Cosy cafe, great food, prices and deals. I’ve been coming here for about 10 years. A great mix of both traditional takeaway (e.g. chicken balls, curry sauce, etc) and authentic Asian meals. Lots of choice, the menu is extensive. I’ve had both takeaway and dine-in, all lovely. Very big portions, I usually have to leave some rice over.

Really good food. Ordered a set menu for two and it did not disappoint

The worst chinese I have eaten. Bland , everything was and as for the hoisin sauce it was so watered down it made the pancakes rip apart. 🤮

Best Chinese I've had in Portsmouth. Don't usually leave reviews but this was worth it. Delivery driver very friendly, good value, food was hot and very tasty. Definitely recommend the chilli shredded beef and chicken balls

Absolutely incredible and authentic Chinese food for a very affordable price! My boyfriend studied in Portsmouth back in 2015 and had amazing Chinese food here including braised pork hock which is rare to find. Now every time when we visit from London, we must have a meal from here! The pork hock is so tender, although a bit salty. We tried the Cantonese roast duck and it was so good! The sauce was a tad too sweet but the meat was so tender and the sides are crispy. Simply divine! As a Cantonese myself, the food options here and price are so so much suited for my palate compared to London restaurants. FYI, we’ve never dined in after COVID so I can’t comment on the atmosphere. Gave 5 star because Google insists I give it a rating.

Just had a mixed meat curry first time I have used this place very tasty good portion fast delivery would recommend. So moving on after many orders of great food why why why has no takeaway have the ability to be consistent just had mixed meat curry turn up that was obviously frozen congealed to be only containing square chicken beef and mushroom not as advertised very stogie and poor you've let yourself down after a great review disappointed 😞

Great take away! Price are on the higher side but IT IS worth every penny! The portion sizes are very generous. My only comment is that delivery took a while. Will definitely order from here again! I highly recommend the beef in satay sauce and the crispy pork belly!

This is a cafe style restaurant with take away service. The food was fresh, hot & tasty, big portions! The service was very friendly.

Some really addictive egg fried rice and chilli oil, nice cute service by a young family. Wouldn't recommend the beef though the meat tasted strange and too soft but other portions were massive with nice fresh vegetables, I got the prawns for £8 thank you!

Lemon chicken great, soup great, omelette great, chicken chow mein not good at all!! Soggy noodles that are stuck together and chopped up (broken noodles by being old and re cooked) not happy at all. Not normal chow mein and not great first impression

while the food was good, the chicken satay skewers I ordered had broken pieces of skewers in multiple pieces of chicken. they were very small pieces, I choked on one and then has to shred the chicken to check for more and there was multiple. normally I'm not one to complain but I could have died and it wasn't nice at all to experience so need to make you aware of this!!!

I waited and waited and eventually had to contact Uber eats to refund me as the food never arrived, this is the second time I’ve had trouble here.

Normally really decent, this time it showed up and everything we ate was vile. Yellow tasteless rice, chicken balls with grey stuff inside and greasy soggy chips. Not gonna risk ordering again

Order arrived over an hour late and awful customer service when I rang to find out where my food was.

Order chilli chips! They were not chilli and the price has gone up to £4.50!!! I am a regular customer but I am not happy about this and this will be the last time I come in golden bowl. It was empty plain chips!!

Salt and chilli chicken wings for the wife, she raved over them huge portion, well cooked, nice crispy exterior. Beef curry and rice for me, super huge portion, I ate half and took the other half home for dinner. Staff are really friendly and helpful. I have been working nearby and I used to go here to get a nice portion of well cooked food. Usually without rice or noodles, which as I found out today was a good choice based purely on portion size. Good produce, cooked fresh, tasty food, great size portions and budget friendly. What more do you want or need.

Just collected food from here, a Chinese curry with rice chips and a chicken chowmein, chowmein was dry noodles had a stale taste, the chicken curry was a whole new level of awful a congealed texture and tasted of washing up liquid, the chips were a mixture of fresh amd old I think and even found odd bits of what seemed like almost a onion ring or something, either way the whole lot went on the bin £20 wasted! Lesson learnt will never use again and hopefully this review give people heads up before wasting there money to.

Moved around the corner from here as a student and love this place! My partner and I have ordered from here many times and will do much more. Very pleasantly surprised by the king prawns in cheese sauce. Staff are very kind and friendly.

I ordered through uber eats and am vegetarian. I had meat in my vegetable spring rolls but when I phoned they tried to claim that there isn’t any possible way that there could be when I definitely tasted and saw meat. Will not be ordering from them again.

Gone up loads. From£11 to £12.30 When website states different...not the same, bland but the foxes probably enjoyed the sinewy chicken balls ! Delivered by an OAP who couldnt manage the stairs when delivery to door was requested Actually quite sh@te never again. £2.50 to deliver 2 mins away .crap food.. give it a miss ..pay a bit mote for food that actually has flavour ! This was sadly good ! Now it is absolutely gross..avoid !

Very poor takeaway, sweet and sour sauce was not nice and tasted more like a plum sauce.. how can a Chinese restaurant / takeaway get sweet and sour sauce so wrong 😡 far better options for a Chinese in the Portsmouth area, don’t let yourself be let down by this sub standard establishment.

One of the best Chinese food on whole South Coast! Thank you auntie! From Cat ,Ana and Robert I came back every time I want someone authentic was ern taste. I cannot wait the place to open again not just st for take away.

