I popped in for a drink with my partner and some of her friends the atmosphere is truly awful. The bar staff look stressed and angry. The local loud crowed all starring at my partners friends like they had never seen women. It’s horrible and the women felt so uncomfortable that we left after one.

Deplorable hospitality and customer services. Today management turned away a virtual marathon runner raising funds for Alzheimer's Society who asked to use the faculties. She was wearing a mask, offered to leave details for track and trace and buy a drink but was still turned away!

The pub was absolutely brimming. There was live music and there was a mix of locals and the ska people. Everyone was friendly we sat outside just simply due to how lovely and warm it was on Saturday evening. The staff were friendly. Polite. Service was good and everyone was well mannered. I can only say how I find but I thought it’s a lovely little local in a great position.

Everything about this pub is terrible. From the look to atmosphere to the people (unfortunately). Usually anyone would be happy to let this lie as their own opinion and avoid the establishment, but after experiencing countless years of this bar attracting the worst humans in the area, today it was sent home for me after witnessing some disgusting racial abuse against a taxi driver as I was passing. Seemed to be some sort of skinhead / ska festival which always brings ‘that’ sort of crowd, but after the mentioned racial attack looking at all the other patrons around the perpetrator laughing and patting him on the back, I felt sick to the stomach and immediately made a complaint to the police. Any establishment that invites people like this in to their doors needs to be responsible for controlling them. This place is vile enough as it is, can it get any worse? Apparently so.

From the outside the pub looks like a quiet cosy little pub where you can go in, have a drink and a nice chat. When walking into the pub the 6 customers in there(clearly regulars) stopped all conversations and stared at my friends and i. before going to the bar we went strait to a table as we felt very uncomfortable. We was sitting down deciding what to drink (at this point the other customers was still all watching us and whispering) when 2 members of staff approached us. One lady who came across very rude told us if we wanted to sit in there we had to buy a drink to which we explained we was just deciding what we wanted. Shes was then interrupted by another lady to was also very rude and told us shes calling last orders in a minute so we needed to hurry up. Myself and my friends was clearly a lot younger then all the other regulars which would have been fine if we didn't have them calling from across the pub trying to be funny by telling us to have a J20, insinuating that we are underage. This wouldn't have been a problem usually because we can all take a joke but when the barmaids failed to remain professional and was also clearly finding them funny it became a issue. The 3 of us felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave. This pub seems like they only want a select few in there and i would never go back after this. Working on a bar in a hotel myself i am very appalled by the poor service and lack of professionalism. I understand sometimes its long hours and you have bad days but this is no excuse for the horrendous welcome and service we received. I would not recommend this pub.

No welcome here! Tall blonde lady on the bar who was very surly. One of our friends moved a chair at a table and she shouted to not drag the chair in a very angry manner. When my husband moved a bar stool slightly, she angrily told him, someone's sat there! He said, I'm not sitting on it just moved it slightly out of the way. She scowled when I went over to 'quietly ask if he was ok or wanted to move. Scowled again across the pub at me when I went back speaking to my friends. Really very unwelcoming and a very unpleasant experience. Would never in there again. Would NOT recommend.

The pub was full, and when I bought our drinks, a pint and a half of Fosters lager, I knew why, the cost was almost half the price as other pubs on the harbour front. We been to the folkestone popular sunny beach. The only purpose is to have some quality family time after hectic work schedules. Our two year old enjoyed playing in water and after some time we returned back thinking to eat in at smoke house but the young one started running towards the water front at the harbour. He spent some time in the water front and when he was finally done we went to the empty bench available in front of royal george and we started to change the little man's wet cloths and I was asking my wife whether she would like to stay here and eat or go back to smoke house? She said let's eat the burger here before we go home. We were not finished changing little man and a lady appears in front of us and tells us in a very rude tone " sorry bench are only for customers". And the lady goes to the next bench and ask the 2 ladies who sat next to us with our circumstances and asks you are going to drink aren't you? I was flabbergasted with the attitude of this woman. I believe, if the management train people like her they can do up selling and it can be projected in their revenue collection.

We travel down from Bristol to stay in a local hotel before travelling through the channel tunnel on our way to Disneyland the following day. We walked around the harbour and saw the Royal George with a couple of dozen tables outside on a bright sunny summers evening. There were a few tables with pushchairs and mostly families sitting outside enjoying a quiet pint. While I sat outside with the baby my wife and eldest daughter went into the pub to order some drinks and pick up some menus and arrange a highchair for our youngest. After ordering drinks my wife was informed by the bar staff that highchairs are not allowed to go outside and babies are not allowed in the pub. They also do not serve food after 6 o'clock. This was a shame because we had already ordered our drinks but were told that we can get fish and chips from around the corner and sit on the tables outside. Shame really with so much competition around.

firstly on a hot Easter Sunday next to the sea side, the best place to be is is in a beer garden with a cold beer - but secondly there are beer gardens and then there are dirty great slabs of concrete with tables upon it. The beer garden of the royal George falls into the latter descriptionStaff very friendly although only one young lady serving and having no change in the till didn't help matters. Still she was very polite and gave a big smile whilst serving. £8.20 for bulmers and a red wine so not a rip off even though right on the harbour side. Plastic squidgy glasses were the norm as we were sitting outside but that is okay as right next to children's play area and kids n glass don't mixInterior and exterior of the pub are in keeping with the area in that both could do with a bit of TLC and a lick of paintWe sat looking over at the great burstin hotel and that doesn't help!Overall decent beer served cold but not a great pub
