Trago Lounge in Southampton

Came here for a quick drink and small bite to eat, lovely atmosphere on a hot sunny day - Eden was great to chat to and very attentive providing welcoming and friendly service. 10/10 will definitely be coming back!

I went for the first time today I. Southampton and really loved the place. I sat down in their small garden as it was a nice sunny day and had some drinks plus some of their selections from their tapas. The drinks and food came out promptly and was really tasty. You can either order by the bar or through their app. I am never one to give a 3 start on service however throughout my meal not one of the people working came by to ask if everything was alright and if it was any problems(to clarify it was no problems but this would have given the service a better star and a better costumer service experience) I will come back and will recommend Trago Lounge to my friends.

A welcoming place in Portswood with good food and coffee. Has good GF and Vegetarian options.

Disappointed by service despite good food and setting I visited Trago Lounge this morning with a friend for breakfast—my second visit this week. While the food was good and the place had a chilled vibe, I had another disappointing experience when it came to service. Positives first: The young guy who took my order was helpful and respectful—he listened, made the adjustments I asked for, and was a good example of what customer service should be. The breakfast itself was great, and the atmosphere was calm, which I appreciated. However, the service from the female staff left me feeling uncomfortable—again. The waitress who brought my food over didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge me at all. She looked uncomfortable around me, even though I made an effort to be polite and acknowledge her. I get that not everyone’s naturally bubbly—but in a customer-facing role, a basic level of friendliness and human decency should be standard, especially when nothing inappropriate or intense is happening. It’s not about flirting. It’s not about attention. It’s about being treated as a human being. A small smile or even brief eye contact goes a long way in hospitality—it’s part of the job. On Monday evening, I had a similar experience. I came in to get a table and was met with what felt like a negative reaction from a female staff member who seemed irritated by my calm request. Again, no reason—just a strange, uncomfortable vibe like my presence was a problem. This pattern is frustrating. As a male customer, I’ve noticed that sometimes service can feel subtly prejudiced—less warmth, less willingness to engage, especially when I’m with another male friend. And I say this not as someone trying to make a scene—I respect all staff, regardless of gender or age. But decency goes both ways. If someone’s had negative experiences in the past or feels sensitive around certain customers, that’s understandable—but this is a customer-facing job. If basic civility becomes a struggle, maybe that’s something to reflect on. I like the Lounge chain and I want to keep supporting it, but service needs to match the vibe and pricing. Everyone who walks in—whether a young man, a family, or a solo diner—deserves to feel welcome.

Service was absolutely faultless. Pricing is very high for the actual food received. Food was just about acceptable - however, nothing special. Should be 3.5 stars (due to great service).

Fine place to drop into for coffee or meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Most of the food choices are too spicy for my taste, which limits my options. I miss the monthly specials and some of the old regular menu items. It's still a handy venue to work on a laptop or meet friends.

Went here for mother's day, great services and nice food, good prices too.

Nice place, good beer, very good food. As an Italian, the prices are obviously different and higher than many Italian places, but, as we know, the prices in GB are higher. It is still cheaper than many others. Luckily we had discounts, being guests of an employee...

Really enjoy coming here. The staff are very friendly, I love that I can bring my dog and she is always made to feel very welcome. Food is delicious 😋 and best still, the prices are very good.

The best dog friendly place i’ve visited. Have been to other lounges before but this one is definitely the best! Treated our doggo as a customer, he had water, treats and even a sausage from Chris the chef. Lots of fusses from staff, staff very friendly and attentive with us. Food is great and place is spacious with a great atmosphere. Will defo be returning!

Very quick service but also feels like they are rushing you a little but this was at a Sunday lunch time so that’s fine. Food was well priced and also very tasty. Overall very happy with everything

Normalmente me encantan los salones, casual, ocupado, buenas opciones vegetarianas y veganas. Pensé en probar algo diferente y fui por las tapas. . Feta batida, coliflor bang bang y las quesadillas vegetarianas (que nunca había probado antes) Después de pasar por la mitad de las tapas me tomé otro bocado de las quesadillas para encontrar algo cuerda, para mi horror era un pedazo de carne! Llamé al servidor, me disculpó sinceramente, había pagado a través de Apple Pay así que me ofrecieron cualquier bebida en la casa y me sacaron las quesadillas correctas. Estaba decepcionado y demasiado molesto para quejarme en ese momento, 13 años sin comer carne, por lo general soy muy cauteloso a la hora de revisar mi comida, pero la única ocasión en que me divertí con amigos y no miré! Me preocupa mucho volver.

Tiene una interesante decoración tal vez art nouveau que ayuda con el ambiente y está ocupado todo el día. Solo tenía una bebida pero buen servicio. Más lujoso que otros cafés en la calle y los precios reflejan eso.

The Nasi Goreng is so good!!! Loved it. And service is great too.

Wow. What an experience. Exceptional service as soon as you enter. Order at table through the app. Tapas were amazing. Loved the patata bravas, lamb kofte as well as the cheddar and sweet or fritters. All perfection on a plate (or small bowl!)

The staff at Trago are excellent. The manager is great and the staff are a credit to her. Twice now we've been in a large group with young babies and they have been so accommodating. Food and service fab too. Thank you!

Excellent food and service. We had our work Xmas meal there too, very reasonably priced and the atmosphere was lovely. The fact allergy and dietary requirements are taken seriously and catered for is a massive plus.

Always love the lounges, good for breakfast, brunch, dinner and hangover meals! I got the lamb kofta flatbread and even though it said it would be served warm it was not. I was too hungry so I didn’t say anything, it was still very good :)

Took my twins here to celebrate their 18th birthday and as always food, drink and staff were perfect. They’ve slightly changed the way they do things….you have to wait to be seated and have everything explained to you ie how to order and what menus you require but if you’ve been previously you know all this already. Fabulous as always.

