Umami Street Food in Portsmouth

Had to wait over an hour for our food to be delivered. When food arrived it was cold.

Great service, great food and a nice atmosphere, never been in before, will be coming back again as we've had a lovely time

!! The Allergen list on the website is incorrect as of March 2025 !! I've ordered so many times from here mostly deliveries but also in the restaurant too. The food is always delicious and I personally prefer Umami chicken and sauces over Nandos, Umami is one of my favourite places for over 8 years to eat from. I recommend the Lebanese, Lemon and Herb or hot sauce, be warned it is very hot! The chips are perfectly crispy and you get a good amount. Halloumi salad and ranch sauce is a great addition too. Personally I get Lemon and Herb chicken but with hot sauce to dip on the side and wings in hot sauce. The staff are really nice and helpful always and the restaurant is nice too but most of my orders have been deliveries or takeaways. Very few orders have ever had issues and those have been corrected quickly. March 2025 Uber order - I decided to try the Loaded Fries. The allergen list shows it was gluten free (I'm coeliac) on the Umami website and on my Uber eats I stated Gluten free. On opening it it had crispy onions, called the branch and confirmed it was crispy onions. I binned the fries and I'm annoyed at the waste of food, Uber have refunded the item. I ate the rest as the glutened food was in its own plastic container so thought I be ok... wrong either another unlisted ingredient change or cross contamination but I'm having the symptoms of consuming gluten. First time this has happened in years of having food from Umami. Was offered 'something free' in my next order as compensation which is kind and the girl on the phone was apologetic and it's not her fault but I doubt I'll be ordering again because of this. Accidental I can forgive, but changing ingredients without updating the allergen list is a lost of trust.

Amazing food, was really tasty, Erisa service was top class and was really helpful and friendly, We booked a table of 10 people and we were offered 3 complimentary dishes which were so tasty (thank you sam) One of the best restaurants in Portsmouth, can’t recommend this place enough 👌🏽

Dinner at Umami was nothing short of a feast! The portions? Absolutely massive—definitely not a place for light bites. I went for the Bubble Wrap (medium hot) and fell in love at first bite. The spice level was just right, and the flavors? Chef’s kiss! The Birria Tacos were juicy, flavorful, and everything you want in a taco—especially when dipped in that rich, savory broth. And let’s not forget the Umami Burger, which was a flavor bomb of its own. Everything was paired with Peri Peri Fries(because spice makes everything better) and washed down with the Infinity Tap—because unlimited drinks are always a win! Big portions, bold flavors, and serious food coma after—10/10, would absolutely do it all over again!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Umami Restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. I had tried their burger, wings and fries . The quality of the food were excellent. A special thank you to Erisa, wonderful waitress, for her warm hospitality. A huge shoutout to the talented chefs, ,Rubel and Iqbal who clearly put their heart and soul into every dish. Overall, Umami Restaurant is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough. Thank you, Umami, for an incredible dining experience! 🌟🍔🍟🍗

We love Umamis - best milkshakes, great chicken and peri chips for great price. Since leaving Portsmouth we still travel from Winchester to eat here!

The Shakes are top tier! The chocolate orange one is the one for me 🤘 The food is also brilliant! The chicken burger and wraps are especially good.

We had lunch here on Sunday, and it was fantastic! We were greeted and seated very quickly, we placed our order and it arrived about 15 mins later. The food was fresh and delicious! We had Birria tacos, katsu, smashed burger, chicken strips kids meal, an oreo milkshake and bottomless soft drinks. The only criticism is that the kids chicken strips were a bit overcooked, but the kids food was free, so can't complain too much! The service was also friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely go back again!

I ordered the food at 18:40, It showed me ETA as 19:05-1920 but arrived at 19:44. So I waited more than 1 hour since I ordered the food. The food was not cold but also was not hot either.
