A wonderful evening spent in the Hanging Gate, the food was hot, tasty and well portioned. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was brilliant, the staff and local residents were very friendly and really made our night out special.

Beautifully located with stunning views. I booked in for 10 people which we took all dining tables up but a tiny snug was available for I would say 6 people. The down side to our visit was we were asked to leave while 2 people were waiting for coffee to be served after paying for it. That unfortunately spoilt the day for us considering the trade we put their way. Trying to shop local backfired and would not consider going back again. Great location for hikers

First visit to the Hanging Hate Inn. The pub itself looks great. The views are fantastic. The two ladies who served me were very friendly, polite and had a laugh. Great service! Ideal country inn to call after a walk. Dogs are allowed in the outside area but not inside which considering the small inside space is totally understandable. Highly recommend the beautiful inn.

Visited here whilst staying nearby. Hillary and her partner (I didn't catch his name) were really welcoming and friendly. The views are unmatched and are incredible. The drinks were nice and reasonably priced. The locals were also friendly and seemed welcoming. It was good to be a part of their local community, even if it was just for a short while. The owners here have got big plans for the pub, so it will be good to see how they get on. Good luck and all the best for the future! (Also, the black cat made my evening!)

No dogs allowed in the pub. It was too windy to sit outside so didn't stop, so we cannot comment on food, service and atmosphere. 3 stars because no dogs allowed inside. Drove to an alternative pub not far away where we knew we could take our dog inside. Disappointed that we could not take our dog in. We wanted to help support the current owners as we were aware of the struggles they had encountered since taking over the establishment. First spoke to them during lockdown in 2020, attempted 2021 & 2022 both times were on days/times that they were not open.

Best view will the lower deck and I think it will be finished by 15th July 23. That will be the place to take your special friend and your dog with 2 pints and a pizza from the outside kitchen and enjoy the most amazing view. No shelter outside so make sure it's a nice day. Called in for first time just passing desparate for some food. Amazing pizza shack at the rear that also does good coffee and cake. A lot of walkers and cyclists seem to frequent - you buy your pizza outside, and if you want to sit in the pub and have a beer, they will bring food to your table. Landlord very welcoming and have the dog a treat. They even supply hard hats at the door for the low beam πŸ˜‚. Looks like they are building an outside seating area on a viewing deck at the rear which will be cool when finished. Will definitely return...

Called in here on Sunday, when passing by bike on an incredibly hot day. Not been there in 50 years ( seriously). What a great place - it has been beautifully renovated, the service was friendly and welcoming. The only problem I had was that after a pint of the excellent beer on offer, I wanted another! Judging by my very small sample the prices seemed more than reasonable too. The solid stone walls and an open window made it feel like it was fitted with very powerful airconditioning. I must try and get back a little more frequently!

Very rude passive aggressive lady. We pulled up the car to look at the view and look for the public footpath between this pub and the beautiful Ryles Arms. We asked the lady where the path was, which she vaguely pointed us towards. But then said "this is a pub, not a public carpark" in a passive agressive sarcastic tone. It was 11am, the pub didn't open till 4pm, the car park was empty. We weren't exactly stopping customers parking! We were planning on doing some walks, getting some lunch (as they don't serve food) and then coming back up for drinks. But not worth it with that petty ridiculous attitude.

Booked the function room for my daughters 30th party, spoke to kenzie a good few times to organise, I was told the room held up to 60 for Β£120 plus for Β£25 I could have an extra bit so it would hold 70, only around 50 people came to the party in the end thankfully as the room would not have held 70 comfortably, the chip butties were brought out literally as we arrived at 7.50, we had agreed on 9pm but the chef obviously couldn't be bothered staying, the chips were cold by the time any one wanted them so were wasted and they were very over priced, the pub its self when going through to the toilets is full of drugs!
