Really lovely experience overall. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The server took care to ensure we understood the menu and chose a dish which suited our spice preference.

We went to Thaal for a family meal, and unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations due to poor service. Upon arrival we were seated at the bar for half an hour but no one asked us if we wanted a drink. Then when we were taken to our table it took ages for someone to take our order, and the food took an age to arrive. From walking in the door to our starter arriving, it was around 90 minutes. We had a mixed starter and it wasn't good - the fish was dry and I got several bones in my mouth. The main curry was nice but the lemon rice was so overly lemony and the naan was sweaty doughy and bland. We were there for 2.5 hours, it wasn't cheap and we were left feeling disappointed. I see a lot of good reviews for Thaal so I hope it was just a one-off.

Excellent in every way. Service Food ambiance. Would highly recommend this place . They do everything possible to please you . Food is absolutely delicious. Only thing for me personally I like more sauce . The gentleman taking our order did not understand when I said this . But they tried to rectify this by bringing more sauce .!!

Been to Thai many times over the past 6 years. Used to be so good. Now manager brings you a meal you had not ordered saying "this is a new recipe that we are trying" - NO I want want I ordered. Then drinks - ordered Neck Oil - another brew arrived saying it is much better - NO bring me what I ordered. Lamb Palak - used to be the best on the menu - last time small amount of lamb in thin gravy - certainly not lamb palak. Finally the Pehwari Naan used to be great - now very small amount of additions and very much like a plain naan. We will give it one more try but if the service and quality don't improve we shall go elsewhere.

We visit regularly either for a take away or to eat in. On Saturday we ate in bringing our son for the first time. Fab food and great service

Thaal used to be brilliant but after the meal we had there last night, we won’t be going again. All four of us had upsets stomachs after eating the meal and I think that unfortunately because they are struggling, the quality of ingredients has gone substantially downhill. The whole of the restaurant and the exterior needs some serious attention. The usually charming host certainly shows a different side of his personality when feedback/criticism is offered. I hope the restaurant gets back on its feet, but it won’t be helped along the way with my money. Sad.

We enjoy coming here and this was no different. A 21st birthday in the family so we booked here. Overall very good. The owner/manager is always happy to help on dishes and service. We all enjoyed our dishes and they are freshly prepared. We had the usual pickle trays and poppadoms and several starters between us all. Mains were several Kormas which isn’t on the menu but they were happy to make, and a shashlik, garlic chicken and tikka masala. One slight moan is that the prices are high, but the quality is good and we all commented on the chicken which was lovely. The outside of the premises needs work but inside is still nice. It’s also nice to have draught kingfisher, In an Indian locally. All in all very good fare. We will be back again.

Last minute we decided we fancied a takeaway. We have many Indian takeaways near us but always prefer to travel to Thaal. Food was amazing as ever and still red hot by the time we got home. Always a friendly welcome too

Always enjoyed my visits to the restaurant although it is a little more expensive but you can really tell the difference when it comes to the food. Had my first take away last night and was blown away. Chicken was so tender and soft and really tasted like quality chicken. Portions really big too. Wife had king prawn main and prawns were massive and plenty of them really enjoyed it and will be back soon.

Have to say this ( and other) restaurants have my deepest sadness at this time but inspire of covid the take away meals from Thaal are as fantastic as their eat ins . To me, the best curries around and the loveliest people who own and serve- please support this amazing place x

Delicious! Not been since before lockdown and boy did we enjoy tonight’s visit! Great service as always....Starters pickle tray and popadoms, onion bhajis (best ever) and stuffed mushrooms that we so tasty! - we shared!Mains were both chicken dishes- deshi garlic chicken and murgh dhai turka both were really good well spiced and in a beautiful sauce. Fluffy rice and rotis! It was so good! Won’t be leaving it so long before we return!Excellent service Thank you

Beautiful food, fabulous restaurant and amazing staff....clean and tidy, not greasy and staff are so friendly and helpful and always on hand if needed. Would recommend this place over the majority of curry houses.

