Very nice food and excellent service. There were no prawn crackers on the menu but they put some on the table for us gratis which was a nice touch.

Just come back from Twins for celebration meal for our 55th wedding anniversary with family, very disappointed, service was terrible and food could have been better! Think they value take away orders prior to actual customers, ruined our evening !

Visited Twins to get a takeaway again and felt I needed to write this review. We ordered our takeaway, sat and had a small bottle of Tsingtao beer while we waited where staff were friendly and accommodating. Food when we got home was as delicious as we have ever had from Twins and at a reasonable price. If you haven’t tried Twins either sit down or takeaway, try it and assess for yourself, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Food lovely, staff lovely, good prices, great menu. Will be returning soon. The place was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday.

My First time using twins restaurant and was very disappointed, ordered chicken balls, chips and prawn crackers took 50 minutes to arrive. When meal arrived the food was cold and was wrapped in bags and food was soggy as it had been left in the bags for too long and when cutting into the chicken balls the batter was very soggy and undercooked. Unfortunately this was a very poor first experiences considering it was such a small meal ordered i am very disappointed.

Very quiet for a bank holiday Monday. Good choice on the menu from normal to very odd. Food is average and average price. Wine is well priced. Ok meal for an ok price.

A great find if ever you are in Portsmouth. Lots of traditional Chinese dishes as well as typical dishes for Europeans. Lovely staff too. Possibly the best Chinese restaurant I know in the UK outside of Chinatown.

Good selection and friendly service

Warm welcome, food was beautifully cooked, drinks were of a reasonable price , service very friendly. There were 4 of us and we had the mixed starter plus chicken dumplings the portions were generous and the quality was great. We had for our mains Singapore noodles, beef chow main , sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style and special fried rice . All were hot fresh and delicious . This was our first visit and we will definitely return.

The usual pleasant welcome and an excellent choice of Chinese dishes. The spare ribs were meaty and full of flavour. The aromatic duck was fresh off the bone...unlike many other restaurants where there is diced duck..bought in. Food and wine are of sensible prices. I recommend Twins to all.

Just left this restaurant and the only thing I faulted prior to leaving was the skin on the duck in orange sauce, for a dish that you are meant to eat whole heartedly it was a let down, because the skin was left fat and uncrisped. But then one man left the restaurant after paying £66 and the goodbye response was pour. And it was cold in the restaurant.

Just average, not horrible, but bland like eating eating a child's ready meal. But it is what is I guess, at least its food

Twins have the most amazing food and service. Unfortunately, due to the quality of the food, we now come on a regular basis and have gotten to know the very friendly staff. Really just an outstanding restaurant and super staff.

Had takeaway delivery via Uber and was the best Chinese takeaway I have had for years. Good portion size arrived hot and delicious flavours.

My partner ordered a takeaway from Twins through Uber. The only decent thing was the bag. My son's meal was ok, but not enough. The chicken and pineapple was very bland, it had no onions or veggies, the chicken was tasteless, like it had not been cooked enough. We won't be ordering anything again from this establishment.

Really rude staff went for buffet menu but now you need a gold vip card glad i went for curry next door at least they appreciate our money. Don’t waste your time

This place is well below standard please be aware then ordering the food you must complete your food on your dish before being allowed to carry on you are treated as a child and the response that you get when leaving a review is utterly disgusting my advice would be not to go and save your money and go somewhere else

A reasonable buffet experience not far apart from the run of the Mill however the pictures make it look like an up market Chinese serving what looks like really good food however we chose the buffet. everything was going well we ate the starters we got the Duck but when it came to ordering in the mains the staff member turns round and says you haven't finished the Duck you need to finish the duck before you move on I looked at him puzzled and said politely there's just bones there and fat we've eaten all the meat he look surprised he looked at me removed the dish with an experience waiter he should have seen what was left on the plate we were allowed to continue absolutely disgusted how dare he decide whether we've cleared our plate like children we refuse to pay the so-called 10% service charge which these restaurants are being very cleverly adding onto the bill the right to remove wasn't an option we were told we would do it kindly this time but next time we won't sorry for this place they won't be a next time we won't be coming back what these places need to remember that everybody that's coming in has paid the stupid £14 pounds to come into Portsmouth clean air payment and then have to put up a stupidness like this you're meant to come here for a good time not leave disappointed ..... about time review read and what a complete waste of time your response was eat as much as you can we did we cleared the plates I do hope this is put everybody off going here there's a shame I didn't read the reviews before I went myself what an embarrassment

Only thing I’m disappointed with is the batter as it inconsistent sometimes it is crispy and last two times the batter has been very doughy and seems uncooked but the rest of the food is brilliant

Ordered takeaway and it was just dull, bland and rubbish. Crispy chilli beef was soggy sweet and sour. The crispy chilli tofu was rawand the egg fried rice was just boiled rice with scrambled egg mixed in. Oh the spring rolls were soggy and tasteless and had obviously come from the local wholesaler's. Overall just boringly average naf food

It is pretty challenging to dine out when you want to have Chinese. This was one of the rare non-takeaway-only places. So we were surprised about the menu. The waiter confessed that the Dim Sum was not homemade. So I ordered something different. I had better Chinese food with more decoration and passion, but it was not wrong. What I did not honor: serving all courses at once.

