Perfect fish and chips , 5 stars!!

Fish was beautifully cooked, not at all greasy and with a lovely light and crispy batter. Chips were also excellent. Will definitely be ordering from The Crispy Cod again.

Best fish & chips I've had for some time.

Food is decent, but it's a bit pricey and the amount of chips you get for the price is pretty poor.

First visit to The Crispy Cod tonight and it couldn't have been better. Service was delivered with charm and humour from a delightfully friendly young lady and the cod was delicious and very large! Best I've had in Portsmouth!

Lovely family owned business. Food is cooked to order, is simply delicious and well worth the wait. Tracey and Tony are lovely, nothing is too much bother. The shop looks clean and well presented.

Always friendly, they always remember regular orders and customers. I haven't ticked anything in recommended dishes, and it's all great, and I highly recommend Crispy Cod.

I asked for 0 sauce in the burger as I'm allergic but it had sauce in. contacted just eat and they said there's nothing they can do, so wasted money and food.

So first order must have been to impress 2nd order burger was so cold cheese didn't even melt stone cold chips and stone cold chicken nuggets only just round thr corner put me off won't order again 😒

The chicken and mushroom pie was delicious as was the apple pie . The chips and burger was also very good . Worth every penny

Had a delivery, absolutely lovely, thin crispy batter, lovely chips.

I don't know if it's just changed hands but the meal was basically oven fish and chips deep fried - ok cheap at a fiver each but barely any fish in the batter, what there was was grey and not very fresh smelling. won't be going there again, shame as was wonderful last time! husband walked down and sorted it out, presume he found the right place, it matched the description...

Nothing but praise, I rarely give a full 5 stars, but Crispy Cod is worth it. We live an hour away but will be back. Superb 😀 Thank you all

On hearing this is probably the top fish and chips in Portsmouth, we travelled from Camberley to see how accurate the reviews were. Well, they are fantastic! First class friendly and professional service, freshly cooked, great portion sizes and delicious! Very clean and tidy and good value for money! Having tried a few other local chippies in Portsmouth, in my humble opinion...the reviews are right!

Great shop, great staff, great food

Very disappointed been telling my son how fantastic the fish and chips were , finally he visits and the chips were quite dark brown and dry the fish was a bit chewy definitely not up to the excellent standards , the burger was excellent as usual.

Wow this was good! Some of the best fish and chips ever. Really can't say much more but it was by far the nicest piece of cod in the most incredible light crispy batter that I've ever had. Huge portion of onion rings for the price and a large chips will easily fill 4 normal people or 2 greedy people lol.

As in some of the other comments on Google it's on the pricey side and I would rate the fish and chips 7/10 with the batter dough and soggy in some places under the crispy outer which isn't my preference. No grease proof paper under either sets of chips neither the fish so the boxes become soggy with the fat so you need a carrier bag and I think they charge if you don't have your own to get grease in the inside.

After a very wet, cold day in Portsmouth we got a delivery from Crispy codlings and it was brilliant, service, quality and portion size where exceptional

This place is absolutely recommended to anyone who love fish and massive portions. I bought 2 large GF cod and 1 large portion of chips fed 3 adults and still left with another plates worth. The staff are absolutely amazing a massive thankyou to hayley and her amazing family.

Our regular chippy. Food is always superb. Tonight's takeaway was missing the curry sauce, though. That's the first time anything has been missing, but my husband was disappointed.

I cannot recommend this fish and chip shop enough. My order was late (I hadn’t put enough info on the delivery address) so technically it wasn’t late. The food was delivered the food within 10 minutes. I spoke to 2 ladies in the shop who were very nice and so helpful. The delivery lady was very apologetic and lovely.

Delicious hot freshly cooked chips

I failed using delivaroo to order the chips for my daughter I phoned the shop the lady was so kind to send out chips. Also she had tried to call prior to check but I missed the call. The fish is piping hot and so tasty 😋 my daughter is happy

We are very disappointed with our experience with Crispy cod. We have never had a problem but this time our 3 large cod’s were totally different sizes with excess batter and chips were not as good. Plus we have seen now that if you order through just eat our fish was £12.50 rather than shops prices plus the chips were more expensive than in the shop. A dinner turned out to be extremely expensive. Really disappointed. Won’t be eating with them again. I am very grateful to Just eat for sorting the price issue and have never had a problem with just eat and will continue to order food ( not from crispy cod) in the future.

Three large cod and three large chips £48 90 through just eat, Chips mediocre, Three cod in Two boxes, One box lovely large cod the other box Two much smaller cod and the batter was doughy definitely not worth the money.

So disappointing. My small cod was all batter (I can supply a photo) and a very small bit of dry fish. The chips were also dry. No mushy peas delivered. The child's cod meal was also all batter and a tiny bit of fish. So much waste. I won't be getting them again

After a long day at work and miserable weather, we decided fish and chips would go down well. Given that we are a port city, with a fishing industry (albeit small), the fish and chips available in Portsmouth really is quite poor. Until now that is…………The food from here was fantastic, proper sized pieces of well cooked cod and lovely chips. According to my wife, the team in here were also amazingly friendly, all backed by a 5 star food hygiene rating - a real hidden gem! We both said that arguably these were the best fish and chips that we have ever had in Portsmouth, by a very long way. We will happily return and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks team and keep up the good work!

First time getting good here - always a little apprehensive when trying a new place. Probably the cleanest chippy I’ve ever been in😂 served by a super smiley, friendly lady. Food was very quick although I’m happy to wait and there were many orders ahead. The batter was super! Crunchy, crispy, not greasy and surprisingly light for chippy batter. Chips were good too! Decent priced and a good meal. Definitely will be back!

Not the same as it was, chips are not the same anymore (as in the way they are cut, used be be real chunky chips) portion size has noticeably reduced (chips), your boxes may be bigger but our plates are the same size and do not lie, fish is spot on, prices have rocketed. £27 delivered for 2 x large cod and 1 x large chips (and a curry sauce), same meal was £21 18/24mths ago (and better), nearly 30% increase?

Hot food delivered on time, battered sausage with nice, chips were hot, but looked and tasted strange, not sure what type of oil these were cooked in. Upset my stomach a bit. Shame as the rest was good.

Brilliant independent fish and chip shop.

We visited The Crispy Cod on 26th May 2023. Excellent takeaway fish and chips. The haddock portions were large, fresh and cooked to order. They were coated in a crisp and tasty batter. Chips were good and plentiful.

I have had pleasant experience having their chicken burgers but this time it was not very great getting the fully oil soake flaky onion rings. I hope the service can be improved in this area.

After being disappointed a few times by Deep Blue on the main road we thought we'd give this place a try. It's much better! It appears to be a family run business so they actually care about what they're doing. For us it's just right to pick up some Fish and Chips on the way to our nearby allotment. The food is good and not as pricey as Deep Blue. The variety on offer is better too.

I was very very disappointed with my order today, it was not worth £35!! Not hot, hardly any chips and the fish at £9 per piece was mainly batter. I would like a refund please, so dissatisfied