It was busier than I've seen the place on Saturday but they fitted us in. I worried that they looked understanffed but didn't have to wait for service and the food was quick. The vegetable pakoras were fresh from the fryer and delicious, and the sea bass pakora suprisingly moist. My main of Lamb Chilli Masala was sensational and some of the best cooked lamb I've had in an Asian. The whole family loved it. it isn't the cheapest bu this palce is a class act.

Been here a few times over the years, probably too many! First time out during the Covid crisis and not really knowing what to expect. I've had take-aways but not been inside for a meal for 6 months. Anyway, rang up and booked for 6 and hoped for the best.Superb, everything was done as it should be. Felt safe. The staff were fantastic, the food wow even fantasticer!!!I know changes are coming and I was told they are going to go the whole hog and be totally safe. The food and service was excellent.Many thanks, we all enjoyed it.

We have been to this place a number of times . The level of service is just A1 from the moment you arrive until you leave. The food is excellent . I would recommend this place all day long

We had a delicious, mid lockdown, take away from Thaal. It was all delicious. Generous portion sizes, more expensive than other take aways but definitely worth it.

Visited here last night a very poor experience the restaurant was dirty they was mould on the wall and the wall was damp and peeling they have small heaters all over restaurants instead of the radiators and live wires hanging out of the wall I went into the gents toilets and there was a hole in the ceiling with water leaking through it onto the floor which become very slippery, one of the waitresses was rude another waiter was burping whilst walking about the restaurant the curry was of average chicken was tough and I can say I won’t be recommending it to anyone very disappointed.

My friends and I visited for my birthday celebration 23rd Jan. The evening started off well with a friendly greeting and helpful staff. The food was good and all was going well until we were 'thrown out'. At first it was the smell of disinfectant from the floor and loo cleaning, then the request to move into the lounge before we were ready to leave the table so they could vacc the carpet then to be asked if we had a taxi ordered!! we felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable as the staff were leaving around us. My advise would be go elsewhere if you want to stay later than 9.30.

As a regular patron of the Thaal it is definitely the best curry place around . We have tried lots of different curries here and all as good as each other. The staff are great, polite and make it such a fab place - definitely recommend this restaurant

We have had takeaway from Thaal several times. This weekend we decided to dine in and we were blown away! Beautiful restaurant, nice ambience, attentive staff and the food was out of this world! The takeaway is good... the restaurant is next level! Try it! You won't be disappointed!

The quality of food at the Thaal is consistently excellent. The surroundings are second to none in the Huddersfield/Halifax area and the staff are very attentive and welcoming. Can't recommend enough.

I travel all around the UK and have eaten in many and varied Indian and Nepalese restaurants but none of them have been better than the meal I have just eaten! The welcome was warm and friendly! The food was excellent and I think I have just found my new favourite restaurant!

Quite the best curry house in the area. We have returned on several occassionas as a couple and with friends. The quality of food is always maintained, and the service is great. A warm welcome always.

I'll be honest, at the end of August I had the best ever curry at Thaal since I've been going there and they seem to have stopped burning the back of the naan breads too but what let it down was the host. He's lovely and welcoming, can't do enough for you... but very loudly and continuously lectures his staff - on what they should be doing, how to do it etc, in full earshot of everyone in the restaurant. It's a big shame, because the decor and food are great but the atmosphere and service is suffering because of it. On that visit, it took 5-10 minutes for us to have our order taken because a lecture was taking place. And it's not a one off, as we returned recently got our lovely warm welcome, were shown to a table but then didn't get any menus until 5-10 minutes later, and there were similar delays in ordering drinks, catching someone's attention to ask for the bill, managing to do so and then having to get up and pay at the till when the bill hadn't arrived 10 minutes later. We appreciate there were new staff on this particular occasion and we were party to all the conversations about how they needed to do their job as in previous visits. It's such a shame because it isn't a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy your meal. So we've decided to just get takeaways from Thaal in future. At least that way we get to enjoy the food without having to listen to all the lectures and staff briefings. Dare I say it might be the reason some of the staff don't stick around too long as well.

