This place has weird hippie vibes mixed with smelly incense and indian music. I used shazam to work out what it was playing. It was “While My Sitar Gently Weeps Banaras Baba & Kolkata Kid” Very strange music unrelated to jungles and more Hindu religion. I was expecting food all there was some cakes and empty sausage rolls in the cake container on display. We aren't from the area and just googled cafes close by. The cakes were average, not fresh. The place was empty except for two other people there. I didn't like the dangling plants every where. One to avoid if you're ever in the area.

Visiting the (very good) plant centre with my parents. Quirky decor in the cafe - walked my mother to a table and waited behind a woman who was paying for her order. Got to the counter to be told that they were closed (presumably in the previous thirty seconds or so.) Cafe shuts at 4. Short driveway from main road has large potholes - beware if you are driving a small vehicle.

Visited today with my 2 young children and a friend. Hot drinks and cakes were really nice and reasonably priced. My boys loved the fish pond and exploring all the paths and exotic plants. We spoke to a lady a few times who was really knowledgeable and helpful. All plants looked really healthy. My advise to people with small children is that the gravel is very deep in places and some of the paths are narrow so not really that accessible, I will definitely be back but with baby in carrier.

Went with family members thinking we would be able to get lunch. I asked the lady behind the counter if she served sandwiches etc, abruptly she replied this is what we have pointing to the counter. I purchased 2 sausages rolls and a cheese scone, extremely expensive for second class food, soggy scone and stodgy sausage rolls. Sorry but we wouldn’t return or recommend.

First time visiting Urban Jungle. Wow, my new favourite garden centre. Such an array of unusual plants. All in tip top condition. Friendly staff too. The coffee shop is set in such a way you feel you have escaped to somewhere exotic. The coffee was best I've had for very long time. Definitely come again.

BUYERS BEWARE. My son bought a small unlabelled TOXIC house plant from Urban Jungle Norwich with his pocket money, which my dog then ended up ingesting after accidentally knocking the plant off the table. Fast forward eight days of veterinary hospital care, near-death, a £2.5K vet bill and facing a month of recovery, I can honestly say I have never regretted popping in our local garden centre to buy a simple houseplant as much as this. Garden centres who sell TOXIC houseplants should ALWAYS label them as such. If the bigger garden centres and supermarkets do, so can you, Urban Jungle, especially given you have created bespoke labels for all your plants. No excuses. The next time, it could be a child who nearly dies.

This cafe is brilliant! If you are looking for a caf on the outskirts of the city, whether it's after a visit to the countryside or perhaps to complement your shopping trip to Costessey retail park, then you won't regret choosing Urban Jungle. Its greenhouse cafe is filled with all sorts of plants. Some of them the most mature, healthy and BIG specimen I've ever seen! You can find your own corner and not even realize your in a cafe until someone brings your order round. The atmosphere is 10/10, but so are their coffee and food. I've had panini, soup, and cakes and enjoyed them all on each occasion. Before you leave, don't forget to take a leisurely stroll around, find the koi pond and search round the plants and plant accessories on sale which are displayed throughout. You won't be able to take the giant monstera, but you'll be able to get your own little one! Just go. You won't regret it.

We haven't been to Urban jungle since before covid-19 ... we walked out! Yes, the plants are still gorgeous, and the pond is beautiful. However, the comfy chairs are gone, and so is the entire menu! We asked if we could have a look at the lunch menu and the waitress just responded rudely saying, "It's all here on display". The atmosphere is not warm and welcoming anymore, the gorgeous food is now non-existent. We ended up going to the Willow's which is a 5min drive away and was absolutely brilliant.

Very disappointing visit. I used to bring my children here all the time pre-Covid (when they banned kids). We came back for the first time in January 2023 and it’s really gone downhill. All the lovely sofas and relaxed seating has gone, as has most of the menu. It’s REALLY expensive. £3.60 for a coffee! I ordered a tea which was a bag in a mug (previously you would get loose leaf tea in a pot). The sausage rolls were anaemic looking and pricey. Not much change from £10 for a mug of tea, an apple juice and a packet of crisps.

Slightly disappointed with the changes that have been made here. The garden shop area has been made bigger with less in the cafe. The cake on offer is OK, but food choice much more limited. Also no fresh ground coffee and hot drinks served in tin mugs, which are hot to handle and make me think of camping, not a cafe.