A coeliac’s gluten free dream!! Huge gluten free menu of choices! Knowledgable staff who take orders separate and inform kitchen and share an allergen statement at each visit. Lovely atmosphere. Amazing food. Awesome staff. A must to visit - you won’t be disappointed

One of our favourite places to eat. With a separate vegan menu and a separate gluten free menu Trago caters for everyone. Friendly service, fantastic atmosphere and delicious food.

I asked for medium rare steak i was served with a raw steak. The butter wasn’t melted absolutely horrendous . The chicken was even worse, it tasted as though no salt was in the kitchen. It was completely devoid of any taste. The place looks very good though. L

Staff always helpful and friendly

I really like the way staff engage with customers at Trago. They are always super polite, friendly, engaging and helpful. Atmosphere is also great, lighting is spot on, candles come out early evening which adds to atmosphere. Clientele is varied. We had tapas tonight which was great, also drinks were really good, especially the Cherry Bakewell cocktail. What I like most is that the cocktails are not just two sips and it’s gone. Price point is great as well. Def recommend this place

He estado viniendo a Trago Lounge durante casi 5 años (desde que me mudé a Portswood). Empecé a venir con mi bebé de 7 meses, que obviamente ahora tiene 5 y el personal y la comida siempre han sido excepcionales. Siempre me han hecho sentir bienvenido con un niño y sin él. La comida ha mejorado recientemente en mi opinión. Felicitaciones al chef! Los sabores son excelentes. Me encanta el hecho de que la rotación del personal es muy baja. Cualquier nuevo personal siempre encaja brillantemente. Incluso si me mudo de Portswood, haré un esfuerzo para venir aquí. Uno de los mejores lugares en Southampton para comer y tomar una copa.

First visit today, very busy when we arrived for lunch. Recommended by our Granddaughter. Ordered food and drinks at our table. This was easy to do. What I liked was the fact you could make additions or changes to the drink or meals. Drinks for example with or without ice. A cheeseburger, items not required for example, no onions or other options. Ordering made simple. Despite the restaurant being almost full, our food and drinks arrived very quickly. Good food and a very good atmosphere, a real buzz

Excellent greetings, felt very welcome immediately. Dietary requirements met with gluten free menu. Epic Fish Finger sandwich was especially tasty. Great coeliac options - Mexican Superbowl was a delicious mix of black beans guacamole and the BEST chorizo Lovely Stowford Press - thirst quenching Watermelon iced tea sweet and flavourful Will be visiting again - thank you!

A nice airy place and has an outside sitting area. The food was ok , let down by the squid and prawns both over cooked on this occasion and Service was slow and it wasn’t busy.

Visited here with my friend and 2 year old niece for dinner. It’s very child friendly - kid’s menu, toys and crayons available. Service is always brilliant and the staff are friendly and polite! We all enjoyed our meal and think it’s very reasonably priced. Big portions and an extensive menu!

£5.95 for a pint of IPA. BURGER was okay. But the egg in it was way under cooked, the white was raw. £20 with tip. No, I will not be going back.

Had a super breakfast, Full Gluten Free cooked breakfast, and pancakes with bacon which was delicious, kids bean on toast with cheese which grandson enjoyed. The only reason it got knocked down was hubby had been gluten, it takes just 10/20 minutes for him to know, such a shame as he said it was really enjoyable. I know they give warnings, but I wish more care could be done. It’s simple as using the same utensils, oil in fryers/pans.

Everything about this place is fantastic! I went with other PhD students for a social event and really enjoyed it. The food and drinks are great and they are value for money! I also particularly praised their service handling as well. I understand our orders might be quite confusing due to our diversity, but they handled it really well!

Great food, good price, lovely place.

All round a really chill and lovely place to visit. We tried it for the first time yesterday, and came back today! It's so refreshing to be able to have a choice of gluten free options on the menu, I'm so used to just having chips.. it's frustrating. (If you're GF you know that we are often offered branded premade frozen food that tastes like cardboard.. you won't get that experience here). Thank you Trago, our new regular spot!

Popped in 2 weeks ago and had lounge eggs with smoked salmon and bang bang fried cauliflower. It was so good I went back the following week for lounge eggs with bacon and will be back again tomorrow! Absolutely lovely food and the hollandaise is amazing

Nice and cozy place. But watch out, there have been quite a few car break-ins in this area where thieves are smashing car windows.

Chips portions are tiny. Burgers nice but not really worth the price I would say!

We’ve been there with friends couple days ago and absolutely loved it! We were playing games, staff were very friendly, they served food very quickly. Desserts were amazing! We spent there very good time.

Lovely place. Can't believe it's taken us this long to find the place. Highly recommended. Had a large brakafast, was super tasty, all ingredients are good quality and cooked well. Ordered coffee and juice. Highly recommended we will be back, go early it gets busy.

We love this place and go regularly. It's quite busy but worth the wait for a table which never takes long as there are so many! Good tasty food with a great gluten free menu, and decent coffee too. Friendly staff and board games while waiting for the food to arrive. When it's not raining there's a cool outside area, inside the decor is Boho eclectic chic with a bit of mid century, very cool place to dine 👍

A bit overpriced for what we had

The portion of food decreases every single time I go - from 7 chips in a portion, to 2 tiny bacon rashers. It's extremely disappointing, especially considering that the food isn't cheap to begin with. Staff are nice, but I can't justify going anymore because my friends and I just felt scammed.
