Staff nice, but cheese scones disgusting. Over heated in microwave, so soggy and tasted very sweet. Think they'd used sweet scone mix and added very small amount of cheese. Said this to manager, but it seemed to make no difference . Chocolate brownie was passable, very sweet, but not very chocolatey

This is such a brilliant restaurant, the staff are extremely efficient and although it was busy we didn’t have to wait. The food is freshly cooked and hot and well presented and there is plenty of choice. I highly recommend everyone to visit. It is in a lovely position opposite the park and easy to park.

We have a great grandson who lives with us he is 8 and we wanted to make his birthday a day to remember he has such dreadful times before arriving with us. So I booked a meal at Trennick Mill and they also made him a theme birthday cake which they brought out after our meal and sang happy birthday to him. He was so surprised and slightly embarrassed but he loved it. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making him feel special and loved. What a wonderful place, excellent food and wonderful staff.

Always the best! We have never had a bad experience here. Exceptionally good food, the Sunday roast especially. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Dogs are allowed in here too which is great, our dogs are better behaved than some kids!!! I’m really shocked at the bad reviews left for this place, don’t let the minority put you off, Trennick Mill is clean, welcoming, serve the tastiest of food and is highly recommended.

We eat here a lot as we live nearby but had never had a Sunday roast. We popped in on Mother’s Day without a booking and we were made to feel very welcome as they squeezed us in before a later booking. I thought I would write a review as it was the best roast we’ve had in a very long time! Two of us are vegetarians and the nut roast was delicious. I highly recommend Trennick Mill to anyone who wants a quality, home cooked feel Sunday roast.

Apparently the owner isn’t bothered about this review. Nobody reads reviews anyway! So here is my review that nobody will read anyway… We were at the park and had to get lunch. It was close by so we went in, we’re given a table and served quickly. Told about a wait on food which we were fine with and carried on. The waitress was distracted by an emergency on a nearby table and my son had ordered the ham, cheese and pineapple pizza off the main menu. The cheese and pineapple pizza (which we hadn’t ordered) came out for my son and we assumed ham was hiding under the cheese. It wasn’t. We asked the waitress why there was no ham on the pizza, she bought out a plate of ham!! On leaving, we mentioned to the staff that our child didn’t like the pizza, it wasn’t what we ordered and could we have our £8.95 refunded because 1) it wasn’t what we ordered and 2) it’s a cheese and pineapple pizza! The waitress who took our order said no refund as we hadn’t mentioned anything before, we actually did and that’s why we were delivered a plate of ham! She went to find out from owner and apparently because they’d sold 11 pizzas and had no complaints they wouldn’t give a refund or even a partial refund. I said it wasn’t a complaint about the pizza, it was about not getting what we ordered. Out comes the owner! She said the order was read back to us (it wasn’t due to ongoing emergency on another table) and it’s our fault. Well, it’s not our fault though is it! It was their mess up and we paid for cheese, pineapple and bread (it looked pretty RANK!) and we told them this and she got uptight that I was calling their food rank. Well, if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck… Tourist trap. Not looking after locals who keep them going through the cold wet winters. Absolutely diabolical, non existent customer service! The owner is what makes the business and even though the other staff did what they could and agreed with us not getting what we ordered and getting a refund, the owner said no and got aggressive! As soon as she came out the kitchen she was determined to argue instead of talking rationally about it which is shocking as an owner/manager! Anyway, I won’t get a reply to this as “they don’t respond to negative reviews” and again, “nobody reads reviews anyway!”. What an amazing attitude to get by in business in a cost of living crisis. Puts me right off even spending money out on substandard food!

Set in a beautiful parkland setting this restaurant/cafe has a lot going for it. Simple, perhaps a little basic, menu but something for everyone and very tasty. Amazing cakes. Bank Holiday visit and very busy. Service a bit slow, tables could be cleaner and not sure what to make of waiting staff - not unpleasant, did their job but something missing. Possibly a place to go when less busy. If you want to eat/snack fine but if you want to dine go elsewhere.

