Trillians Rockbar in Newcastle upon Tyne

I’m 15 and went here first when I was about 11. Don’t live in Newcastle but I can confirm it’s the best pub in the toon. Class music and overall atmosphere. Staff are cool and friendly.

La gente allí era lo suficientemente amable, especialmente el portero con quien tuve una pequeña charla. Poco después de nuestra llegada, las bandas subieron al escenario y finalmente nos tambaleamos después de una noche de primera clase. Definitivamente lo verificaría nuevamente.

Dios mío, este bar está muy malcriado por el ignorante y espantoso personal femenino del bar, especialmente la rubia que obviamente no es de Newcastle, la gerencia está haciendo un trabajo excelente pero está decepcionada por esta camarera que cree que dirige el pub, tiene una actitud terrible hacia las personas que solo van al pub para pasar una buena noche fuera para no ser tratadas de manera espantosa por esta chica, DESPÍRATE

At first I was amazed with how it looks. Great stage for bands to perform, lot of different posters from different bands on the walls, really comfy sofa's... The staff is very nice and warm. Definitely I'll come back next time I'll be at Newcastle.

Please do not get rid of the dank. We watched a free gig with a couple of doom bands on a Sunday night and had a great time. It wasn't too busy and had Woodpecker Cider on tap. Well worth a visit.

Management and staff treat customers, especially young people, like dirt. They are rude, unpleasant and unreasonable. Manager swiped band merch onto floor.

Seen loadsa great bands here. Manager, Barbara is well into Punk and continues to put the bands on. UK Subs, Anti Nowhere League, GBH, Vice Squad, the Business, Crashed Out, Fiend, Force Fed Lies, Sick Of It All, Discharge, Peter & Test Tube Babies, English Dogs, Old Firm Casuals, Last Resort, Drongos, the Vile, BillyClub.Also plenty of decent tribute bands, including, Rigid Digits, Motorheadache, Damaged Inc, Metal Militia, 101% Pantera.Get yourselves along on December 28th for Crashed Out.

Went here last Saturday to meet up with my moshing buddy before going to see Slayer at Metro Radio Arena. It was absolutely rammed took me a good 15 minutes to get a drink but that didn’t bother me at all. Beer was good and the atmosphere is awesome! Why have I not been here before is the question. Anyway, overall it’s a great Rock Bar. Would definitely go back. 5 Skulls.. I meant Stars!

Called in for a couple of beers at 5pm on 2nd Nov before a Blackberry Smoke Concert at the O2.Served at the bar by a blonde female.She needs to learn how to smile,how to look like she's happy to be alive and how to say ' thank you'Rude and ignorant.

Teníamos que ver otro concierto cerca, pero llegamos temprano, así que pensamos que primero íbamos a Trillians. . . . Fue realmente como lo recuerdo, pero para mí, ¡había perdido un poco de su brillo! ! ! ! Sigue siendo un buen pub y un buen lugar para ser tú mismo.

He estado bebiendo de vez en cuando en "Trills" durante más de 15 años, y he experimentado muchos altibajos en el camino, ya que el lugar ha cambiado la administración, el personal y la decoración varias veces a lo largo de los años. Su encarnación más reciente, bajo la gestión de "Hilly", ha encontrado su punto máximo. Las bandas en vivo están siempre a punto, con algunas bandas de gran tributo, junto con un excelente talento local y también actos internacionales. La calidad de sonido de las bandas está siempre en punto ahora, lo cual no fue el caso en el pasado. El bar siempre está limpio y ordenado, el personal, en su mayor parte, es muy amable y servicial, los aseos siempre están limpios, el personal de la puerta siempre es amable y mantiene a riff-raff a raya, lo cual, como se mencionó anteriormente , no fue el caso de la administración anterior, y las cervezas, los cócteles siempre son puntuales, frescos, crujientes y sin ningún tipo de sabores desagradables que a veces acompañan a las bebidas en este punto de precio, que es promedio para la ciudad. En general, Trillians ha tenido un pasado turbulento, y en algunos puntos ha sido un establecimiento de 2 estrellas en el que no perdería el tiempo caminando. Afortunadamente, la nueva administración ha salvado este último bastión de la música rock y lo convirtió en uno de los únicos lugares en Newcastle donde un fanático de la música Metal / Rock puede obtener su solución.

