Had beautiful lunch, I chose the afternoon tea for one, which consisted of a sandwich, pot of tea, coffee with either a scone, jam and cream or Victoria sponge. Hubby had ham and cheese panini, tea and a scone with jam and cream. Ham was beautiful, flavoursome and very lean (very important for me as I'm a fussy eater). Both the scone and the Victoria sponge were homemade and fresh. Cream was high quality and freshly whipped ( not the clotted cream run you so often get these days). All very reasonably priced with really friendly wait staff. Will definitely return. Thank you

This once lovely tea room is being run into the ground, poor service or lack of any in some cases. Costco cakes and wholesale produce doesn’t cut it in today’s world where the market is saturated with high quality home baked goods and locally sourced produce. Really sad to see such an asset declining - not had a lick of paint in 5yrs. Port Sunlight deserves better! Time to improve or move on and let someone else make a success of it

Wonderful little tea room on the doorstep of Port Sunlight train station & its best to book a table as it gets very busy in the afternoon. We had a cream tea & it's one of the best we have ever had. They don't take credit cards, so it's cash or a credit transfer, & well worth visiting.

We visited here because our son gave us a gift voucher for an ‘Victorian Afternoon Tea’. We booked ahead and upon arrival we were sat at a lovely window table-ideal for watching the world go by! We were told our food would consist of sandwiches with a filling of our choice, a slice of cake (which was huge), again our choice plus other small cakes and two scones with cream and jam. Service was very quick, our teas arrived first followed quickly by our three tier cake stand-very impressive presentation! Sandwiches were freshly made with abundant filling, there was salad and crisps too. The cakes were scrumptious as were the scones! We couldn’t finish everything so we were given a bag to take leftovers home. It was a lovely experience and a must visit place if you’re in Port Sunlight 🤗

We came today for afternoon tea and it was our first visit. My friend booked an afternoon tea for my birthday. You were able to choose your sandwich and cake and came with a scone and extra little cakes. It was very good value for money and delicious! Everything was so fresh! Staff were so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming back again. A little hidden gem! How lucky for the locals to have this on their doorstep!

I’ll never know how good their food is! Table reservation for 2pm for afternoon tea. There on time table pointed out to us and that was the only interaction for the next 20 minutes. Small place so couldn’t miss us sitting there. One staff member behind cake counter drinking a mug of tea. Another 2 joined her for a chat! We had assumed wait was due to afternoon tea being prepared but a bit annoyed not offered our drinks while we waited. When waitress finally came to us she apologised for our wait, that would have been acceptable if we’d seen her run off her feet for our 20 minutes in that time she’d delivered one hot chocolate to table next to us. She then said have you picked your sandwiches we were a bit confused by this. She then explained we picked a sandwich each and a slice of cake and said would you like more time!! She went away to get our drinks. We were both very annoyed by this stage she could have easily have advised us to select items on our arrival as this isn’t the usual way afternoon teas are done and we still had to wait. At this point we had reached the really annoyed stage! I explained we were not staying any longer due to this awful lack of service and that I was particularly annoyed as it was a treat for my husbands birthday. My husband believes that it’s due to being the only cafe in Port Sunlight village they don’t need to be bothered 😕

We were initially stumped by the steps, which were quite deep, but we made it. We had a lovely welcome and managed to get the last table. The menu was extensive. Sandwiches, jackets, salads, jackets , soup and so much more. We decided on the vegetable soup and a sandwich I had the ham , which was really fresh and well filled( it did come with mango, but I didn't want it) my Mum had the egg, it was bound with a small amount of mayonnaise. She said it was excellent. The soup was hot and very tasty. I had a cafeteria of coffee, I brought my own oat milk, as they only had soya. The coffee was good and not bitter. My Mum had the tea, which came in tea leaf form. She said it was good. We had cake afterwards a lemon and carrot, both excellant. Throughout the time we were there, the tearooms emptied and refilled. They accept cash only or bank transfer. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We'd definitely go back.