Visited Urban Jungle with a friend on a Sunday afternoon for a catch up etc., and admittedly I had never been pre-Covid, but the cafe was just fine… it was a neither “here nor there” experience. The cafe was fine; the jungle setting wasn’t necessarily a winning factor in the ‘experience’. It was much smaller than I imagined from the rave reviews I had heard about. Atmosphere felt quite stuffy and ‘close’ (having said that, I normally find that with a cafe at garden centre!)The food was fine too; quiche (only savoury smack available). A little bland but edible. Coffee was fine too. Cost was on the pricier side I felt…The service was fine, again. Staff were pleasant when taking an order and apologising for the “big” order just taken before mine. Service did not take long either. Overall, a ‘just fine’ place to catch up with a friend. Would I go again… probably yes and probably not. I wouldn’t necessarily actively go out of my way. If someone suggested it, I’d go but with maybe a slight grimace.

Always enjoyed the food and choice of coffees before but it seems they no longer have a menu, only cake.We asked if anything else was available to be told there was a quiche, however it could only be pinged in the microwave and served with "sachets of sauce "We didn't stay and went elsewhere. The plants etc are still good but we were very disappointed with the cafe.

Well having read the recent reviews I wasn’t too surprised that they have ceased the savoury food options and there’s just cake and drinks available now. The cafe is lovely, as per the name the plants surround you and it is a great environment to have some coffee and cake. Cake was not as good as most of the other cafes in Norwich and lady at the counter was a tad brusque when she stated that the orders were backed up so we might be in for a wait but I think the place is still worth it for plants…

Visited Urban Jungle and called in the cafe. I asked the member of staff, who was miserable, if they had drinks suitable for children. Only to be offered orange or apple juice. Sausage rolls were priced at £5.95. I asked if they could be heated up. That was asking a bit to much!!!! No microwave available. For that price I thought they would be served with a side salad. Got that wrong. They were still in the packets on 2 paper plates, they did provide 2 wooden knives and forks. I got 2 cold sausage rolls, 1 piece of carrot cake and 2 paper plates for the grandchildren. 1 coffee in a paper cup, 1 orange juice and 2 apple juices for the extortionate cost of £28.00. Thank goodness I didn't get a slice of cake for each grandchild. Would have needed a bank loan. Don't think this will be on the top of my list to visit again.

We have visited Urban Jungle many times both in Norwich and Beccles. Love the quirkiness of the menu and the quality of the food. Had my best curry here too. Loved the ambience too. We visited today after a while. Little or no menu! Sandwiches ready made in a cold cabinet or a sausage roll! That was our choice. No gluten free. Several cakes which all looked very nice. The lady told us she was there all on her own so could not serve and prepare food at the same time. Even my friends sausage roll couldn’t be heated up?? So I had a cappuccino and biscotti cake both which were very nice and I opted for bag of crisps too. The price was £8.60!!!! Really. The coffee was in a paper cup and the cake on a paper plate with a wooden fork. Come on Urban Jungle you can do better than this. It would have been better to close the cafe rather than serve up a non existent menu at an exorbitant price. So disappointing. Needless to say we won’t be back

After previously visiting we were expecting to have to queue to wait for a table, but now you just have to find a table then order. Easier said then done, as several groups of people were doing the same and the tables were situated in a circular walk amongst the plants. Therefore we were just walking around trying to work out if people had almost finished their drinks, with no guarantee of getting to a table first. Asked a waitress if we could reserve a table for a little later,, but this had to be done 24 hours before. After waiting some time and feeling frustrated we gave up. Too hit and miss to bother with again.

Myself and others had been keen to visit after some delightful trips last year and being blown away by the menu; particularly the fish platter. To our suprise not only the branding but also the menu had changed, with far less to offer. The food did not come out warm, nor was the service timely. Although the environment is beautiful and interesting, the experience was slightly tarnished by the lacking menu.We are assuming they are under new management since we visited last summer, unfortunately it does not now seem quite worth the trip out of Norwich.

I'd tried, unsuccessfully, to find The Urban Jungle once before The signage is very limited. My Satnav found it last week. The cafe itself must be unique. It offers a nice relaxed atmosphere. I thought I would definitely put it on my list of places to visit again. However I was amazed at the prices. Americano with no milk and cheese scone, my usual snack choice, £7.10! Being English I didn't question it. I don't think I have ever paid so much for so little, even on the North Norfolk coast. I checked the menu on my table and noted the coffee alone was £3.40. I'd had coffee in London the previous day and paid £2.40. Both were equally good coffee. The scone was nice enough, nothing special as expected at the price, but rather dry. The butter was hard so had to warm it on the side of the coffee cup before it was spreadable. For the price I expected something special but service was slow, the presentation and the crockery were bland. The cafe was quite busy so I have to assume a lot people don't mind paying these prices. Perhaps full meals offer better value. There is very little competition in this area which might be why. Sadly, it won't be on my list for future visits.

