Malvern Tavern in Southampton

It's about 31 years ago that I and my wife used the Malvern Tavern and its even better than 31 years ago

The sharing platter (ultimate sharer) was very tasty and good value. Staff were friendly and the food came quickly. The chairs at the table were a bit dilapidated, so we swapped them out. Overall a good visit.

Had a table for 9 people, and the service was great, the staff were really friendly. Food was great and decent portions too 👍

Aunque la decoración está gastada y la comida como se esperaba para un social, he sido realmente decepcionado por el personal de última hora. Antes era tan amable y acogedor, pero ahora se siente como un inconveniente para simplemente ordenar. Buena pinta recibiendo una sonrisa, especialmente del gerente general. Es una pena.

Food was good but could do an update in furnishing

Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Rachel & Billy looked after us, nothing was too much trouble.

Gran comida por todos. Mamá y tía tenían la oferta de almuerzo que era un gran precio, incluso viene con una bebida alcohólica, si quieres, todo por menos de diez centavos! Buena comida y gran servicio por Billy & Rachel.

Billy and his team hosted a family wake for us this week. The food was delicious, a good choice of hot & cold buffet with vegetarian options, plus a tea & coffee station. There was plenty of it, more than enough actually, & at a reasonable price. The staff were all friendly & couldn't have been more attentive, & considering we packed out half of the pub, coped really well. The pub is clean and tidy & there is free parking. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Malvern in the future. Thank you so much.

Lovely pub lunch after a hospital appointment. Great portions and a lovely pint of Guinness.

I have not been here since I was a child. The Malvern was extremely clean and tidy. The service was great. The staff were cheerful l, happy and pleased to help. The food was amazing, came out hot and full of flavour, and you could tell it was freshly made it is 10/10. Will be a regular.

Tuvimos una comida muy agradable aquí sin duda recomiendo la comida de la hamburguesa del mes era fresca y caliente y llegó rápidamente y Sophie P era extremadamente educado y servicial durante todo el tiempo asegurándose de que estábamos contentos con todo. Gracias chicos seguir el buen trabajo

absolutely disgusting gents toilets, the smell is horrendous and puddles of urine all over the floor and not to mention the actual toilets themselves.

Fantastic staff, great place to go to relax and have a couple drinks, deals and events on most days. Free pool on a Wednesday along with burger and a pint for £10

Malvern Tavern is an amazing pub. Staff are so lovely at the bar, welcoming, friendly and always happy to help with any quieries. Food is excellent with quick service and super delicious, thank you to the chefs. Definitely recommend the small plates and the Burger of the Month. Great deals and lots of great options to choose from. Will be returning thank you Malvern Team!!

Be careful with parking I’ve given a one star now due to receiving a parking ticket for using the car park. I didn’t see any sign with registration of vehicle and I’ve been visiting this tavern for a while now. Wont be visiting anymore. No signs, no communication from bar staff. Very poor and unhappy.

Very welcoming staff. Great decor and atmosphere. The food was served quickly and hot. Chef spoke with us, and asked if we'd enjoyed our meal, which we did. She said she was glad we enjoyed it. Good choice of drinks, although no decaffeinated coffee, which my Cousin asked for, but no complaints

Nice cosy pub with plenty of seating and a good selection of beers and spirits as well as soft drinks. You can also order a meal. Parking is at the back of the pub, and you would need to enter registration details when emtering the pub. Very welcoming.

Nice friendly pub. Popped in here for a bit to eat after travelling down from London. Good selection of beers. Staff friendly and pleasant. Standard pub chain menu with some interesting burgers. Had the combination roast dinner which was nice and reasonably priced. Plenty of outdoor seating and car park to rear of the pub. Plenty of sports show here on a number of TV's.

Billy and his staff was more than attentive and friendly. Excellent range of on tap beers as well. Paid with Blue Light discount as well. There was 9 Blue Light employees in our group. Would not hesitate to recommend and return to The Malvern. Thanks to all staff for an enjoyable evening.

