Ceno in Southampton

We came here for a work Christmas meal with 12 people, everyone said how excellent the food was and the service was brilliant.

Attended works Christmas do on a Friday night. It was evening and dark and parking was not obvious, but we found a spot down side street. Around 40 of us. Great service, very attentive, excellent food. Drinks ok (no bitters or ales sold here) Had a fab evening and would go again, but perhaps on a weekday in the New Year when less busy/noisy. Only downside, didn't enjoy the DJ's music and judging by the empty dance floor all evening- neither did many others. Guess it was just because not playing Christmas Party music. Good atmosphere, would recommend.

Went here for a group Xmas dinner, food was incredible, staff were very accommodating and would highly recommend.

The team at ceno especially lorraine helped me create the most beautiful wedding reception after having to bring my wedding forward due to a family member being poorly , nothing was to much they decorated the whole bar area for us and was stunning and took all the stress away from me and my now husband , we had the Buffett menu and the food was out of this world everyone said it was the best food they had in a long time. all the team on that day was fab and was always their to make sure we had everything we needed , highly reccomened ceno for a private hire , dinner or just drinks . such a lovely team and can't thank you all enough. alishia and liam ebejer

I recently visited Ceno during a busy evening, and I must say the experience was excellent. Despite the high volume of guests, the service was smooth, efficient, and attentive. The cleanliness of the restaurant stood out, with the staff maintaining a spotless environment even during the rush. The highlight of my meal was the Sticky Lamb Salad. The lamb was perfectly cooked, with a rich, delicious blend of sweet and spicy flavors. It’s a dish I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for something unique and full of taste and a perfect gluten free dish that you would not find on any other menu. I’d also like to give special praise to the manager, a lady with blonde hair, who was exceptionally welcoming and professional. She ensured everything ran seamlessly, making the evening feel personalized and enjoyable. Her attention to detail was impressive, adding an extra touch to the overall dining experience. The background music was soft and relaxing, which I greatly appreciated as I’m not a fan of loud music when dining out. The calming tunes made the atmosphere even more enjoyable and added to the relaxed ambiance. I also inquired about booking my birthday at Ceno, and it seems like the perfect place for a special occasion. The combination of excellent food, efficient service, and a peaceful atmosphere makes it an ideal choice for a gathering. I highly recommend Ceno for anyone seeking a well-rounded and enjoyable dining experience!

Nice restaurant but not diverse

I recently hosted a party at Ceno bar, and I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the experience. When we hired out the venue, we were not informed that it would also be open to the public. We were shown area that was supposedly ours, but it felt like we were sharing the space with everyone else. Throughout the event, we were constantly told to keep our voices down, even though people at the restaurant didn't seem to be complaining about the noise. This made it difficult for our guests to enjoy themselves and engage in conversations without worrying about being too loud. To make matters worse, the playlist we carefully curated was hardly played, and when it was, the music was turned down so low that it was barely audible. On top of that, the buffet was also disappointing, as we couldn't select more than five dishes, which meant there wasn't much variety for our guests to enjoy. We spent over 1,000 for this event, and it was disheartening to see our guests leaving unhappy because they couldn't even talk comfortably. Overall, I would not recommend hosting a party at Ceno based on this experience. This has really disappointed me as the aesthetics of the venues appear beautiful in pictures especially as theme was glamour.

It was closed and we don't know why ?

Five of us had dinner on Saturday 14 September. We had good service but what really impressed us was that when we were walking back to the car, the waitress came running out with a £20 note that had fallen out of my friend’s pocket at the table. What amazing honesty and just made it such a good experience in these days when some people don’t have such integrity.

Met up with some friends for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was full and lively and we were seen to our table and the drinks order was taken. The roast dinners were fantastic and I love the fact that they don’t charge extra for cauliflower cheese like so many restaurants these days. It was all included as well as really lovely vegetables and perfectly cooked roasties. Two of us had the beef which was tender and perfectly cooked and another had pork which she thoroughly enjoyed, especially the crackling serve separately. Another friend had the fishcakes as a main which looked delicious. Three of us had desserts which again were well presented and really tasty. The serving staff were attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for anything. I can definitely recommend the roast beef and crème brûlée. We will definitely be back.