Walked in and all tables reserved, this should not be allowed as they haven’t enough tables to cater for reserved people and non. Lady serving was rude and said we would have to have them outside. Coffee was not nice, whilst sitting outside they turned lots of people away as put reserve on all tables. Would not go back and never recommend!

On several occasions I have passed this place to find it closed. Luckily this time it was open; friendly and welcoming staff soon found us a table despite the small space and number of customers. It was a time warp, but in a very good way: china crockery, proper teapots, and a real afternoon tea which comes in two versions, full and not-so-full. We found that one of the smaller versions was quite adequate for two people. The only snag is the very restricted opening hours.

Having found this place closed on previous visits, we were delighted to be given a warm welcome by the pleasant and helpful staff. They were busy but we were soon seated and the various afternoon tea options were explained to us. It was like stepping back in time, but in a really good way. We settled for the £9.95pp 'sandwich and cake' menu; that price in many places would hardly buy a slice of cake. We were promptly brought elegant china crockery, with a teapot each (we had ordered different types of tea) and a tiered stand with sandwiches, a large scone with generous portions of cream and jam (at this distance from Devon I don't think it matters which goes on first), and an enormous slice of Victoria sponge. Everything was extremely fresh and probably home made. Each teapot contained at least three cups of tea. The only negative is that they close early: four pm as I recall, and they stop serving food long before then. Port Sunlight is well worth a detour; Tudor Rose makes it worth the journey.

While walking Port Sunlight on foot we loved the sound of the Tudor Rose and so headed there rather than say the cafe at Lady Lever. We had the worst ever coffees. Filter served in a cafetière. Mine was very weak and watery. The other, decaf, was weak and unpleasant with an unpleasant aftertaste. The server was unconcerned when we told her and still charged full price. By the way, it is a tea room that does not do Earl Grey. Port Sunlight is great. Won’t be returning to the tearoom. Other things to note: pleasant enough inside, cakes looked OK and they don’t take card payment.

Went today with a friend, they had the chilli baked potato and the brie and mango toastie. I had afternoon tea for one. I love my afternoon teas and normally would travel into Wales for a decent one, NOT ANY MORE..... This was the best I have had. Proper china cup and saucer, real loose leaf tea and a strainer. The Ham on the sandwich was lovely, thick and tasty (not the prepacked stuff that usually is served). The scones were home made and fresh and the cream was real double cream (not squirty cream) EVERY thing was spot on . The chilli baked potato was really well enjoyed as was the toastie, all meals were served with salad and the toastie also had crisps with it. Judging by the amount of customers buying food in or to take out the Tea Room is a little gem and should be shared by all who like lovely food in what I would call a Proper Tea Rooms. Would recommend this tea room over Bettys in York any day, prices where better too.

My Mum, Sister and I decided to call in here on the off chance that a table was available for tea and cake. After looking at the menu I decided to get the afternoon tea for one which was absolutely delicious. Pot of tea, choice of sandwiches to choose from and a huuuge slice of victoria sponge cake for a very reasonable £8.50. The cafe was busy and the lady who was working was very efficient considering the number of people she was looking after. She was very polite and friendly and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Food was a bit disappointing but I was taken aback by a poster with a golliwog hanging on the wall - an old Rowntrees one. I don't think it's possible to be unaware of the racist connotations of that character in 2021 and it doesn't send a particularly welcoming message to black customers. Could be easily replaced by another vintage poster and nothing would be lost.