My partner and I popped in to Trennick for a quick lunch and were directed to a table away from the roaring fire as was told the two tables in front of it were reserved. It was cold sat by the window and we are one retired farmer and on retired chef, had big coats on and are not whomps. The food, was good however and the staff pleasant and prices good for Truro. After an hour no one appeared to take up the seats as the fire roared on. at the reserved tables. However a member of staff did sit to eat her lunch. When I paid 27.95 for two with drinks (winner) I asked when the guests for the reserved tables were due. ‘Oh it’s in case a party of six comes in on the off chance’ we only have those two tables of six. So while the eight other customers made up of 4 x 2 sat freezing but spending money as I heard a gentleman mention next to us, Trennick staff were reserving tables just in case a six turned up. Ridiculous, I’ve run two restaurants as a chef and manager and we would prioritise the foot fall every time, if you are through the door you’re a captured gem. Especially in these times. So come on Trennick make the most of what you have. If a larger party turn up just humour them. So 8/10 for food but 0 for common sense.

Visited the cafe today - I go quite often and usually don’t have a problem. But today I was made to feel like a burden - the cafe was quiet with plenty of free tables. I went in with my new baby in her pram and as I was going inside (struggling with the door) asked by a member of staff “how old is your baby” to which me replying with “4 weeks old” her telling me they don’t let prams inside due to it being a small cafe. Which is fine except I’ve been in multiple times with the pram before today and the cafe was very quiet with plenty of free tables. Whilst I was in there having coffee I was made to feel like a burden with the staff member constantly moving the pram - which again was already tucked out of the way. It’s not the easiest thing getting out and about with a new baby and going out for a walk and coffee is usually something I really enjoy, but today I was made to feel like I wasn’t welcome at all and shouldn’t bother going back. Really let down by such terrible service, a shame as I really liked this cafe.

A late afternoon Sunday Lunch and only beef was left - and that was a bit on the 'sinewy' side, Veg etc well cooked and pleasant We were virtually the only diners and hence a certain lack of atmosphere which to be fair may well have been different earlier on. What cannot be criticised is the size of the dinner, We had the medium meal which we thought would be big enough for most, Sounds like a moan but the position was fine and the staff friendly. We left content enough - but hardly enthused.

Booked table for twelve, seven children under seven and six adults. Orders promptly taken, friendly waitress. Argument between kids as only given two colouring in menus, swiftly sorted by additional menus and big box of colouring pencils.Lovely food, only criticism is that adults received food a long time before children, and some meals finished before others arrived, would have liked children to have got their food first. It definitely was a treat! The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a table by the window for the 4 of us and a baby. It was perfect, until, we realised we were sat in front of the disabled entrance, when a woman proceeded to push the door into my arm, saying, 'you shouldn't be sat here, it's the disabled entrance, my mum shouldn't have to take the stairs or be put out because someone chose to ignore the disabled entrance'. Well, I thought, lady with the disabled mum, I didn't choose to be sat here in front of a door, which isn't clearly marked out to be the disabled entrance by the way, we were placed here by the staff, we also are here to have a nice day, no need to ruin it with your attitude and blatent disregard for any other possible reason why we were there. We also have 3 disabled members of our family, and I had my pram, but by all means, keep pushing the door into my arm that I was using to protect my child from said door until I could move out of your rude way.... Anyway... Rant over... Despite this brush with rudeness, we were treated to a 3 course meal of yumminess!! It was incredible. Especially the roast!! I'm a huge fan of roast potatoes and they did not disappoint . We will definitely be going back!! Although, we may request a table without a door right next to it. Definitely a place for the people watchers amongst us too. Plus, the coffee and the cakes are incredible. Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome. Fab job on a busy day.

Have just read a criticism of Trennick Mill and I cannot and do not believe the comments/insults. We have been coming to this restaurant ever since they opened in Truro and also before at Pine Lodge. We have had Birthday gatherings and lunches with lots of friends and relatives from far and wide and every time there has been nothing but praise all round. We were served quickly by a friendly older lady and went to find a table. After 5 mins our coffees arrived, which were nice. However our food (two panini) did not appear until 20 mins later by which time we had long since finished our drinks. The panini’s were not panini’s but part baked rolls you buy from the frozen section, and they were tiny. When I order panini I expect a flat Italian bread (ciabatta or similar) not a white roll that has been put into a panini machine. The filling was sparse and bland with semi melted cheese (assume it’s the pre-grated plastic cheese as this seems to resist melting completely). I didn’t even eat the second part as it was not edible. I took this to the counter and asked for it to be wrapped up to give to my dogs. I thought this would incite a question about whether it was ok, but nothing was said. I then informed the waitress that it was bland and not nice at all and expected at least an apology but all I got was ‘we’ve sold loads of these today and no one else has complained’. I think when someone brings a half eaten meal back to the counter the least you can do is to consider that something was not right or was not to their taste and offer the appropriate words (whether you agree or not)..its called customer service! Anyway I got the food back in foil, and the waitress could barely look at me as I paid up. There was no offer to reduce the amount even if it was by a couple of pound. If you are in the service industry you cannot treat your customers with indifference or a couldn’t care less attitude especially when there is a complaint about food quality. Needless to say we won’t be going here again, such a shame as it’s in a nice setting.