Went to the Thaal Indian I asked for Keema chilli masala got Chicken with mince when I told the waiter it's not what I asked for he said that's how we serve it...Been a few times always get the same meal....We not be back again.. ..Also no early bird anymore.. ................. Wonder Why ........

Came for a family meal. We had the mix starts to start and the Lamb Palak and a chicken curry. Both were tasty and served with nice garlic man bread. Had take out from here many a time too. It is a tad expensive but nice treat.

Ate on a Monday evening to celebrate my sons 18th Birthday. Was a family party of nine people. All food was excellent. With some of the party not very au fait with Asian cuisine, it was good the maître d' spent time talking over the ‘hotness‘ of each order and what level was asked for.

The friendly staff and decor are very welcoming. The menu choices are very good. The starter for 2 wasn’t. All the fish, pakora and Bhaji were dry. Neither of us could eat them. The main courses were just ok but we didn’t enjoy them. Disappointed

Extortionate prices for a below average curry. Could not find prices on website, should have known better. Check your bill, the staff are not honest.

We eat at the Thaal on a relatively regular basis. The staff are super and the curries even better. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Brighouse.

We chose Thaal over our local “curry house” as our Friday night couple treat having been twice before. Pleasant greeting on arrival started with a gin and tonic presented with fresh raspberries and Kingfisher beer on draught. The paneer starter was fresh tasting with accompanying veg and delicate dressing. The onion bhajis were well cooked and huge enough to share. Murgh ja jool main with the honey topping is perfection and a choice of how hot you like it cooked with fresh chillies. Fluffy garlic naan not overladen with ghee or butter was enough for two. We mentioned the roti was undercooked, this was removed from the bill. Great house wines (by the glass) Italian red and a white at their required temperature.

This place is normally for my wife and I but I decided that my mate and I would eat here for a nice change and we weren’t disappointed.

We went quite early and good job too because it soon filled up with families and couples.

For me to give 5 stars is rare. The good is good and the atmosphere is good. Wife and I went at 6pm on a Thursday. There were a few groups ins a a couple of familites.

We don't eat curries very often, but would definitely go back. Good choice on the menu, we had different meals and thoroughly enjoyed them. A very nice restaurant and a good atmosphere.

The food was lovely, lots to choose from on the menu and the waiter was really helpful, would definitely go again.

We have visited here several times now and it seems to get better and better. There were 6 of us, all ordered different starters and mains. All food was to a high standard and the staff were more than willing to adjust the meals to personal taste. Customer service is friendly and helpful. An all round lovely place for a family meal. We would recommend the fish starters and the kababs. And you can’t go wrong with lamb palak, the Balti dishes, and the Bhuna masala.

After a bit of a slip up with ordering(waiting 40 mins for starters)this is rare because we’ve been here many times before and they are so efficient. We made a start on our food absolutely excellent no complaints whatsoever. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough food excellent,service excellent, and at the first mention of our wait to the manager when we paid our bill took a third straight off. Many thanks for a good night and will certainly be back again

Thaal always serves beautiful food, this place has never let us down. Service efficient and polite. We were given extra starters to try on the house which we also delicious. We will keep coming back for more!😄

Best Indian restaurant in the area. The staff, food and atmosphere is lovely. Would definitely recommend!

My husband stopped in this empty car park when the restaurant was closed and received a parking charge for £100 ! The signage is only noticeable when exiting the car park and we got in touch with the restaurant when we received the parking charge notice. They ignored us and we appealed to HX car park management, we received no reply to say whether our appeal was or wasn’t successful. The next correspondence was a final demand ! The restaurant management were not helpful and I would not recommend this place, needless to say we found somewhere else for our anniversary meal !

