Turnpike in Cheshire East

Once again a cracking meal at The Turnpike. Great prices, a very warm welcome from the family and overall a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The Turnpike is my local, the staff are amazing... since they have taken over there is a breath of fresh air within the building. Food is as promised 7 days a week. On the plus side the staff are trying different avenues to attract new clientle.

Popped in for our evening meal and the food was excellent! The pub has recently been taken over and the new landlady and family are lovely and can’t do enough for you. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon!

I ordered Roast Chicken and was served Roast beef which was stringy and i couldn't cut it, the plate was full though plenty of vegetables well cooked and a lovely crispy Yorkshire pudding along with a generous amount of Roast potatoes , all washed down with cold pint of carling .

Stops serving food at 5pm on a Sunday? What on earth is that all about. Very poor

New to the area. Was late for food but half hour kaye and served a meal. I'm vegetarian and food was lovely

Had a bite to eat, a pint and a game of pool, contactless payment system on the pool table too.

Nice pub, step son just moved to area and we went for a pint and game of pool, First time I have seen a contract less pool table great no need for change brilliant. Will be back.

Very nice food if they ever sell some. Quite confusing advertisement on that. Always when we ask they don't serve any. Once we were lucky and it was very nice. Otherwise nice place to go in Middlewich and good staff.

We enjoyed our meal. The menu has the basics you expect from a pub. All meals were tasty with decent portion sizes. We thoroughly enjoyed the desserts which were huge! Easily share one between two. Basic selection of drinks. Sadly no real ale. Toilets were clean. Staff friendly.

Food is quite expensive but all in all a nice place to drink.

We as a family have been a few times. The food was good the 1st time. The 2nd time meat was chewy, but we can all get that wrong. But yesterday, the Sunday roast was almost inedible, the veg was totally raw, apart from roast potatoes. When I mentioned to the chef, who asked me how the meal was, his response was maybe I should start cooking it in the morning for you. I don't ming a slight crunch. But this was raw. So we went home hungry.

Just want to say what great service and beautiful food once again yesterday . 😋 highly recommend. Xx

Would like to say a big thank you to the Staff at the Turnpike we had the Lunch meal deal with a drink the food was Fantastic and great valve and the Staff made us feel very welcome great service and food we will be back .

Really good entertainment and atmosphere

Visited as newcomers to the area and was greeted warmly by Michelle and her staff. Chose lasagne from the menu. Came in a hot skillet with garlic sourdough bread and a side salad. Really tasty hot food and good value for money. Will certainly be visiting again and thank you for helping us to feel welcome

The Turnpike is my favourite pub in Middlewich. All of the staff work so hard to make sure there is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere not just for revisit punter but new punters too!

Refitted to a really high standard, great prices, friendly staff. This is exactly what we needed this end of town. Thought I would put an update on seems some very petty people like to score points with fake reviews. Stand by my earlier reviews, really friendly staff and kept to a high standard. Try for yourselves.

Not been in years nice and big inside drinks reasonable quick look at food prices iv seen better it still looks a bit ruff on the outside needs money spending outside on better quality seating and landscaping to attract passing trade

I am a rapid responder covering emergency care across Cheshire, I sat down outside to have a rest and within 5 minutes a manager called Michelle came outside and told me if I’m not drinking there I need to move along. I explained I was waiting for my colleague who was 5 min away and she still asked me to buy a drink. I wouldn’t mind but I’m in full uniform covering emergency care and she was very rude and didn’t care.

Nice place, Good prices, friendly locals. I think this place has been recently renovated and is well decorated and clean and new, including the toilets. They have a pool table, and a dance floor, there was a band called memory lane on. Playing some golden oldies for the dancers in the place. Cocktails and food too.

*TIRGGER WARNING* Absolutely awful I recommend anyone (especially ones with family) stay away from this place! I went in the other day and waited almost 30 minutes just to be served (the pub was practically empty). Just to be served by the so called ‘waiter’ Who I think is one of the owners of this establishment came out with no shoes on and his feet absolutely stank! 🤢 safe to say it killed my appetite I then entered the toilets to my horror to find a big smelly p*o on one of the urinals! The most shocking experience in my life safe to say I’ll never be returning…

Absolute worst experience EVER!🤢 Carpet was sticky with God knows what substance, but that wasn’t even the worst part - the owner(?) was walking around with no shoes!! (surely this must be a breach of covid guidelines/laws). Food came stone cold and tasted like a microwave meal and to top it all of my long-awaited pint was flat and warm🙄 Safe to say i won’t be returning!

