Visited the garden centre to purchase a potted plant. Unfortunately not a great opinion to buy. Unfortunately some of the plants looked almost dead. Also what was available was limited and not value for money. Sadly since the garden centre is now owned by a national company it is not where near has good. Most of the goods are quite expensive. Did not visit the restaurant on this visit has the last time we did the food was not very good or value for money. Breakfast meal over sadly over cooked. Cannot recommend the restaurant.

Went to see xmas decorations but a week too early. Decided to have lunch. Had tuna ciabatta with chips. Yuk, chips rock hard cooked to fast. Ciabatta was bland, not much tuna. We checked out the roast before and it looked sorry for itself. This restaurant used to be lovely but last couple of visits it's been terrible. Do yourselves a favour, don't eat here. Try Par Garden centre, food is amazing.

Arrived and ordered lunch at 12.42 pm. Despite the sign on the road advertising a daily delicious carvery the beef had gone and all that was left was chicken, not a carvery but a rather small dry chicken breast was all that was left..queried this with some one called Helen on the till who informed me that I should arrange to get there earlier in future!! Rude! One roast carvery with poor selection of overcooked veg, one cheese omelette and chips and fish and chips a glass of wine and a coke came to £55. Chips described on the menu as something special turned out to be frozen chips...not special at all.. Sorry will give this place a wide berth infuture.

I'll be honest, the tired and worn out condition of the furniture, the sticky grubby looking table tops and noise level put us off ordering more than coffee and a teacake. The tea cake arrived with butter but no knife or serviette, the coffee with no spoon, the table was bare, no sugar... I understand that these things are available for 'self service' but a little actual service wouldn't have been missed. It's quite a long drive from home and frankly not worth the effort.

The garden centre is lovely, we have been coming here since we were kids ourselves. The restaurant however, the food is expensive and poor quality. The staff inside are so friendly, lovely and happy to help. We ordered a burger which was hard to bite through around the sides. A kids pizza which was rubber like and have clearly been microwaved and a kids pasta which some of it was hard and stuck together as if it had been reheated. The chips on the kids plate were dark and look inedible however the adults chips looked golden and fresh. I don't mind paying a bit more for food and waiting but the quality was the worst we've ever experienced.

We can't believe how awful the food at this restaurant is. The staff are wonderful, couldn't be nicer. It's a good place to go for lunch, plenty of tables and parking, but the food is so awful we won't be going again, lemon meringue pie, awful, didn't even taste of lemon, I could go on, but what's the point. This used to be an excellent restaurant, but not any more, Head Office should be ashamed of themselves, but obviously there policy is to get rid of all the diners, how stupid they are.

We've been a few times and always had good food. My husband and I both have to be gluten-free and I also have to be dairy-free. It's a right pain but Carriages cater brilliantly for us. All the sandwiches are available GF, as are a lot of the other meals, including the fish and chips, which is very tasty. The receipt you get is all clearly labelled with 'Gluten-free' etc, so it makes you feel secure that your food will be safe. We've tried a variety of meals and also the breakfast, all of which have been nice. My husband had a GF carrot cake, which he enjoyed, and told me there were several dairy and gluten-free cakes on offer too. We are very impressed and will definitely be back again and again.

I ordered fish and chips the batter and the chips were really hard as a opposed to crispy and the peas must of been microwaved as they were like bullets or a really cheap brand. Called in for lunch today. Cafe was busy but easily found table. Staff friendly. Cakes looked good. Roast beef looked dry. Joined the queue for hot drinks, and asked to order food. Tea served then told to order food at till when I paid. Paid for food and lady then tells me it’s around a 25 minute wait for food to come out. That was fine but I would have got the tea after if I’d known that but she said I could have a pot of hot water later - not quite the same. Yes it was a 25 min wait for food which was hot and tasty. Tables which sat down after us had their food brought before ours - same items. Noticed other tables having hot drinks served to them also. Not sure how that happened. Although the menus and ordering instructions are at the entrance it is a little confusing. Cafe says no dogs allowed altho when I asked I was told there was an outdoor area I area could sit in with my dog. To order I’d have to get the attention of a staff member who would either take my order or look after my dog while I ordered. Shame you can’t sit in the conservatory area with your dog.

