Turnpike By Maya in Calderdale

We spotted this on a little drive & just pulled in, no idea what the menu was going to read and we was pleasantly surprised to have found a new curry place! Have to say from the minute we walked in it was like “wow” the place just looks amazing and such a cute little spot for it! The food is absolutely amazing! We ordered the chicken tikka masala Chicken bhuna, boiled rice, chips and garlic nann (never had a garlic nann so amazing) we was blown away! Amazing flavours all food came really hot and so quick! Much cheaper than we anticipated too and for the quality we are already planning our next trip!

We visited The Turnpike by Maya today for a father's day family meal. My wife saw it posted on face book as a "banquet" special for father's day. We booked a table for 7 of us including our 5 year old son. None of us could fault a single thing. We arrived at 2pm which is the time the table was booked for, so probably a bit late really. The man at the desk welcomed us in an pointed out the great of our party in the lounge area by the fire. I went to the bar and ordered some drinks which I took back to the table with sofas in the lounge, there were two seats short so I used them off a table to the side which the staff did not mind at all. There was no rushing us to our table, no watch watching or hovering, we actually made our way to the resteraunt at our leisure and were shown to our table via the banquet table which was explained to us as we made our way past. The staff were attentive without being over bearing, plates were exchanged when it was seen we had finished with them, and we were asked only twice if we would like more drinks there was no pressure what so ever. The food on the banquet table was replenished whenever it was needed and everything looked and tasted very fresh. Our 5 year old son didn't eat much but they don't charge for under 7yrs anyway, but he was given an ice cream and when grandad asked if he could have another there was no hesitation he offered to pay for it and was looked at like an alien and told "no you're not paying for it" So so impressed with every aspect of today's visit. A big thank you to the whole team front and back of house. A special day made a super day.

On Maya's second visit to the Turnpike, the food was superb, just as previously. It's well worth a visit. It is a large building and an ideal venue for parties.

Best Curry i have ever had. The lamb Madras was stunning . Perfectly cooked . The starters were amazing too.My Partner can never eat a full curry but she demolished the lot... The staff at this place are so nice and welcoming too. I honestly wont eat at any other Indian as its my 100% favorite. Well worth a visit as you wont be disappointed.

We found the Turnpike by chance while looking for a pub. The staff were friendly, the food was superb, and the service was good. We couldn't fault the Turnpike. It would be a nice place to sit by the log burner and just have a drink, or the meals were really very good. It seems to be the way for some pubs and Indian restaurants to survive these days, by providing the offerings of both in one place. There is also a really good choice of Beer and Lager and an outdoor seating area for the summer.

Best food and curry we have had for a long time. The Lamb chops were so soft and tasty. In fact everything was just lovely. The staff are attentive and friendly. Definitely one to vist. We will be back.

We stayed in their upper car park in our camper overlooking the Boothwood reservoir and went in for a meal as it was free to park up for the night... The lady that greeted and served us was fabulous! Very friendly and made us very welcome. The food we had was amazing. My lamb was the best i'd tasted and i asked for my meal not to be too spicey...it came out perfect. The other half really enjoyed his spicey Rogan Josh and it was just as he hoped it would be. . Portion sizes were great too, plenty of it. The place itself is very tastfully done out. Its beautiful. Cosey sofas by an open fire to relax before or after meals, looked so inviting. Lovely meal made even nicer by the lady who served us. Great fun and informative about the area. Highly recommend ! 😊😊

A wet and chilly Sunday drive out we found The Turnpike quite by accident. Needing a break we pulled in - both commenting ‘bet it’s lovely here on a nice day’. We received a warm welcome and it was ‘no problem’ to just have a quiet drink. Located across from the reservoir and in the distance the M62 there was plenty to look at. Tastefully decorated throughout we enjoyed our drinks promising ourselves we would return on a nicer day.

I was sceptical about going to the Turnpike after reading recent reviews it was not as good as previously, but I was pleasantly surprised. The onion baajis smelt freshly cooked and were crispy and tasty. I had the vegetable masala, very creamy and mild, just how I like it. My partner had the paneer shashlik which he said was very tasty. He said next time he had it he would ask for the onions to be well cooked, not a criticism but he likes them well cooked. The lady and gentleman who served us were very attentive and pleasant. It was empty when we went but the lady assured us people generally came later on a Friday. She wasn’t wrong as it was starting to get busy when we left after 8pm.

I had recommeded the Turnpike to friends previously as there is always a warm welcome, the place is spotless and the food delicious. Sadly no more. The welcome is still as pleasant as before and the staff engaging, but the food.......As mentioned the chicken pakora (previously a must have) is now two tiny pieces of chicken in some sort of soggy coating - for £5.50! I loathe lentils and chick peas so was careful to ensure I ordered a dish that didn`t have them - so I thought. My `chicken` dish was 20% chicken and 80% chick peas. Never used to be the case and a large proportion of my meal headed for the bin. Sadly, the place was really quiet, and it appears they are slashing the quality of their offerings but still charging over the odds for a substantially inferior product. I don`t like to see a business struggling, but can`t see me returning anytime soon.

Had to reduce from a 5* sadly. Not been for a while and tonight we ordered 2 mains and 2 starters which came to a whopping £52! The chicken pakoras consisted of two tiny pieces of chicken for £5.50. The previously chunky garlic chips are now soggy skinny fries. The curries were tasty but had very little protein in, mostly sauce. So disappointed to see the prices go up so much and the quality tank.

A truly lovely restaurant! A wonderful team who couldn’t do enough for us. Great food, brilliant service and highly recommended. We can’t wait to visit again!

We visited our Sons new business in Oldham, and then decided to go for Dinner at the Turnpike by Maya. We arrived to be greeted by a friendly waitress and escorted to our table. We ordered drinks before our meal while we perused the vast selection on the menu. I ordered the Chicken Pokara for starters and of course that was by another 2 one Shai Jurgh. All delicious. Main meal 2 Lamb Chops marinated for my wife and myself delicious, 2 chicken tic masala and 1 Khari. Food was exceptional. Popadoms with pickles YUM! Congratulations Chef. Service spot on, well done waiter you worked your socks off! I told Marcus the manager when I paid the bill how well my family had enjoyed there meal. If ever you are in the area I would recommend a visit!

Both me and my wife stopped off for something to eat. My wife has to use a wheelchair, so whilst there is no slope into the restaurant. The staff couldn't do enough to help us. They directed us to where there was a lower step and helped lift her in and out at the end. Once in the restaurant the service was fantastic. Each member of staff couldn't do enough and was very attentive. Then once the food came out, it was hot and sizzling and the smell omg. Definitely recommend stopping off here and will be definitely visiting again.

Booked this restaurant after reading the reviews on here. My wife & I went with 2 friends and the whole experience was fantastic from the moment we walked in the door.
