Tyacks Hotel Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Went in for a Sunday Roast with my family. We had a reservation and were seated early which was nice. However, after waiting several minutes no one took our drink order so we went to the bar. The bartender was overwhelmed with orders, had no help and service was obviously slow. We wait 30+ minutes to be given notification it was our turn to queue for the carvery. 3 groups who arrived after us were served before us; frustrating. The food was nice. No one returned to the table to check on us, take additional drink orders or take dessert requests. So overall, the carvery was nice but the service was poor, left a lot to be desired.

Friendly staff, good food, reasonable room rates and nice rooms. Excellent breakfasts, don't try the Jack's unless you have a BIG appetite. Stick with the Jill's! Beers are well kept. Enjoy.

After yet another stay at Tyack's, I am again praising its overall excellent standards. My room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast excellent in quality, range and delivery, and the overall ethos welcoming and relaxing, emanating in large part from the professional organisation and unremittingly helpful and courteous staff.

Booked at short notice, and pleased to find such a great place. Excellent value for money with friendly staff, great food, and nice rooms. Will stay again when in the area.

Nice hotel, old and full of character right in the centre of town free parking and lovely breakfast included in the price. And very friendly and helpful staff. A few issue's that affected my stay was that the walls are paper thin, but the hotel is old, so I can forgive that. But the room I stayed in was directly above the pub, and in particular directly above the room that has a disco, that starts at 9pm and finishes at 12pm I stayed on a Saturday night, and understood it's the same on Friday. I know I was staying in a pub and expect a little noise, but this was deafening and constant for 4 hours, most importantly no mention of this when I booked, and although the staff were amazing the didn't seem to surprised when I reported the issue when I left. Sadly, I wouldn't stay here again.

Very poor. Walked in this morning and said hello to a staff member who eventually managed to reply. Asked if they do a vegan breakfast and instead of a simple yes or no she just said "menus are over there" so checked out the menu and decided a veggie breakfast would work for me so went to sit down. Same staff member waited for us to choose a table to sit before telling us it was the wrong area. Went to the bar to order as was told no I'm not allowed to swap the egg so we eventually left. I can go to spoons across the road and get better service and a vegan breakfast for half the price.

Tyacks is the dogs. They have the friendliest staff. Sitting in a window seat and watching the world go by whilst eating their ace food and drinking outstanding beer is one of life's great pleasures

On weekends their bar just below the rooms is very loud to the point that the floors vibrate. We complained to the manager and she told us that this is pointed out on the website. We booked via Booking.com and I after checking now I saw the info is indeed there - if you scroll down about 7 screen lengths and click on a field.

We were there on a Friday night and there was really loud music in the bar right below. The bed was literally shaking and the music clearly hearable in the hotel room. That‘s unreasonable from a hotel to sell such rooms where you can’t sleep until midnight!

Spent a couple of nights here and found it very welcoming. Staff were great and room comfortable, though the bathroom was looking a little tired and in need of some love. The band on Friday night were good.

Quality food and courteous staff

Fantastic hotel, great food and service. The bathroom ls are very modern, but the rooms aren't. The pillow cases and sheets smelt stale so we had to ask for fresh ones. It's very centrally located, so you do get a lot of noise. It's on an island, so as the double decker buses turned, the top floor could look right into our room. The TV signal didn't work until staff stuck the wire to the wall with blue tack. All in all, not too bad, but room for improvement with the rooms.

Things have certainly changed for the worse here . Quite lunchtime terrible fish and chips chunky chips extremely hard and tasteless fish small compared to a large amount of greasy batter . Maybe a bad choice but used to be outstanding here

We stayed 1 night as a stop over. Breakfast was amazing, freshly cooked, and served quickly. We chose Tyack as it is also dog friendly.

Amazing food, great selection of drinks, brilliant atmosphere but the best thing about all of it is the staff. They're amazing. Friendly, funny and normal down to earth people.

The food was of a good quality. However, it was let down by the presentation. It seems that every dish comes with two pea shoots as something. Sadly it was not artistic nor a salad. I had a gammon steak, it really did not need pea shoots. Also not including sides like chips or new potatoes is bad. Nobody is going to have just a gammon with two pea shoots.