We went for our darts Xmas meal last night. There were 21 of us! Really good evening. Great atmosphere. Staff were brilliant. Food was really good, except the parsnips were a bit hard with the turkey dinner. A few had steaks, which were cooked to perfection and the pie was delicious too. Really good value for money as well. We all had a great time so thank you again to Billy and all your staff!! Hope you all have a great Xmas.

Amazing food, staff and service

Would never spend my hard earned money there again! Food was below average, mashed potato was extremely lumpy, meal was bland. The noise level was through the roof, parents had no control over their children, running around and screaming. Very disappointed indeed.

It is a perfectly pleasant place. Tasty grub and drinks. Staff are nice. Burgers of the month add variety. It's just the music choice, it makes me want to remove mine and others rectums. Whoever is in charge of it, sort it out! Mulled wine is good for the festive season!

I didn't realise mash potato was in such a short supply until having Pie and mash here, it was also sort of squashed weirdly flat to make it look sort of bigger :-) Otherwise it was a nice and reasonable value, particularly if two of you are eating. Nice and polite staff too and spacious place to eat.

Had the Katsu curry, Buttermilk chicken burger followed with a couple of jam roly polys. Feel stuffed. Food was great service quick and friendly will be back soon. 👍

Very loud for just a few people, I believe they were either hard of hearing or very very drunk at 7.30 wouldn't have wanted to eat there due to the level of unneeded noise, otherwise another over priced pub.

Great place for lunch. The lunch menu was very tasty and great value for money. Lots of choice too. A sandwich drink and chips for £9. Staff were very friendly too.

Ate here two nights in a row with family and friends for a get together,food was great value and tapas was brilliant.Very helpful polite staff, we had a loveley time and will be back.

Popped in for lunch when driving past. The food came out quickly and hot. The service was great and we overall a great visit.

Driven past for years, but never visited, mainly due to conflicting reports. My Cousin and Wife live off The Avenue, so thought this would be a good place for lunch. Wasn't disappointed at all. Lovely welcome, superb decor, and obliging staff. My husband is a qualified chef, so we are always a bit wary of pub food. He, along with my Cousin's Wife, had the fish and chips, which they said was very good, my Cousin had pie and mash, which he said was one of the best pies he had eaten and I had the flat bread with salad, halloumi and hot honey sauce, which was delicious. They were busy with a party of 20 on one table, but the food was delivered quickly. Would definitely return if up that end of Town. I particularly liked the big space, not crammed in at all. Good value too. Totally recommend.

Nice pub, nice food and atmosphere. Only thing I would say lets it down is the access to get to the disabled toilet. It is an absolute nightmare to get through especially when it's really busy at the bar. Maybe should think about putting the disabled toilet near the car park entrance at the back of the pub.

I have been drinking and eating in this pub for over 20 years and since Billy and his amazing team took over about a year ago I have never felt more comfortable here, the team are very friendly and polite, and always willing to help anyone with anything !!, the food is always served quickly and hot and to an excellent standard, the entertainment evenings are always amazing, I also enjoy the free pool Wednesdays and the meat draw Sundays, the outside space is quite big and the carpark is a nice size to, would highly recommend this pub for food, friendly helpful staff and amazing entertainment evenings I would not go anywhere else billy and his team go over and beyond to make this pub customer and dog friendly

My wife and I decided to eat at the Malvern before the quiz started. Food was excellent and the staff very welcoming as they normally are. The pub is well overdue a lick of paint and new furniture.

First time here in a long time and it was 10x better. The food was great and service too. Great atmosphere for the football. Looking a little bit tired and run down but overall a much better experience

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend on Thursday and loved it, the food was so nice! Especially the nachos, first time I’ve been here but will definitely be back

Visited here last week for the first time in years, it was still as good as i remembered! had afew drinks and a lovely meal with my man, very reasonable prices and really helpful, friendly and accomodating staff!(tweaked the menu for us abit!) Will be back soon , thanks!

Great food menu has changed since last visit and much improved. Staff were attentive and very helpful. Just a little too breezy with all doors open!

Friendly and polite staff the service was great. Ordered mixed grill was served fairly quickly and the quality was tasty.

