Fabulous food and super service. We had the Balti Walla Set menu meal and couldn’t fault it. The owner came and spoke to us after we had finished. He is a lovely man

We are all golfers who come here every year for our Xmas curry and every year The Taste of Asia never lets us down. First of all the service is first class as is the food from the starters right through to main meal. This year we ordered 14 different meals but they still managed to get everyone’s meal out together absolutely fresh. Can’t fault it!! We will be back next year without doubt.Excellent 👏👏

Popped in for some poppadoms and oinion bajhis. Poppadoms Under cooked not good.overpriced onion bajhis I got 2 lots they come in 4 but only one in 6 of them in size. Was sold chutney tray was not too bad but not good quality come to nearly £20 wouldn't use again.

The food was very tasty, luckily for me not too spicy. The service was very courteous and friendly. The ambience was unfortunately a bit noisy, but nicely decorated.

Absolutely delicious food, friendly staff and an overall great experience. I loved that the staff could recommend dishes too that we really liked. The menu offers all the usual dishes you'd expect but also has some excellent chef's specials if you're feeling like something different. You do have to BYOB if you want an alcoholic drink but this was fine and they don't charge corkage. There are also some nice looking mocktails on the drinks menu. Well worth visiting!

Great rhogan josh & naan, but poor quality chutneys/pickles for the poppadoms.

First of all the look of the place is really exquisite, old wood panelling mixed with a modern flare really creates something unique and special. The service is very friendly and helpful, they told me that they had been around for 30 years and are one of the only businesses left that made it through COVID in that little street. That filled me with confidence, I got take away chicken bhuna and taka dhal and they threw in some poppadoms. I ate these on the way home as it was a 20 minute walk to where I'm staying unfortunately these were overcooked and not great and I started to worry about the quality of my meal. I'm not joking that it was such a good tasting curry I can forgive the poppadoms this time and still give the food 5 stars. Rich aromas and flavours with a decent kick and packed out with chicken, I will have the dhal for lunch today. Will I go again probably tonight after work lol

The best food in wales. Environment is one of a kind. Not access use of spices and oil. Taste 10/10 Staff 10/10 I highly recommend to visit “Taste of Asia” at least once a week with your family 😍😋

Came to visit Taste of Asia after a while and I am over the moon with the service & quality of the food. It’s always immaculate in the restaurant one of the best looking interior very modern and cozy.

Just the sort of Indian I was looking for as I couldn’t find a traditional one in Cardiff centre. So I travelled by train to Newport and found this restaurant near the station. Ideal, excellent in all respects. It’s on my map now and so I’ll return next time I’m in the area. “Ten out of Ten”!

Staying in hotel and dropped in by chance. First class food and service, was early evening and quiet but still a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend if you live in the area or like me just passing by.

The food is absolutely stunning, we had a set meal for 2 and there was so much food. Everything was so tasty. The service is first class and can't be faulted. We wish we lived closer so we could come again . Please give this restaurant a try , you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely stunning food. Very helpful and friendly staff. We asked for a recommendation as it all looked so nice and we were directed to the house special, Taka-Taka Tin. We were not disappointed, it was beautiful and so tasty with lots of different flavours. We will definitely be trying here again.

Got takeaway from here last time in Newport. Food was excellent

We were the only diners on a Saturday evening, which was no problem. Service excellent, the chef came out to speak with us, food was delicious, tender beef and chicken, spiced just right, presented well. Lots of people calling in for take aways and lots going out fir delivery.

The food was incredible and really reasonably priced. The staff were super friendly and lovely. The chef even came out to speak to us!

Excellent quality food, I had the chicken tikka jalfrezi, the curry sauce had a deep smoky flavour and was spiced perfectly, with just the right amount of heat. I was impressed with the keema naan, the bread was almost crisp but not overdone. Lots of vegan options on the menu which is nice to see, Indian food works very well with vegan and vegetarian dishes so nice to see the restaurant embracing that. I have eaten out in several local Indian restaurants in Newport in recent months including Lahore, Shoboraj, Three Mughals, Hatti but this was the best. Nice ambience in the restaurant as well, the interior decor is simple but classy and stylish. This just became my new ‘go to’ Indian restaurant and takeaway.

Lovely meal here this evening. Poppadoms and chutneys Onion bhaji starter Followed by the special taka taka tin, which was lovely, went for chicken and mushrooms.

Take your own bottle if you want alcohol as no licence, which I haven't seen in a restaurant before, but otherwise , the food was amazing and staff were lovely.

Just had a family meal here absolutely amazing food full of flavour! My partner had the beef and it was honestly cooked to perfection. The staff couldn’t do enough for us all, very friendly and welcoming we will definitely be back :)

A great evening out with family . We look my little 4 year old girl with us and she was treated like royalty. They gave her lollies & also a feee cheese cake . Highly highly recommend, friendly staff and great atmosphere .

I always have a beef Vindaloo which is always done to perfection not only that it's an open planned kitchen so you can see your food being cooked, you even see the chef who takes pride in the food. My family and I have come to dinner tonight and were greeted by 2 gentlemen with smiles on their faces. Throughout our meal we were comfortable and couldn’t be happier with the service we had received. A superb authentic freshly cooked curry with amazing starters, popodums and a peshwari naan bread. A great friendly welcome and excellent service. Well worth a revisit very soon!

Food was excellent and staff were very hospitable

I had a bit of a wait for my train at Newport station so went to find something to eat. Looking on Google maps, Taste of Asia was only a five minute walk away and slightly out of the town centre but was well worth a visit! I told them I had a train to catch and they got the food out to me in good time which was very good of them. I went for onion bhaji which were lovely, crisp, not at all oily and with a nice drawing and a fresh side salad . Lamb Dansak is my go to but they only served chicken or beef so went for the latter which was very good. It was to the spicier end of the Dansak scale but manageable and full of flavour. They don’t have a license so you would need to take your own beer etc. they die red my to a local convenience store and happily opened the bottle and provided a glass. The kitchen is open to the restaurant which is always good to see the chef at work, the staff were friendly and the look of the restaurant is very nice, contemporary but with some classic touches with the wood paneling. It was quite early when I went so was quite empty but there was a regular flow of take aways being collected which is always a good sign I think. Overall, The Taste of Asia was a very happy find and would happily go again next time I’m in the area!

First, authentic Indian cuisine is my absolute most favorite food! Wherever I go in the world I seek it out. Having partially grown up in Wales and visiting it again now, I truly miss the Indian restaurants that were here 20-30+ years ago. Those were the restaurants where you had fresh chicken and lamb, sauces where you could taste and see whole spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, cumin, green chilis, cloves and cardamoms. This restaurant has none of that authenticity of true Indian cuisine. We ordered chicken tikka masala(very thick fruity red sauce) and chicken bhunna. We wanted a lamb bhunna but they said we couldn’t as the only lamb dish was lamb tikka. The chicken bhunna was frozen chicken, no fresh Indian spices, and oily and sweet. The chicken tikka masala was super thick, very red, no detectable spices, and frozen chicken. The Naan bread was more like an over cooked cracker and hard. The pilau rice was very colorful but lacked any aromatic qualities and no spice at all. the lamb samosas were frozen packets of fried meat. I was underwhelmed and very disappointed. You have to buy the poppadoms and chutneys. Lastly, they do not serve any alcoholic beverages but you can BYOB.