Very poor so called carvery.😠 The beef on my plate was carved so thinly it was almost transparent. The roast potatoes and parsnips were both soggy and not crisp at all and I think it was the gravy but something on the plate as extremely salty. We won’t be back for the roast at all. Shame really as the coffee and scones when we have them are lovely.☹️

The staff were friendly, the food was delivered very quickly and was piping hot. The soup was delicious. However, the table was dirty. We also ordered a pot of tea and a Diet Coke. The coke was brought out and was an ordinary coke so was the wrong order, my friend’s a diabetic. The tea was bought out, no teaspoon and the teacup and saucer were dirty. We returned both. The second teacup and saucer were brought out, the teacup had a chip in it right where you drink from. However by that stage I’d rather given up and didn’t get it changed. The soup and roll came out on a rectangular wooden tray. The roll was ‘resting’ on a small napkin. It was difficult to halve it and spread the butter all in the tiny space provided and there was nowhere to put your knife after spreading. It felt very unhygienic. A side plate would’ve been so much better. The saving grace, was that the soup and bread tasted great.

Lovely restaurant attached to the shop and garden centre, plenty of indoor, conservatory and outdoor seating available. Delicious menu as well as cake/ desserts available, some slightly on the pricier side but good quality, fresh, well presented and generous portions. Friendly staff, menus by entrance and you order at the tills, food is then brought over to your table.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Arrived at 1pm, an hour after food service started and decided to have a carvery, this is where it all went downhill. There was no beef available, so we chose pork. Paid our money and queued up to get the food only to find that the only meat option left was the chicken, everything else was sold out! (Did the staff at the tills not know this?) This was a cheaper (but still expensive) option than what we had paid but we were told that the only alternative was to queue up at the till again and get a refund and reorder, so we decided to go with the chicken to save the hassle. However, the vegetable selection left a lot to be desired too. The little choice that was left was all dried out, overcooked and lukewarm. The chicken was also dry as it turned out. We were told that because the food was all cooked the night before (!) when it's gone it's gone, (this is probably also why it was all dry). Surely, if the carvery is advertised to be available until 3pm, then cook enough to last that length of time?! The restaurant wasn't busy, so that's no excuse for running out so soon. We have visited many times before for coffee but after this absolute shambles, we won't be back. The food is definitely expensive and I would rather pay less and go somewhere else in the future which guarantees serving up better quality food.

The sign on entering said, find your table and then order food and drinks at tills and it will be delivered to you. Found a table, but no menu on table, so we had to individually go back to the servery to see what was on offer. Hubby ordered a coffee and lemon drizzle cake, 3 other tables who came in after us were served before us, was just about to complain when our order arrived. The lemon drizzle cake was so dense and had no taste of lemon and was an extortionate £4.60.

The restaurant was very busy, which must tell you something, we were quickly shown to a table by a very friendly member of staff. Had to wait a short while for our food but as it was so busy it was understandable and as we were out for a trip we weren’t in a hurry. Yes it was a little pricey but so are all similar establishments. Everyone said that they had enjoyed their meal. Overall a great day out.

So, been here a few times...never really inspiring but this time it was pretty shocking. Just ridiculous pricing for food cooked and prepared by someone who is probably normally erecting sheds! 2 x weak, insipid coffees and 2 x fingers of Bakewell Tart would set you back £16!! ...and then you have to sit in what I can only describe as resembling a rather tired looking nursing home. Now, I don't feel the need to criticise often but I have read the preceding reviews and seems our experience was not the worst or uncommon - and the only reply was to say that it reflected prices charged elsewhere locally.... Yes, maybe but that would be in a pleasant environment and food produced by someone with pride and that cared....big difference. Just pop up the road to St Kew Farm Shop and see how breakfast should look or even Trevisker garden centre or Strong Adolpho's at Hawksfield. There is no hint of the restaurant management caring or even understanding - just seem out of touch...shame really. To cap it all there is a sign by the cakes telling people they should consume 2,000 calories per day!...what's that all about? Seems this Garden Centre Restaurant is rapidly developing a rather notorious reputation probably sustained by the busing in of tourists as a captive audience who will never have to revisit.