It's a decent bar friendly people and staff, drinks are a fair price but it was a little quiet for a saturday I thought.

I was there on Sunday evening to see some live music.

A decent venue for fans of Rock & Heavy Metal 🤘🏻i was only there for a couple of hours and loved every minute of it. If just visiting it’s well worth a visit before & after attending a gig.

Good place for gigs sound is consistently good. Poor draught beer stick to bottles if your going to see a band.

I am not local to the area but we came across this bar through a quick google of rock bars to fit in with the groups music taste.

I ventured into Trillians for the first time in almost ten years. We’d been to a gig nearby and passed by Trillians. Some odd characters grace the bar but it’s lively and friendly. Live music aplenty and a good selection of drinks.

Trillians has had it's ups and downs, but I'm glad to say it's weathered the storm and is still here for us music fans to enjoy. Hobgoblin Gold was on tap but Hobgoblin was off, so we opted for a brown ale which was very good. Black Sabbath burgers are a must, with Stilton and black pud, salad and excellent twice-cooked real chips; fluffy inside and golden crispy outside. The chips alone could win Jacko the chef awards. Jimmy Page on the music side of things, and a classic ambience any fan of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden et al should experience. Live music on an evening aplenty, but also an ideal stop as part of an afternoon session. Long Live Trillians

Ventured here to stand at the bar and sup Bulleit bourbon until I dropped. Managed to sink a good few before being intellectually propped up by the conversation of a couple of delectable, local females and being escorted to Rise nightclub.

Trillians has been the same as long as I've known it! If you're at home with long hair and metal, you'll love it. Reasonable beer selection. They're knocking out some nice bar food now too, good chilli :-)

One of the best bars I have ever been in, great atmosphere, drinks were very reasonable priced, staff were down to earth and friendly, will be going again next time we are there. Decor is very in keeping and much appreciated for this kind of bar.

I was taken to this venue by an old friend who knows the area and suggested it as it was in keeping with our music taste and social scene. Good place and would recommend it to anyone who is in the area.

Had a fantastic night on Saturday for my daughters none hen do. She didn't want a fuss so after making cocktails at another bar we reserved a section in Trillions what a great night this was my first visit here but is a regular for my two daughters. Staff were great food was finished but they still managed to get us something to eat. Drinks were unbelievable cheap Cocktails were fab. Great place will visit again

A los que os guste el rock/ hard rock/ metal/ alternativo este es vuestro bar. Después de vivir durante un año en Newcastle es el único bar-pub que conocí que ponían realmente metal y hard rock. También había otro que era más bien una discoteca "Legends" y ponían más bien hard rock pero no siempre, hacían sesiones depende el día. Había otros que ponían rock pero más suave, en plan más pop. De todo esto os hablo del año 2008, ahora no sé exactamente cómo estará la cosa pero si te gusta el rock y te pasas por Newcastle te lo recomendaría encarecidamente aunque sea un ratito para tomar una caña por la tarde.

I decided that it was long overdue to make a return visit to one of my oldest of old Newcastle haunts and I soon discovered that Trillians has managed to succeed in becoming an even better venue than it had been previously.

It was a really cool bar and the drinks were reasonably priced! My only let down really was that I am visiting other towns mainly looking for the alternative scene and bars that play metal music and for me this bar was quite generic with the music side of things.

Great music, great atmosphere, grest food. Barbara and Dave have restored Trillians greatness. Love tge bands and soaking up the atmosphere, watching trash TV at lunchtime while listening to class music and eating Bangers 'n' Thrash. Love it, spririt if The Mayfair burning bright.

Ive been visiting Trillians for over 30 years and it has gone through a lot of changes. The last year or so it has had new owners and they have done a great job of bringing in new life, aswell as re establishing it as one of the best rock bars in town, appealing to the older rock fans as well as new younger clients.

I'm a regu;lar in Trills when i'm around town, the beer is good food is good & the staff are great, you see some terrific live bands in here too. Great night out for groups / couples etc....friendly atmosphere everytime.

