The Fish Station in Southampton

We are in fish and chips mushy peas and Donor Meat meal. It was superb, I would recommend 💯 Great food, good price and very friendly nice people. Shame we are just visiting Southampton, wish this was our local chippy 😋

the burger order was incorrect and sadly didn't taste nice. The doner was OK, didn't smell. Chips needed salt and vinegar, like me asked. Price wise, it was OK.

Chicken meat and chips with garlic mayo at its best!!!

This is my third time coming here with the family and the food is still brilliant. The fish is fresh, the batter is superb, being light and even and the chips are evenly cooked, soft and fluffy on the inside. We had Haddock and Plaice this time, both were delicious 😋😋😋 I've popped in again today 21/12/24 with my wife and daughter, see the last two pics below. Again, the food was just to die for, we had the haddock, plaice, chips and mushy peas, all were perfect, batter light and perfectly fried. Chips were light and fluffy in inside. We cannot recommend this little spot enough!

A small shop with around 5 tables and a lovely couple. I always have fish & chips whenever I travel to a coastal city, and their fish & chips did not disappoint me at all - fresh cod, just the right amount of batter, and a perfect portion size.

Lao Tie’s shawarma is delicious and the portion is quite large (I have a small appetite)

Not had food from there before but it was absolutely good and delicious the only thing was my partner food was cold not properly cooked though enough which was lamb and donner , but he's enjoyed his chips, also friendly staff members, will be going back 😀

Great local fish and chip shop that also has a variety of kebabs and burgers, always freshly cooked to order, highly recommended.

Unfortunately the delivery was late, I called Fish Station who said the delay was due to being busy. After 45 mins after the stated time the food was delivered, “Luke Warm”! After a couple of years using Fish Station the portions were smaller and cold.

This is a small fish and chip shop that was recommended to us. We went today. The staff is friendly, and the food is great. They cook the fish fresh when you arrive so about a 10 minute wait. Worth it. There are a few tables inside. If you are in the area give it a go.

Food was quite late and turned up cold

The pea fritters wasn’t cooked enough, chips were cold and crispy, the curry sauce and sausages were fine, used to love having chips from here not sure I’ll be eating from here again

Love this place. Having moved from London where did been for over 2 decades and having worked for and eaten at many very fine establishments around the world, you still can’t take the good old fashioned down to earth hearty great value meal with a smile out of me. Found this place, by accident, with my daughter and now we pop in from time to time and sometimes drive a fair distance to savour their kebabs, chips and great service. We usually have a large chicken shish but lately I’ve been devouring the lamb doner as well. The portions are always large, always fast service and at the end of the day it’s just a fun place with a variety of locals dipping in, overhearing stories. A diamond amidst East Street. Oh and the chips and sausage in batter always great. I’ve yet to try the fish. Will do one day. Keep up the great work.

We were in Southampton for a few hours (from cruise ship) and were in the mood for fish and chips. We researched quickly and found good reviews on this place, and discovered it was nearby so we gave it a try. I had small cod and chips and husband had large (but said afterwards small would have been fine). Fish was delicious, chips seemed homemade and the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He does cook to order so it’s fresh! Highly recommend!

I ordered at 1840 and it arrived at 2025. Food was cold and not particularly appetising. On calling the restaurant they said they were busy which is why it was late.

Its our first time ordering online from The Fish Station. We have eaten in the restaurant before and it has been fine. This was a bit of a disaster. The order took a while to be approved. Our delivery time then changed to a later time, my meal had salad on top of the kebab, even though I requested no salad! I cant bear cucumber & tomato near my food. The delivery driver called me to say my food was here so I asked him to press the buzzer. He was at the wrong block of flats pressing the wrong buzzer. He eventually found us but the food was tepid by then. So, unfortunately, will not be ordering again. Extremely disappointed and would expect some sort of reefund.

It's really tasty food. A wide variety is offered. The fish and chips were very tasty. They cook it fresh so it won't be Luke warm like some other shops. Unfortunately, they don't accept card, so you'll have to use the cash machine further up the road. Little parking is nearby, but that is expected due to the location.

For us, fish and chips are a must in England. Found everything we needed here. Very good quality, super friendly service. No card payment was possible which surprised us, but we were able to pay in euros and got coins back in euros 👍. Everything perfect.

The Fish Station is the best fish and chip place in Southampton. My partner usually gets the cod and chips while I get the chicken burger. The quality of the food is consistently great, as are the portion sizes. It’s also competitively priced. But do be aware that this is a cash only establishment! The owners/staff are always incredibly warm and welcoming. My partner and I love it here and look forward to coming back many more times. Thank you so much!! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Amazing food overall however the chicken Doner was something else. Came here after a trip to Paultons and they have a great variety on the menu. It’s cosy and the service by the staff was exceptional. Highly recommended halal chippy.

I was welcomed with a massive smile when I arrived after a busy week of work that made me instantly feel relaxed. The restaurant is clean and I didn't have to wait long. The fish and chips were the best I've tasted for a long time. Not a bad price either. All staff were friendly and wished me a good evening.

A fish & chip snack as you wish. The food was delicious, the staff are very friendly and accommodating and we felt very comfortable here. First time in Southampton and leaving on Sunday. Stopped in for a lamb donar and was not disappointed. Friendly staff, delicious food, and large portions. Great value for money. I will be going back for the fish and chips tomorrow.