This is a review not of the restaurant but of Christmas pudding which Trennick Mill made to sell at a craft fair held in Truro in the run up to Christmas. I am very fussy about Christmas pudding, most commercially made ones are vile so I always look for hand made ones produced in small batches locally. The ladies selling were charming and I had a sample taste, which was good but as it was cold, nothing like as good as the hot pudding on Christmas Day. This one was expensive but Oh...it was Very Very Good Indeed! Moist, full of delicious fruit and flavours, with none of the bitterness which ruins so many. It's very rich, so the larger size gave 10 portions at Christmas - not expensive therefore per portion. Well done Trennick as I think this was your first time at selling in the marquee and I'm telling everyone I know in the hope you'll do it again next year and there'll be enough for me!

Malpas is one of the loveliest hidden corners of Truro, by the estuary, while the Trennick Mill is to be recommended for its bright environment and its pleasant service and atmosphere. Food-wise I would suggest it is merely passable. Not bad, but some way short of great. Nevertheless it is a place I would return to for a coffee and a snack, when I've found that lover with whom to walk and talk in such a beautiful corner of the locality.

On entering the Mill we sat at a table for two with very comfortable seats, the waitress came and asked if we required drinks and also told us the special was a roast dinner with either chicken, gammon or beef and a sweet for ten pounds we both chose the roast chicken a pot of tea for one and a Diet Coke, the staff were very friendly it was a very pleasant experience, the roast was plated with about five roast potatoes, cabbage, parsnip, carrots and chicken, gravy it was delicious, time for the sweet we both chose apple and blackberry crumble with custard, yum! I pass this attractive spot frequently and keep meaning to call in. While out on a mobility scooter "walk" yesterday I thought we would pop in for a cuppa and snack with the intention of checking out the menu for an evening meal. The access for my scooter was good at the outside tables and the area with it's pond adjoining and the Truro River opposite is beautiful. We ordered a tea, a coffee, one cake for my wife and a toasted teacake for myself and paid £10.05. The order was brought out, less the teacake which we were told would follow in a "couple of minutes. First niggle, no sugar which we had to go inside to fetch. Minor but irritating. After 30+ minutes my wife had eaten her cake and drunk her coffee, I had drunk two cups of tea but still no teacake. OK, it had been forgotten. It happens, usually when the establishment is busy (it wasn't), and I accept that. I went into the counter on my crutches and asked the price of a teacake; £1.95 said the lady. Could I please have money money back, I said, as we had been waiting for a long time and had to leave. After visiting the kitchen the lady said "a few minutes". I said no, I have been waiting a long time and have to leave. Grudgingly I was refunded the £1.95. I am not complaining about the error, I resent the poor attitude and the complete absence of any sort of an apology. A smile would have been welcome but noticably absent. I was polite at all times and did not use offensive or upsetting language. I regret I will be unable to try the full meal now as I do not wish to be served with a surly attitude. Very disappointing.

We have visited this place 3days in a row. We had evening meal with our son one evening. Coffee and cake another. Breakfast the last day. All three visits very good. Food very good for the money. We are hoping to move near here defiantly will be making this our regular. What we have had so far very good and very enjoyable. Think the breakfast little bit expensive £5.95 fine but it's only one of everything. You can pay £2.00 more and have extra which hubby did. He likes his cooked breakfast and have tried quite a few. He said breakfast excellent. Looking forward to our next visit now. The young lady that served us on Sunday morning at breakfast her customer service excellent,Very friendly nothing to much trouble. Well done customer service is few and far between these days. She is a credit to you.

Revisited with family and friends today. Our food order was forgotten and when asked where our child’s food was we found out it hadn’t been cooked. No apologise and a terrible attitude. Used to be a nice place to eat. Staff didn’t seem to have an idea what they were doing. Avoid!!!!!!

A group of us had a good lunch provided by friendly and efficient staff. Whenever I use this restaurant, it seems to be pretty empty which is a shame as it then lacks atmosphere.

