I suppose the prices this place charges are classed as reasonable by the Cheshire Set, however to us mere mortals, it's expensive. A standard white coffee is £3.75 and a couple of lukewarm American pancakes, squirty cream and a dollop of compote..£6. You have to look hard for a menu, and as previously mentioned on here, it's a tatty A4 photocopied sheet. Should I ever return here, I won't be frequenting it again.

We stumbled across Urchins so called in for, 2 breakfasts, 1 avocado & toast, 1 water and 2 cans and a twix costing us £39.00. Food was tasty, and the staff where polite, they will deliver the food to your table. The views are good and was nice to see riders and horses competing.

12 months ago, 5 stars, 6 months ago 4, now 3, I'm not quite sure what's happening at this place but it was a real gem. Now it's canteen with nice views. Food used to be served beautifully presented on boards and baskets for your fries, now they are thrown out on boring plates. You have to ask for a glass now for your drink, no danger of a bit of ice, glasses that came out were stained, even the menu is just on a bit of A4 paper. Food quality is cafe standard, nothing special. A shame really, it was my son's first treck out of the house when he was a week old. We don't go much now.

Attended in the afternoon for some lunch and to watch the International Showjumping. Walked into Urchin's Kitchen to find it absolutely packed. Litter all over the floors. Bins overflowing, dirty tables, drunk people wandering around with bottles of wine. After queing for 15 minutes we asked for a cheese toastie and 2 portions of chips. We were they had ran out of chips and we would have to come back tomorrow. Paid £14 for a cheese toastie and two drinks!! Prices are extortionate! Waited 25 minutes for a cheese toastie that wasn't cooked. Poor excuse of a toastie, untoasted bread and barely any cheese. Another shock to find chips with it!!! Will not be returning, waste of time and money. Don't recommend to anyone.

Firstly it's easy to find Urchins Kitchen, lots of parking, lovely clean building with beautiful views over the Cheshire countryside and made extra special with a great view from the cafe to watch some junior horse jumping. The staff are very friendly along with great service, we were spoilt with some delicious cakes with our cream tea, all of which were very fresh and tasty, the clotted cream was the best we have tasted and the scones were warm, very enjoyable. They also cater well for people with disabilities with a lift up to the cafe and we also noticed they are dog friendly, great place. Thank you we will be back :-) Date of experience: August 24, 2023

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Very welcoming place. We have visited the cafe regularly for the past 6 months and cannot fault the place. We watched a few bands there too and they have been brilliant. My only complaint is the site has let the trees grow a little and hinders the of the lovely view of the fields beyond.

Always a positive experience here! Dylan, the Welsh guy with an extremely impressive beard, always makes our visit special and he’s pretty good at making coffee too!!! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

A friend took me for lunch at the cafe yesterday. We were both impressed by how welcoming it felt, how friendly and pleasant the staff were and the quality of the food. So I was surprised to see negative reviews and felt I should express my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to return, especially to sample the scones and cakes.

Extremely disappointed tonight which is unusual as we really enjoyed going before refurbishing. Food was not good a all. 3 cheese burgers one plain and 2 with one piece of lettuce and a chunk of onion. The fries on all three plates were overcooked. The onion rings were overcooked although we did eat some. The carvery was nice except for pigs on blankets as they had been left under heat lamp far to long inedible. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty.but again fries overcooked. The young lady gave me a box to bring the full burger home to put in the bin. This is unusual so not sure if they changed the chief or they were having a bad day. Tripped over the side of the chair and hurt my leg and informed the young lady it was a safety issue she said she would inform the manager but didn’t take steps to remove the hazard. ( not sure yellow and black hazard tape is adequate if it’s covered by the arm of the chair that’s broke ?) this time wasn’t value for money and we left feeling dissatisfied. Felt like they just couldn’t be bothered . Sad really as we have loved eating here 😔
