Great beers but let down by shit music. The place is about as Bluesy as Channel 4. Banging music lets an otherwise great place down

In my humble view, the best bar in town. A wonderful variety of beers, both on handpump, for the more traditional folk, and on tap and in bottle. Includes stuff you won't find anywhere else in the area. Very welcoming with great atmosphere.

Superb roast dinners...all the trimmings and more....the vegan roast was fantastic too. Great atmosphere in basement with bluesy music in background. Staff amicable. Will definitely eat here again.

Fantastic! Thursday Night Had the Camembert starter followed by the mussels and steak, DELICIOUS! Great portions, great fries, I really enjoyed it. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff PLEASE COME AND TRY AS WELL THEIR DRAFT BEERS AND CIDERS 😁

Once you go down the stairs it becomes a typical Belgian cellar bar. Good selection of Belgian beers. Will go again.

A connoisseur’s place for the cream of Belgium and continental beers. A great venue, not only for the array of beers but, the ambiance and music. In the basement it offers either booth style seating or high chairs and small tables. Would recommend this place. Check availability at busy times.

Very much improved pub, 4 real ales on most of the time and a great variety of different beers, definitely worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.

Went into this pub with a couple of mates. Person behind the bar was uninterested, relatively rude, and denied us from having a taster of beer despite having been all out of lagers which was what we were going for. Interesting craft beer establishment that does not offer tasters or advice on what beer to get. Shame, as quite a nice place, would love to come back but only when it starts operating as expected.

Pick your favourite Belgian beer and see if they have it. Had mine Chimay Blue. Brought back great Belgian memories.

Perfect place to go for a quality pint and burger. Well worth the money and a fantastic selection of both food and drink on offer. It is one of the best pubs in the city.

My new favourite place in Southampton! We celebrated my girlfriend's 30th birthday at Belgium & Blues and had a brilliant evening. The food we got was all freshly made and really tasty and there were plenty of veggie and vegan options for us to choose from. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and always made sure we had everything we needed over the evening. Most importantly the array of beers was vast and every single one I tried (which was a fair few) was delicious. Would highly recommend and I'll definitely be back for a pint in the bear future.

Loved the cosy atmosphere and found an amazing Scottish cider on tap here. They serve bitterballen which is a personal favourite snack and it was as perfect here as it was in Amsterdam. Definitely going back.

Worth a visit for local real ale in the cellar bar, plus excellent Belgian beers on tap and in bottle I prefer to drink my Belgian beers in Belgium but the Trappist Ales are tempting

My partner had a table booked last weekend, patrons sitting on the table wouldn’t move after being approached. Workers didn’t seem to care or try and resolve the situation by any means or urgency, and were then rude to my partner for asking about what was happening! Edit: I can see the owner Steve has responded. Unfortunately you have details incorrect, at no point did my partner shout or demand the others to leave their table. She offered to swap the table we were sitting on, to which the others did not want to at that moment in time, which was fine. Nor did she approach them again after this, she approached your workers. I’m not sure how you can say that the “father looked amazed and somewhat disappointed” when he was unable to see the interaction, as he was sat alongside a wall, and cannot bend the laws of physics. You are operating on either incorrect information or in bad faith, which is a shame.

Awful place and experience I will not be returning. Loads of beers I did not know and despite saying I had no idea. I was directed towards a menu board with what options were. I asked for a small trial of a beer to try but stated I couldn’t. Staff not knowledgeable and atmosphere awful.

Edit: I am unsure of how Steve has come to the conclusion he has written below, however it is full of inaccuracies and falsehoods. I did not refuse to take a drink to a temporary table, I had a drink with the rest of my party while waiting for the table. I did not demand that the other customers leave their table immediately. I offered to swap the table I was on currently with my party, so that the other customers would have a guaranteed space when their time on the table was up. They did not want to move yet, which is fine and entirely their choice, so we waited on our temporary table until our allocated time came around. When that time then came around, the occupants of the table had not vacated, and a member of your staff approached them for a few minutes, came away, and they had not vacated. I then approached your staff to see what was happening, where I was met with rudeness and dismissal. At no point did I shout at anyone, that is a complete fabrication and I’m upset that you’ve resorted to lying about what happened in order to defend your business. I do not know how you’ve come to that conclusion, whether a member of staff or customer has relayed to you incorrect information, but it is completely untrue. Review any CCTV you have and you will come to the same conclusion. The manager of the establishment made me feel belittled and was rude, so yes, I took our custom elsewhere. It’s a shame to see a business make up such statements, the professionalism of your business is certainly reflected in your reply. I would have taken this as an opportunity to reflect, even if you had felt and thought that you had done nothing wrong, but that appears to not be the case. We clearly have two different versions of events. I stand by the review and would advise against visiting this establishment.

