We went to The Valiant Sailor pub for a Sunday Roast yesterday. It was even better than last time. Thank you so much to Louise, the lady in charge of cooking our meal. It was so delicious. Your roast potatoes are so good, alongside your Yorkshire puddings, gravy and everything else. The meats were beautifully cooked. Everyone cleared their plates at our table and even our extras that we ordered were all gone too. We ordered dessert to take home with us. They are all homemade and such a lovely treat to have in the evening. Delicious. We have already booked our table for next Sunday lunch. Thank you again Louise, for such a delicious meal. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I recommend a visit there absolutely 💯 percent.

A really handy location for travelling to France by the Tunnel. Free use of the car park overnight for our camper which was great. No frills but perfectly OK if in a self contained van. Sadly food had just stopped being served when we got there just after 7 but the landlady was really helpful and let us eat a delivered take away and even use plates and cutlery. Enjoyed our pints of Guinness and bitter very much after a long day travelling, and overall it is a friendly pub with a lively Karaoke and cosy wood burner that the dog appreciated.

Returned to the Valiant Sailor for a meal before our Euro tunnel trip to France. Vicky made us feel welcome in her pub which has a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We had Fish n Chips and a Steak which was cooked to perfection and described as one of the best. All washed down with a couple of pints of ‘Timmy’ Taylor’s landlord. 😊👍

The veg done to perfection, loved the sprouts especially! The pub itself is very tastefully decorated a fine building with an interesting history. The morning after debrief at work and it appears we all thought as I did. I have to say I am looking forward to a return visit to The Valiant Sailor in the not to distant future!

My Family and I had the Sunday Roast. Neither of my children ate much of it as it looked so unappealing and the chicken was dry - like it had been left on the side for hours. My Husband and I tried to be positive and get through ours but - the Beef was so tough it was hard to cut and to chew, dried up stuffing, awful Yorkshire Pudding - I'm not sure how you can mess up a frozen Yorkshire Pudding. £17 for 2 courses - we only had one course but were charged £17 anyway. The drinks also all tasted weird, maybe watered down - wine, beer & coke. There were also locals vaping at the bar (trying to hide it). The whole experience was really disappointing - I would NOT recommend this pub to anyone for Sunday Dinner.

Looking for a decent pub meal somewhere between Folkestone and Dover- were told they were fully booked but place was empty - they managed to find us a table . Very friendly behind bar and waitress friendly too. Food did not live up to description on menu . Very disappointing Hunters Chicken - not a whole chicken breast and not wrapped with bacon or stuffed with cheese . Friends steaks were ok - Chips were strange - possibly microwave chips- not at all crispy . Desserts were overpriced for what they were - Eton Mess and sticky toffee pudding at £10 and £9 - small portions. Not a lot of effort on presentation or flavour of any of the food. At £25 a head for 2 courses just expected slightly better . Won’t be recommending . Seems that most people that did turn up were camping for free in the car park and having a meal. I guess it may be worth it for free overnight stay but not otherwise .

Very disappointing, no cask beer , no alcohol free beer, no tia Maria. Then when I got my Gluten Free roast it came with stuffing, which I thought was a bit odd so I asked if it was ok and was told it should be as the chef had put it on the plate ,but she would check and of course it wasn’t ok. I’m glad I asked as I would have been very ill if I had eaten it. The dinner was good once it was sorted out. But that should not happen. Sadly we wont be coming back. Local resident

We were in Folkestone for other reasons and thought that we would pop into this pub for lunch. The staff were welcoming and the service was good. There was a good selection of beers and the food was good. I understand that the current owners have not been in the pub too long but the pub could do with a spruce up/re-furb, which is difficult when the business is fully operational. Hence the overall rating to 'average'.

We ordered a white wine when we arrived and we were told they had absolutely no white wine, my husband suggested GUINNESS but they didn’t have this either. I had smoked salmon which was strangely pale and slimy and a lamb curry that wasn’t heated properly and had to be sent back. The kids had loaded fries but they had run out of fries and only had chips, my husband asked for a slice of bread with his prawns but by the time it came he had eaten it! Apart from that it was nice and warm and a friendly atmosphere.

Puddings were 1970's throwbacks eg black forest gateaux, lemon meringue pie but neither of us needed more food. What we had was well cook and presented and very reasonably priced. Will definately visit again.

We used this pub as a pit stop prior to crossing on the Channel Tunnel as it's less than 10 mins away. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant. Will definately return.

An excellent family Sunday lunch. We all had the roast beef. A large plateful of dinner. Decent amount of meat as opposed to some places. Huge homemade Yorkies. All very tasty. Only negative was a little disorganised with getting and paying the bill, but lovely staff.

We came here for the lunchtime menu on saturday with our dog truffle. The staff were very friendly and there was a nice area to sit with your dog. The food was all home cooked with a good portion size and plenty of choice of what type of potatoes/salad veg. My only suggestion would be to add more of a vegetarian selection as the choice was very limited. Reasonably priced.

Called in for a weekday lunch on a day out. Welcomed as soon as we walked through the door and promptly shown to a table. Plenty of choice on the menu at very reasonable prices, and the portions were pretty large!! Cod and chips were beautifully cooked, as was the vege burger.

Booked a table as we were visiting the Battle of Britain monument from London. First impressions from one of the party was it didn't look so good from the outside, although others said don't judge a book by it's cover. Warm welcome, nice atmosphere and accosted by two genteel local types! Drinks duly arrived quickly followed by starters of scrumptious breaded brie which were unctuous. Mains were enormous, the pie was bulging with meat. Lovely desserts and we were stuffed. Service was great just a pity about the rain. Highly recommended

Spent the night on the car park in our camper van, the management were very helpful, we were too late to have food which was a shame but the landlady offered us some roast potatoes when we were sitting having drinks which I thought was a very kind gesture, definitely be back again here when we are in the area

Had egg , sausage and chips. A small portion which was filling. I do enjoy coming here and the Elderflower cordial is good in a pint. Blackforest Gateau is very nice with icecream. Good music. I knew all the songs.

We tried to catch afternoon tea, but were appalled by the downmarket clientele. We immediately left. Avoid at all cost.

Food was bland and disappointing, though it looks like they are trying to make up for it with quantity. Seems the chef doesn't want to be there. If you order sausage roll with fries, it will cost you £9. If you order it separately, it will be £7. That is, unless they give part of your order to someone else and then tell you they don't have any more, even though you already paid and been waiting for 10 minutes for the food. Just go anywhere else and you'll have better rating experience

We had booked a room in the adjoining B&B (highly recommended) and also reserved a table at the Famous Ship Inn. Our drive from our home Devon took us over 7 hours (thank you M25 and M20) so we were only just in time for our reservation. The inn itself is very old but we were shown to a table in a modern conservatory on the south side. The food and service were impeccable and the place was doing a great trade, which created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. This was an excellent dining experience.

We popped in for lunch. We were not staying at the "hotel" so cannot comment on the rooms. The food is excellent, if a little overpriced. As are the drinks. An example is a pint of lager shandy was priced at £6.35 and noted as a pint of Birra Moretti on the bill. I raised this but they said they "could not change it". And the larger used was not Birra Moretti! That is disappointing and, for me, that's a deal breaker.