Niceish garden but with astroturf rather than real grass. Lots of glasses left out on tables that werent collected, tables are all warped.... In the sun? An orange juice was £5 and wasn't even filled to the top?! Nothing special about it for the price either. Drinks prices are slightly deranged. Highlight is probably the clothes donation box in the car park

Had a roast beef Sunday roast good portions, followed by a great pudding, all good. Reasonable price plus cold beer, enjoyed the meal and atmosphere, would recommend this venue.

Poor food non-existent customer service, afternoon wasted. Will not be going back, not once did any member of staff show any interest towards the customer.

Cold meat veg not cooked if that was Sunday lunch I didn't g.o a lot on it deep fried lumps of potatoes they couldn't pass as roast potatoes all in all total letdown

Service was great, sadly my sirloin steak was not. Mainly fat and gristle unevenly cooked. Nachos were good as was kids food. Pints on the pricy side for a pub.

Not been here for a while the staff were very nice. Can't say much about the chef I had pie chips and peas the pie and chips were realy nice but the peas were hard like pellets. Also the chicken on my gfs plate dry with no sauce. It's like the chef didn't want to cook. Our starters were nice had 3 for 13 quid I will say tho the chef needs to learn how to do salt and pepper squid it was far to salty and still had rubber squid insides

This is typical pub food and good value. The service by Jane was very good and she checked we were happy with our meal. The chicken pie was delicious and the veg nicely cooked - not dried out! There is a buzzy atmosphere that did not impinge on our conversation.

Came in today with the lads for a few pints I must say what a difference atmosphere it had in here the new management is amazing they have so much time for you want to get to know you it really is a lovely place the food looks lovely will definitely be back for a mixed girll the only thing was it needs a touch up

Introduction: This was my first time at this theater in quite some time. Welcome: The cashier was very nice. The movie we wanted to see last show was at 3pm but on the website it showed one for 7:30pm. The cashier suggested another movie and my son was okay with it so we stayed. Experience: Overall our experience was a good one. My only issue was the temperature inside the auditorium. It felt like the a/c was on even though the weather wasn’t hot enough for it. Ambiance: The theater was clean including the bathroom which is a big plus for me! The chairs inside the auditorium are recliners with the eating tray attached. You can order food online and have it brought to you which is always a plus! Price: Coming to Malvern Tavern to see the movie was worth the price. We will return Tip: Going at the end of February you may want to take a jacket just in case it’s a little chilly inside.

Came in Saturday for dinner and there was a great atmosphere. The food was delicious and staff very friendly. They had a band on so we decided to stay. Looks like they have some great events coming up so will be back

Booked for a birthday meal. The starters were great, as for the main meals, they were small, warm, the chicken was dry, the fish was cheap, definitely not cod, the pastry on the pie was really thick and inedible. Will not be going again. The staff were ok.

I can think of better pubs that charge the same price + there's been a fruit fly infestation for months that still hasn't been sorted. New management need to do a better job than this, come on...

Just returned home after a meal here. It was the worst experience I've ever had in an English pub. There was loud music playing, everybody shouting and dogs barking. What were they even in there for? It was also rather cold. The food arrived reasonably quickly. I had Hunters Chicken, which is usually my favourite, my husband had gammon. His was good, but mine was puny, dried out and contained chicken skin. The chips and onion rings were good though. We could not have the discussion we intended to because of the noise. The waitress was friendly though. We won't be going there again.

A picture says a thousand words. I have previously complained direct to Greene King about the disgusting toilets in this establishment but the place continues to deteriorate whilst introducing premium brands and charging extortionate prices to eat and drink in squalor. I have been assured that everything has been remediated since my visit on 3 February. In fact they have told me in an email on 9 February that “improvements …. have been implemented.” and I will “enjoy a high quality experience on my next visit “ so I will see them tomorrow and update my review in due course. Watch this space as they say. Btw this is no reflection on the manager in situ . I blame the area manager and area director.

Me and my partner stopped off for some dinner and we were welcomed with smiling faces and great service the meal was a good price would definitely recommend and will be coming back.