We went to Thaal on our wedding anniversary. I have strict dietary restrictions but the sin free menu allowed me to eat straight from the menu. It was a beautifully tasty meal and a very accommodating restaurant. I am a wheelchair user so I need to have wheelchair access and wheelchair toilet and both of these where available for me.

My wife and friend were eating in so when I dropped them at the restaurant, I had already rung a take out to be ready.

A great dining experience! The food is cooked to cater for your taste and the staff are very welcoming.

We have been eating at Thaal for over a year and have visited with different friends and they all say that it’s a really good curry. The onion Bhajis are the best I’ve ever had and even though I am not a vegetarian I love the Sabzi Shaslik. The curry’s come out looking and tasting different to each other, unlike other places, and with the excellent service and decor you feel like you’ve been out for a nice meal rather than “just a curry”. They have a good menu with non-alcoholic beers and cocktails on, for those that don’t drink or are driving. The healthy option curry’s are brilliant for those that still want to go out to eat and be good!

Visited this restaurant recently with friends. On the plus side, lots of parking, nice interior, friendly efficient staff.

We were lucky to win a meal for 4 in a competition and we were certainly not disappointed! The starters were very tasty and massive portions and the Sunday taster was divine - the chicken Bhuna Masala was one of the best things ever!

We travel a good half an hour to come here and we are never disappointed, we dont go anywhere else! Staff are always friendly and formal, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is so calm, cannot recommend Thaal enough, our favourite indian and would recommend everyone to try it!

We have had many a curry and this is still the best for an evening with my wife where we can chat in nice surroundings.

This has become my favourite eatery! Super friendly efficient staff, and the food is another level! So fresh and tasty! Delicious!

We normally go here for a meal and it’s always been excellent, but today we had a takeaway just for a change (really we couldn’t be bothered to get changed) still excellent best £12 I’ve ever spent. Will be back, keep up the great food, compliments to the chef

had a lovely meal here for a family birthday. not just a normal curry place, feels a bit more upmarket when you see the menu. the onion bhaji starters though, amazing! with drinks it worked out around £25 per head which isn't too bad with a starter and main as well. the waiters were nice, especially when my awkward family member said he wasnt happy with the meal they'd brought, claiming it was wrong. they brought him a fresh meal out with no questions.

The restaurant is easy to find, having a huge car park. The restaurant is decorated to a great standard and immaculate throughout.

Service second to none. Great atmosphere. One of the best curries we’ve ever had if not the best. Recommend the lamb curry and the mixed balti if you want a bit of theatre. Will definetly be making a return visit.

Easy to find on the main road, bags of parking and ramps if you are disabled. Attentive service from beginning to end. I thought the food a little bland but my companion said her main course was excellent. Will give it another try.

I like to think I know my curries and having been to Thaal twice now, this restaurant is definitely one of my favourites. The building and location is a bit nondescript and somewhere I’ve been driving past without paying much attention, what a mistake. Inside is really nicely decorated and laid out and the service has been spot on both times I’ve been. The menu is good with plenty to choose from, I particularly like the fish options, the Seabass pakora and the Seabass main course were fantastic. Not notably anymore expensive than anywhere else. Well worth a visit, I’ll certainly be going back!

Delicious food served in a good atmosphere, whether it’s a cosy romantic meal or a group you won’t be disappointed I recommend the starters and the Chicken tikka Masala

The curry here is always constantly good the service is good and the surroundings more upmarket than most Indian restaurants. Would def recommend

The Thaal never lets you down. The moment you walk in you get a warm welcome in this pleasant restaurant. The menu is varied and dishes are full of flavour. The food is always fresh and the warmth of the fresh spices comes through in the dishes. Prawn Puri, Sikh Kebabs, mixed starters are all excellent. The accompaniment salad and sauces are tasty and fresh. The Chicken Jal Jool is amazing and even the Chicken Tikka Masala is memorable. In my opinion the Thaal is as good as the very best in the area, and I include Bradford and Leeds in that.