The tea room is clean and comfortable. There is a cabinet displaying cakes. The menu offers the sorts of things you would expect in a tea shop - sandwiches, jacket potatoes, afternoon tea etc. We ordered tuna melt panini, tea for one and a cola. The cola was warm and cost £1.50 and the paninis were £5.45 each. The food was okay, but nothing special. I was disappointed in the decor, which can only be described as 'cluttered country cottage', as I thought it should reflect the style of when the village was built. We stopped for a light lunch after exploring Port Sunlight. It was amazing to sit in this 'time capsule'. There is a photo on the wall, behind the till, of the building in the 1940s or thereabouts, and it looks just the same outside. Inside, it is a bit of a clutter of bric-a-brac on the shelves, a mixture of old and new childrens' toys. Our tea came with 'proper' loose tea and strainer, and our snack, although it took a little while to arrive, was nice, presented well and tasty. My sister and I called in while on a coach trip, as we had already had fish and chips in an indoor market cafe in West Kirkby 3 hours earlier we couldn't manage the full afternoon tea. We had tea for two and a fruit scone each with the usual butter, jam and cream, half a strawberry on the scone, total I think was £11.40; I also bought a piece of lemon drizzle cake to take out.The decor was lovely with lots to look at including teapots, pictures, and fancy salt and pepper pots. Every small detail from the table cloth and the glittery flower on the table to the warm atmosphere of the staff and the tea cosy you get to keep your tea or coffee warm.My boyfriend ordered a chocolate cake and it look as good as he said it tasted. I will be revisiting and recommending it to everyone.

I took my mum who is 89 for lunch here today. She really enjoyed it and we both enjoyed the sandwiches that we had. Tea in a teapot made with leaves just how mum likes it"proper way" as mum puts it. The only fault is that it's not bigger, but lovely just the same

The perfect tearoom! at the centre of this quaint little neighbourhood and opposite the train station, it could not be more convenient. The scones are some of the best we have had, slightly warm, crisp on the outside and soft and fresh on the inside. The soup and bacon bap was laso excellent. Service is friendly and with a smile. We left satisfied and very happy.

It's out of a storybook tale! Yes, there's tea and scones, but it also does a whole lot of sandwiches, soup, cakes and hot beverages. The shelves on the walls house collections of everything a fairytale tea room should have, including Harry Potter's wand. It's located in the picturesque village of Port Sunlight, and in truth the surrounds need to be visited and walked through. There are few tables inside, and only a couple outside, so if you have a pet - you may find yourself waiting for a seat at a table outside. The staff are friendly, and know the local history really well. If you get the 'right' lady, she'll give you some history about the area you're in.

Stopped at the cafe whilst on walk around port sunlight. Sat outside in the sun. Coffee was fine though the cake was a bit heavy on the cream!

My husband and I live locally and had been walking seeing the architecture. We decided to go to the Tea Rooms for a toasted sandwich with salad and a cream tea. Very disappointed when the sandwich arrived with one small tomato, and a piece of lettuce - a salad? The scone was dry which I commented to the young lady serving us and she said they were made today. We thought the whole meal was overpriced at over £18! and felt that the prices were due to the location - just outside the train station where passers-by may frequent. Inside looked cosy from the outside but was cluttered inside with toy bears, dolls and toys on shelves? Perhaps it may work better by keeping it more streamlined. Or, painting a skyline of the factory, The Dell, or gallery??

Not a bad café but was really disappointed to find that a cake I thought was home made was being sold at several other local cafes but cheaper.

Came to this beautiful little tea rooms last Friday day, The two members of staff working on this day were lovely and really helped me and my friends feel like part of the village. We ordered a toasty a salad plate and a croissant with ham cheese and pineapple and everything was very well prepared and presented and very tasty. We ordered cream teas for afters. These have got to be the best scones I have ever tasted. Thank you to the lady and gentleman servers who made our experience so good. Used to go here a lot, but it has really lost its way. My wife asked for an extra pot of hot water to go with her tea and the "waiter" first laughed at her and then said we could be charged an extra 20 pence, he then said he would talk to the kitchen. I had a coffee which was undrinkable. This was like stepping back in time for all the wrong reasons. And it used to be so Nice!

