Pitcher & Piano - Southampton in Southampton

Having spent a 3 day vacation from our home in Kent to spend NYE at a Southampton hotel until today, on our last day (Thursday) we took a ferry to the Isle of Wight and spent the full afternoon there. On our return we decided to visit the Pitcher & Piano in Southampton (right in front of the marina) for our dinner as we had already checked on Google to ensure it was open. It was a nightmare trying to find somewhere to park the car that wasn't permit only. We asked a passer by to where we were heading to and where we could park. He informed us we could park in Tesco Express as there is a pay & display machine there and the P&P is only a short walk from the car park. After paying £2.20 to park to cover our evening at the P&P we began to walk in the direction we were advised. We arrived outdide the P&P at 7:59pm to find the whole premises surrounded by scaffolding. No lights on at the restaurant, no guests and no staff!!!. Well I guess that this restaurant is closed for construction refurb even tho it states on the side of the building that it's still open??? On Google search it says it was open also??? So why had the management not updated this??? If it was advertised as closed then we wouldn't of attended. The Banana restaurant next door was open and was 50% full. It would have been nice to have known the P&P was closed rather than a wasted journey and a waste of money parking, hence why I have given 1 star for poorly managing your opening hours.

I often refer to this place as "The Worst Kept Secret in Southampton". Its a nice bar, the building it occupies has been undergoing structural work, but the food and drinks are great from my visits. I always try to find an excuse to come here when I'm in Southampton!

Food was indeed great, but they closed the kitchen at 9pm and had turned the coffee machine off, so we couldn't order desserts and coffees. Shame they didn't ask if we wanted anything before they did that. We had finished our mains in good time ... We were celebrating a birthday ... Bit of a down

Good but very quiet. Slow service but only one guy on the bar. Have heard its very good when busier but we did pick unusual times to go for a drink before an early dinner

Después de decidir volver aquí después de bastante tiempo (debido al hecho de que pensamos que había sido cerrado debido a todos los andamios. ) decidimos venir aquí para un bocado rápido para comer. Sin embargo, a pesar de llamar antes de preguntar sobre las horas de almuerzo y que se nos dijo que "entrar" a la llegada nos recibió (si es que se puede llamar así) por un joven alto muy poco acogedor detrás de la barra. Sin sonrisa, sin hola, sin intentarlo un poco más tarde, solo un ; “sin reserva sin mesa” como continuó sirviendo una bebida. Nos quedamos muy sorprendidos ya que solo había otra mesa en, el lugar en general estaba muerto, aparte de 1 mesa de cumpleaños. Tanto la joven como la joven nos hicieron sentir muy desagradables, casi sentimos que éramos un gran inconveniente pidiendo una mesa de 2. Es posible que sea difícil tomar nuestro pedido antes de la mesa más grande o explicar que puede haber una espera en la comida, o incluso mencionar volver más tarde, en lugar de rechazar el negocio de un lugar que claramente ha sido muy tranquilo debido al mantenimiento. En su lugar decidimos quedarnos con el salón local - marítimo (que estaban mucho más ocupados) y aún así logramos recibir un buen nivel de servicio. No voy a volver aquí.

Excellent customer service, very good food and prices are reasonable.

Es triste decir que nuestra última experiencia con P&P Southampton fue terrible. Fui allí para celebrar los 65 años de un colega. Casi ningún personal, la comida era atroz (ya sea Luke caliente o todavía congelado). Su idea de pan de ajo queso era una envoltura de tortilla con un poco de queso y su ensalada Caesar era lechuga y un aderezo de vinagreta. ¡ALÉJATE, POR FAVOR!

Había reservado una mesa para 7 para la celebración de la graduación. Desafortunadamente a su llegada todo el edificio está cubierto de andamios, por lo que es oscuro en el interior y significa incapaz de ver las bonitas vistas de la aldea del océano. También éramos las únicas personas en el restaurante, así que era un poco de un ambiente incómodo. También nos dieron un menú mucho más pequeño que lo que está en línea, el personal se disculpó y dijo que era debido a los nuevos propietarios, pero esto no se nos comunicó al hacer la reserva. Nos fuimos y fuimos al salón maritimo en su lugar, ya que era una ocasión especial. El personal no tuvo la culpa y se disculpó.

