ARCADIA GARDEN RESTURANT Never again will we return. There are certain standards that people have and this place isn't mine. The resturant is like walking into the 70s. The bread on the sandwich was grey and limp the lasagna was orange cheese with no flavour and hardly any meat and of course the chips are frozen oven chips terrible. I should have know as soon as I walked in but I didn't and paid £29 for 2 meals and I couldn't face eating the sandwich so left it. It wasnt even worth explaining to any staff as they truly think they are serving good food. The quality of food is terrible and the place is too big. Again it's about standards and some diners will think it's the best! Please dont reply with apologies as in other comments as it is not good enough!.

ordered prawn marie rose sandwich which I had ordered previously and enjoyed. However today very disappointing. After half an hour wait was served two slices of bread with mostly salad inside and had to search for the prawns and sauce. More like shrimps and fairy tasteless.

Have used this garden centre in Teesside for quite a number of years now. Always a vast number of items to choose from and at Christmas, the selection is superb. Added to that, the restaurant is top-notch. Always enjoy eating there! We'll continue to return to this great garden centre for as long as possible.

First time in here after passing on my way to work numerous times. I didnt get far round as spent most of my time in the Pavers shoe shop which is just to the left as you go inside. First visit today with family that live in the area. Will definitely be visiting again. I am gluten free and the food in the restaurant was absolutely top notch, the selection was excellent and the cakes were out of this world. A full shelf of gluten free cakes to choose from! I have not been anywhere that has had such a large amount of GF cakes, I was in cake heaven so had to pick 2 different ones to take home with me. The staff knew how important GF food was for me and were very reassuring about the cakes being GF, and the portion sizes were fantastic. Customer service second to none, well done to everyone there.

The large range of plants in this garden centre are usually in good condition, even the ones on the sale table. It's a bit of a wandering one way system around the site. My wife isn't keen on the cafeteria "it's like a large open canteen with no atmosphere " but I haven't been there myself. The Pavers shoe shop is popular and they have occasional savings on the already discounted shoes. Lots of space to park.

I like Arcadia, it's a good place to visit. Whether you're on a horticultural jaunt or looking for unusual gift ideas, I'm always happy when my wife suggests a trip there. Having seen some unusual boots on a recent visit, I suggested to one of our daughters that she might like to have a look at them. We went, and she was indeed interested in a couple of pairs of Dr Marten 'look a likes' at a fraction of the cost. Bouyed by our purchase we went to the cafe for a drink and snack, which diminished our visit somewhat. Biscoff brownie (I think) and fruit scone with jam (clotted cream not available) called to us, and we yielded to temptation. Gosh, I wish we hadn't. Both were dry and majorly disappointing. Oh-so-near to an excellent experience.

We love a day out here, we usually go at Christmas but we thought it would be good to go in summer so my children could enjoy the outside play equipment too. We had a carvery lunch first which was nice. Quite pricey but we enjoyed it and would eat it again. When we went to the little dinos soft play, we were really disappointed. We've been before plenty of times but this time is was absolutely filthy. To the point I took my baby out, out of fear he might put things in his mouth. The floor tiles of the soft play had gaps between where they had moved and inbetween you could see the filth on the floor. It looked like it hadn't been hoovered underneath for months. It was VERY noticeable, so there's no way staff could tidy up the soft play and not realise it needed a hoover. When we sat to have a drink, my partner pointed to the corner of the window by the door way to enter the building and the build up of cobwebs was unbelievable. I feel like my outdoor, spider infested garden shed would be a cleaner place for my children to play.