Whilst my reason for visiting Trennick Mill were not auspicious as I was attending a family funeral, the location, setting and service were lovely. Having ordered in advance, the catering team were able to offer as a great range of tasty vegan food, including roasted vegetable pasties, a selection of sandwiches and cakes in the style of afternoon tea and vegan cream teas. There were plenty of hot and cold drink options plus a licensed bar. The interior was pleasant although a little cramped for the number of guests gathered. Perhaps a large group would need to request a rearranged table.

We were looking for a venue to hold a family get together following the funeral of my mother. It was suggested we contact Trennick Mill due to its location and pleasant surroundings.

To keep it short I will never visit this restaurant again it’s such a waste of a venue under the correct management this setting would be amazing sorry to say the food is below average and the service is horrendous it has a very unwelcoming atmosphere how it is classed as a restaurant I do not know. Felt robbed paying for such a awlful service

Since our last visit to Trennick mill we understood they might no longer serve Sunday roast. We decided to book a table anyway. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table. I could see on there display board above the fire place that they still served Sunday roast which was good. We decided to go for the three courses for £16.00. I asked if you could order just one course or two which they said you could if wanted ( £12 for one £14 for two. I decided on roast beef, which I’m going to say was the best restaurant roast I think I’ve had. I think you will need to book a table because by the time we left it was fully booked.

Having booked in advance, I visited here with six friends for mid-morning refreshment. The restaurant was quiet and we are able to sit together on one table in a room which we had to ourselves. Our orders for teas, coffees and toasted tea cakes were quickly taken and served shortly afterwards, by a friendly waitress. We were then able to enjoy an enjoyable leisurely get-together over good food and drinks, without interruption. We would certainly come here again, when we are in the area.

We happened upon this lovely place overlooking the park and beside part of the river. All the staff were very friendly and could not do more to help us, whether it was an ice-cream, a snack or lunch. They have a huge selection of ice-creams and all of their food is prepared with care and attention. Delicious. We will be going back again and again. We sat outside when the weather was good but inside is clean, tidy and welcoming too. Thank you to all the staff! Full marks for service, food and value.

Visited Trennick Mill on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I rang to book in the morning - which is advisable for any day of the week/time as they can be very busy.

Stunning location, wish I could say the same about the food. I saw offered a 'Fish Platter' on as a special, as it was very expensive I enquired (to justify this expense) whether it was all fresh and was informed that they have daily deliveries. Great I thought I would treat myself, sadly I got tinned sardines, defrosted prawns, vacuum packed smoked mackerel how sad is that in Cornwall. Beware the food it highly priced for you get! However, stunning location.

We booked for lunch at Trennick Mill 3 days ago, and were very impressed by service, food & friendliness of staff. We had forgotten that it was Play Day in Boscawen Park, and very busy, but the staff had put cones outside the restaurant so that customers could park. The order was taken very right away and the food arrived very quickly. Plates were hot, and food well cooked and tasty.Last time we went to Trennick Mill, twelve months ago, we were disappointed in the food and the service. Things have improved so much now -- we will definitely be going back again soon.

Wanted to order a couple of paninis, unfortunately paninis were out of stock. Was offered the same toppings on toast to which we agreed, not realising it was going to take 45 minutes to essentially do cheese on toast. 3 couples arrived, ate and left while we were waiting for ours! Basically this is a place run by teenagers who are clearly out of their depth!

Called in for breakfast as it was handy and on our route. Reasonably priced, and the Coffee was good. It's located just outside Truro near the local park and duck pond. A popular place for families, dog walkers and cyclists etc.

Lovely, convenient location next to the park. Cake and coffee served is good quality. We had one of grumpy staff members who on two occasions was very cold and reluctantly explained which cakes were available - and couldn't raise a smile when my daughter smiled at her. The other staff member was much more chirpy but sadly we did not have her serve us. Hopefully you will have a better experience on your visit!

We went here because we had a 2 for 1 deal from the local paper for the Wednesday roast and firstly noticed that there were no prices displayed for this. However we ordered 2x roasts and a glass of red wine which was £4·95 and a pint of proper job. The bill came to £20-50 , which means that even if the beer was £4. then each roast was over £11!!! The roasts were definitely not worth that and the price does not warrant having to have plastic tablecloths!! The food was hot but vegetables overcooked, but roast potatoes and meat was good. Would not recommend.