Breakfast left out under heat lamp until ready. Bad bad way to do thing's. Sausage ok not cooked properly only browned on one side rubbery. Bacon so over cooked like jerky. Mushroom boiled, horrible. Hash browns frozen, didn't eat! Tomato was ok. Egg not fried, sat in warm oil. Still had raw white. This was a very very poor breakfast. The worse I've probably ever had. As I said I'd I wasnt with my dad I would have returned everything! But for 11.95 that is disgusting!! Would never eat there again Would never recommend!! Come on guys sort it out! So visit lots of garden centres and their restaurants and I have to say this wasn't nice at all. We have visited afew times years ago and its just gone down. The staff we spoke with were nice but I'm sure they are aware it's going downhill. The fish and chips were awful, the fish was covered in the thickest batter that was pale insipid and when cut into raw and dough like, I asked for it to be replaced and cooked for the staff were full of apologies but i wasnt offered anything by way of compensation. My husband had a chicken caesar salad, so expensive for not a lot of chicken topped on lettuce leaves, disappointing. My fish was replaced and the replacement was exactly the same as the first, now not 1 member of staff came anywhere near the table after I received the fresh meal to check it was OK, I literally pealed away the revolting batter ate some of the fish and left all the raw batter piled high for them to see when they cleared the table, we had paid restaurant prices for this meal and left vowing never to return. I heard others saying the same thing about the fish on another table so I know it wasn't just mine.

We visited on Remembrance Sunday, and although they called over the tannoy that they were about to begin the 2 minutes silence and requested the customers to take part and show their respects, they failed to turn the radio off, so whilst all customers/staff came to a stand still, music was playing through the garden centre which I thought was incredibly disrespectful and a lot of customers stated afterwards they weren’t sure if the 2 minutes had started or not due to the music playing. The garden centre itself had put in a lot of thought and planning on their beautiful Christmas displays and how they arranged them out in colour etc. We then visited the restaurant, we had three carvery’s, the meat (chicken & beef) was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, the vegetables were a disappointment. The red cabbage & broccoli were all but raw, and the only other option of veg was carrots which were full of flavour. Disappointed in the lack of variety of vegetables. Afterwards we decided to have a cake, my partner had a cream tea and the Rodda cream that came with it was curdled. I asked for another one which I was given and that was exactly the same. The staff seem rushed off their feet and stressed, although as pleasant and helpful as they could be from being by the looks of it very short staffed. Tables were still sat with dirty plates for the duration of the hour and a half we sat in the restaurant.

Visited with elderly parents for a birthday. Haven't been for a few years, as we have moved away, but its gone downhill terribly. Ordered 3 x beef pie and beef bourgignon. The pie was slapped on the plate, didn't resemble a pie, just some pastry with a few bits of meat and gravy, with pretty much raw red cabbage, and lumps of mashed potato, like they had been scraped out of the pan! The bourginon was completely ruined by a ton of salt, felt quick sick for hours afterwards. £68 for 4 meals and 4 hot drinks, definitely won't be going back, we regularly went once or twice a year when we lived closer. We met our family (with dog) there for tea/coffee and cakes on a rainy Sunday. Although dogs are not allowed in the main restaurant they do have a very comfortable covered 'outside' area where dogs are welcome, so perfect for us. We chose our cakes and ordered our drinks at the till as requested.....then waited and waited and waited - we'd all finished our cakes and there was no sign of our drinks - we'd managed to attract the attention of a member of staff who said they were on the way. The drinks eventually arrived with no apology until we pointed out we'd already finished our cakes (including my fruit scone that only contained 1 sultana!!) and were told they were very busy and we could complain back at the till (which we didn't do as didn't want to queue up again) I was very disappointed with the service and did not feel we got value for money at all. Saying they were busy is not an excuse - how long does it take to make a pot of tea for 2 and 2 coffees - half an hour obviously!