Ate hear recently for my mothers 90th. I had the seabass and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and cocktails brought over to our table looked and tasted amazing. Will definitely be back.

Bottomless brunch very naughty but nice nice nice, beware when you hit the outside fresh air after consuming a lot of Prosecco LOl. Well done thanks to all the staff

Service was great and food was good

Vaya que joya, tiene un montón de andamios afuera, que aunque fuera de poner vale la pena aventurarse. La entrada es grande y bien iluminado, con un bar de aspecto moderno, recibido por Bradley que nos preguntó si estábamos aquí para la comida o bebidas, también preguntó si teníamos alguna alergia, que fue una sorpresa en el buen sentido. El menú era bastante pequeño, pero tenía una gran variedad de platos. Para empezar tuvimos algunos entrantes para compartir, papas fritas Halloumi donde destaca, con una mayonesa de ajo y aderezo de chile miel, también deslizadores de pollo con mayonesa jalapeña, delicia crujiente justo ahí. Para la alimentación, tanto la esposa como yo nos metimos en el enorme Haddock con papas fritas con puré de guisantes casero, ya que el chef dijo que no le gustan los guisantes enlatados, se negó a venderlo, y la salsa tártara, era zingy. Un bateador crujiente por el que morir. También uno de los miembros del grupo tenía el aspecto impresionante Lubina servida con patatas nuevas y verduras de temporada emulación de mantequilla de limón, que era tangy con limón, se ven impresionantes. Hamburguesa de queso y tocino con ensalada de col casera también se veía generosa y era lobo abajo. Unas cuantas Pina coladas más tarde estábamos tomando un taxi a casa. Definitivamente recomiendo, espero volver, hablé con el chef que parecía amable y feliz de hacer cambios donde sea necesario. Dylan en la barra parecía amable y trajo nuestras bebidas de una manera ordenada sin tomar demasiado tiempo. Gracias P&P Southampton recomendará

Honestly, this place has been in a steady decline over the past 2 years and this was probably the last time I'll step foot in here. It's a Friday night and the place is mostly empty, yet it took forever to get a drink order in. There are technically 2 guys behind the bar but only one of them is doing any work. The other one is just stood there, doing absolutely nothing despite the queue. Just playing with his keys. They also apparently have no glasses, I suppose the kitchen is just as understaffed and there are no KPs to deal with the dishes. This understaffing problem has been an issue every time I've come here and it's such a joke at this point. Management need get off their rear ends and hire more people. Responding to these reviews but taking no action is pointless.

Cannot comment on food or service. Closed. Atmosphere: the outside is a building site. Some outside seating next to a wooden building board with the noise of the business next doors extractor fans. Updating opening hours on Google only takes a couple of minutes. Wasted journey for us.

What a shambles so bad it was laughable. Totally unprepared and under staffed, luckily we had time on our side and did eventually get seated despite having pre booked. 20 mins later the very stressed out crying waitress took our order and brought our wine, then it took over an hour to get our very average food order. Unfortunately as it was a pre Take That concert day everywhere else was fully booked so we just had to wait it out and hope we got fed. Terrible experience won't be going back there in a hurry.

We booked in for 3pm. We arrived and was told that we could have the table for 90mins. Not a problem we thought, we could not have been more wrong. We were taken to our table which was not laid and given no menus. After a while we went to ask for menus and got our own cutlery. We sat waiting for someone to take our order and no one came. My mum went to the bar to order drinks in the meantime. They didn't come. We asked if someone was taking food orders at the table and was told he was too busy. He said it would be quicker to order at the bar. It wasn't. By this point we had been there for 40 mins. Still no drinks. Asked about the drinks order which still wasn't with us. He read back the order which was completely wrong. Our drinks finally came and cocktails you would describe as poor at best. We could see food was sitting waiting to go out and after over an hour we asked about our starters and was told there were 4 tickets in front of ours. The starters finally came out after 1 hour 15 mins from arrival. We cancelled the mains and left. There were staff working hard but seemed to be busy fools. One particular lady was lazy. She seemed to be trying to look busy whilst doing nothing at all. There was no direction, no leadership. There was no customer service at all and the restaurant was only about half full. Staff were all busy behind the bar and no one in the restaurant. The man who served us was extremely apologetic but we left so disappointed.