We came in and were greeted by a really smiley man who told us to take a seat in the waiting area.He took over some menus and within 3 mins were were at a table(considering it was a busy night).A waiter came to take drink orders and a few minutes later food orders.The service was fast and the food was delicious.The waiters brought warm plates out a few minutes before so that your food stays warm.I order Chicken Jal Jool and the chicken was divine, and my other family members agreed.It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was sweet and spicy.The furniture was comfy and the atmosphere was warm.It was a wonderful evening out and we did it on a budget!

We have been here as a couple aswell as family we always enjoy the food it is well. Pre pared and cooked the staff are clean and cheerful and ambiance is just right for an Indian restaurant

Their menu is new and fresh with meals and combos i hadnt heard of so it was something of an experiment Not dissapounted they will cook to your liking 100% the best i have tried

My family and I visited Thaal after recommendations from people that live in the area and frequently visit. We were left feeling let down and can honestly say this is the worst Indian food we’ve ever had.

First time here everything looked good till tasted meal very mediocre , no traditional curry as in bhuna dopiaza etc...

Shocked to find that a restaurant like this is reheating food. My starter fell apart as it had been reheated...

Visited on Saturday night for the first time. Very pleasant friendly staff. Quite busy early on but was worth the...

Stayed over at brighouse for the weekend & thought I would seek out what looked like the best curry house in the area .to be honest I was disappointed.went into a fairly empty restaurant but still managed to be left sat in waiting area for 15 minutes .we even had to order from the waiting table before we even settled down & took our coats off .so ordered the food & after making sure the waiter was in ear shot I said to my wife how long do they expect us to be sat here before dinner comes out .sure enough 20 seconds later they hurriedly took us to our table .in an empty room I may add so don't see what was the hold up.anyway sat down & 2 mins later starter arrived .i had mixed kebab that was nice wife had onion bhajis said they were bland & there was a pool of grease on the plate that you don't normally see . Unfortunately the main arrived less than 2 minutes after the starter plates were moved so it was straight into main course which I dislike as I like to breath between courses .mine was nice but couldn't spell it but wife had the usual chicken tikka masala .you could see the chicken was cremated & come out like bricks .understand its barbecue first but this was over done .wife never enjoyed it & left most of the chicken.i did mention this to the waitress & at the pay desk again when I was leaving but it wasn't acknowledged by the restaurant that it was over cooked .i do eat Indian food a lot everywhere I go so quite clued up .fair to say this restaurant for me doesn't hit the mark .i may never be round the area again but if I was I would be looking for another Indian to try .

Really nice restaurant,unbelievably clean,pleasant staff,if unsure what to eat the staff are very knowledgeable and explain what’s what. The place is a bit up market so a little pricey but worth every penny,it also does take away so if you live with in a few miles give it a try I don’t think you will be disappointed and there’s plenty off road parking, if you do decide to visit. Enjoy

After reading reviews decided to try this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Service and food all excellent and fresh and hot. Will deffo visit again very soon

Had many a curry and this is still the best for an evening with my wife where we can chat in nice surroundings and have good service.

Recently dined here, and although the overall experience was good, there were combination of things that could have been avoided.

Excellent menu and good service. Ample parking. Booking is advised. Very busy and prices were most excellent.

We visited this place as we found it did a slimming world friendly section in the menu - if you're not slimming world, don't be put off there is a great main menu ! The food was fabulous and the waiting staff were really friendly . Later in the evening there was a Michael Buble tribute which was great fun . Not too expensive either . Will definitely be back !

Thaal is a decent Indian restaurant located in a former pub just outside Brighouse town centre. The staff are very friendly and the menu choice is excellent, especially the fish curry dishes. They have a very good gin menu too which is unusual for an Indian restaurant, try the Ophir with tonic and a whole red chilli.. very different!

Not been for a while but we will certainly go more often. It has to be the best Indian restaurant in our area. The staff are friendly and efficient the surroundings clean and modern and the food is amazing can't wait for our next visit

I'm no expert on Indian cuisine but have visited Thaal several time and have never been disappointed. The food is exquisite & the service exceptional. Delighted to recommend it without reservation.

