Lovely quaint pub, old beams and low ceiling. Had lunch there and the portions were small (had to have a sandwich an hour later) but very tasty. Beer selection was good and a nice pint too.

Today was our first visit and we're absolutely impressed with the friendly service & the exceptional food! Thank you to the wait/bar staff for the blanket to help warm my cold legs, for sitting us near the log burner & being so good humoured and friendly! So many wonderful choices on the menu too - totally spoilt for choice! Hats off to the chef and team for our perfectly cooked & quality seabass and steak meals. The ice cream and plum brulè were gorgeous too & bigger desserts than we expected - ice cream soft and creamy, plums perfectly poached under the creme brulè. Food heaven 😋 Thank You all! EDIT Have been back many times now as a couple and a group. Food often consistently fab. Except sadly, for a Sunday roast we had. I am sure the meat was processed/ ready carved. Stuffing was forgotten so had to be asked for but that honestly wasn't an issue, never have been afraid to ask for food lol

*Update on previous review below* Sad to say that I hadn't been back to the Drum since my last review which was during Covid. Today we decided to visit again. The pub is literally on our doorstep, yet for no known reason we always seem to go elsewhere, The Drum doesn't seem to be on our radar, but today four of us stopped by for some lunch and oh my, it was absolutely superb! I had Clams in a garlic and spring onion jus with a side order of fries. Others in the party had filled Ciabatta's and fries and my Mum had the Scotch Bonnet, garlic prawns. All of which were cooked to perfection and served beautifully. The bar man/waiter was so friendly and was genuinely happy to serve us. The food here is a major step up from the usual pub grub and a high percentage is home made. Please, please make time to visit this gem of a place. I have learnt my lesson and we will definitely be back soon. My husband and I have just returned home from having a meal at the Drum Inn in Stanford. They are not doing the Government half- price meals but that didn't matter to us as we just wanted to go somewhere different. The location is really nice and the place this evening was buzzing, clearly it is somewhere on the map for local motorbike clubs, as well as being a listed camp site. The staff were really friendly and they have worked hard in putting social distancing measures in place; the pub itself was spotless and we cannot wait to revisit in the near future.

Excellent food, fine old pub building too, food was a bit slow to come out of kitchen (but I reckon they were very busy). You wouldn’t expect much from a pub in the middle of nowhere just off the M20 by the ‘Stop 24’ truck stop. You’d be wrong. Clearly it’s a local restaurant not a destination, but instead of heading for ‘Stop 24’ on your way to the Channel Tunnel you’ll get a better meal at a decent price for the price of a five minute diversion if you’ve got some time to kill. I’ll go again.

Great stopover with the van before the Tunnel. We didn't eat this time so can't comment but the pub looked lovely. Unfortunately the showers were broken the day we were there - but I think that was just one of these things - they looked fine! The field was completely full with motorhomes and they had all gone before 7.30 for early crossings.

Stayed one night for stopover after getting off the ferry at Dover. What a gem of a place this is. The camping area is peaceful in a country setting with all the facilities you need. Felt really safe at night and had a good nights sleep. The food in the pub was excellent and everyone was very welcoming, also dog friendly. The Drum Inn will definitely be our go-to site for a stopover for the ferry or the tunnel. So easy to get to from the motorway.

Lovely old pub and friendly service from the staff. Went there for Sunday lunch. Other dishes are on the menu if you don’t fancy a roast and caters for vegans as well. The downside is that it is quite pricey, puddings are a whopping £8.50 and mains were £13-21, and they include a 10% service charge on top regardless of the size of your party, which is a bit cheeky if under say 8 of you. I had the lamb which was a bit fatty but tasted nice. Cauliflower cheese had a really runny sauce and it wasn’t very nice. Otherwise, a good selection of veggies and lovely roasties and homemade yorkshires. Great selection of puddings, again with vegan options. Would visit again but the service charge needs to be removed from the bills.

We paid £25 for a pitch for motorhome no electric, a basic place to park on grass, the pub serves average pub food with a 10% service charge added , toilet 2 mixed, shower out of order, dated but reasonably clean, a very short steep entrance ramp into the site, we caught the bottom of our motorhome, if you have a tow hitch it will drag across the concrete on entry as is evident by the gouges in the concrete, I couldn’t possibly recommend this place, although close to the channel tunnel are hugely overpriced

Stayed here as in our camper as an overnight stop over before catch the euro tunnel. For location it was great very close to the terminal Facilities were very poor and in my opinion dangerous. Doors slammed and were very heavy Mixed shower enclosed and toilet facilities with filthy soaked carpets and very limited hot water. One shower looked like it was being updated but not in use. Debris and metal sort of just left and scattered about. We did not dine in the pub. Would not use again as the facilities at the early arrivals terminal (water/food/toilets/showers) were much better and even closer.