One of the best places showcasing Belgian beer I've come across! The barteam were super knowledgeable and pointed out some fantastic refreshments; we even stayed for a burger which was a steal at under £15. We've booked for next week! 🙂

Always love popping in here for a couple, great choice of beers and ales and good knowledgeable bar staff. Always some kins of music on the weekend too.

A friendly bar with atmospheric blues music in the background. The bartender helped me choose a lager as I wasn’t familiar with the Belgian offerings.

Great little basement bar in the cultural quarter of Southampton. They have many different beer brands available too! Edit: I recently tried their Sunday roasts! Delicious.

Some excellent varieties of beer that you won't find elsewhere but it comes at a high cost.

it's our favorite spot, we really like the relaxed and chill atmosphere. We usually sit upstairs because it is not very noisy and very quiet. The quality of the beer is excellent, the food is normal but considering the quality of the pubs in the city it is more than fine.

Wide selection of keg and a few casks - pricey but varied calendar of events / entertainment

Sat here minding my own business and barman came over Slammed a reserve sign on the table said absolutely nothing to me and stormed off ? , (Bit late to reserve a table at Nearly 8pm when someone is sat there waiting for friends ? ) Snarled at me and walked off. Table opposite me also got up and Left. Will never come back.

An easily missed gem on the main street through Southampton City centre. At street level it may not seem that appealing but once you go through the doors and down the steps you can really appreciate its charm. A cosy low ceiling with a mix of snugs, booths and high top seating around and opposite a welcoming and well stocked bar. Of course as the name suggests, there's a plentiful choice of beers, ales, lagers and ciders as well as spirits etc. We enjoyed a roast each. The food was rich and flavoursome and both the pork and brisket were superb. On the side we had cauliflower cheese and extra gravy was available by request. The music really set the scene, popular rock classics, as did the lighting and general decor. Through the week there are themed evenings....e.g live blues on a Thursday. The service was a little slow at first and could be a bit more engaging. But it was still good. Toilets were OK. Generally though... its a great place. Would be good for groups. We'll be back soon....

We always visit when in Southampton and manage to often spend a couple of hours here effortlessly! Friendly and attentive staff who know their stuff. Recommended.

I went to see my friend's band play there. Fairly cool place, not a lot of room though. Drinks ok.

This is a very awesome cellar craft beer venue, which you’ll find difficult to want to leave. They have great and unique selection of beer on tap. However sometimes they do seem slightly overpriced compared to other specialty craft beer spots in the city. On this occasion of visiting, we decided to try their food menu and was very impressed by it and the selection they had available. Would highly recommend popping in during a visit and trying out 1 or 2.

They have an epic selection of Belgium and local beers. Also a selection of 0% beers. The steak and chips was delicious and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

I really liked this place. Good beer selection, and the legit bitterballen nails the authentic belgian/dutch vibes of the place. I also like the seating/table situation here. Probably my favorite pub i visited in southampton.

Great selection of beers outside the usual suspects found in most chain pubs. Good choice other drinks as well. Pleasant staff and Ok prices. Saturday afternoon visit so don't know the evenings pan out here. Bar is down stairs with cosy seating, nooks etc. The ground floor seating is bright and airy with a couple of outside tables to watch the world go by.

Brilliant place. Staff really helpful with suggestions and the burgers are perfect. Definitely returning!

Didn’t have food but the drinks were nice, expensive but tasty. Lots of variety. Music was slightly too loud but it was a live DJ, too loud for the little amount of people in there at that time anyway. A pub to enjoy after all

This small local bar is excellent for those who want to try something different and expand on their usual drinks. The underground bar is cosy and welcoming with its decor and seating, the food is absolutely delicious as they have something for any time of day snack or meal, the bitterballen is my favourite! The team here are great and professional, especially in helping you find a drink if you are unsure what to try! I will definitely come again when in the area!