Since the changing of how to order food in the cafe, my experiences have been terrible. Instead of going in, finding a table and then going and ordering from the counter you now have go to the counter, wait to be seated and then order from your table. This works fine in restaurants but when you have gone in for tea and cake and have to wait 40 minutes it is not reasonable. My first bad experience happened when I went for a drink and cake and noticed there to only be one slice of chocolate cake left. Therefore I asked on arriving would I be able to have this now so it doesn't sell out. The staff said it would be fine to be seated at my table then order and the cake would still be there so this is what I did. However 20 minutes after ordering a lady then came over to tell me they had sold out of the cake and to choose something else. Today I went again to have to wait 40 minutes for my order of two portions of waffles to come as one portion. These were also only toaster waffles and covered in chocolate sauce that had been burnt on heating. For a cafe with a beautiful setting the food and service really lets it down.

A hidden gem in Costessey, Norwich . Charming and helpful staff. A wonderful selection of cakes and teas! I had not seen my old favourite: gunpowder green tea I years. Cake of perfect consistency and sweetness, very light. Very good sandwich, very slightly over salted slaw but otherwise a 8/10. Will revisit. Very popular for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Bad organisation yesterday. A friend and I went yesterday for lunch, extremely busy. Sat outside so had to order separately so not to loose table. My friends food arrived but no drinks, then no cutlery so food then getting cold. My order finally arrived 50 minutes later with no cutlery again.

This was our first visit to the Urban Jungle and it is definitely a unique experience. The cafe is situated amongst all the exotic plants which are for sale. Definitely a memorable experience. We arrived at 11.30 just as brunch service finished. Lunch wasn’t being served until 12 which was fine. We ordered coffee....and we waited....and we waited.... 25 minutes later the coffee arrived and we ordered our lunch and this also took well over 40 minutes to arrive. The cafe wasn’t particularly busy. There seemed to be plenty of staff - all of whom were lovely and friendly. But there was definitely an element of chaos. The clearing of tables, taking and delivering orders all seemed rather ad hoc with no strategy or organisation. The food was nice - but nothing exceptional. It was rather pricey - but I guess you are paying for the unique atmosphere which was very different.

Were seated in far corner on setties with crocheted blankets that needed washing and then forgot about. No one came to take our order we waited ages then called over a girl to explain we would like to order and had been waiting a long time. She said she would get someone! After quite a while longer a waitress came explaining no one had told her we were there. Now I've heard of shabby chic but this was shabby shabby chic with the foam and frame sticking out of the setttee arms and the panel of glass missing from the roof with the bubble wrap blowing loose as the wind came in. Noticed this on many windows too. Menu was over priced but we decided on mushroom soup which was delicious and a caffetier of coffee. Coffee arrived but my cup was filthy waiter said wow that's terrible isn't it? He got me a clean cup but by now I had decided never to return. We walked round the plants outside to find most of them neglected, if they couldn't fend for themselves they were dead. The worst thing was instead of filling in any holes in the grounds out side they had all been covered with black tyle affect polythene covering making it very dangerous to walk as you couldn't see holes but fell into them either twisting your ankle or jarring your back. Just looking round the place it seemed to be struggling which I suppose was why Cafe prices were high. Won't be going back.

Came here with my mum. The service was amazing considering how busy it was on a Sunday afternoon. I have the cauliflower and chickpea curry, which was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff surrounded by lovely scenery.

We had lunch, the staff were friendly and six of us seated quickly at a busy time. The menu and prices looked good but that's where it ended! The portions were small more like starters, we were disappointed, so could not recommend the cafe.

Visited with a friend a couple of days ago thought it would be vegetarian friendly how wrong. Menu overpriced and not much choice.only white bread on offer and not artisan. Our frittata was stodgy full of lumps of potato and burnt on top inside it looked grey. Inside cafe was so so hot so after we ordered we told waiter and found a seat outside

My wife and I went to Urban Jungle for lunch today. Admittedly we arrived at a busy time, one o'clock- ish, but it took some time to get seated and our food didn't arrive until just after two o'clock. I ordered mushrooms on toast with roast tomatoes at £8.95. When the food finally arrived I was a bit disapointed. It was a kind of mashed mushroom on a small amount of white bread with three small tomatoes. If this had been a starter priced at £4.95 I wouldn't have minded, but as a mains it was small and in my opinion over-priced.

Me and the wife went to view the plants and trees good selection but the wind had blown many over. Bit pricey then we went for a cup of tea and cake, cake was nice but they needed more staff as service was slow.

I was taken to Urban Jungle on Fathers Day for Brunch. We arrived at 10:00, (their opening time). After about 15 minutes we ordered our tea’s and coffee’s and our choice of breakfasts. Two Urban Jungle cooked breakfasts with black pudding (£2 extra each small slice) and two waffles one with bacon (£2 extra).