Although I have low expectations of food from places like garden centres todays meal was poor. The meat was sadly quite tasteless and the veg and yorkshire pudding looked and felt cooked from frozen. Finished off with a shop bought sticky toffee pudding that left...

Popped into the restaurant for a Coffee and Scone, on arriving at the restaurant door we were greeted, and briefed on the Covid 19 procedures, and then shown to our table. Top marks to the staff on working well together. Coffee and Scone was excellent

Ordered roast chicken lunch. Meals arrived very quickly and were lukewarm (I wonder if they were already plated up). Disappointingly it was a chicken breast rather than proper roast chicken. Vegetables were ok but not hot. At £10.95 expensive for what it was. Also, we were given one salt sachet each and had to ask for more. Garden centre was quite expensive and not very exciting. We are on holiday but wouldn't visit again if we lived locally.

We waited outside the entrance in a queue for over 20 minutes even though there were a lot of empty tables inside. Eventually we were shown to a table and given a menu, it was a lunch menu, we did not want lunch but cake and coffee but nothing was said to us. We waited and waited for someone to take our order but we felt as though we were invisible. No one had the courtesy to say that someone would be with us soon. One person was taking payments from people and a young girl cleared a table near us. If someone had apologised and perhaps given an explanation about the situation we might have stayed, but after 25 minutes and not one person approaching our table and being totally ignored, we left.It would appear that not only are more staff needed to cope with the amount of tables but also lessons on how to provide good customer service and engage with customers. It is a shame because we like to look around the shop and plant section followed by refreshments but we won’t be going anymore.

Took my mum for lunch today she is in a wheelchair, there is plenty of room and we were made to feel welcome. We felt completely safe and all guidelines were being adhered to. Mum had fish and chips and I had baked goats cheese and salad the food was delicious. There is a great choice on the menu and they do an amazing roast dinner. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you, they are friendly and professional. I recommend you visit even if it’s just for a coffee and homemade cakes which are delicious.

As you drive from Wadebridge to Bodmin on the A 389, after about half a mile on your left, you will pass the Trelawney Garden Centre and Carriages restaurant located within it. But to pass it would be a mistake, for this is a really good restaurant, with proper food, great staff, and in the middle of a great garden centre. This is not the usual coffee and snack outlet that you tend to find added as an afterthought to a garden centre, but a good , unpretentious restaurant- carvery, liver and bacon, steak and kidney pie, dessert with custard are the sort of menu on offer. And all run by a chef who unlike some to be found these days, is a real chef producing real, good quality unpretentious food, rather than an exercise in chemistry . It's great value too. The staff are charming and helpful. The dining area is large, with tables of all sizes, and not too close together. And outside you have a very well stocked garden centre and large shopping area . Thoroughly recommended.

Staying at the Premier Inn just up the road. Checked this place out on Trip Advisor and thought it looked promising .... it was fabulous! Freshly cooked, value for money breakfast which catered for all the family - traditional English to Eggs Benedict piping hot and very tasty. Great location to wander round afterwards. We will definitely return

This is a great garden centre selling not only lots of beautiful plants also things for the home and garden such as garden furniture ,pots ,barbecue sets and inside the main building lots of lovely things for the home kitchenware, room fragrances ,candles, books , cards , gift packs , a beautiful selection of ladies clothes and shoes. Pet goods, jacuzzi is lovely summer houses etc. The restaurant , Carriages is very good. There is a hot food service area where you can choose from the chefs meals of the day all very good or light lunches or a separate island where you can choose from a lovely display of cakes if you just fancy something light with a tea or coffee. The restaurant is large and surrounded by lots of windows and you can walk through into the conservatory area where you can sit and have views of the little lake there. I highly recommend this place the food is excellent as so are the prices and the service and this is somewhere I regularly frequent with friends and family.

Had an excellent turkey lunch, first this year, all nicely cooked, parsnips were really good. Cost £10.50 for the buffet each and £3.25 for a jug of coffee for 2.Also smashing Xmas decorations when you come in.Had a mini car valet for £35 which was overpriced for cleaning a car, should have done it myself !! They did not do the windows.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
