Uni Kebab in Southampton

My family and I recently dined at Uni kebab, and while we were excited to try it out, our experience unfortunately fell short of our expectations. We encountered some issues with our food and drinks, and when we tried to address these concerns with the staff, the response we received wasn't as empathetic or understanding as we had hoped. It made us feel uncomfortable and dismissed. Moreover, when my 15-year-old daughter shared her feedback on Google Reviews, the response from the owners seemed to question our credibility as customers. It was disappointing to see false information added by the owners with the intention to cause reputational harm to my family, being shared in a way that raised serious privacy concerns. After consulting with the Information Comissions Office on this matter, we were advised to request that they take the information down due to it being unlawful defaming content. Luckily, the false personal information is now down. Just by scrolling through other reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of unprofessional responses made by owners to negative feedback. As someone who has been an educator in the field of education for over two decades, I believe that businesses can learn and grow from both positive and negative feedback. It's essential to handle feedback professionally and respectfully. I suggest that Restaurant staff consider attending catering and customer service workshops to improve their response to customer feedback.

Up there with the best food I’ve ever eaten! I had the lamb shish - it came with rice, salad, pitta and 2 pots of tasty sauces. Although pricey for a takeaway it was a HUGE portion that could happily feed 2, I saved half for my lunch today and am counting down the hours until I can eat it! There was a bit of a wait but we were served Turkish tea and it was well worth it once I received this freshly cooked feast.

I'd like to thank the team for a wonderful night out yesterday. The Service was amazing from everyone especially Maya. Me and my husband had a very nice time. Lady owner was great and got us a table and helped us through the menu. Loving the live music, gives a feeling of being on holiday and added atmosphere. Food is great as well. A must try if you’re in the area, I’d say to book as it filled up fast when we were there, you can see they are very popular. Amazing!

Absolutely fantastic! Was recommended by friends who said it was one place they go to all the time. Lots of time & thought has obviously gone into this place. Beautifully decorated and cozy. Food was outstanding!!! exactly what you would expect if you were on holiday in Turkey. We had a sharing platter between the 3 of us & lahmacun to start. We were given a complimentary yogurt & hummus dip selection was given with warm bread and ezma salad to tuck into as we waited for our mains. I noticed everyone received this in the room so I found that extremely generous and you can see them making it fresh in front of you. Staff were very polite and professional, owners would check on guests throughout the evening to check everyone was happy. They told us that they do live music on the weekends so we will most definitely be back next week and I think it’s going to be one of our regular eateries spots from now on as we live in Southampton. One thing to mention is that you will need to book as I see they are always fully booked because of how popular they are. Update: came back this weekend for live music and it was absolutely fantastic! Definitely a restaurant that has gained new customers with us. Already booked for next weekend! Update third visit : fantastic once again.

We have visited their old location before and the food was exceptional but clearly their standards have dropped. The customer service was disappointing and unhelpful when we complained about the side platter being old and when they messed up our drinks. The lady in charge who responded to our reviews was rude and it was as if she was saying we shouldn't have complained as she insisted that it was made fresh that day although the bulgar and hummus were clearly old and dry. We had specifically asked BEFORE if they made fresh LEMONADE and they said yes but served us fizzy sprite and when we told her, she had the audacity to gaslight us into believing we were the ones who were wrong and said that lemonade means sprite in their restaurant. They claim they have the best fresh food but that isnt entirely true, and they dont know how to make their customers feel welcome if someone complains about something inadequate. Rather her response was quite selfish and she seemed "offended" rather than concerned and activley trying to solve the problem. They will also refuse you if you havent pre-booked. You will be charged an extra involuntary service fee and the food has become quite expensive.

Thank you to Steve providing excellent service and an enjoyable time and this goes for the whole time. On the top of the memorable experience and great live music the food was also at a incredibly high standard with impeccable presentation. I would high recommend

I came here for the first time with some friends 2 weeks ago. I came for the second time with my parents tonight for Eid. My parents want to come again next week. This place simply leaves you wanting to come back! The food is incredible, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is friendly, the prices are fair. Overall 10/10. Also there is a man who plays the piano and sings who has been there both times I’ve been there. He’s a delight.

