Tawa Indian Buffet in Newport

I had previously booked a table for a group of 25 people for a leaving party. Arrived there 15mins ahead of booked time to find the building in darkness and a sign saying it was closed due to unforseen circumstances. I had no call, despite taking all contact detail at the time of booking. Sign left in the door by environmental health stated a NUMBER of things about RATS, in and around the food prep areas, food, drinks and their (rat) droppings. Diabolical customer services. Never mind cleanliness. Absolutely disgusting & then to find out the reasons are RATS! In their kitchen, cellar, bar, on their food and cooking utensils etc.

The food in Tawa was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Plus, the portions were generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry! I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a tasty meal in the area.

My partner and I, having been regular patrons at Tawa and enjoying several meals there before. However this time around we were disheartened by our recent visit. The Indian buffet, which had once been a delight, fell short this time with bland curries that lacked the expected depth of flavor. The starters, especially the chicken tikka, were a letdown, as the pieces were swamped in a sauce, losing the once-cherished chargrilled taste. The staff’s professionalism also took a hit as some were observed casually munching on buffet food while walking around, creating an unsettling atmosphere. To add to the off-putting experience, the restaurant blasted the same 10 Christmas songs that felt out of place for an Indian buffet, proving to be more of an annoyance than a festive touch. Reflecting on our previous positive experiences, it made us wonder if a change in the chef had occurred, contributing to the noticeable decline in the quality of the dishes. This inconsistency in both the culinary offerings and the overall dining environment has made us reconsider our future visits to Tawa. The once-enjoyable aspects that kept us coming back seem to have dwindled, leaving us questioning the current state of what was once a favourite buffet dining spot.

Absolutely stunning food honestly the best Indian food I have had with out a doubt I eat out alot and try different foods but this was amazing and definitely me and my partner will be coming here alot and you could see the pride that Alan takes in is food and running this business is unbelievable really is a fantastic guy felt so layed back being there and nothing was a problem for him thanks again Alan a d for the fantastic food 😉

Wow! What a find! The buffet here is incredible! I’m vegan and was thrilled to find how many dishes I could eat! And my meet eating friends loved their food too! We booked as our party of 10 had an event first and the staff were SO helpful, friendly and welcoming - they made our evening. I cannot recommend Tawa and its wonderful team highly enough - we’ll be back!

we went to this restaurant years ago, before yhey change place and was really good. We went some weeks ago and was by far the worst indian restaurant I have ever been to. All sauces were just powder and water, no veggies, no nothing! and meat just dry and tasteless. Bhaji just uneatable! worst ever

Wow The best Indian buffet restaurant I've been to....... Rich currys with plenty of meat cooked well. Lamb in the curry soft as butter, korma thick and creamy. The food its very fresh excellent selection of currys to suit everyone One one thing I'd recommend is some red cabbage and coleslaw on the salad bar to accompany starters. This Resturant has been on our list for a while and we managed to have the time to go. We were greeted by Alan who explained everything to us and was very helpful throughout the evening. Lovely choice of starters and main meals, the Nan breads were initially a bit tough but Alan was more than helpful to get us fresh. Good value just make sure you are hungry before going.