We were staying in Brighouse and wanted somewhere nice for meal on our last night. Picked Thaal Indian restaurant as it was very near the house we were staying in. What a fabulous choice! The service was impeccable, the food was wonderful, the portions were very generous and the price was very reasonable. Would highly recommend. I wonder if they would deliver to Leicestershire :)

Last minute decision to go here as just down the road and are usual choice for Indian is a long drive away but so glad we did. The waiters were very friendly, our order was taken and served in good time and the food was lovely. Will certainly return and happy to recommend this restaurant

Greeted with a smile and a warm welcome.We both had the early bird menu.Onion Bhajis for starter and then Sylethi Bengal Chicken Curry for main. Mine had extra chillies. Absolutely stunning food. Amazing flavours and really good portion size. Freshly cooked and big chunks of chicken. Cannot fault at all. Will definitely be going back..

As the title suggests our good mates from Germany called and as always like to visit the Thaal. At the moment I am in 'fat club' with some of the girls from work and they had told me that Rahim has created a 'sin' free menu to dovetail with the Slimming world program. (As a bloke I can't be doing with working stuff out so just do as I'm told by various ladies. Seems to work)Any way, I asked for it and picked a mixture of veggie starter and prawn and veggies main - Rahim and his team always bend over backwards to make you what you want. I think the menu is just a guide! He first brought me a version of Chot Poty, which I like anyway in full fat version, which quite frankly I thought was better but I don't know if he was just trying this out on me, anyway it was ace. Then the starter came which was really just nicely cooked, spiced veggies, cauli, broccoli, onion and peppers. I liked them a lot and they came with a special mint sauce which, again, tasted just like the fat one. Mains was a really nice prawn and veggie curry To be honest I'd be happy with this every time I didn't feel I'd missed out and if anything it was sort of Indian with a new twist I also got steamed rice which helped fill me up to the usual 'just had a curry' standard. On the face of it I am mostly a veggie but will eat fish so I can't help with the other dishes, but if they are as good as what I had they will be great. Rahim is interested in this project and is keen to know about stuff he can use We suggested a bread mix that might make a chappati and he said he'd look into it. All our friends were delighted as usual, with the staff modifying and tweaking the menu to better suit. I love the Thaal and it's one of my favourite places to eat. This dimension just adds to it but as far as I can tell (I need to check on Monday) but I could go there every night, have a curry AND be on a diet ! Shame he you can't get sin free beer or it would be perfect!Hope this helpPS If you are a veggie they will make a veggie version of everything on the menu either using panneer or extra veg if you ask them!

My wife and myself that we would eat out and went to The Thaal, a Indian restaurant in Brighouse. The decor was pleasant and greeted with a nice smile by a front of house manager. The menu was decent and the order was taken by a very pleasant waiter. I ordered a mixed Kebab and my wife ordered a veggie samosa and a chat pot (a chick pea curry dish) to share this was for The starter. Main course was a curry with Sea bass and Saag Paneer both dishes to share between my wife and myself. The waiter returned within minutes to inform use that the Sea bass is now finished. It was 7.30pm on a Friday evening, we were told by the waiter that because it was a new order, the Sea bass sold out quickly, sell approximately 18 to 20 dishes already. I did mention that it was only 7.30pm on a Friday evening. The waiter was trying to give a explanation to keep use happy. We did ask to see the manager, who never came but i was able to speak to him when he was walking past the table but got very little sense from him, who actually said that he was not involved in ordering of the food and walked away. When the food did come , the end of my Sheek kebab was missing, two very small chicken pieces an a onion Bharji with no flavour and no salt. My wife's samosa was no better with very little spice/ flavours. The main course was no better and they had actually added sugar and the sweetness just spoiled the whole dish, the paneer was to tough and rubbery. When paying the bill the manager did not even bother to ask whether we enjoyed the meal. As a Indian I was let down, Last time I will be going there.