Went here for lunch. I had the iron maiden burger and fries, burger wasn't too bad a little dry. But chips were fantastic. Would eat in here again as it's well priced.

I was looking for somewhere cheap to kill some time before going to see a band and this is exactly what I was after. Good tunes, super cheap booze (£2.65 for a Fosters and £2.50 for a Patron XO) and the burger I had was also amazing (£7 for a burger and chips and a pint!). They also have live bands. Next time I'm in Newcastle I will totally re-visit!

Saw Gaye Bykers on Acid here last week and they were beyond amazing. First class bar with friendly helpful staff. Top pint too. Great nite out

Great food. great beer. great staff .great music. Cheep for a city centre bar opposite the library. If you are into rock/metal it's the place to go.

Best rock bar north of the equator. Lots of live music, good beers, canny staff and the best crowd a venue could get. Made so many friends there I've lost count. If you haven't been you are missing out on something special.

We popped in for a quick burger and chips during our lunch break. The barmaid told us that ye food would be 20 minutes too half an hour. That was ok by us, so we ordered and sat down.

Simple really, best rock bar around, food is great and cheap, beer is lovely, the staff are mental, in the best possible way, if ya into rock/metal go there,

having used this bar for over 30 years in its different guises this of all incarnates is the best. an excellent selection of drinks cocktails etc and still true to its heart decor with top selection of live music the surprise here was the burgers chef james produced. two outstanding plates of food a kilmister burger and an iron maiden burger the quality of the food was the best, the price was such good value for money and the freshness of his work was the key. best chips and a substantial amount of food for what seems like coppers this standard would be twice the price in so called handmade burger places in town I strongly advise if you want the best burgers in newcastle go to trillians there is no competiton on quantity taste and quality a job well done thanks to all

One of the classic Newcastle bars that does not need to change. Still got the great atmosphere and good choice of ales. Why change a winning formula. Could do with more bars like this

I used to drink here back in the days of cowboy boots and the height of hair metal so decided to take my lad in for nostalgia reasons as he is into the same type of music. Sadly at 12.00 on the 2/8 there was us three , wife also went, and 2 others so not busy and this kind of made us think it might be a bit ropey. We ordered 2 burgers, a Black Sabbath and a Iron Maiden a sausage and egg butty, 2 pints and a large coke. Absolutely beautiful the burgers obviously home made and the chips were the best I've had for years. To the folk moaning about sticky this and that, it's a rock bar, it's meant to be messy. Chef very friendly too.. 24 quid for all that equals decent value to me.

I go every so often to trillians on a off chance while I'm passing. The latest put the nail in the coffin for me. Me and a friend walked in to see a few people just as you walked in and a sound of live music thinking ( ooo greats live band while I have a quick pint) but as soon as I got down the stairs there was a guy saying we had to pay to get in.... Now the beer isn't that great and is normally half empty so why would I pay just to go have a pint and even if there was a live band on?? Little to say won't be back for abit !!!

Just been to trills for the blaze bayley gig,awesome place with great staff,band was rockin as always,didn't get to try the food but last time I ate there it was good!I'm still owed a bottle of blue moon beer by one of the regulars,but I'll hopefully catch up with her sometime,all in all the best place for live music in Newcastle

Been here to watch 2 bands on a Friday night over the last 2 weeks with approx. 20 friends the venue and atmosphere are absolutely amazing everyone really enjoyed themselves bar prices and staff are great a little hidden gem in Newcastle

Trillians rock bar has Re-opened and is under new management. Having recently visited for lunch , meet friends and listen to some good music , i can say the food is absolutely amazing!!! All homemade and fresh! The best burger i've tasted ever and chips like me mam made !! Spot on Chef !!!

Trillians is not closed it has has reopened under new management. I was there for drinks of which there was a good selection. Kitchen was in the process of re-opening

No real ale, just told, "we don't do that any more". Not even a pack a nuts. "Do you have any nuts?". "No". Not even, "No, sorry". Just found the service curt and unfriendly as if you were putting them out just by asking for stuff. Awful.

up until Nov 2013 it was an excellent bar, great vibe - but then it closed, and re-opened.

