Golden City in Portsmouth

We have enjoyed the prawn curry and have ordered this dish on a regular basis in the past. Unfortunately although the flavour was still there on this occasion, the prawn quantity was sadly diminished. Realise due to costs this is probably inevitable. Such a shame, but keep up the good work. Wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a few more prawns

Worst Chinese meal ever! Duck that un edible just fat & hoisin sauce thick gritty tar with cucumber that’s old, rest of meal was not to standard as well as customer care when we complained Used to use regulary, will now be looking for new Chinese Money wasted & hungry

Just got a house curry and rice. Only 9.30 pm I live 100 meter away got in curry and rice stone cold. Not happy.

Great meal as usual apart from the pork balls. To be honest I’m not sure what the meat was inside but it certainly didn’t resemble meat of any kind. Where is the pork? This may make us make the move. Shame really.

Love the food here, tried other places while they were closed for around a month and no-where matched up! Our favourite Chinese takeaway!

I’ve used this Chinese takeaway for a long time now but it has recently gone down hill , our last meal was disgusting so much that we chucked most of it away, it wasn’t even busy, the chips were like cardboard and the beef curry was tasteless, in fact we asked to have it slightly hotter but what came out was some ultra mild watery sauce poured over some beef and onion, I won’t be using this place again! I’d rather travel further and get quality food,

We've been eating take away from here for years. It is really good and MSG free. Beware, they only take cash (at point of review). Also: Takeaway only.

The food was cold and extremely greasy, descent size portions but couldn’t eat as the grease made us feel sick.

First and last time using this Chinese, food turned up cold/lukewarm, very tasteless and all 4 that had the Chinese had stomach cramps and sickness after.

I would give it 0 stars but unfortunately that’s not an option. My partner asked for a certain type of rice and instead of telling him they don’t have it they agreed and gave him something else which was soaked in sweet and sour sauce it was vile and went straight in the bin. After trying to contact the restaurant no one answered The phone and by the time he drive back they were closed. Waste of money and fuel. Not worth it at all!

Shocking terrible. Can't even review the food. Didn't get what I ordered. Staff are incompetent aswell. Told to leave my daughter in hospital to go back and sort it.

We ordered 5 meals. 3 were very good, however, the other 2 were awful. I ordered a tofu Thai green curry & my daughter ordered a king prawn Thai green curry. All we could taste in the sauce was sugar. I counted 3 very thin slices of red chillis in mine absolutely no green ones. Other than the overwhelming taste of sugar the sauce was bland. The only positive for me was the tofu was cooked to perfection. Would I order from them again? Yes, I will give them 1 more chance, but definitely not a Thai dish.

Third time in a row we have ordered a takeaway. 3 times we asked specifically for extra spicy hot curry. 3 times we were given a curry that tasted like they forgot to put anycurry in it at all.wont be back again!!

Ordered from here last night for my bday. Use to go here sometime ago to collect and always excellent but now they deliver in our area and it was just as good as it was then. Now we have our regular again. Thanks GC 👍

Best hot and sour soup in the world food always hot and lovely beef chowmein always loads of beef.

Always come here if I fancy a curry, chicken fried rice or chicken balls... I do need to try some others really.

Best Chinese takeaway no doubt...

I am embarrassed to admit that I’ve tried every Chinese in Cosham, multiple times :-) However Golden City is by far my favourite. Never had a bad experience or bad meal. Also a plus that they’re now open 7 days a week.

Just ordered the Kung pao chicken, by far the best chinese meal I have ever had, Golden city is my new "go to" for Chinese.

We are out of the area, staying in an air bnb and fancied a Chinese takeaway. This place was right across the street so was perfect! We could see a queue outside so thought it must be popular and we were not disappointed! The food was piping hot and cooked to perfection. Not one bad thing to say about this place!

They do put care into food and it isnt greasy and oily unlike most other Chinese restaurants

Always first class food from polite and helpful staff at a fare price. Presently they have plastic screens to comply with social distance.

I’ve been going here for years and I’m not sure what’s happened but I will never go here again. Firstly the order was wrong and when I checked, she then told me I was lying. Secondly I am a vegetarian and when I ordered I did explained this. I then opened my meal and there was a lump of beef in my dish and after ringing to complain they said I put it in there!!! This indicates that their food hygiene is sooooo poor and I would recommend that you NEVER go here!!

I have been going to Golden boat for years and after today’s Chinese certainly won’t be going back Chicken was pink Chips were chewy Chicken balls were rubbery Duck curry was awful.... Only nice thing was the rice Absolutely appalling

Love the hot and spicy crisps chicken. Number 5 on their menu. Never disappointed. Previously only ever had chicken chow mein however now enjoy number 5 more.

Good food at reasonable prices. Wouldn't give it 5 stars and hope there are better Chinese take aways locally. But overall have enjoyed the food here. Little over priced for quality. Wasn't too keen on the Chinese curry. Very good value since comes with rice or chips. Went for large with mushrooms. Maybe just not to my taste. But usually enjoy every Chinese curry I've tried before. Will definitely use again though..... EDIT changed from 4 to 3 stars as a few times told 10 to 15 minutes wait and end up waiting in shop for extra 10 to 15 minutes and food is average and high msg. 2 of the reviews are by the same person obviously linked with the Chinese. ...... 1star

Chicken satay is like rubber with no resemblance to peanut sauce , crab and sweet corn soup is tasteless, I'm sure I would of had more flavour having a bowl of water instead ! Chilli chicken is like slop with no flavour , pls do not waste your well earned cash on this takeaway ! 1/10

Nicest take away Chinese I've ever had , always great. We order from here on a regular basis and it never disappoints , the salt and chilli prawns are amazing.

I always go there when I am hungry it is a really good place to have a takeaway the service is excellent and you don't need to wait long. I recommend that place for every hungry soul.

Although we have moved 10miles away my wife still likes to go back to this one.highly recommend for Chinese food.

Ordered a collection over the phone and was ready within 20 minutes. The service was excellent, both the gentleman on the phone and the young lady benind the counter were very friendly. The food was absoloutely fantastic, the best chow mein i can remember! Will definitely use again.

Somos asiduos semanales de esta llevar desde su traslado a Cosham. Esto es siempre la mejor comida china que he probado, la comida es siempre fresca, gran sabor y buenas raciones. El personal de la familia son muy amables y siempre dispuestos a ver. Yo recomendaría a nadie que probarlo.