Ceno’s organised a fixed price brunch which included bottomless drinks. We took a visiting friend along and thoroughly enjoyed the event. It included wine, beer and a small range of cocktails, brunch menu offered a wide selection of items from full English, eggs Benedict, pancakes etc. The staff were fantastic, kept the drinks flowing and the entertainment provided by Issy Somers was great. Thank you to Lorraine and the staff for arranging and delivering a memorable day.

Your chips are horrible, greesy , to me that teĺs me lots about the restaurant , salad was dripping in dressing, not great, only good for an overpriced drink, fantastic location and staff are lovely

Just delicious, my favourite restaurant in Southampton by miles. The menu has so much variety, but the food doesn’t suffer for it - every single thing I’ve eaten at Ceno has been a knock out. Special shout out for the sticky lamb, ribs and sticky toffee!

Excellent food, varied menu with loads of options, good vibe in the restaurant. Can't ask for more! Absolutely worth going if you've never been before. No where better to eat in the city.

we are currently visiting Southampton having lived away for more than ten years. no trip to Southampton would be complete without visiting Ceno which is our favourite restaurant by far in the city. the staff team, both new and old, are all super friendly, and they are always happy to adapt existing menu items and make them vegan for us, including this awesome vegan roast dinner which we enjoyed during our most recent visit. highly recommended and we can’t wait to return.

Visited for the first time last ... family birthday ... Excellent calves liver and bacon salad - a contemporary take on a traditional dish ... perfectly cooked liver ... and a very good affogato to end end the meal ... We'll go again ...

Celebrated my sisters birthday at Ceno with a buffet and as usual the food did not disappoint. The brilliant chef prepared many dishes including vegetarian options and they were all delicious plus it was reasonably priced. Lorraine and her staff are always friendly and they make you feel welcome, nothing is too much trouble for them.Cenos is my favourite restaurant in Southampton and I highly recommend it.

I was blown away by my experience at Ceno's. What a fantastic place! I came for Sunday dinner with family, and it must be up there with one of the best Sunday dinners I've had. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the portion size was perfect! I also had a starter and dessert, and again they were lovely. Service was just right, not too fast or too slow, and a great sociable atmosphere be it in the restaurant or at the bar. I will definitely be coming back!

Great place for a lunch/dinner. Decent service and good tasty food. Ample seating spaces, clean toilets. £50 for 2. Main course dishes are great, ask for availability before ordering. Sides/more than sides portion sizes are below average.

Not that busy and they still couldn’t get it right. Ordered a burger which was cold and the bottom of the bun was wet and mushy🤢. Ceno reason why at all.

After a wonderful visit to the theatre myself and three friends went for dinner to ceno I have been many times before and as always the food was excellent so delicious and well presented the staff are so professional and friendly and such a buzz and great atmosphere.Thankyou ceno for the best time.

Our go to restaurant, the staff are brilliant. Food is interesting, tasty and made with good quality ingredients in plentiful quantities. Parking is a doddle in the hotel next door (free) and the opportunity to sit outside when its warm and dry is great.

Delicious food and waiting staff full of kindness. We went on a very quiet night but that didn't mean any compromise on food quality. We had a selection of starters for sharing and then one of the large sides. Everything is excellent, but I'd particularly recommend the sticky lamb. For dessert we shared the mini selection and it was a win, however next time I'll probably go for a full size sticky toffee pudding. The waiting staff were absolutely delightful. Conversation with one was particularly special as she made us feel extremely wanted. I'm told that it's similarly good when busy, so I look forward to returning on any day, and I'll be having a larger portion of the lamb.

We visited Ceno to celebrate my sons engagement,and it did not disappoint. Lorraine and her staff were truly exceptional and it was a very memorable day. Cenos is really one of the best roasts in Southampton without a doubt.

I hosted my best friends baby shower, and it was amazing. People are still talking about the food now! The bar staff did an amazing job, with a very busy bar and welcome drinks. Lorraine was so accommodating, and made it a very special day.

Spent a lovely few hours at Ceno’s for a baby shower celebration! Atmosphere was lovely and staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful! Food was awesome - good lunch choice selection and delivered to our tables by the lovely Lorraine. Definitely be returning to sample more food from the menu.