I have been lucky enough to eat in some of the finest restaurants across the world in my work, the Goring in London, Jules Verne in Paris, Octavium in Hong Kong, and I reckon the food here could stand shoulder to shoulder with any of them. Booked one nights camping before tunnel as we have in previous years. Turned up to find landlady had decided to hold a family bbq in the camping field. Rugby balls and footballs being kicked around our van all afternoon by adults who obviously got more and more enthusiastic and less careful the more they drank. Asked if we could be moved to another pitch away from that field ( previously told not. Possibly) we did Move and then went to the restaurant for dinner. Firstly put on what I assume was the table the staff normally eat at right next to the kitchen so asked to move as the place was virtually empty apart from all the bbq quests buying drinks. We we moved to a nicer table and settled down with a nice cold drink and ordered our food. My chicken was like trying to eat the sole of a shoe and my husbands steak was cold! We were asked twice if everything was ok and said yes because I was so fed up of moaning. The third time of asking though my husband did say all was not well and the manageress apologised and deducted the food from our final bill. The staff were all lovely and really hard working so not their fault . I feel if the owners want to hold a party in the camping field they should have informed all those with bookings before hand. Forewarned is forearmed . We could have decided that was acceptable or not and booked elsewhere. Never Again!

Stopped for 1 night for a nearby event. It was a nice, fairly quiet site, although you could hear the traffic from the nearby M20, but it was not intrusive. I pitched a tent for the night. The ground is level and virtually stone free. The facilities are a bit dated. Hence, I waited to get home for a shower. Food at the pub was a bit gourmet for me. The only thing on the menu for me was the Ham, egg, and chips, which was fantastic and an ample portion. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. We took my in laws here for a late mothers day meal. Not everywhere is open and serving food late afternoon on a Monday, so I was happy when I found this pub. I had called ahead to check they had room, but I needn't have bothered as there was plenty of space. The bar was full of locals, and the welcome was very warm. The lovely barman showed us to a table and gave us some menus. We ordered a wine (obvs) 2 beers....I want to say maybs San Miguel and a lemonade. My in laws don't generally eat a lot so we had 3 started between us, a prawn and salmon cocktail and 2 lots of the halloumi fries. The halloumi was delicious. We all know I like my cheese and I was not disappointed. We followed this a ham egg and chips, a cajun chicken burger, a beef burger and a cod burger. Everyone said the food was delicious and all plates were cleared. I thoroughly enjoyed the cod burger. Then we had 2 chocolate orange bread and butter puddings (one with ice cream, one with custard) and a pecan pie (I think). The pudding was a bit rich for me with the massive slab of ice cream bit delicious all the same. We had a few more drinks, maybe a coffee and the bill came to around £160. The pub had a decent atmosphere, a roaring fire and excellent service. I didn't use the facilities but no complaints came from my family. Would defo recommend and go back for more!

We have eaten at The Drum Inn a few times and always had a great experience. Sadly this time wasn’t as enjoyable. We ordered our mains, three lamb shank and one chicken supreme. The staff were happy to change the potatoes and veg on my husbands chicken dish, which he enjoyed. However one of the lamb shanks was rather well done and our friend struggled to cut it. A fellow diner had already had to send her pie back as it was really burnt on the top. Staff were friendly but seemed a little inexperienced. We decide to order desserts but we were disappointed that there was less choice than our previous visits, three of us ordered ice cream. When it arrived we were all served something different. One of us was given two ice creams turned out of the tubs and on a plate, mine was two ice creams left in the cardboard tubs on a plate and my friend was given a a cardboard tub with no plate! Rather like we were at a kiosk at the seaside! When asked if all ok, I mentioned that we were miffed as to why each of our ice creams was served up differently. The waitress informed us that it was because one of the ice creams hadn’t set properly so they thought it best to leave it in the tub, no explanation why they hadn’t bothered putting one on a plate. When we left after our meal, all of the waitresses were sitting outside leaving nobody in the restaurant to attend other diners. We felt that the dessert saga spoilt our dining experience. I’m not sure if there was a different chef working that night but it seemed like whoever was in the kitchen didn’t seem to be bothered about the quality or consistency of the food. Sadly we won’t be returning in a hurry

Pint coke(on tap) £4. So if you're driving expect to pay it. Other pubs £3.25. Food was slightly more expensive than other decent pubs but not as good as the others. Overall it is ok for a stop off . Not somewhere that would become our local. Overall environment was good. Its not bad but not a pub with restaurant quality food.

searched and booked this place due to the reviews and proximity to the tunnel.. Didn't disappoint at all.. Welcoming owners... Nice site. Pub was cosy and friendly Food was amazing!! Full rack of ribs....highly recommend. I would recommend this place if you're travelling from or to Europe and need a rest

I’m not sure if it’s gone on before this but had 70th birthday lunch but the guest had to return his steak 3 times and still not good. Another guest had chicken and that was dry, also the lamb shank
