Having waited 3 hours for my main meal with cold rice chips and Nan breads being on the table for over half hour before curry arrived. We were the only party of 30 in the restaurant and our food had been pre ordered 2 days before. Some of my party were leaving already had eaten cold food. 7 of our party was still waiting for our main meal, after now being in the restaurant nearly 4 hours I went to complain. I said we wasn’t paying for food we hadn’t had. The person in charge said ok and asked what can he do for us as a way of apologising. As meals then started coming out he offered to bag it up for take home. I then received a bill for my food and I hadn’t asked for my food to be bagged up but was told I will pay I said I will pay for what I had eaten eg starters only. He was aggressive and insulting throwing my money at me saying I asked for it to be taken home, and forsefully telling me, “ You will pay” I left food bag on reception I certainly didn’t want it after over 4 hours waiting to eat, I had lost my appetite by then. God help this restaurant when it’s full to capacity, Or Christmas. My advice is AVOID I will NOT be returning Serving staff was very good just shame they were sent out with just half of people’s meals Management kneed to manage And stop blaming serving staff Absolutely disrespectful

Tried ordering a takeaway online. It let me order it but it was just stuck on awaiting confirmation. Tried calling but it went straight to answer machine. Had to drive up there only to find they are closed. They're supposed to be open according to their own website. No messages on there saying they're closed, no message on voicemail saying they're closed. Noticed after that they are closed according to Google, but it's not always accurate. Why still let people order or not put a message on the actual website?

Brilliant food never had a bad curry from here

not up to usual standards , only a very small amount of curry in container about half what would normally be in. not much flavour either .

this is the best curry house on just eat. Always cooked exactly how you want it, quality ingredients, really fresh, the chicken pieces are huge. Never have a bad meal off them ever. Hate it when they are closed as don't like going anywhere else. Keep up the great work guys 🤤😀

I ordered a takeaway for collection last Friday and unfortunately had awful food poisoning from it. I had ordered for collection at opening time so it went through as a pre-order- I wonder if they used old food as a result? Either way, it ruined my weekend and left me poorly and exhausted into the middle of the week. I contacted them to raise my concerns and request a refund but no response. I definitely won’t be using them again.

Owner seems a nice guy but the service is poor. The young girl with glasses is rude, no manners & doesn't listen to anything you say. Food was wrong, Food missing, Drinks didn't turn up & asked her for the bill she didn't acknowledge us & then had to ask someone else for the bill! Food was nice but not the best. Manager needs to find better staff.

Absolutely outstanding! First time ordering here and they smashed it out of the park. A couple of our regular curry houses had gone downhill and we'd tried a few places trying to find a new gem - all were pretty average in all honesty. Akhtars was recommended to us by a friend who'd previously recommended our current favourite kebab house. Ordered a peshwari tikka - creamy but with a kick, just my style. My wife ordered desi lamb, rich and spicy. Great spice blend, tender meat. Keema rice was excellent, prawn puri was perfect and the garlic naan, although slightly burnt, we quite like that charred flavour so not a negative there either. The mushroom pakoras didn't travel well but you e got to expect that. They were very tasty and a decent size portion. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Just sad that we're now on our January diet because I'd order from here twice a week! Really pleased we've found a new regular. No idea how much it cost, but after tasting the food, I don't really care. Awesome food and it arrived 25 minutes earlier than expected. I don't give out 5* very often, but this place would've got a 7*. Needless to say, we'll be ordering again. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The food is always great. I just wish they would wrap their chapati’s in tin foil rather than putting them in a paper bag. By the time the got be they were hard and cold, every time. Will stop ordering them, which is a shame.

Bit disappointed not as good as usual, bhajis a bit hard and cold, food in general just warm. No where near the excellent standard I usually receive.

Food was late but was kept aware that was the situation so ok with that.

We really like it here. Enough to go twice in a week. The menu was quite different to the more generic stuff we see at home. Less greasy and much more tasty. Friendly staff, excellent menu choice for veggies. Don't be put of by the dark exterior making it look like they're closed... They probably aren't and much brighter one inside (we had walked past thinking it was closed but glad to be wrong).

Ate here yesterday for a birthday meal i pre booked 2 tables for 15 of us .. we got their and ordered straght away... starters took about 40 minutes to rock up and then another 45 minutes for our rice to rock up with no curry at the same time... was waiting for the curry about another 20 mintues whilst rice was going cold... waitresses are very young and didnt have much confidence talking to grown ups.. i wouldnt reccomend eating in only takeaway

Not been for about a year but what a difference. No atmosphere. When we've been before was always busy but was so quiet tonight. The food was just so average. We're from Sheffield and love Elland and was looking forward to eating here, but so disappointed tonight.... the young staff are very sweet, heard one of the managers talking to them in not a nice way... uncalled for.

