I had forgotton one very important aspect in my review.. what made my experience was the very best servers, Ingrid and Ivan, nothing was too much trouble for them..

Just nipped in with a mate for a drink early afternoon - during non existent "happy hour" - and was charged £22 for a ( very small ) margarita and a medium white wine. Had to go elsewhere, afterwards, for a ( much cheaper ) stiff drink to get over the shock.

I didn't eat here so I can't give a rating for food but it's a great place to gather, meet your people and have a drink and just have fun

Great pub. Really cool inside with live performances on occasion. Nice outside sitting area, with heat lamps so it can be used year round. The bathrooms leave a little to be desired but they’re usable. Good place for a drink

Had a nicely pleasant cocktail made by Vicky. I called it Vicks Cocktail. She went all the way and beyond to ensure we were made comfortable. Her male colleague that night was also friendly..

Great place to eat and meet up. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Has a function room and yes if you have a friendly word with the staff they will put on American football or whatever you want.

This place is brilliant for drinks! As soon as my partner and I arrived we were made to feel welcome, and were asked about what type of cocktails we wanted. We didn’t get his name but the the guy that served us was very friendly, honest and made us delicious drinks! I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place that knows their stuff, and for amazing drink. 10/10!

Rude member of staff Saturday, completely unnecessary

When I looked this place up I saw phrases like "stripped back" and "blank canvas". It's this, just not in a charming way. The upstairs bit is where people who are mashed go to listen to random rubbish put out by so-called DJ's. Every time I tried to pay by card, the one bartender there was had to run to the door to get reception on the machine. The music was so loud, being social wasn't actually doable.

I've not experienced the ground floor bar but the top bar, as a function room and meeting place, is good. A separate bar, sound system and facilities - all work well for a private party.

Great place! They don't mind you getting a little rowdy and also don't do food so are happy for you to order in! I recommend the peach beer! Down too easily!

There’s not much more you could ask of a venue tbh, good drinks, good atmosphere, acceptable prices. Come 2/3 times a week with my friends and the staff are all so lovely, good outdoor seating area now so we can’ sit in the sun, we’d defo recommend !!!

Went out for a night out for my birthday and came here for what should have been a few drinks (ended up staying for one). On the drinks menu, it stated "Happy hour 5pm-9pm, 2 4 £9.95" and "£3 Amstel / Symonds / Sol" Our order was a cocktail 'Fur coat no knickers', 3 Sols and a vodka and coke. We ordered at 8:40pm. We ended up with one cocktail (which was the smallest cocktail I've ever seen) paying £7.95 for it and paying over £4 for each Sol. When mentioned to the waitress, she said "were not doing happy hour at the moment". We expressed our unhappiness and mentioned false advertisement, she got herself in a manner that was unpleasant. We recieved no apology. We were not told before ordering that happy hour was not effective. Not very impressed.

Just been in, said I would have a roast, saw the roast I said kitchen, just laying there on the side cooked. I refused to eat the food on the side and we all got kicked out. Fuming tbh

Decent bar, in the heart of Southampton

Friendly staff, pool tables, comfortable indoor seating and plenty of space outside. It can get a bit rowdy, but that's all part of the fun. Great range of beverages, including some specific to this venue only.

Lovely laid back bar stroke lounge. The drinks are ore student orientated beer and simple cocktails. The music is amazing ..good blend of old school hip hop and new beats. There is live music with open mic on a Wednesday which is well worth it. The bar is also dog friendly the staff really down to earth and do as much to make you feel welcome. There is plenty of sofas for a laid back experience..cone with friends or a group or come alone and make new friends! All in all a great lounge for chilling out and having a relaxed drink. There are also two pool tables as well.

Entré por asado y tuve la peor experiencia. La comida es simplemente horrible. El servicio es lento. Empleados groseros. He arrancado mi top favorito en el banco del baño por una uña expuesta (fotos adjuntas). Aparentemente, a nadie en este lugar le importa tener un lugar tan desagradable.

Favourite bar in Southampton to combine pool and whisky. Added bonus I can take the dog in during the daytime

Came in on Friday night for a few drinks with mates, the girl that served me was the most unprofessional person I’ve met. She stared at me instead of actually saying hi or asking what I’d like to order, when I did order she insisted on not making my drink for a few minutes because of her desire to finish her conversation with the guys standing at the bar. The Jessica rabbit wannabe wouldn’t even clear our table after a few rounds, as a group of 5 the empty glasses started piling up. Such a same considering everyone on staff were great.

The roast here tasted exactly like Christmas leftovers. Potatoes tasted reheated and Yorkshire’s were soggy. Could go to any other bar and not have such a huge waiting time for just an awful meal. P.s bathrooms are in dire need of a revamp. The smell is ungodly and everything is broken. You’d be lucky to find a bit of toilet paper.

Really enjoyed the event last night. Special thank you to Courtney who manned the bar single handed. Was attentive and even knew the orders before we asked. Was nice to see a friendly face from all the bar staff. Keep up the good work. Will def be back again.