No atmosphere, really poor service due to their concentration being on online deliveries, and the food was seriously cheap and nasty. The dumplings were burnt like toast and no one said a word despite it being really obvious. The chicken dish was rubbery and dry and made me feel ill eating it. The other food was equally horrid. Just dreadful.

I lived in Shanghai for well over a decade and Twins is the only restaurant I have been to in the UK with and authentic mainland Chinese flavour, and a great selection of dishes. The hot dishes are properly spicey. My only minor complaint about the food is that their mapo tofu is made with chopped bbq pork rather than mince, but that is extremely minor and it still tastes great. They also have a British Chinese style menu with all the familiar favourites. We went mid-week and even so they were very busy. Have ordered delivery a few times and the food is always as good as it is when we est in the restaurant.

Great quality. Authentic menu as well as an "English menu with UK versions of chines cuisine" Staff are attentive. Worth a visit even with a big group of you.

By far one of the finest Chinese restaurants I've come across outside of China! This place offers a delightful blend of a authentic Chinese menu and a optional English tailored menu, providing an incredible dining experience. I highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you appreciate accommodating spice levels. Not to mention, the customer service provided by Edmund was truly exceptional. Five stars!

I ordered sauerkraut fish and tofu preserved egg, both were delicious; I had to pack an extra portion of sauerkraut fish later. They packed it very carefully. After an hour's drive home, the soup didn't leak at all.

Had spring rolls, quarter duck and beef chow mein. Very tasty food, great portions and the wee waiter with blonde hair was very sweet.

On the plus side the house red was perfectly acceptable and reasonably priced. The service was good but not exactly cheery. Sadly the food was pretty appalling. When I'm still hungry towards the end of a meal and there's food on the table I'll always eat it, I hate seeing food go to waste, but even I couldn't stomach anymore of the Fried rice and crispy chilli shredded beef. With so many good reviews perhaps we just went on a bad night but to be served such a poor imitation of Chinese food was very disappointing. The place was almost empty so maybe they have let standards drop?

We had dinner in this restaurant and stayed satisfied. The staff was also very helpful to advise on menu. Moreover the price of the food was very reasonable.

Definitely deserves more than 3.9 stars,don't even understand how they got it so low). Went for all you can eat hotpot tonight, good value, good flavour and good mix your own sauce station. Really good and friendly service too that would even spontaneously come and ask you if you want to order more food(its all you can eat) The taste is definitely authentic. Can't wait to come again and order normal dishes again next time(if you want things to be authentic, ask for the non English menu lol)

First Chinese takeaway I've had since moving to Portsmouth. Not convinced 🐔 chicken chow mein was real chicken, I fear for my stomach. The texture of this chicken was slimy and rubbery, in addition the whiteness of it only confirms my belief of it being some fake meat substitute or another specie entirely. In their defence the black bean beef stir fry was satisfactory. The stir fried vegetables had a bland sauce and was underwhelming. I would not recommend this Chinese unless you are fond of unappealing unappetising food.

One of the best Chinese restaurants places I have ever been would definitely recommend it the atmosphere is amazing. The service is phenomenal the food can’t get any better had starter main and dessert been here a lot of times have never been disappointed

Had a message to say food was ready for collection when we ordered delivery. Meal was a long time getting to us. Food was awful for the money. We had spare ribs, duck pancakes , chicken balls and egg fried rice. The ribs were fatty. The soy sauce for the duck was watery. The chicken balls were huge and were mainly batter and hardly any egg in the egg fried rice. Just a waste of money and I left mine because it was tasteless.

Excellent authentic Chinese food from the Sichuan menu

Always love coming to Twins for their All You Can Eat menu. Such a great range of food, cooked very fast and the service is always very friendly. Will continue to come back, always a fantastic experience!

The best hot pot around, well served but missing few vegetables to be perfect!

We took advantage of their all-you-can-eat deal and wasn't disappointed. You choose the dishes as and when you want them and they bring them out when they're ready. Felt like we were tasting authentic Sichuan(?) cuisine. Nice ambience to eat in, although there was rowdy family who were kicking off about the price for some reason, but the staff handled it in a professional and respectful way. We'll certainly be back!