Mothers day roast beef all the trimmings lovely plenty food so tasty and apple pie/custard what a great portion both courses beautifully presented even tho takeaway was very impressed and made mothers day thankyou so much Turnpike 🤗❤

Good night. Good family feeling. Service a bit slow at times (drink wise) but only what to be expected in these times. Perhaps they could do with another person helping out. But overall good nlght

We have visited a few times since it was refurbished and every time we have had lovely food and the service is excellent. Proper pub food at very reasonable prices.

First time I've ever eaten here and the food was excellent. Tastiest chips I've ever had just like my childhood ones. The food was freshly cooked and tasty. Hoping to return next week.

In now 20.54. It's quiet now the food has finished. Drinking real ale. It's not on continuously. As there isn't enough demand only the odd day or two gap. Doom bar a the moment last one was black sheep. Pool table not too busy . Football on telly. What's not to like.☺

Went to the pub for Sunday lunch, we both had the roast lamb dinner with the fruit crumble to follow The waitress told us about the price discount to save some cash The food came very quickly and very hot The food was great and service matched the food Great job will come again soon

Proud to say I can call this pub my local, its decor is outstanding the new land lady is very warm and welcoming, she goes above and beyond for everyone in fact the whole team do. The food is good too especially sunday lunches They have a quiz night every Sunday at 6.30pm the host Barry is awesome, has turned our Sundays night round.

Both my sister and I had the lasagne, both of us ended up with stomach pains and diarrhoea

This pub has been recently refurbished and offers decent clean facilities. It clearly sets out to be a typical pub that serves traditional food and drinks, which it does well. It is not trying to be a gastropub, just a great place to be. Service is friendly and efficient, and the food is tasty and freshly cooked. Recommended. Well worth a repeat visit.

We came for a couple of drinks on new year's eve at 3.30. We ordered our child a meal then later decided we would order food to be told no food was being served due to them setting up for new years buffet which was understandable. The chef then came out with a complementary portion of chips for us which was greatly appreciated. Great staff and fabulous service. Will definitely return.

Been here a few times as a mate has moved to to the area. Decor is great and the staff are spot on. Great array of drinks and the food is nice also. Plenty of TVs to watch the sports, lots of seating space and a pool table and dart board.

We are moving to the area so thought we'd check out the local facilities. We had been told that the pub had been recently refurbished and it looked welcoming from the outside. Liked the decor inside, had a mixture of sports bar at one end with TV's and pool table and eating at the other. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and explained the food menu and wines on offer. We had a snack but the sandwiches were very nice and the beer and wine was good. Will be happy to call it our local.

We came here after the refurbishment to have a look as never felt like we could come in before. They have made a real effort and the place looks alot better. We looked on the menu online and chose what we wanted beforehand . However, the menu on the table was alot smaller, missing all the dishes we wanted. It's important to keep your website menu updated. We ended up having a burger in the end for mains and the chicken starter Food was ok , waitor brought out our starters and mains at the same time which was annoying. Wouldn't go back in a rush but overall ok...

Ordered a prawn curry (paid £3.00 extra for prawns) no prawns. When I complained was told it would be fed back to the chief (no pun intended) A lot of the time there is only one bar staff serving who is very intend on talking to the patrons in the other bar and no bell to ring for service. Menu very limited and I think quite overpriced. Very disheartening to walk past in the morning before opening and still seeing empty glasses and overflowing ashtrays left outside. Food is hot and well prepared and does arrive quite quickly.

The service was poor and we only got 2 out of 4 of the dessert we payed for. We ordered at 6.30 and hat to leave at 9 the longest meal ever. We were totally ignored

Thought I’d give it a try after the refurb. Good range of beers on but all badly kept and the taps never seem to be cleaned through properly. Food is at Wetherspoons quality, which is about right for a chain pub - to be expected. Given it a few chances as I want to support a pub round the corner from my house but it’s just not good enough. Decor is pleasant as are the bar staff.

Great to have a nicely laid out local again the inside is very nice and welcoming. I was a little disappointed with the food we had on Sunday apparently a staff shortage was to blame for this. I ate my meal but would consider eating Sunday lunch there again. The place is very fresh inside and the selection of beers and spirits is plentiful with good prices. I would have scored higher but for the food I was served. But please do try the Turnpike when you pass you will be happy what they have done to the place.

Recently refitted and looks fab, food is great and staff are lovely. Cheep beer too!
