed and incredible service: Shoboraj turned us down for wearing work gear after a hard days graft so got recommended to head over to Vanilla Spice and damn were we happy. Food incredible and they opened there doors to us with open arms regardless of wearing work clothes….. would love to go again and recommend to anyone in Newport.

Came here at 10 pm on a Friday, quite a cool welcome. I’m not sure if it was because the only other table that was taken was nearly done. Anyway, after being shown to our table, the service was good and the food really was amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We are in Newport for a little break and looked online for a good Indian restaurant, we found Vanilla Spice...and we were glad we did... It was a Saturday night, it was fairly busy, but everything was awesome....the staff were great, attentive but not in your face, the decor and atmosphere was lovely....AND the food was absolutely amazing....so full of flavour, and very fairly priced. We are in Newport for a little break and looked online for a good Indian restaurant, we found Vanilla Spice...and we were glad we did... It was a Saturday night, it was fairly busy, but everything was awesome....the staff were great, attentive but not in your face, the decor and atmosphere was lovely....AND the food was absolutely amazing....so full of flavour, and very fairly priced. Absolutely 💯 % as always Best food always so fresh hot & made with perfection staff always warm & welcoming & the decor is absolutely perfect my favourite colours black /gold so clean & spotless Always like to try something new & the lamb off the specials menu was so good Staff always happy to box up any leftovers for you to take home by far the best indian restaurant in town

Ordered a Rogan Josh and I might as well of had a tin of tomatoes with chicken, absolutely no spice and I had half a tin of tomatoes in my curry. I did ring to let them know as maybe it was a new cheif and they explained, the mix buna in with it and more tomatoes so may not have been mixed correctly. Worst curry I've ever had

We had a takeaway delivered to our campsite at Tredegar House and boy what a terrific meal. Good clean looking food, no sloppy grease on top of the cartons, simply gorgeous, in fact nice enough for us to have 2 meals from there, first night we collected. Keep up the great cooking, you're one of the best the UK has to offer.

Ordered a meal,my husband picked it up beautiful curry, service excellent, couldn't fault anything.

Always visited Vanilla Spice as a family including when my daughter was 2/3 and Service and food has always been good. However, phoning this evening to make a reservation for 5.30 in the booth with 3 adults and one child aged 4 (on the basis we have normally left by 6.30 ish) to be told we can’t guarantee that as it depends on booking that come in but as we are coming in early it’s highly likely. However, I was booking then and they are free so clearly they don’t want children in those booths but we have been here a number of times with no issues. Booths are for 4 people and we are 4 people eating. Extremely disappointed at that response and won’t be looking to book here again. Clearly not for families anymore so don’t waste your money!! Will make sure we inform all the people we have recommended here!!

Very nice experience, naan is reccomended. The saag paneer is a bit bland but other than that it's amazing.

Me and my Bredrin visited vanilla ice ice baby yesterday! Wow what a pleasant find,first time and certainly not last.upon entering the restaurant your taken back by the plush deco.The service was impeccable and very upto date with a black glove service.The food well what can I say,if your a curry connoisseur this place is well up there in the top 3.Owners are very humble and hands on, Keep doing what your doing gents its 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from us!

Great food and good value too. Staff are friendly and attentive. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Have visited twice on Monday/Tuesday evenings and restaurant has been very quiet on both occasions. Plenty of parking and there is a rapid EV charging station just down the road near McDonalds. Standard toilet was out of action but could use disabled toilet, which was fine. Can definitely recommend.

Food was OK, pasanda was more like a korma. Prices were trainable though

We had a lovely Waitress who looked after us. She was friendly and polite. Our dinner was tasty and we all enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean.

Vanilla Spice is an Indian restaurant. One of the best for quality of food. The care taken to flavour the dishes is fantastic. It is a nice place to take like-minded friends who enjoy trying different varieties of Indian food.

Food hits the spot somewhere you would actually want to sit and relax for a nice meal. Seating and overall aesthetics stunning.