We were back again at our favourite restaurant taking my sister who is visiting from South Africa. Had the sharing platter which was super and finished with baklava. She loved it all as much as we did thank you everyone

Ìts not even a 1 star my family booked this yesterday we travelled 3 hours to get here as we are staying near by for the weekend we were stuck in traffic so my brother in law rang to say we would be 10 minits late the person on the phone said that was fine they arrived before us only to be meet with the most horrible ignorant woman iv ever seen to be told we could not eat there as we were late which we already told them then to be told we don't want you on our restaurant which was very upsetting for no reason what so ever absolutely vile people especially the lady clearly got issues going on to make her so horrible for no reason what so ever ruined the beginning of our weekend

If I could give zero stars I would… We traveled nearly 200miles to visit this place on the way we hit traffic so we rand in advance ask what’s the latest we could be their and response was 6:10pm ( our original booking was 6pm) we arrived at 6:12pm time parked we walked in 6:14pm to meet the host from hell… witch we was told that we are late and she refused to seat us, the restaurant at the time was empty, and I understood that it was going to probably be busy later but at the time their was room, we asked nicely and explained that we was 4 minutes late, witch we was told to get out and then told us that we late and she didn’t care about how far we came… the man was fair asked us to come back tomorrow but once again the lady come out shouting saying she doesn’t want us in the restaurant because she was caught out telling lies saying that she give us a time of 6:10pm because the few people that was in the restaurant was agreeing was that she was being unfair about being 4 mins late… We have a big family and we planned our weekend around this to be disappointed and to meet this horrible lady… Their attitude towards us and my wife and the rest of our family was horrendous!!!!!! Because we would never eat her or recommend this place we have over a million followers and a video will post on social media and you can see for your self’s…… Part 2 and reply to your response. Buy looking at your their reviews, it always seem to be the horrible lady at the door why you get bad reviews, this response is lies she said when we got their we agreed 6:10 but then changes it, and reason why I shouted at the pathetic, little waiter is because he came over with a horrible attitude and tried to shoot us out of the restaurant like we were nothing.. this is a glorified kebab shop.. but seeing all the rest of the bad reviews you have and they all all similar to ours, and they all suggest that the lady at the door is horrible has a bad attitude And is a liar and has been a non-local. If this is how you treat your customers down hear…. I’m happy I’m not a local..

Have emailed the restaurant a week ago but not even had a reply!! We arrived tonight for a family of 5. Told “leave your push chair outside, and we have no high chair!” Not a great way to be greeted. Then told your table with two children is right next to the live music! Can we wait for another table we ask? NO! I have to say, having read recent Google reviews this is exactly the experience we have received: we have used uni kebabs since it moved in Burgess Road many many years ago but having tried the restaurant for the first time, this has certainly put me off now. I won’t ever revisit! I bring family from Turkey for a meal out and it was quite embarrassing!

Amazing Turkish food, meat lovers will love this place!

I think this place has no Turkish customers and does not appeal to Turks. There can be no other explanation for why they get these reviews for such bad food. We ordered lahmacun, but what arrived looked more like a minced meat pizza. I think the master who cooked it made it by looking at the pictures, without having ever seen lahmacun in his life. The dough was 3-4 times thicker than normal lahmacun. The rice was mushy (not a little ice, it was quite mushy) and the iskender was by far the worst iskender I have ever eaten in my life. The waiter forgot to bring the lentil soup, which was my only hope. (But he didn't forget to add it to the bill).. The music was so loud that you could barely hear the person sitting across from you. (As far as I can see, there were quite a few bad reviews about this, but they didn't care at all, very interesting).

DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE TURKISH! The woman waiting at the door was miserable, worst iskender and lahmacun I had in my life. Stressful atmosphere and ended up being charged for food that never came. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Excellent food and lovely friendly service. Always enjoy their takeaway food, but definitely worth a visit to their restaurant. We will be visiting again soon.

Five of us went there for dinner this evening the food was brilliant as well as the service and the owners are very welcoming the food is very good value for money .