One of the bartenders are freaking next level! Matt could be a celebrity bartender. He had us all waiting just for him and his pour tricks. Most delicious cocktails too!!! Will come back everytime he works!

Hosted a wedding for my daughter. Went above and beyond to help and assist Lawrence your amazing and I didnt get a chance to say thanks for being great and so aware of your guests needs.

Me and my wife had decided to host our wedding reception at this venue months ago and held the party last night... to say the staff, managers and everyone else involved in the company went above and beyond the expectations is an understatement, every single bartender wouldn’t stop smiling all day and were so polite and understanding to guests, even the guests with disabilities. The manager Lawrence was absolutely outstanding, ran round like a headless chicken to make sure everything was perfect and he definitely made it that way and again he never stopped smiling and nothing was ever too much for him to do, or even the staff for that matter. Me and my new wife honestly can not express enough how great full we are for what they have done for us and a 5* rating is definitely not enough and deserve more! We will definitely be hosting party’s here again and will forever be a big part of our special day and we can not thank you all enough.

Wedding party held here. Staff were outstanding and they adapted so quickly to the needs of guests they were all superstars. Massive shout out to the bar staff chefs and lawerence who could not of done more if they had tried.

Sunday Roast at The Social is damn near perfect. Great for vegan and vegetarian options too. We go frequently and as it’s dog friendly can enjoy a meal with the whole family! Also the tequila selection ... thank me later

We hired the top floor for our staff xmas party and had an absolute blast. It's a great blank canvas to decorate and use for whatever kind of event you want, and the staff were very helpful and happy to support us. Buffet was delicious and great range of drinks available!

Went here with my son who said this was his 'local'. Lovely setting, good choice of drinks and had a brilliant lunch. Apparently Sunday roast is fabulous-my son is a big fan! Go alone, you shouldn't be disappointed, I wasn't.

A nice place to eat in the day a great place to party on a weekend. Nice bar with great staff, and one of the best roasts in the town!

I love this venue!!! The cocktails are incredible! unlike places like turtle bay they are made with decent quality spirits. I visit often to see what beer they have on and what guest craft lager they have in, safe to say I'm never disappointed.

I have bee a few times and can say that all the times I have been the staff have been friendly, even the doorman which can be a shock. The prices are pretty standard for Southampton but the pool tables at the back are nice. My most recent visit was for a birthday party which was held upstairs, before this visit I had never seen the upstairs and I was surprised and happy with the size of the room and with the bar.

A very popular bar in Bedford place. Here you can play pool, watch sport, or dance to the dj all at once. The drinks were expensive a red wine and a lager was £10.30.

Went out for Sunday roast today and was not disappointed! Even with a big group of us (13) the service was quick and friendly and the food spot on. Very impressed with the new menu (please put the Sunday menu on the website!) and was glad my teenage boys and baby nephew were made welcome. Very good value at £12 a head. Particularly recommend the cauliflower cheese. Will certainly be back!

The Social has a nice atmosphere aside from Friday/Saturday nights when the music is a bit too loud and it's packed. Staff are lovely. The only thing that lets it down is the price of their ale, over a fiver a pint!

Lo social hace lo mejor Mac'n'cheese! Este es un gran lugar de encuentro para mí y mis amigos, con 2 - 4 - 1 cócteles y juegos de billar en los que realmente no puedes equivocarte. Me encanta la decoración rústica industrial, simple y fría. Casual o planeado, Social siempre es nuestro primer puerto de escala.

I don’t know what you consider a pizza but this certainly doesn’t look or taste like one to me. The shoestring fries are also not what shoestring fries are supposed to be. My food arrived at room temperature and I’m thoroughly disappointed. As you can see from the picture, I tried to give it a chance but I couldn’t eat it. EDIT: for some reason it won’t allow me to upload the photos.

Friend hired a private room for a birthday. Plenty of staff on the bar, reasonably priced drinks (especially for a Saturday night in Southampton). Toilets were really dark, struggled to see!

Fantastic Food...& Great Staff!!! Being a vegetarian I've never had so many yummy things to choose from...and with 2 for 1 cocktails aswell...makes for the perfect place!! Looking forward to coming back again.

Can't really fault it besides the odd moody doorman or bar staff serving in a random order instead of by how long you've been stood there. The girl who ran the upstairs bar for my Christmas work do was great.

Reasonable drink prices and good place to meet

The social staff welcome you with open arms and smiling faces! The drink menu is of an impeccable variety, offering some tasty cocktails. But the food, oh the food. Whoever is in the kitchen is a genius and will certainly get my custom again and again. The quality of the food and how it’s put together is amazing and will definitely get your taste buds going! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Visited for the first time on Friday, loved the venue, the music being played and was particularly impressed by the great customer service. I was curious about having a few cocktails and was swiftly seen to and informed about a 2 for 1 deal for cocktails on Friday's. So I ordered two delicious "donkey punches" made by the very helpful barmaid mia. Thanks and I'll be back again.