Worst Chinese I've ever had !!!! The chips are awfull full of fat and zero potatoe! Kids wouldn't even eat them also the honey bbq ribs mostly fat and no meat. Wouldn't order again ever.

We had a lovely meal delivered to us. I had the pork fried rice and it was excellent. The vegetable spring rolls were good too. The people moaning about the delivery charges could always walk and pick up their food. Just a thought.

You will get really small portion sizes. I paid 7.50 + delivery fees for dumplings. I ended up with a box of 4 really small dumplings. They were not very nice but mostly annoyed with money I've been scammed out of. Really dont even bother, you will end up dissapointed

This was not a good experience. We have used this place twice. The first time was nice, but the second time was terrible and we will never use them again. We live around the corner from this takeaway, but it took 1 hour 30 mins to get our food. I called three times, only to be told it was on its way. I said I lived around the corner, but they kept making excuses. You have to pay for delivery, which is unusual as we had spent £60 and the food is not that good value. When it eventually arrived the food was warm and not great quality.

I have just wasted 15 pound on what I would call dog food..but even my dog won't eat it.. house special chow mein and Hong Kong style chicken..i feel sick.. the beef looks like its been scraped off a floor and tastes worse

Delicious and amazing! One of the rare Chinese takeaways that serves fantastic authentic homemade Cantonese delights like crispy pork and soft belly pork with picked mustard veg ( unavailable at most other regular Chinese takeaways). Huge portions, extensive menu, don't be fooled by the small shop front! Speedy delivery, friendly efficient staff, I am extremely happy as a repeat customer!

It’s a great Chinese food shop, but the prices have gone up , which isn’t too bad- but as a single person my order is around £9 usually and NOW there is a £2.50 delivery cost and I SIMPLY WONT PAY IT. I live less than half a mile away. They must be loosing more business than just me.

Amazingggg food staff are very friendly I remember when i lived in Portsmouth a very long time ago i use to order from them every week. I would recommend the chicken with black beans sauce.

Great food at a great price, best for take away as the facilities are a little limited in space but I am more than happy to admit that the value for money is right here! Staff members are efficient at their line of work and will attend you with modals and good manners. 5 Stars!

It is literally one of the best Chinese’s around. But the £2.50 delivery will kill them off. I generally have £9s worth of food for one and now that’s £11.50. I’ll go to a cheaper place . THANKS

First and last time I use this place, all the food was oily and been in the microwave, their chips are fries?? What’s that about!? Do yourself a favour and avoid, literally the whole dinner went in the bin :(

The family and I have been going here since it opened many years ago. The food quality has gone down slightly over the years, we have noticed that a lot of the dishes are now padded out with a lot of onions and celery (it’s cheap) whereas it wasn’t before but it is still one of the better Chinese cafes in the city. There is a whole ‘authentic Chinese’ menu at the back which is now translated into English thankfully as I can’t read Chinese, order from this menu as it’s a massive step up from the boring takeaway rubbish of sweet and sour, chicken chow mein etc. Get the curry or satay brisket, the whole fried fish, pork knuckle or any other dish from that menu, you won’t be disappointed. Also there is generally a lot of Chinese people/students eating in which is always a sign that the food is good. Small and slightly cramped seating area but perfectly adequate to get some food.

Honestamente, una de las mejores comidas chinas en el Reino Unido: se siente como comida casera. Me alojé en portsmouth durante dos días, y tuve que volver! ! Abundante, cálido, buena comida. Dueño encantador. Teníamos pollo al vapor (¡comí esto dos veces!), Verduras y estos tofu rellenos de chile dulce que nunca había visto antes y definitivamente lo quiero de nuevo. Los platos eran enormes, y alrededor de 8 cada uno. El arroz viene con los platos, tienes la opción de arroz al vapor o frito con huevo (que también es ilimitado, ¡lo sé!)

Seriously bad....ordered and delivered a £47 order of food in about 15 mins .....alarm bells when off straight away ...well clearly all ore cooked and microwaved ....curry sauce and bar b que sauce put straight in bin...disgusting.. Satay chicken in sauce runny and awful. Ribs dry and accompanying sauce awful. Chicken balls fine and sweet sour sauce and also prawn crackers fresh ...but when all your doing us pinging pre made bad good ..there bound to taste good.....never again for us ..

I go down there once a week as it's the best in town and I always get plenty on my plate than any other chinese i eat in

He estado usando esta comida para llevar china durante los últimos meses y después de probar algunos otros, tengo que decir que es lo mejor que hemos probado con algunos platos diferentes ahora y todos son excelentes y tienen un precio muy razonable. Los gastos de envío son 1. 00 pero mi pedido siempre ha llegado en 15 minutos. Hay algunas mesas si quieres sentarte y comer en un café estilo restaurante no autorizado y siempre hay mucha comida china allí, lo que realmente muestra lo bueno que es esta comida para llevar. Muy recomendable no iría a ningún otro lugar ahora.

Anyone who orders from here please check your orders as we wrote down what the whole family would like and they missed a dish (we worked out the cost prior) upon phoning them we were told we were wrong and that we had not asked for it yet it wouldn't add up to what we ordered anyway? When we ordered I also had the phone on speaker so anyone could say if I missed something, baring in mind there was 4 people in the room. To then be called a liar and that I didn't ask for it is ridiculous considering they were happy enough to take our money for what we apparently didn't order. Won't be ordering from here again....