Me and a friend had dinner there a few nights ago, I have to say the food was amazing. My new favourite spot. The staff there were so welcoming, going above and beyond to make sure they cater for anyone and everyone. I highly recommend ceno if you haven’t already been down there.

Visited CENO this evening for a catch up with a friend. Lovely chilled atmosphere. We were met with really friendly greeting from Zoe & JC, and their great service continued throughout the time we were there. Opted for the 5 for £25 tapas, all of our choices were amazing, favourite was sticky lamb salads. We then opted for the mini desserts, definitely a great choice, all so tasty. Great place, friendly staff and gorgeous food.

Honestly a lovely time whenever i come here. Very kind and responsive staff and their service is always friendly and attentive. Great food and lively bar space. The garden is also lovely to sit it. Always a good time.

Upon arrival the staff was very welcoming and friendly, great drink selection and always served with a smile and great manners. When we ordered food we was recommended some of the popular dishes so a few of us followed the lady’s recommendation and they did not disappoint some of the best food we have all tasted at a great price. Had a lovely Sunday roast at Cenos, we Googled best Sunday roast in Southampton when we couldn't get a table at the Toby. And boy glad this place popped up, much better in my opinion. The sticky lamb salad starter was incredible. And the roast was well up there too. The potatoes could have been slightly smaller and crispier, but other than that it was a mean meal. As it's only down the road from us we'll be sure to be back.

Was recommended Ceno by a local friend. And he wasn’t wrong. The Sunday roast was amazing, nicely served with a good amount of everything you’d expect. This was the type of roast you’d get at a nice country pub, the chef and staff certainly run it very well. The food was absolutely lovely, all the food that was being argued looked just as good as ours was. Great parking facilities, Would recommend, large outside seating area aswell.

Wasn’t blown away by the food which is disappointing as pictures looked great however the night was saved by the great staff that night , they were all having fun and getting involved with all of us and even gave us a free round of drinks … spent a lot of money though

Sunday roasts amazing! Had the vegetable hash and all of it tasted as amazing as it smelt and looked. Sticky toffee pudding and lemon cake for pudding too was too good couldn't decide between the two, did split one with a friend who said the same. From start to Finnish the service , food , ambiance was all fantastic. We had the 5 taps starter which every plate was super tasty, my favourite was the sticky lamb salads . I then had the surf and turf , juicy well seasoned fillet...

The food here was absolutely phenomenal! We did end up with a tab of over £100 for two of us, but we ordered a lot of food and wanted to try a lot. On a second visit, this would drop and I'd say you could eat well here for around £25-30 a head. For starters we shared 3, the sticky lamb salad, fried chicken with massala mayo and the cheesy garlic focaccia. I'd have all 3 again to be honest. The chicken with flavourful and the focaccia was fantastic. But the lamb was incredible. A wonderful little romaine lettuce wrap with a fresh salad sitting under a sticky, crispy, warm lamb serving. For mains I had the surf and turf and my wife had the tajin chicken skewer. Both wonderful. The surf and turf comes with tempura prawns which were everything a tempura prawn should be. Light, juicy, crispy and well seasoned. it also came with 3 ribs, sticky and meaty. And a sticky beef fillet which was cooked to a medium rare. Although interestingly, I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. The confit potatoes with this dish were stunning. Crispy, crunchy and delicious. My wife's skewer was delicious, paired with an avocado salsa and a portion of fries. The only complaint is the flatbread was too crispy. It was just cracking. But the chicken, salad and salsa were a fantastic combination. For dessert they offer a taster mmset for £12. Mini versions of all 6 makn desserts, so we had to try that. The creme brulee, Eton mess and ice cream were my favourite. I'm a big brownie fan, but it wasn't great here. Tasted like a dry cake. The sticky toffee pudding was delectable but I imagine it could become a little too sickly with a larger helping. And the warm lemon cake was also delicious. All in all, I would and will definitely come back here again! And I'm waiting for the weather to cheer up a bit so I can sit outside in what looks like a fantastic al fresco option.

Ceno is a pleasant place to meet up with friends and have a drink or a meal. I find, though, that it can be noisy, especially with music constantly on.

There were 14 of us, and I had called to book a table on Saturday morning for the same day. Jessica was very friendly and helpful. She booked it quickly and greeted us at the entrance. It was my friend BD. We left the restaurant happy. 😊