as much as the food was lovely the service was dreadful. Food delivered an hour later than promised- as a pre order group its poor. To add to this the bar staff were not even contributing to the delivery of food, our own group were delivering the food. To do this, on a pre order is outrageous. We expected better. the food was lovely and hot, but overpriced and slow- we expected more

Very poor experience this time after a lovely time last year. Doubt we will return. Scaffolding made it very gloomy so couldn't sit outside to enjoy the view.Also no atmosphere in the place on a Friday night . No one seemed bothered that it was practically empty or attempt to make up for it. Closed the bar at 2130 so we didn't have sweets after our meal or any more drinks. Catered OK for my wife's Lactose intolerance but her first choice of meal vegan curry was not available. All the meals however were good

The poor experience started when we walked to the venue to see it completely covered in scaffolding. It was nice weather so was looking forward to sitting outside with a few drinks before our meal with the nice view. Asked staff and they said works should have been finished in March. Sitting inside was dingy and probably why not many people for a Friday night so no atmosphere. Ordered meals but they didn't have the curry. Looking at other reviews it seems they often don't have a full menu. Food was good and waitress also checked for the Lactose free meal for my wife so thumbs up to them for this. ( Hence the 2 stars) At 9 20 just as we were finishing our mains we were told last orders . The bar would be closing in 10 minutes . Told new Management had decided it was not worth staying open. We realised we weren't welcome and didn't order any more drinks or the sweets we were looking forward to, paid up and went to Banana wharf.

Turned up for a bottomless brunch. Got seated in a corner next to the loud kitchen when next to a massive group of 20 even though the rest of the resteraunt was empty with a view of the marina. After 30 mins of no service went up to bar, got told they were busy even though 5 of them standing at the bar not doing anything that looked like work. After 40 mins finally had an order taken. 15 minutes later we gave up and left. Still 5 of them stood at the bar not working. As we left I explained it’s been too long and they could not care less and didn’t even move from their leaning positions on the bar. After 1hour of being there not a single food or drink provided. Will not be going back. Had good experiences in the past but unfortunately not this time. went round the corner to maratino lounge and had a great time.

Arrived for a bottomless brunch at 2pm and were seated. Waited almost half an hour before going to the bar as we hadn't been served. Waited again for 20 minutes and still no drinks. The woman at the bar said the brunch won't start until the first drink but by that time it would have been over an hour late and we had a booking elsewhere later that day. We were seated around the corner from the bar so it almost felt like we were just forgotten about. We ended up walking out after an hour of waiting as the service was ridiculously slow. The staff were all stood around the bar and couldn't have cared less as we said we were going. Not even an apology! Hugely shocking and disappointing as we had a bottomless brunch here last year and the service was fantastic and very quick. The rude behaviour from the staff has put me and my friends off from booking here again.

The food came out really quick, we ordered our meals and a sharing plate of nachos, the food was all delicious and it wasn’t expensive! the drinks were delicious and they also came out really quick, all the staff were incredible and so professional, always making sure we were ok and seeing if we wanted anything else. Would love to go back soon!

Loveley setting, but experience was not so great. Took ages for drinks to arrive, food was cold/inediable, cutlery eventually was put on the table, in wine coolers for us to help ourselves. I have the cooked breakfast, I sent my beans back as were cold, no butter for toast, the egg was hard, but the sausages were delicous, so full marks the them! I am srill waiting for my requestedd salt, pepper and ketchup!!!!

The staff were very helpful and nice but for a Southampton home match day there just simply weren't enough of them. Great views and great choice of food and drink.