Went with my partner and our 4 kids with the intention of buying lunch, ended up getting 2 cakes to share between them as it's just so overpriced. The building itself is lovely, despite being a little tired looking, it has a lovely koi pond in the middle. One of the giant pots next to our table almost fell on one of the kids - think these need to be better supported! The staff were friendly though, and happy to help.

Visited today for lunch. Set in a glasshouse, the cafe is unique and has a koi pond inside. However the glasshouse is a bit "tired" as is the furniture. The staff were very nice even though they were clearly suffering in the heat. Food okay but quite a wait. Worth a visit though.

The cafe itself is actually very nice. The food was ok if a little pricey and not a great choice of sandwiches. Cafe is rather difficult to get into if you are in a wheelchair. The car park is all shingle which is not wheelchair friendly at all. I was really disappointed.

Sadly I have been disappointed on the three occasions when I have visited Urban Jungle during May 2019. The menu is tiny, not very varied, and it is only vegetarian friendly if you like avocado. We were not asked about allergies or dietary requirements, and our requests today to make slight alterations (bacon instead of an egg, salad instead of toast, a jug of tap water for the table) were met with surprise. Chilli flakes were listed on one dish, but there were none; we asked, and were offered a slosh of chilli oil. There is no soup, no special, and no ice-cream, which is a shame. The venue itself is as pleasant as ever, but the staff do not seem very happy. No more lunches there for me, I'm afraid.

I would recommend if you are not in a hurry! Service was very slow because it was busy but worth the wait. It's also a lovely place to just visit, no need to go to the cafe. Would recommend all year round.

We decided to call in for a quick lunch as we'd heard good things about the place - Well, it was amazing. Lovely tables set in exotic plants - we had one by the indoor mini river with massive Koi carp swimming through. Great food, a fab choice of seating from sofas to tables in all sorts of locations. Charming staff. Brilliant.

I have had lunch here a couple of times lately and have found it such an easy going venue that is not affected by the hustle and bustle of modern living. Even though there were several families with young children it still retained a peaceful feel.

Such a lovely little cafe sitting area on vintage style, comfortable sofas. Little river/pond within the cafe under the bridge was so lovely too. Food was very good! Plants are slightly pricey, could get the same quality/type houseplants for cheaper in Sainsbury’s, but a lovely little place for good quality exotic plants! The only thing I am disappointed with, is the service and attitude of the waitresses. Not only did one of the younger women push past and ignore me whilst I was waiting to be seated, she didn’t crack a smile or showed any emotion towards us and the other people in the queue! When me and my family were standing waiting to be seated, there were several waitresses standing behind the bar just staring at us, not a smile not a hello, but they did acknowledge us but no warm welcome! As a waitress myself I can understand that when the place gets busy you can become very flustered and very grumpy!! But a smile or greeting really wouldn’t go amiss! It didn’t set the atmosphere off right and I felt quite awkward. Apart from that, everything was so lovely and will be visiting again- just hoping that the staff will be more friendly next time!!

Bien hecho y volveremos.

Absolutely fantastic 8 course tasting menu! Everything was delicious and well executed. Nick was great, he looked after us all night. It was lovely to see the chefs coming out with the food to explain the dishes. Would highly recommend well done

A lovely place to stop off for a filling bite to eat, with a large assortment of sweet and savory dishes and snacks on the menu. Friendly staff that don't 'overdo it', whilst ensuring a relaxed and attentive service. May be more pricey when ordering for groups of people, but individually it is worth the money. The selection of food we bought was recieved positively, cooked well to order with large and ample amounts, which recieved strains of 'oohs' and 'aahs' of satisfaction, especially towards crispy, flavoursome Scampi, and vinegar-coated, chunky chips. Very pleased with service, food, and cafe layout itself. Only issue is towards prices of drinks, but that can't be helped much due to inflation. All round good experience, leaving us full until the afternoon.

If you want burgers, pie, pizza, fish&chips also on our table location - on a busy food/pedestrian pass- plus a classy constant ‘C bomb’ dropping female barfly atmos - then this the place for you! Used to be great - what the heck has gone wrong? No specials, no drinks service, no enquiry as to if everything was ok (maybe too embarrassed to ask!). Great family (away from the classy barfly) ‘cafe/burger joint - but not a couples restaurant - maybe a commercial choice but not for us sadly anymore.

We had a very pleasant meal even though the service was very slow, staff were polite. Very nice atmosphere even though there was a very loud man in the bar. I asked a man who I assume was the manager that there was no soap in the ladies toilet he said he would deal with it but when I was leaving both soap dispensers were still empty so I had to use the disabled toilet. A mocca was ordered and we were charged for a Hot Chocolate and an Americano which came to £5.50, if we had known it would be this price we would not have ordered it, we queried it and were told we should have looked at the menu, there was no Mocca mentioned so we should have been informed.
