Rented a cottage for a week in the village. 2 miles past bedale and 7 miles from Northallerton. On edge of the Yorkshire dales. Family run pub. Home cooked food. Had drinks 5 nights out of 7. Relaxing to sit outside (we had the weather, end of July) and watch the many farm vehicles going back and too. Pub is about 50-80 yards setback off the road. Pub does takeaway chips. Had a 4 person meal on last night(dinner and dessert) and 2 rounds of drinks. Change out of £100.

We have just had the most lovely Sunday dinner here, my wife had roast beef whilst I had roast chicken both with Yorkshire puddings & all the trimmings. A generous helping of home made apple crumble and custard rounded the meal off perfectly. This little local pub has a lovely friendly atmosphere and I am happy to recommend it with 5 stars

Fantastic dog friendly place with welcoming landlords and home cooked Sunday dinner. Holidaying in the area we decided to call in one night for a drink and received a warm welcome from the landlords Kim and Brian. They told us about their bingo night the following night so we decided to go along and are so glad we did, it was fun. The place was packed with friendly locals and we were made to feel welcome so much so that we booked in for Sunday lunch the following day. Sunday lunch was excellent as were the desserts. The portions were hot and plentiful and there was a good selection of vegetables. My husband had apple crumble with custard for dessert and I had ice-cream. A two course meal cost £16 per person so we were really pleased. We've eaten a few Sunday lunches on our caravan travels now and can honestly say this is the best one we have ever had. We would recommend it to others and will certainly call back when we are in the area. Thank you very much for an enjoyable weekend.

We were staying in a holiday home just a few minutes walk from this lovely pub. Although we didn’t eat here we came in a couple of times over the weekend. The landlord (Bri) was really welcoming and despite us being a loud group of 8 women we were given a vip table so we could watch the rugby on tv. Our night of drinking and dancing was fantastic and all the staff were really friendly. Would recommend this lovely place especially if you want a good knees up with some lovely regular patrons.

We were staying in Crakehall so this pub was on the doorstep. My partner had booked a table for 7pm and asked for a bottle of wine to be on the table as a surprise. They didn’t disappoint. When we arrived we were shown to our table which was in the bay window, looking out at the wonderful greenery with a bottle of wine waiting, it was perfect. I am coeliac so eating out can be a struggle. However, the owner came and sat with us and talked through the menu options for me. He explained he had changed the oil that day so it was fresh and safe for the chips. He had saved a gammon steak as my choice was limited so wanted to give me more to choose from. I went for the gammon and my partner went for the chicken curry. It was great food. The atmosphere was very family orientated. We couldn’t have asked for anything better, it was perfect, thank-you!

The bar was empty save for one local and the owner sat chatting by the fire, but it was Friday afternoon. I'm aware of a number of positive reviews but we weren't impressed, the owner was friendly and the beer good, however the place needed a good clean. The tables were sticky one was empty but not cleared from a meal. The upholstery was well worn which is not necessarily a problem but it looked like it needed a good clean, perhaps it looks better at night. We were planning to eat but decided against it and went into Northalerton as there is no where else in Crakehall to eat. Nothing that could not be sorted out relativly easily, which was perhaps as dissapointing.

Came with family and 2yr old for Sunday lunch. Exceeded our expectations. Came with great choice of 6 veg, Yorkshire pud, mash potato and gorgeous roast potatoes. Everything was fresh and well cooked, large portions. I’m veggie and puds and roasties cooked in veggie oil so was really pleased I could have everything. Roasties we’re nice and crispy. Traditional desserts: crumble, sticky toffee, ginger sponge or chocolate sponge all delicious. Staff and landlord very friendly. Had a booster seat for child which worked out ideal. As the landlord himself, they’re a pub that does food, not a restaurant. The pub has quite dated interior, not modern, but don’t doubt how amazing the Sunday lunch is!

We ordered a roast beef lunch which was excellent. The roast beef was plentiful, tender and very tasty. There was also plenty of veg which was cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire pudding was also really good and it was obvious that free range eggs had been used due to the lovely golden colour. Extra gravy was also supplied which was nice and warm, rich and tasty. And all at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be back for sure.

Had a weekend away at Kings Cottage in Crakehall and this was literally a minutes walk. Went in for a little session on Saturday afternoon and had a great time. Cider and beers were well kept and very good. While there we booked a Sunday lunch and on our return the following day we weren't disappointed. We actually told Brian, the landlord, that it was the best Pub Sunday Lunch we'd had in years. The mash was lovely and buttery. The veg (carrot, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower and brilliantly, leek. Weren't mushy and very well cooked. The roasties were crispy, covered in meaty flavour and the beef wasnt overcooked, all topped of with a homemade yorkshire pudding. Proper! Thanks to Brian and Pete (Happy Birthday) for making us feel so welcome and making our little weekend away so nice.