Having booked a work party for 25 people we were disappointed that there was only one person running the bar. This meant that it took an age to get served. That being said the chap was pleasant and tried his best. The food was excellent and I'd recommend the buffet. It was delicious and the amount was spot on for our group. I used to request the P&P in OV often as our office was around the corner. I'd say it feels a bit tired now. It used to look nice when the staff had the P&P shirts/uniforms. They seemed to have a policy of having at least two people behind the bar at all times which meant the customer experience was slick and felt better. For the sake of a few £££ for another person I think you'd send customers away feeling better about their visit.

Went for lunch on 19th March. Restaurant was empty but we were shown to a table, not taking advantage of the limited view of the marina,so looking at the car park. Which was unfortunately due to scaffolding in place for works above the restaurant by who I assume was the manager as the workmen plastering the ceiling were appropriately dressed to identify their task while the manager was not wearing company specific smart clothes to help promote his position. Glasses & cutlery was dirty, which surprised as we weren't in a greasy spoon cafe. Food was ok, served quickly and hot as we were the only diners. I've been here twice before but based on this visit I will never return.

Went for lunch on mother's day, the food was good, service was great, just a shame that it was covered in scaffolding on the outside, there would have been a lovely view otherwise.

The food and drink was very good, the service less so. There were two members of staff on during the evening and didn't seem completely happy, they weren't rushed off their feet either as there was only 4 (from memory) other tables in during the time I visited. They didn't seem proactive and looked miserable, we weren't even offered desserts when we finished our mains either. For this reason, we got up and left to go for dessert and a few more drinks elsewhere. Shame, as the service previously has been good, this was the only let down.

Absolutely awful service. I accept the staff were busy but they were unnecessarily rude when we politely requested things like ketchup for chips & the rest of the order. Really ruins the experience

Room for improvement on the food (expensive nachos) and speed of service. Bar staff were nice but new and slow which held us up repeatedly which was a shame as it was a party. The two who were serving both seemed new - they needed backup from more experienced staff.

Really lovely meal great quality food and staff are very friendly. We would love to visit again soon. A good view on the marina and a relaxed atmosphere.

My daughter took me here for a birthday treat. We experienced really great quality food, friendly staff, and a very nice view to the marina despite the scaffolding which currently covers the window frontage. The butternut curry was delicious. Service was excellent and everyone was so friendly . The two for one expresso martini cocktails were a nice after dinner treat. Beautifully furnished surroundings spotlessly clean, a very pleasant environment and a great afternoon, we will definitely visit again .

Disgusting how they treat the staff not trained properly and under paid. Constant deductions for things that are not the staffs fault new owners are a disgrace!

We reserved in advance and were seated at the table we requested. We were welcomed by smiley staff as we entered the restaurant. We were not rushed to order. We requested slight changes to the menu - all of which were obliged The staff were not overpowing but they kept an eye on us The staff were lovely The food was lovely The restaurant was a lovely temparture The toilets were clean Everything was perfect and we cant wait to return

The food was great. We loved it. However, the brownie dessert was a miss in our opinion. But the service was great, even though slow at times.

There was one person working the bar, we were told to just pick any table even though we had a booking, we waited 30 mins with no drinks or menus, stood at the bar for 15 mins and then decided to leave. The toilets were filthy as well.

Treated my daughters to a meal out tonight. Very pleased with the experience. Was welcomed on arrival, the atmosphere was pleasant and the restaurant clean and well presented. Service was not rushed and paced perfectly. We had starters, mains and deserts....none of which I could fault. Fantastic night out. We were served by Michaela who was very helpful and informative and made sure we were looked after. Would definitely recommend.

The food is 10/10 could not fault, we had nachos ,burgers and steak with the sticky toffee puddings and cheesecake for dessert. Our waitress Michaela was really friendly and took good care of us . The price was very good for the food and service we had. We will definitely be returning:)

The staff that were there were working as fast as they could under pressure and our waitress was friendly, however the service just wasn't great, I think due to lack of staff. Unfortunately, this showed, given the busy Christmas period. Food orders were wrong, half the table served & finished before the others came out. Not asked how we would like our steak cooked, and it arrived very undercooked, so it had to be sent back. Roast turkey was nice, but we did not get our extras as pre ordered. Cocktails were nice & well made, so that helped. Helped myself to spoons for pudding as we were not given any, just forks on the table...for ice cream? Felt like we were left to fend for ourselves a little to be honest, I spent the evening clearing our empties.. Our second works Christmas meal here in 3 years, and unfortunately, I feel this will be our last. The manager did offer a discount because of the issues, which was a nice gesture and made the evening more reasonably priced for what we did eat & drink.