Came here last Sunday with a friend on our first trip to Port Sunlight. Service was dreadful, the two young staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. We were told they had "ran out" of multiple items we had asked for (despite the tearoom being pretty empty) and when our food eventually did arrive it was below average. The 'latte' definitely wasn't a latte and supposedly fresh orange juice tasted cheap and cartoned. Definitely won't be visiting again, looks cute but it awful for the money, bathroom is disgusting and staff are ignorant.

We called in to these tea rooms as was enticed from the very attractive exterior. My wife is a coeliac so needs gluten free options. The sign on the wall stated "if you had any allergies etc please ask the staff and we will be happy to assist" or similar wording. So we asked, the staff were polite but we were told "we have nothing to offer!" However it was pouring with rain so we had a cup of coffee (nicely done) and I asked for one slice of apple pie and cream of the menu blackboard. This seemed to cause some internal debate. When delivered, the presentation was not great although it tasted fine. We asked if my wife could eat her own "emergency fruit bar" of which we were told that this would not be a problem.Half the options on the various menu boards were somewhat unreadable and the whole tea shop was full of "collectable toys" which frankly I would get rid of and make more of the natural inner beauty of the shop.Nothing wrong but quite a memorable experience!. Two minutes down the road is the garden centre tea rooms which frankly looks more inviting and if it had not been raining very heavy we would have left and gone there instead.

This is a great place to eat during a visit to Port Sunlight village. It is a small place but you can generally find somewhere to sit, especially when there are tables set up outside. On sunny days it is lovely to sit out in the sun, watching people pass by. The inside is quaint and interestingly adorned. The food is great and not expensive. Really worth a visit even for a pot of tea and some cakes.

Came here, and the atmosphere is great. A nice little tea-room with windows facing the train-station, there is always something to watch. The staff where lovely and chatty, which adds to experience. A wide selections of drinks, and food - and the prices aren't expensive either. I had a latte, and it was the best latte I have ever had, the coffee cake was wonderful also.I really nice treat, and I will 100% be visiting again.

Being hungry..past my normal mealtime...It didn't help waiting almost 30 minutes to get our order, with another table seemingly getting served before us although they came in after us. My wifes querying of this didn't elicit more than a fairly curt response with no apology. They were obviously very busy, as there were events on in the Village, but our order was just 2 drinks, sandwich and pate platter....not too complicated i wouldn't have thought. The food was decently presented overall , my wife Tuna sandwiches well filled and tasty and drinks were OK but my pate (plentiful) but mediocre quality for £7.50, in my view, and was obviously just basic pate cut up and thrown onto one of those glass potting jars that are all the rage at the moment. Maybe we just caught them at a bad time and I should have checked what sort of pate was on the pate platter, but I left feeling a little dissatisfied and didn't see anything there that would make me want to go back..

Me and my wife visited this little tea shop while staying at a nearby hotel. Port Sunlight itself is a beautiful model village and this tea room is perfectly located. We had a pot of tea and a cream scone with jam. The tea was lovely, served with a strainer as it is made from actual leaf tea.Overall, a very pleasant experience

This place looks grim from the outside but on the inside it is really grim. A menu on the wall that only shows a few selected prices, talking of which fish and chips ,which will take about 15 minutes to cook in dirty oil and served in a tray will set you back £9.60. That's right £9.60 The fryers are covered in filthy oil which the two uninterested serving staff seem incapable of wiping up and the place looks disgusting. Once tried never again !

Service was great, no problem. However the steak let the meal down. Asked for medium rare, but because it was served on a skillet the carried on cook. By the time it was served, the steak was well done.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious—everything we ordered was flavorful and clearly made with care. Our meals arrived swiftly, and each dish was beautifully presented. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy spot with top-notch service and amazing food. Can't wait to return!

Lunchtime walk in. We had the mini roast and dessert deal. Proper veg x3 + roasties and roast chicken/pork. Fruit crumble and custard desert. All washed down with a pot of tea. Tasty and well cooked. Friendly staff and excellent value for money at £10 per head.