Quiet but friendly place, there's a decent selection of patio furniture to look at considering the size of their building. They also had a decent selection of bedding plants. I visited Little Dinos Soft Play with my two daughters. It was my 3 year olds birthday so we thought we’d treat her and her little sister to lunch out and a play.  My 11 month old was in the ball pit playing with me when an older child grabbed her dress and scratched her face and head until she was screaming. The mother pulled him off after a few seconds and very casually just said “oh sorry about that.”  My baby’s face was bleeding and covered in scratches so I immediately picked her up and removed her from the area.  A few minutes later another parent who I know from nursery approached me to ask what had happened so I pointed out the little boy and said that he had grabbed and scratched her. When the mother of said boy came over and started screaming and shouting at me saying that I was “calling her son” and asking if I wanted her to “batter him” to make me feel better over the incident. I responded by saying that I was simply letting my friend know what happened as she could see the damage to her head. She continued to scream and shout in my face and tried to get her friends to join in. I just walked away and took my baby to get cleaned up and put a cold compress on her head.   Around ten minutes later the deputy manager came in to speak to me and the group of women started shouting over “oh she’s got the manager involved! He’s only one! Grow up!” And kept saying it was an ‘accident’ - take a look at the photos, it was no accident. She looks like she was mauled by an animal!!   I hadn’t notified anyone, it was a different member of staff who went to get help after she saw the mother shouting at me while holding my bleeding baby.  The deputy manager then spoke to the women and did absolutely nothing, she seemed more annoyed that she now needed to write an incident report. She kept saying “kids will be kids” but the issue was the aggressive mother who was shouting in my face while I was holding my baby and my toddler nearby. She just left them to it and they were continuing to say things about us. So we just packed up and left. The entire place felt incredibly hostile and didn’t feel comfortable letting my girls play with that child still in there after seeing the damage he caused in only a few seconds.  All we wanted was a nice trip out for my little girls 3rd birthday and we left with an upset toddler after witnessing a group of women shouting at her mother while holding her baby sister. And my 11 month old full of scratches all over her face and head.  This is completely unacceptable, that place is supposed to be a fun and safe place for our children. Parents should not be able to act like that with no consequences whatsoever. The way we were treated was absolutely disgusting and having multiple children witnessing it too with no staff member standing up to deal with it.  I now feel like I’d think twice before bringing my daughters back here if the parents can act worse than the children.  I’ve since had an email response from the centre but it was from the deputy manager who I was complaining about. So I feel this is just inappropriate and it should be passed on to higher management

Apart from the obvious plants and gardening equipment there is a large area devoted to garden furniture and outdoor dining,an area selling pavers shoes, an area for clothing, one for toys and another with displays of jewellery, soaps, scented candles ,pictures and soft furnishing to name but a few. There is a large cafe/ restaurant selling a good range of snacks, drinks and meals and there is also a carvery. Within the cafe there is a designated area for those with dogs. The children's play area looked OK and although we didn't go in,there was a separate indoor soft play building. Definitely worth a visit

Nice garden centre with amenities for kids. Nice restaurant if a little understaffed and lengthy counter service. If you do visit the restaurant, be prepared for a long walk to the exit for if you have walking difficulties.

Enjoyed our Sunday lunch only downside was the beef was a bit anemic no taste and the gravy a bit watery. But hey the chap is doing his best beef should have been cooked in gravy mix

Food was tasty. However the crusted cod ordered by 2 of our party was served with a very meagre amount of tiny pieces of crispy potatoes. It was like 3 chips chopped up. I pointed this out to the girl serving as it was more like a starter. She took it back to the kitchen and quickly returned to say chef was making some more. I had to laugh and I think even the serving girl was embarrassed when she brought me a tiny bowl you’d normally get mayo/ketchup in with another very meagre portion of potato pieces! Also it was meant to be served with creamed leeks and there must have been a leek shortage too! Saying that the other 2 party members had significantly larger portions, a gammon and a sizzler. When the plates were cleared I also informed the guy of the issue with the potatoes served with the cod. He asked the other person if hers was the same and she had said she wasn’t bothered by the small portion, she does not have much appetite and often has a starter instead of main. It’s a shame I came home hungry and I’m not a big eater myself. I’d consider going again but if you’re hungry give the crusted cod a miss! Edit 22/10/24. The owner rang me last week to discuss and apologise. He told me he would be speaking to the manager and would get back to me.

Living locally we use Thomas The Baker fairly often and find their rolls tasty and good value for money- their Wensleydale Cheese and chutney roll is my favourite. Staff are friendly. Would recommend.

Reserved a table online for a small family reunion. Clearly a popular spot and there were a lot of people milling around outside and drinking outside the pubs on the main street. Service inside was good and there was a good choice of food which was very tasty. Sadly there was a large group of well watered men booked onto the table next to us, in the area by the bar, which completely spoilt the last half of our meal as we simply couldn't hear each other talking. It was a real shame that staff didn't consider putting us in the other part of the restaurant where there were several empty tables all evening, or relocating us for the last part of our meal when it would have been obvious we could no longer converse or hear. .... this would have made all the difference. (It would have been awkward having to ask to be moved ... but care from front of house staff could have carefully relocated us.)