Lovely atmosphere! The food was reasonable but could improve, in my opinion. They do have a variety of beers and cocktails and the service is quite good.

The heating was broken and it was freezing. Had we known this in advance we would have gone elsewhere. Our waitress said it would hopefully be fixed by Friday which was no use to us at all on a Wednesday! It is impossible to enjoy a meal with friends when you are shivering as it was so cold.

The staff are very friendly, it was a very quiet for a Friday night, but then a couple of places we went too were the same. About half of the draught drinks weren’t available, the men’s toilets was closed so you had to use the accessible toilets. The door on these toilets were stuck and didn’t open fully, there was no soap and no one checking the toilets. Considering there were lots of staff and it was quite this could have been easily carried out.

Awful. It was my mum’s birthday. She’s 77 and in a wheelchair. It took a lot of effort to persuade her out these days. First of all the temperature was freezing. So cold she wore her puffa jacket throughout the whole meal. We all kept our jumpers on also, felt really uncomfortable. My parents had hot drinks because they were so cold. She’s a bit fussy with food but u have fish and chips and that’s all good. I also had it. It was awful. Very little fish and all batter. But the batter wasn’t good. So hard and crunchy. When u cut into it it just crumbled. You needed a spoon to pick it up. Other people’s food seemed good though to be far. Another point was service. The girl we had was amazing. But she was on her own, no support at all with the tables. She was running back and forth working her socks off. She was amazing, but where was the support. I come to u before every saints game and think it might b time to move on. Ruined my mum’s birthday ruined it for the rest of us also. Not good enough.

Not too busy and the food was fast and top notch.

Incredible experience. The guy with the tattoos I think his name might or might not have been Sam. We drink in the area and after Nathan left it was nice to see someone great come in.

Had booked a table weeks in advance for 12 people to celebrate a 21st birthday. When we arrived, we were told that they weren’t handling any bookings and that they didn’t have a table for us. Then we were told that had put 2 tables together for us so we agreed to stay, only to find out they were 2 tables outside (in the evening in October), and that the tables weren’t even next to each other. Very unhappy as it was to celebrate a 21st birthday and that we couldn’t all sit with each other and we’re left to sit out in the cold weather despite booking nearly a month in advance!

Beautiful venue. Served by James who was very friendly. It wasn't very busy but loved coming here!

The Prosseco was flowing, the food was yummy and the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely book a bottomless brunch here again!

Went for a bottomless for a friends birthday and the staff were amazing! So accommodating and really made the experience so enjoyable! Would recommend to a friend. Our server was Nathan and he joked with us and was really nice with fast service.

It was a pleasant experience. Only small points would be gristle in one sausage and thought the cheesecake was expensive as it was a very small portion. Otherwise satisfactory.

Service great staff great, but your building has scaffold round and giant white board walls making the experience not great when the sun is out on one if the best days of the year. We booked in advance no one told us this or we would have booked else where.

I love coming here for coffee or a full-on meal!! View is always nice and smoking/vaping is allowed on the tables outside!! A nice latte with vanilla syrup usually does a great job for a friendly catch up. Their menu offers a variety of juicy burgers, yet plenty more healthier options to choose from in case you are after a lighter meal!! Next time will make sure I take a picture of the menu too! Staff are always nice and friendly! The venue is also dog friendly, which gives you the opportunity to meet a new furry friend at the bar at all times! The place is very clean and keeps high standard for hygiene in all ways!

Great food, left to your own devices and staff were all very polite, I would recommend going here again, a little on the pricey side but the quality makes it well worth it!