We went there for my brother's birthday and it was amazing! I love the food and the service was exceptional. Dannies who served us was really nice and helpful. And his collogue (I'm so sorry I cannot remember his name but he has a really fabulous mustage) looked after us very well! Thanks guys make our day so special! We really enjoyed it!

It's a fantastic restaurant with great food, however we had a very bad experience because the stuff treated us differently. it's not the first time we have been to this restaurant. Me and my mate often choose to dine in this restaurant because the stuff members were usually lovely and nice. however, This time was a completely different and difficult situation for us. While we asked for a student discount(which restaurant usually offered to us), a member of stuff requested us for an physical student id. Which is why we were so confused, because as mentioned from our past experience with dinning in this restaurant, we were allowed to provide a digital student id or just mention that we are students, and the discount would be applied. This time they said is the law of the UK that we must have an physical student id for the discount (even I cannot find this law on the internet) if it is true I think the restaurant should keep their rule in one or not acting in a different way to others. We always had great experience with dinning in this restaurant before, but this time I felt angry, and deeply disappointed, we didn't mind how much we need pay, we just didn't want the stuff from restaurant to treat us differently since before. if the rule is true for the restaurant, I suggest having a notice on the wall, otherwise, It is hard not to suspect that the restaurant was treating us differently just by racial profiling? Which is completely unacceptable and disappointing.

On YouTube the reviews were great, loads of meat on sharing platter, on our platter i felt there was not enough donner or chicken kebab, or lamb, myself and my dad were a little bit disapointed, on the other hand my wife's vegetable pizza was delicious, and as a meat eater that is high praise, we will be back hoping for more of a meat feast.

One of my worst experiences ever! I admit the food is good, BUT, there was someone who was singing and giving a show with the highest, loadest, and noisiest volume ever!! Literally I ended up with headache, finished my food and ran out. Althought I have asked them couple of time please please just lower the volume a bit, they refused. Don’t recommend at all.

The Music is To Much Loud!!! Even if you want it is absolutely not possible to hear for what talking about the person close to you!!! Everything is almost perfect 👌🏻 except the Loud Music!!! And one more thing, unfortunately there's no alcohol at all!!!

I have been a regular customer for years now but I won't be going again and here is why : Food : Used to be good but nowadays it is just ok. Food comes salty many times, and sometimes overcooked. Food is not spiced enough so nothing special about it. Atmosphere/Service: Music is very noisy and they sometimes play vulgar music looping non stop, so you would be eating and hearing the F word many times. Sometimes it gets worse at nights when a musician performs and keeps playing music so loud that you feel you are dining in a disco not a restaurant. If you don't book in advance then you would probably be seated - if they have space - at a small table with little space to eat comfortably Today I did request to be moved to one of plenty available big seatings but was denied because they were reserved, which made me feel uncomfortable especially that throughout our time many big seatings remained empty (at that time we were the only customer in the restaurant) until we left. Overall I had a bad experience Today which made me lose my appetite, pack half of the food and leave. Price: Definitely expensive.

I visited this lovely, friendly restaurant with my brother and elderly parents! They loved the food. Staff were so professional and helpful. Young member of staff, Smaiel helped us with our varied and specific order so efficiently. Quality of food was fabulous 👌. Kebabs, bread, salad, sauces and rice were so tasty and mouthwatering 🥰 thank you all for representing great Turkish food in Southampton. We will surely see you again soon. Thank you all 🙏🏻

Excellent! I can see why they have won so many awards. The food is better than places I have been in the UK and is on par with the Turkish restaurants I have been to in Istanbul . The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff are very professional and friendly helping us enjoy a really special evening.

Unpleasant experience, avoid at all costs. It’s a push to even give 1 star. Food 1/10 due to oily food, undercooked rice, unexciting plates of food presented with plentiful soggy lumps of onion. No flavour or spice in any of the food tried? I ordered a dinner wrap which had very tough meat and was marinating in its own oil on arrival. Service was a 0/10 staff were very rude and unemphathetic. Poor customer service. 10 minutes after food was delivered our table were were bluntly informed we had 10 minutes to eat and the rest we had to leave or take home. This is understandable if the restaurant is fully booked and busy however the rest of the restaurant was empty so being rushed for a table of 4 which there were 4 others free made no sense (see photos attached). Unapologetically took our money for a meal we couldn’t enjoy due to the pressure from the staff? Generally not a good experience for a much anticipated meal out with a great group of friends.

