Trawlers in Arun

Haven’t been here for over ten years. I was abi dubious after reading some recent reviews but I found the food excellent. The fish was only cooked to order and the chips were very fresh. Delicious and it won’t be ten years before my next visit.

Thin chips and very hard , fish batter stuck to paper a complete waste of money, and it was expensive don’t go there. Arundel needs a decent fish and chip shop.

As a regular customer ewading some of the negative comments I feel it is necessary that I affirm ai am always happy with the service, the food and the price. Thank you Trawlers !

At some point in the past, an innocent piece of cod and some wholesome potatoes were transformed into this slimy, soggy, fat-laden excuse for fish and chips. An appalling culinary crime.

Ordered large bag of chips. Posh thick paper bag but contents soggy, greasy, thin, possibly not freshly cooked that day but reheated. Not cheap either for small portion given (£3.95) and only take cash. Avoiding tax for NHS, roads, water supply, sewage, rubbish collection? Had the runs the next morning. Avoid

Terrible chips. My son (13) went with his sister to order a large chips to supplement our meal cooked in our motor home. He came back with the most pathetic 'large' portion I have ever seen. My only thought is they saw a child and decided not to give him what he paid for. The chips themselves were disgusting. Soggy and tasteless. I would never come here again if this is how they treat customers. Find another chippy.

The worst fish & chips we’ve ever had. Chips were soggy & disgusting, my husband cod was so small, more batter than fish. Not sure how they can serve food like this

I live between Whitby and Redcar so have plenty of good Fish and Chip shops nearby. It’s no exaggeration to say Trawlers matches them all and I’m tempted to say is better than my favourites back home. The fish was well cooked, great batter, chips just crispy - perfect. Great value for money too. Proper old school chippy!

I’ve never ordered fried fish before as it reminds me of the awful soggy stuff we used to get at school (a memory which has lasted decades!). But today I ordered cod & chips and it was GORGEOUS. Tender, moist fish with thin, crispy batter and the BEST chips. I’m definitely a convert! Thanks Simon & Team 🥰🙏

1st visit here but not great. A tenner for 2 x steak and kidney pie with chips. Chips were awful. Appeared re heated, not great portions. Quick service but very very average at best

Very friendly, helpful staff, in this very clean fish and chip takeaway. Our F&Chips were freshly fried and just perfect, also very filling!

We were sat in the pub beer garden opposite and noticed they didn't mind you bringing the fish and chips across. Lovely washed down with a pint.

The other two excellent chippies in the area were closed. I was apprehensive & then was told that a couple we know use it & are quite happy. SO although lower priced than the others I wish we hadn't. The batter was soft, oily, undercooked and sticking to the paper, chips undercooked & many not properly peeled. Only a re heat in a hot oven made them just acceptable. I will return to the others asap. As a local I will never be using this chippy again. Clearly can't make batter & has the temperature too low.

We ordered fish/ scampi and chips for a family gathering of 7. We had read the bad reviews, but as our first choice of “chippy” was shut, we took a chance and ordered from Trawlers. What a mistake! The scampi was ok, but the cod was oily and greasy as were the chips. Although the chips were cooked, they were soft, not at all crunchy and dry as good chips should be. We shan’t be going back there again, and I would certainly not recommend this chip shop. They do not accept credit cards either.

Tonight we finally ordered the much-anticipated Skate Wing. It was enormous and delicious (according to Mr S!). Lovely freshly cooked chips and lots of scampi for me. Thanks Simon & team. Such a great little place to have around the corner. 👍😊

Don't go there!!!! . Disappointed. Fish and chips was greasy. No salt. My fish was sweaming in horrible taste of old oli. I will Never go back there again. Don't waste your money.

This place used to be awful but they've got their act together recently and it's usually very good. But, today, a Thursday at 7.30pm, they had run out of chips. Nothing more to add to that really except that it doesn't even justify one star

I bought 3 supposedly large portions of chips for £2.85 each, I can tell you that for almost £9 all 3 combined would be smaller than a single large chips from a much better shop in Wick Littlehampton. Shocking rip off and won't use them...

Always enjoy the fish and chips from here, it’s a great option other than eating at home everyday during lockdown so let’s support our local chippy during these times.

My sister worked here as a Saturday girl back in the 1970s and it is as good now as it was then. For years our family Friday supper was bought from here and I try and make a visit whenever I'm visiting relatives in Arundel....

Just what the doctor ordered for a winter pick me up. Helpful staff and very tasty fish and chips. All was freshly cooked so had to wait a few minutes. Highly recommended for a quick snack.

One feels this chip shop caters primarily for non-returning day trippers. Open seven dsys a week. Always active but as a local we prefer to drive five miles to Barnham!!

As this is the only fish n chip shop in town, you'd think the quality would be excellent. Sadly not, often varies, tends to be very greasy and chips not very chippy, bit soggy normally....is ok, but wouldn't rave about it.

I believe Trawlers has been in Arundel for well over 30 years. The fish is always fresh and service quick. The pricing is also very reasonable.

Don't bother... I'm surprised there still in business! Cold bad tasting chips. Battered sausage batter was oily and soggy and the sausage was raw! Rubbish!!!!

Not really much I can say here. The chips were excellent quality, crispy and hot. The sausage in batter was delicious and the service was top notch... even managing to deal with the odd requirements of my wife with little more than a raised eyebrow....

Very good quality chips and fish, even the sausage tasted better than most. The batter was light the portions were good. Would certainly recommend as one of the very best in the area.