The place was taken over at the start of the new year, and Trillian'a Facebook page trumpeted about the changes that would happen. Sadly they never did. The floors are horrendously sticky, toilet seats are loose or none existent, there's never any soap to wash your hands with, and the drinks prices have been hiked up. The house wine is British, made from concentrate, it's about £12 a bottle & is undrinkable! Mordue beers were promised in January but never materialised, the pub quiz is the stingiest I've ever attended, the overall winning team get a bottle of the aforementioned wine between them. (It costs less than £3 to buy)

It's true that its scruffy, the floors sticky, the toilets r dirty and smelly and the drinks r poor for the price.....however.....we went last Friday night and at least the music was good! Hooray! Classic rock music instead of all that ramstein rubbish!

Been a regular visitor to Trills for many a year and to say I was disappointed last night is an understatement. First thing was the band. It wasn't the music that was the problem (it was a Sabbath tribute band), but the volume. You had to shout to be heard before you even got down the stairs to get it. Next was the floor. It was unbelievably sticky. It was so bad that my wife lost the heal of her boot to the glue like floor. Finally the prices of the poor quality drink. A pint of diet coke and a half a Guinness (talk about a rock and roll lifestyle) came to £4.80. This in place where they obviously don't pay for a cleaner. It has never been the cleanest of places and the bogs have always been terrible, but it had a certain charm. This has gone. GIVE THE PLACE A GOOD CLEAN.

As a rock/metal fan I have been to Trillians numerous times and used to like it as a live venue and bar. However, it really is a scandal how this place has been run as it is filthy, got grim toilets and a dreadful selection of drinks available which are over priced and of very poor quality especially the draught beers. Why is it assumed that rock/metal fans don't want a good pint of cask ale or glass of decent wine in decent surrounding?

I always come here when I go out into Newcastle for drinks. Love the music and the decor. (the toilets are pretty gross though, but the stall graffiti is A++)

used to go here years ago but the place has not been right for a while really. atmosphere not of a rock bar and food that is just typical pub food made to look more than it actually is. hope someone takes it over with a passion for rock music and keeping their clients happy.

Picture the scene. You want a rock venue, independent in it's ideals, attitudes and execution? Trillians in the past was the place to go 'pre Mayfair' to meet mates, listen to decent rock, punk, ska, metal and start your night. Then came this abomination.

My last visits at Trillians has been an extremly bad experiance. Earlier years when ive been visiting, there has been som hard rock/metal, but my recent visist it has actually been extremly sloppy music, yes even my visit 1 week ago there was some sort of rap thing on. Its extremly bad that Newcastle cant manage to have a really good hardrock/metal pub. I was only at the bar for drinks, not food.

It's been there for as long as I can remember. It plays Rock mucic and only really gets busy on a Saturday night or if there is a gig on. Great place to meet up as everyone knows where it is. Can't go wrong really.

A bit hard to find this pub but worth making the effort. Great music and friendly staff. Food is basic but very good. Drinks and food were good value

I love this bar and try to visit whenever i'm in the North East. If you love Rock Music, this is the place to be

Being a rocker and living in the North. Trillians really is the staple. I've been going for 20 odd years. 17 of them Legally!

I have been going to Trillians for approx 26 yrs. It's a great rock pub with great decor as befitting it's theme. Located opposite Newcastle Central Library, it's accessed at street level, but it's downstairs, so if mobility is an issue, bear this in mind. They have regular gigs on a purpose built stage. The DJ Gordon will play requests for you on a weekend, when they are open until 1 am. The only down side is the toilets. In all the years I've been going the toilets have mostly been a disappointment, in that they don't all lock. Recommended. This system requires a visit date, however, we go there all the time.

I've been going here for years. Over the years I've noticed that the popularity of this place has sharply declined. I went in very recently and we were the only two customers, it was weird. I've never seen the place that dead before. In my opinion however, nothing else has changed about the place. It is still a great bar with friendly staff and great music, live or otherwise. The food is average, but it is still on my list of choices when looking for somewhere to eat. The quiz night is a good time to go. Definitely one of my favourite bars. My kind of place.