Having stayed there several times (back again in a few weeks -really looking forward to it) I can honestly say it's a wonderful place in a nice little town. The rooms are always exceptionally clean and well serviced and maintained. The staff are all very professional and friendly. The food is totally out of this world, the breakfast is a total wow and the atmosphere that time of the day is so calming, relaxing and quiet too. I always find it incredibly reasonably priced as well. For those who don't know Camborne, it's sort of smack in the middle of all the wonderful things Cornwall has to offer. Anyway guys, keep up the good work and I will keep coming back ok?

5* Superb carvery . Meat was cooked perfectly . Vegetables fresh. Overall a lovely lunch . Service was also good. Friendly staff.

Great service, doorstop BLT sandwich was delicious and very generous portion for the £8 price. Haven’t been to the Tyacks in years but we will definitely return 👍🏻

Excellent service. Was there for a 60th birthday, Catered for 36 of us without a limited menu, we preordered our food and it came all freshly cooked and hot, couldn’t have asked for else . Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

I come here for a carvery most Sundays. I love it! But today it was out of this world! I loved everything on my plate. All seasoned perfectly! I also really enjoy the fantastic service by the girls :) Nik always makes sure we are well looked after. Thanks Tyacks for another wonderful experience :)

It's not that fair to review this hotel too harshly as we only stayed one night and it was a pretty last minute booking. Still my bed was broken and, as we got in at midnight after a gig, I felt it would be fairly pointless trying to get it sorted. The staff were exemplary and very hospitable. The breakfast was fantastic, even the filter coffee was drinkable!

Central Camborne, functional, wetherspoon "feel". Food comes across home made and very tasty, fast service. Ales at the right temperature. Perfectly pleasant.

Popped in for lunch. What a mistake. The restaurant was empty, which is never a good sign. No staff could be seen, so we walked through to the small bar area, which was unmanned, and waited for a couple of minutes. A young guy came out to serve us and provided us with a menu and list of specials. Not fancying anything we saw, we were about to leave when the man told us, "I've only worked here a couple of weeks, but the food is really good!" Oh my god, what rubbish had this man been eating all his life. We ordered 2 dishes from the specials to share as a starter and 2 dishes from the menu for our main meals. We got drinks, paid and went to sit down. This was the point we started to regret our decision. The table top was sticky, there was a sour smell of old beer and we started to get dive bombed by the previously unnoticed swarm of flies. Not small flies I should add, but big, fat mature beasties. We counted 13 buzzing around. Another omen! We had ordered crispy King prawns and a steak flatbread to come first. We got 4 soggy prawns in a thick, doughy batter on a bed of mixed leaves that were wilting with a small amount of cheap, low quality sweet chilli sauce. That was the better of the 2 dishes. The flatbread was embarrassing. What I guess was a 4oz steak cooked medium rare, sliced into 6 pieces, then placed on top of more limp mixed leaves with some red onion, tomatoes and cucumber all smothered in cheap generic garlic sauce. This was located on top of what can only be described as a budget, low quality, bought in bread base. I'm not sure if it was slightly stale or only part baked, but it reminded me of the base from an uncooked tesco value pizza. It was about 5mm thick, white with zero colour anywhere on it. Both dishes were absolutely pants! 1 out of 10 for each dish and at £22 for the pair an absolute disgrace. Thankfully, the mains were better, not good, but better. Tuna and cheese toastie, with broken crisps and a small side salad (6/10) the best of the meal Cheese burger (3/10)that was dripping with fat and overcooked chips. Not the worst burger I've ever had, but not even up to the quality I would expect from a chippie or burger van. The chips were laughable. Obviously a better quality frozen product but whoever cooked them must have given them at least 5 minutes more time in the fryer than they needed. We called over the barman about the constant harassment from the flying pests and was told he didn't understand why they had flies as they had a bug zapper. Let me answer the mystery for you. Your restaurant and bar need a damn good clean! We left without finishing the food. Opposite the site was a large Witherspoons. We wanted to support a local business over a pubchain. In this instance, it was our mistake. I read reviews online rating the place highly but can't imagine why people would write such complementary reviews. I spent £50.20 including a pint of coke and a J2O. What a waste of money

Unable to comment on the rooms as we only visited the bar/ restaurant area ( these being very pleasant) Food and drinks are competitively priced and of good quality. The staff are very pleasant and helpful . Well behaved dogs are allowed in the bar area - where food can be eaten. Tyacks is located in Camborne Town centre and clearly attracts local people who welcome the very pleasant atmosphere.

