It’s not Jackie at Trumbull’s any more. Very rude women on the till, food very average would not recommend this place there are much better places in Northallerton will never go again and check what you pay for is what you get.

The guys at Turnbulls were very very friendly and extremely polite. They showed care in me as a customer by being professional but personal - it made me feel very welcome. The quality of the chips were awesome! Definitely going again soon haha! A big thank you to the team for brightening my day. Keep up the good work.

Two lovely ladies (one of them is Jackie) at "Jackie At Turnbull's" who like a bit of banter and make you feel very welcome. However, this place closes at a ridiculously early time of 7.30 pm each night and the fish and chips were ordinary and nothing better.

Ok so I have lived in Northallerton a long time, and was going for a Chinese tonight, but they were shut. Needless to say I saw Jackie at Turnbulls were open so thought why not try after quite a few years. Well I was not disappointed, both ladies were very welcoming on arrival, and all my fish was cooked fresh, and in no time at all. All the food was amazing, and its now my only fish and chip shop I will be visiting in Northallerton.

I have been a regular for about a year but when it was closed for a couple of weeks I did try the other two chip shops. In my opinion, taking into consideration, price, quality, taste, friendly and efficient service, Turnbulls is the best fish and chip shop in the town.

Really slow service which was unacceptable having to wait 45mins in a queue of only 12-15 people. The fish and chips were probably the worst we'd ever tasted- the chips were smothered in so much oil and the fish was overcooked and the batter soggy. We will not be returning here!

This chip shop used to be really good but it's now just awful. I've tried it twice, the first time the service was extremely slow and when I eventually got my fish and chips it was really poor quality. Second time I was stood waiting with another 5 people for about 15 mins. No one was served in that time. Two people behind the counter who were talking to each other, no explanation to what the delay was. When I asked I got a very rude reply from the female. I will never be going back again and will not recommend it.

The business has been in operation for quite a number of years by one family. After a couple of changes in recent times, it is now rebranded Jacky's at Turnbulls. The ladies who run the chip shop are always friendly and provide lovely fish and chips. The opening hours are most lunchtimes and early evenings, closing between 7.30 and 8pm. A late supper is out of the question. It's no frills, just good fish and chips as the name over the door says.

The man behind the counter was very pleasant and interested in his customers making conversation. He has good skills in that respect. However, I ordered fish and chips £4.80 but on arrival home the fish was extremely greasy and was poor. The chips were that far gone in the quality and so tough the whole portion ended up in the bin. I didn't return for a refund as there seemed little point just for fish and chips. If this business is to succeed, then improvements in the quality of the product has to improve. Such a shame to have to say this.

Did not enjoy this meal. Sausages were very greasy. The chips were cold and very chewy. Most disappointing on a wet night

This business has been open for many many years under one ownership, however, over last two years there has been two changes in owners. But the quality of fish sold has not deteriorated and the prices are still better than others in the area.

Not a bad place to eat for a cheap meal, staff friendly, prices good, but toilets 4 miles away and tables beyond sticky.

Excellent cafe. Steak nights on Friday each month were rather special. Fabulous breakfast and cafe. Brilliant locally sourced and home made produce. Well run and fabulous venue. Will be missed

Living locally we use Thomas The Baker fairly often and find their rolls tasty and good value for money- their Wensleydale Cheese and chutney roll is my favourite. Staff are friendly. Would recommend.

Enjoyed our Sunday lunch only downside was the beef was a bit anemic no taste and the gravy a bit watery. But hey the chap is doing his best beef should have been cooked in gravy mix

Lovely carvery meal at Arcadia near Stokesley today. Unfortunately the inner automatic door remained open so when the outer door opened everyone in the lower floor area was subjected to cold air from outside. The two automatic doors are supposed to create an airlock to minimise heat loss so this needs fixing asap.