I’ve been going here for about 4 years now and I can tell you if you’re after craft beer, great food, live music and exceptional service I couldn’t recommend anywhere else in Southampton! The guys down there know their stuff are super lovely. Always a great selection of beers, 20% off tasting flights on Tuesdays, kitchen pop ups and tap take overs. Cannot recommend enough

Loverly dog friendly pub, excellent selection of beers, we also had a great time doing the quiz on a wednesday which starts at 7.30. Whilst we didn't eat the food being brought out looked good.

Been a few times for after work drinks will colleagues. It's a bit cramped but it's always a good atmosphere.

As a real ale drinker, this is a fantastic pub in the real ale desert of Southampton. 4 great real ales, from all parts of the country.

Amazing pizza with excellent beers!

Aunt Bessie's roast potatoes. Claiming to do the best roast in Southampton and charging £20 for it and then serving Aunt Bessie's frozen roast potatoes is a joke. Roast potatoes aren't hard to do , pure laziness.

Best pub in Southampton! Surprised by their fantastic selection of Belgian beers. The staff were also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I also tried their pizza napoletana which was delicious and paired perfectly with the beer. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended for anyone looking for a good pub with great food and beer

Amazing place for beers and Gin and Tonic. The pizzas however...they are supposed to be Neapolitan style pizzas. Mine had hot honey on it! Really disgusting. And that was not the first time I tried a pizza here. The dough is ok, the toppings are not good at all. You can do better! Go back to the old menu!

This bar has the best beer selection in central Southampton and the pizzas and Sundays roasts are to die for. The staff are top class, they even lifted our pushchair down the stairs for us when I had Sunday lunch with my girlfriend and our baby. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, great for drinks with mates or date night.

Went to Belgium and Blues the other day, the venue was clean and immaculate. I went on a Tuesday and had a fantastic Pizza which was 2-4-1 so me and a friend had a pizza each. The staff where really knowledgeable about the beer's with loads to offer depending on what type of beer you are into after a long chat with the staff we found a great NZ Pale Ale that was right for me, but Owen really helped me pick the right beer for the moment. All in all the venue is well worth a visit if your massively I to beer or not as there is offerings for other to drink as well.

Bouncer was hostile, unreasonable and extremely disrespectful. My night has been ruined. As we approached the bouncer was stood on the curb, next to the road - not next to the door, as we approached the door he claimed we were too drunk because we did not see him, and therefore were not allowed in. We argued our point; it’s not a matter of being too drunk - it’s simply body language. As we approach a door to a small venue that has no security guard standing in proximity, or a security guard that doesn’t attempt to stop us before we open the door, then of course we will open the door! He then said that this was because we were too drunk. It’s my friends birthday. I’ve had two beers and my friend is driving (so not drinking) and we wanted to enjoy some live music. We were not rude, only apologetic. My father has played music at this venue and we were really looking forward to a night away from the all the rowdy student venues. Disgusted by this. What a shame because I’m sure the values and experience of the venue do not represent the attitudes of the bouncer. Please hire someone who better represents your establishment. Night ruined.

Lovely place for a pint and pizza. Great selection of both Kegs and Bottles and good offers during weekdays. The only reason I take off one star is because of the service. The bartenders could smile a little and not be so uptight. We visited on a Tuesday evening and they weren’t even that busy. They forgot my red onion chutney with my Camembert :( I felt something was missing but I didn’t notice it till I’d consumed half of it. So I didn’t bother to flag it since the staff didn’t seem so friendly. To conclude, I would definitely visit the place again as the beer and food is good but I just hope they improve the service.

a craft ale pub with local vibes, offering a distinction between a lively party atmosphere downstairs and a quieter conversational area upstairs. I appreciated the variety of new beers and the option to socialize or watch sports. The food vendor changes regularly, but I did not have a negative experience with the food. However, I noted that the toilet was not up to my standards. Overall, despite the bathroom issue, I had a good time and would recommend the place.

Dropped by last week for a beer and paid £6.20 for half a pint of a keg IPA! It was around 7%ABV and tasted good....but come on guys, £12.40 a pint is taking the *£!!! Will not return when the same thing can be bought elsewhere for half the price. Greedy.

Belgium and blues beers are all excellent, I've eaten there a few times now and the pizzas particularly are very inconsistent. The first one was about a year ago and it was really tasty, and cooked just right but lately they have been over or under cooked and not much flavour at all, considering the price this is very disappointing.