First and last time. Honestly one of the worst takeaways I’ve had in a long time, puri was soggy and inedible. The kids korma was meant to be mild, I wrote a note stating ‘please make extra mild my child doesn’t do spice’ yet it came and it was spicy? My child ate boiled rice for tea. Food was poor.

I really wanted to enjoy this. The masala fish was terrible and had zero flavour. I left most of it as it was a waste of time eating it. The garlic chilli chicken as basically brown water with really cheap tough chicken. Again, zero flavour and zero spice. I left most of it as it was not pleasant to eat at all. The most disappointing curry I have had in years.

First class food and service if a little on the expensive side. 9/10

My food still isn't here it hasn't even left. We ordered at 5pm told would be here at 6.10 then between 6 35-6.55. Rang up still not left. Not happy, want a partial refund.

The food (as always) was great. The problem was the time it took to wait and event after I called to check how delayed it was going to be it was still later, with no apology. Small tweaks and attention to customer service would make all the difference. Be honest with me, keep me in the loop and be more realistic with delivery times at busy people would make all the difference.

As always, excellent food delivered bang on time. Prawn on puree best I have ever tasted and Akhtar's make me my favourite even though it isn't on the menu.

Had dinner with my family on new years eve. First time eating in after using Akhtars for takeaways for a year and it's even better than the takeaway !!! Can bring your own booze (massive plus) Definitely coming back!!!

Butter chicken was too hot for the wife. Tikka masala was hotter then expected. After saying this all food was amazing and no ghee. Ordered a milder one for the wife and was bang on

Pleasantly surprised. I had to wait 40 mins but it was Saturday night & very busy. My meal was authentic, hot & fresh . I ordered masala fish & meat handi & both were delicious. I will ring to order next time but will deffinatly return. I enjoyed my meal.

Well I have gone passed this place so many times so thought it was time to drop in and have some food. The place is very large inside and so many confused staff!! It must have been training day. Food was served prompt and actually very tasty. Got a great deal for a starter and a main for around £13. So the deal is its cash only and you need to bring your own beer and wine....I will return!!

Very disappointed eat curry all over me and misses went we ordered a pickle tray b4 we had finished that the starter was here, u sed OKs don't bring mail for at least 20 mins, when main came I had madras it was tasteless, awfull I couldn't eat it my misses had lamb with potatoes she only cud eat the potatoes what a disappointed won't be going again, staff was friendly just need a decent chef.

Came here after 2years. Under new management. Food under par. Service abit slow and left alone, no-one came to attend to us. Lamb chops like rubber. Chicken pakora really dry, no sauces with starters. Gone down hill. From 5 stars to 2 stars.

Me and my fiancé just got a takeaway from here (first time) and we are SO HAPPY! We'd been struggling to find a decent Indian and this place is really delicious! The food tasted fresh and super flavourful, not at all greasy and decently priced. It's just round the corner from us as well which might be bad for our bank account...oops! The delivery guy was also lovely. Will definitely be ordering again! Thank you for everything, we're no longer hangry :)

Spent almost £50 on a takeaway which was delivered timely within 40 minutes. However, the chicken pakoras were extremely dry, onion bhajis were completely tasteless, both curries had plenty of meat however the sauce on both was like water. The nann bread was hard and crispy and the chips were greasy and tasted like they’d been cooked in old oil. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the poppadoms. Unfortunately all of the food ended up going in the bin.

Starters are still really good, faultless, but recently the curries have taken a down turn, lamb on the bone was my go to, it was amazing, but now the lamb is poor, the sauce it comes in is a bland 'gravy', went with a friend ladt week and we used to take any leftovers home, we both left half a curry each, the waitress did a table check and i aired our grievances which i hope she passed on......lovely decor, lovely starters, great waitresses, but curries lose it 2 stars. So sorry guys.

The last time I ordered was when it was under the name of “Hanifs” the chicken masala was beautiful. This time it was nothing like the last time, I’m presuming this is due to change. Very disappointed i couldn’t even eat it. There was no masala but water and it looked like it had been solely cooked in Haldi. ( turmeric). Everything else was edible - Oh and would have preferred a receipt so I know how much I’ve paid for what .

Nice friendly staff. Clean and tidy environment. Food was tasty. Quite expensive but the quality was good. I really enjoyed the masala fish. You can bring your own alcohol if you want. Hopefully they will be getting a card machine soon. The owner stated he was going to get one on Elland Banter. I like the option to pay by card. I appreciate there is a cash machine across the road but I personally prefer to pay by card, cleaner and safer than carrying cash around. Five stars if they get a machine installed 😉

Me and my partner come here often, this is the only place outside of Bradford that I enjoy. The food is usually very fresh & tasty. No card accepted, bring cash and your own alcohol.

Ordered a Tawa chicken and got sent something totally different, was definitely not a tawa chicken, food was not up to its normal standards. Maybe a chiefs off day however when dealing with food there should never be a off day
