Absolutely dreadful. Stopping for the night ordered food waited 1 hour, the excuse was our table wasn't numbered. Apparently staff shouldn't have taken the order. We were made to feel as if it was our fault. No apology from the manager. Food arrived eventually making us late for our engagement. Arrived back at the hotel 12.15am after a lovely night out to be told by another manager, Calum, that they had stopped serving. I've just explained that we are guests here. He informed me that drinks would be served at the managers discretion and we would no be served. The website clearly states that the bar is open until 1am. Initially he refused to give his name but the provided the name Calum. Whilst at the bar at least 6 people were refused drinks. Disgraceful arrogant attitude, dreadful service. I will not be returning.

Had a full English breakfast here and it was the worst I've ever had. The mushrooms were either our of date or overcooked, I couldn't tell because I couldn't even cut them with my knife. The hash browns tasted strange and I didn't eat them, the eggs were slightly under cooked, the sausages and black pudding okay. The drinks machine only partially worked it seemed to be low on water. You can't make a cup of tea with your preferred amount of milk as the machine dispenses it into your cup and you end up with milky frothy crap tasting tea. The place didn't feel particularly clean. Won't be going back again. Thirsk is lovely however, and the White Horse over the road serve great fish and chips.

This was a superb pub for lunch, with a colosseum structure held up by pillars! The walls have an ancient feel and counter is well-presented too, where I was served by friendly staff in an efficient line system. I really enjoyed the Chicken Strips with honey dip and chips meal, accompanied by a fresh pint of Leffe! The seating area was kept well for a busy period, service speed was definitely on point as well there.

Went in for breakfast this morning. Took 20 minutes to get breakfast which isn’t the worst but when arrived was cold and no mushrooms on the large breakfast. When asked staff she had to get the menu to check and said they would send some over with no apology. When the girl came over with them she just put them on the table and left saying nothing, the Mushrooms were hardly cooked when they eventually did arrived. No one came and asked if everything was ok with our breakfast. Probably won’t return.

A very busy Saturday night, food for three of us took 40 minutes, not too bothered about that if the food was good, but sadly it wasn’t. My fish & chips was ridiculously overcooked and then had been kept warm, so when it arrived the meal was barely tepid. Chicken tikka for my sister was also lukewarm and had been kept warm, a skin had formed on the curry. Naan snapped in half it was so hard. The food is inexpensive.. we ate what we could because we didn’t want to wait for it to be re-cooked and certainly did not want it reheated. We would not visit again.

Not great, we ordered and waited as we were told they were short staffed, not a problem, we had coffee, breakfast came and it was cold (full traditional), so we sent it back, it was returned with warm eggs but everything else was cold still, plus there was no butter for the toast. We ate a bit but left the rest. And we weren't the only ones, three tables did the same, the waste of food was shocking. One tip I could advise is warm the plates first this may help.

It is what it is: a Wetherspoons. And, as such, you expect certain things which The Three Tuns delivers: 1. Cheap food. 2. Huge menu. 3. Cheap drinks. 4. Lots of people. 5. A bit grubby. 6. A lovely old building. 7. Blue and white floral plates. My point being: if you go to a Wetherspoons, you go knowing what to expect and that is not silver service or haute cuisine. Hence, my average rating...this is your every day, average Wetherspoons and therefore we had no complaints.

I explained to the manager that I already spoke to member of staff on arrival And asked if we were allowed to eat with our service Dog and I showed them my identification and she agreed is was absolutely fine. But then the manager approached me in front of the pub and told me to leave as my dog wasn’t wearing a jacket to show she was a service dog and other customers would be upset. I said this was not a legal obligation and I showed my id yet again. I also asked would u also like me to wear a jacket to and let all the pub know myself and my son is disabled. He continued to argue with me and said well if u go in the corner so no one would see you then you can stay, He made us feel so small. We were able to find a table and after asking for the table to be cleaned as I think the horse race goers had recently left we ordered food at the bar as the app wasn't working but fast, friendly staff took the order and all food arrived hot and correct. We went back for breakfast on the Sunday morning, all spotlessly clean and the app worked fine and all got and fresh lovely food and even tho we did have a sausage missing this was quickly sorted. I generally like Wetherspoons and give good reviews but this place was different. We started outside but there wasn't a non-smoking area outside, so it was quite uncomfortable for non-smokers... The table was sticky too! We went inside and that was no better, sticky tables, people vaping and generally without atmosphere... Maybe because the place has many small rooms. We went to the pub across the way (Black Bull). Not as cheap for a pint but clean tables and a better atmosphere without the vapes.

We stopped here for some food on the way to Harrogate. We ordered a "Chargrilled" half chicken and mash and a Katsu curry. The food took 45 minutes to arrive. The chicken looked grey, slightly anaemic, and was pretty horrid. The mash was clearly microwaved/powdered. Either way, it was disgusting. The Katsu curry actually tasted pretty good but was let down by the chicken, which had hard (inedible) bits on it. The reason for 3* is the staff, as despite clearly being pushed to the limit, they were polite and friendly. The setting was also very pleasant.

It was a wonderful Valentine’s Night ! The tables were decorated to create a romantic ambience as we sipped our welcoming Prosecco . We enjoyed a delicious melted Camembert starter followed by a Mediterranean vegetable tart for the wife and a large juicy Sirloin steak cooked to my liking for me . The Sweet potato fries and triple cooked chips were excellent!. To finish we shared a plate of profiteroles , strawberries , cream and a pot of melted chocolate ! There was a well chosen romantic playlist and we were served by pleasant and attentive staff. It was indeed a great night !

Friendly, good wholesome food and drink at very reasonable prices. Comfortable. We visit every time we are in Northallerton.