A distinctly average dinning experience, a little overpriced for what it is, completely marred by the parking sting. Be sure you don’t get hit with a parking charge…..how any business like this these days expects paying patrons to pay for onsite parking also, you have been warned.

Been to the tyacks on a numerous occasions, through work, food is good, not expensive, they have a pool table, sky sports for any footie fans,and a nice restaurant for the more quieter occasion.

Absolutely lovely starter carvery , ice cream ok food very good , just a shame about waitress ( with dark rimmed glasses ) very surly, and could adopt a sense of humour! Needs a few people skills

We had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, spacious and well equipped with seating. Downstairs, the bar was good as was the food. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast very good. Overall, nothing to complain about and would not hesitate to stay again.

Food was good sleeping a little noise but you could understand seeing the location in the center.so pleasant stay I bin in many countries many hotels that were much more expensive and had less atmosphere, this is really English. Decent pub grub and friendly service. I had steak with mash and gravy which was tasty. The only thing I found a bit odd was that they price everything separately, mash, veg etc. I was too full for a pudding on this occasion.

Booked a family meal and table reserved and ready. Extensive menu and specials menu. Good vegetarian options. Had 2 very hungry sons and the portions satisfied their appetites. I had a lovely steak nicely cooked. Son had fish pie which he said was really nice. Side orders all very generous and good value. Waiting staff very helpful and food arrived quickly. Puddings impressive. Large portions and sticky toffee pudding to be recommended especially with the clotted cream!! Would strongly recommend a meal here.

I came here with my friend and partner. We have come here a lot in the past and have really enjoy the atmosphere and food. Certain things have changed, which in the inflation of the cost of living I do understand. We always order the lasagne because it is very yummy - usually it used to come with salad and chips and a slice of garlic bread. Most meals now - including steak do not come with chips, if you want chips you have to order them separately which are an extra £4/£5 which are on the side menu. Originally I was a little bit miffed about this, but when the chips came out, they were in a huge bowl/plate and their was plenty for at least 2 people, we also ordered some onion rings which were absolutely huge and very delicious. Definitely enough for 2/3 people sharing. The food was still delicious and the staff were friendly.

What a nightmare the weekends are loud music banging out till the early hours then crowds of pissed up idiots milling around for hours. Food was OK had better. Probably better in the week but all in all never again.

This place does the most brilliant food especially the specials . We come regularly and are never disappointed.

A hotel with ambience . Plenty of space when dining a varied menu in comfortable surroundings. Situated in the centre of Camborne Cornwall. If its just a coffee ☕ or something more 😌 satisfying you will find it at Tyacks Hotel.

10/10 food. Brilliant live music. It was suggested we visit this bar for dinner and drinks by our local hotel whilst visiting Cornwall for my brother wedding, this is a must go for authentic fabulous Cornwall dining and Booz. Love it…. Until last orders when an 18 year old vomited Booz on my doc martins at the bar: hey we’ve all been there… right? 🤣

The hotel is old and creaky in parts. The food restaurant is clean and tidy but they do let dogs in whilst you dine. The bar is a friendly area with a good range of beers and ciders. Beware the bathroom in room 15 , its a hazard .... Shower curtain too long - trip hazard. Shower head too low - if you're over 4 ft tall its an issue. No slip mat in bath ( though i was offered one on the last evening) Finding the car park is a chore at first. All in all i wouldn't have booked it if I'd known it was THAT dog friendly and the breakfast waitress shouldn't have been letting the dog jump up at her and stroking it whilst attending to other peoples food.

Sticky floor and not enough staff. It took me 15 minutes to get served for a drink. The only good thing is the bands that play there.

Warm welcome from all the staff, stayed in room 1, large and exceptionally clean, liked the 4 poster bed and a roll top bath, good selection of teas, coffee etc in the room. Really good Cornish breakfast in the morning. Right in the center of town.

Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The service was fantastic, we loved the food and the dog loved all the attention. Without exception there was a cheery welcoming feel. We will be back.

I ordered a ciabatta and it was harder than Ron Jeremy's pork sword. The beef was so dry I questioned if it was biltong. The coleslaw was the just a white gloopy goo with no taste I thought maybe the chef was too exited and relieved him self on some cabbage.