The presentation of food was nice. Had the kebab mix grill and meat calzone. For the price you'd expect the quality of the food to be better. It was either old refried meat and chips or low quality or overcooked. It's worth a try

We had dinner here and was serviced by Matt. He was very attentive, friendly and helped us select our dishes. Matt even took some photos for us and looked after us. The staff were nice overall. Everything was nice except I felt rather cold where I was sat. Also, the chicken Parmo was over cooked. It was really hard to cut. It seemed it was over fried and then cooked some more with lots of cheese on top. Tasted good but hard to chew and cut so hence the rating.

O...M...G!!!! The food is amazing, was sceptical about a £20 kebab but it was possibly the best kebab I've ever had, forget your usual mystery meat in a smart price pitta... This is some next level kebab.....

Visited for the first time with my fiancee. My first time eating Turkish food. We shared a mezee and a main course. The food was amazing and very tasty. So much that we took some home. Matt was very friendly and professional. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We were not made to feel rushed which was nice. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended and we will go there again.

Don't be fooled by the name, this is a lovely Turkish restaurant with classy vibes! Very authentic, staff are delightful, food is always fantastic. Complimentary bread and dips before your meal and tea afterwards. Would always recommend, whether it be for a family gathering, date, or a get-together with friends.

It getting worse, the lamb kebab is very very salty we couldn’t eat it at all and they didn’t cancel the item. Also the Baba Ganoush taste is like it get poison or the yogurt is old or expire. But they also did not cancel it The did not clean ketchup and mayo bottles they are very dirty and got black spots on it. Also they did not do student discount before and like all other restaurants. They said everyone has to be a student. How come this is my small family my husband and children. This is first time in Southampton I face such a restaurant loosing their customers, shame on them. Last time for me to visit or order from this restaurant

Brilliant evening, great mocktails I had the cherry kisses it was delicious, food was really nice and great size portions, lots of choices on the food menu atmosphere was great, I enjoyed the entertainment and the service was great to. Will be definitely returning in the future.

The menu is good and the service is fine but the problem is with the service charge as this can easily add up especially if you're taking the family out for a meal. When asking to have this removed as it isn't mandatory, the owner seems to take great offence and begins asking all kinds of questions and even wanting to know where you're from! This has happened on more than one occasion so unfortunately we won't be returning as it has ruined our dining experience.

Food was amazing, highly recommend the hotshot twister & the virgin blue lagoon. Matt, the young lad with the afro (6'1), had us laughing the whole way and honestly was a 10/10 server. The workers generally speaking seem to get along very well and gives that family type of feel, comforting and had us feel welcomed.

Had a lovely meal with colleagues from work. The atmosphere was great, nice surroundings and lovely, fun service from our fabulous waitress. It was great value too, especially as it is alcohol free!

Taste of their food and the portion is proper satisfying that will force you to visit again. Table for 4 were not big enough to eat comfortably, everything else was very well organised.

Saturday lunch with friends. We had the cold mezze and a very big sharing platter. I can sum our first and not last dining experience in one word, EXCELLENT.

Great fast and friendly service. Great Food selection and options. Rapid delivery and presentation on point. Thoroughly recommend the Mezze selection. Food served hot and cooked well. Atmosphere and overall setup add to the intimate experience. Live music tops off the entire experience. Would definitely book to go again and also start ordering for takeaway.

I tried to book via the website. However after so many tries the +44 number was showing invalid. I suggest to removing all the options for country code. Because +44 is also Guernsey where the issue was. I booked for 2 adults and requested a high chair at my first try. However after many tries thay comment got deleted. When we arrived. The host only could give us a table with 2 chairs and advised that we could have our kid on our lap. This is early Saturday evening and space was available. The host wasn't able to come up with solution as her colleague suggested. She was rude and incompetent. We had to ask several times if she was able to provide a table or not. We decided to leave and we won't be coming back.

Wonderful place near Southampton. Great friendly staff. Best to book in advance, this place could get crowded, even on a weekday dinner.