Honestly I just had the worst Chinese meal of my life. We had szechuan beef, plain chow mein pork rice and beef ho fun. The meal was bland and tasted of nothing, my friend who is Asian was also extremely disappointed. This was a treat for us, and frankly an absolute waste of £40. Plain chow mein consisted of noodles covered in soy, the beef was very chewy, and I would never ever eat there again. The staff were pleasant but that's the only good thing I have to say. As a lover of Asian cuisine I am appalled by the meal, there was no flavour at all. We barely ate our food.

I have eaten here for a number of years, and I think it’s the third owner i have known. The choices are 1. all you can, 2. hotpot, 3.main menu. The all you can is £26 per head, so not the cheapest in town, but I think it is definitely the best! Staff are great and don’t complain if you leave something to move on to another course. The portions are big (I think some all you can only serve small portions to stop you over ordering) it’s not a buffet, everything is cooked to order, they do duck and pancake with the “all you can” menu, but also Mongolian lamb, you can even have both. The sizzling beef with peppers was amazing. They have a full bar menu, but I saw tables with BYO so I might call ahead next time to check on that. The main menu looked tempting, so did the hotpot…. I will be back 👍🏼

Very nice ~~~Finally found a super delicious Chinese restaurant. Beef noodles, grilled fish, and spicy crayfish are my favorites! Especially the grilled fish~~so great! Before the lockdown, I went to eat grilled fish almost every two days. Unfortunately, grilled fish cannot be taken away...otherwise I would definitely order it every day. Hahahahahaha. Now it is almost my first canteen in Chongqing👍I sincerely recommend it to all foodies. It’s really good😋

We used to visit this restaurant very often. But this time may be the last day :(. . Foods are not tasted as they are supposed to. Very salty They refused the fault even though we tried to explain I do not recommend this restaurant anymore.

I walked by, saw a lot of people which for me is already a sign that it is a good place to eat. I had a king prawn curry and it was great! Good portion, not too much not too little. I had it served with egg fried rice.

I will be fair to this restaurant. I had a nice Thai green curry, and my wife had a nice duck and orange sauce, but the shredded beef had a very strange taste almost like Aniseed. I asks the staff to remove it from the bill and he refused. I Won't be going back. The place was empty which should have been a warning.

We went to have dinner. We share a hot pot buffet menu (house original and spicy) and everything was perfect. The portions of all ingredients were huge and the service was extremely nice. We definitely recommend it for 2 or bigger groups!!

Probably shouldn’t have ordered our food from here on the Chinese New Year as the restaurant takeaway was probably busy. Very disappointed in our meal - the half crispy duck wasn’t in the slightest crispy and only came with 12 pancakes. Plenty of meat but...

Absolutely amazing takeaway. Got the set dinner for 4 plus a few other bits and it was the best Chinese I’ve ever had. Would 100% recommend and order again, if I could give more stars I would. We all loved it.

The worst meal we have had to endure! As it was the last day for the eat out offer we decided to visit- big mistake! The waitresses could hardly understand us as they had very little English experience, they then lost our drink orders and after waiting for 25mins when we asked for our drinks they then said they had to re take it. The food was cold, no flavour and they decided to give us a dish that had no meat in it with no apology. There was more onions then anything else with 3-4 bits of meat. The “manager” started a loud argument with the table next door which was for along the same issues- they paid for their starters and left as he was so rude to them. He was exactly the same with us, and he then said he should have charged us 60p for a plastic container but discounted it!! Instead of being apologetic and understanding he basically told us that it’s their way or the highway! The food is awful and I would not recommend this place - you will waste your money!! I was then asked to contact them via their email for this review (see reply below) which turned out to be a fake email address- it was just used to make the restaurant look apologetic from the review.

Fast delivery, great food and special instructions read and actioned.

I happened to be in the area of this restaurant just last friday. Lovely weather etc having a wander.Noticed this restaurant open.The first menu was not that inspiring given another one which I was told by a young man we only give this one to chinese people.I should have left then but looked at the menu asked about a sechuan dish if it was authentic or made with sweet chilli sauce. Well that was it ,started screaming and shouting that it was just a name on the menu he did not know it was a region in china.I cook with said peppercorn, still screaming and shouting asked me where I bought it. His mother and father or grandparents then walked in he struck the little lady as all cowards do and the husband did absolutely nothing. If he stays he will ruin what looked like on the surface a nice restaurant.

Delivery was fine but the chilli beef was poor with no chilli!

'Fried Chicken' it tasted like boiled chicken and lacked flavour! This food was disgusting and had to get a refund, on the other hand they were happy to refund the 30 pound.