Very nice restaurant. Pleasant staff and the food is just that bit different from the run of the mill,although there is still the traditional fare as well.

Food was really nice,but service was slow and it wasn't overly busy. Even though there were plenty of staff there We had to keep asking for things a few times.

Traditional menu, modern looks. Huge menu but completely lacks vegan dishes or at least they are not marked. Food was okay, wish the tastes were as amazing as the presentation. Especially the veggie dishes. Friendly, attentive staff, little bit pushy on the drinks. Pricey for portion size but hey it's 2023. Can see myself returning mainly because Newport hugely lacks in curry department and there isn't much else to try, correct me if I'm wrong.

Great Indian food. The staff were kind enough to bring out a birthday cake we had provided and gave us plates and a knife to use too. We go back every year for the same friend's birthday.

I've not a big appetite and portion sizes very small. Could have been excellent.

Seems to be too much focus on take away. Waited a long time for food and when it came it wasn't very hot. Portions are very small for prices. Used to love this place but now not so good and quite poor value for money.

We were a group of four, warmly greeted and seated and provided with menus and drinks promptly. The venue is spacious and comfortable and nicely warm on what was a very chilly evening. We placed our order with our waiter tapping at a machine which meant there was little human interaction and the process was perfunctory and a little clunky. Poppadoms arrived, 2 each, with a chutney tray of insufficient quantity for the four of us. We should have asked for more. Starters arrived a little prematurely, but were fine - as were our main courses. My dhansak was probably the weakest item, lacking in flavour. We finished with coffees - no choice, just black with milk and no decaff available. For a restaurant of this standing, an investment in a decent machine would not be wasted.

We dinned there last night for my birthday. There were 9 of us. They bought starters out for everyone but I. My mother in law prawn cocktail came 15 mins later and then they hadn't done her mains either. Waitres very nice . I usually always recomend this place but you let me down last night .

We’ve been numerous times, the food was fantastic every time we’ve been, the chicken Karahi is to die for! Great service too.

I was really hoping the quality of the food would match the excellent hospitality on show this Sunday evening, but sadly it was one of the worst Indian meals we've ever had. The main problem was the disgustingly excessive amount of oil in every dish. We removed about 4 tablespoons of oil from the main courses but they were still overpowered by the sickly taste of oil. My dhansak dish had no distinguishable taste or heat and was completely underwhelming. Needless to say, this food sat heavily in the stomach for several hours. The worst part was the waiter admitting that they usually pour out the excessive oil before serving but the chef forgot. Why not just use less oil to start with? We were also promised a reduction in the bill but that didn't happen. Instead we left, never to return. It's a real shame as the staff were some of the friendliest we've come across.

Visited Wales from London and was looking for an Indian restaurant for dinner with our 2 young girls. We were recommended Vanilla Spice by a friend and we were very pleased with our experience. Great value for money too! Lovely food, service and decor. The staff were very helpful and attended to our needs - one of the owners Naz in particular. We had our toddler with us and nothing was too much trouble - heated milk for our daughter to the perfect temperature making her settled and ready to fall asleep for the journey back! Bliss :) Thank you!

We waited an hour and a half before our food was provided to us, with only a small number of other tables being served at the same time. We had to ask for our food to be given to us. When it did arrive the food was underwhelming, bland and had very little spice to the foods that were supposed to be spicy. For what it was, and the service the meal was beyond expensive. Very disappointing.

Normally I would say absolutely excellent I ordered pathia which was excellent but the dupiaza was bland so much so that I thought they had made a mistake but 99% of the time the food is to be highly recommended

Visited the vanilla spice with a few friends after driving past it and thinking what a beautiful restaurant it was. If only the service and food was as good as it looked. Disappointed because my hopes were very high. Oh well you win some and...

Went last evening and had a superb meal, everything fresh,hot and tasty. Staff brilliant and had a lovely warm welcome by Naz who was a pleasure. Will be back soon
