I found this fabulous little deli as I am working at the boat show right near it. I love it here it’s very quaint and the scrumptious food has a quirky twist to it. This is a lovely elegant gem of a place that you must visit. The homemade sausage rolls and bacon jam pinwheels are so yummy I’m going to be taking some back to Kent with me.

Love the pig hotels but they need to fix their website. You can't search across multiple hotels for more than a one night stay (if you select 2 night stay and then select "all hotels" it reverts to a one night stay). They have built a great brand but are losing customers (like me) who just want to stay at any Pig hotel for a weekend; it's too hard to find availability.

We went here for lunch on Saturday and the food was very good. The sausage roll was a big portion and absolutely delicious. Nice spot to sit outside when the sun is shining. Local pilsner was very nice but at £6 a bottle it is pricey.

The Best Boutique Hotel we have ever stayed at! The smell of the food when you walk in the door, the cleanliness and style of the room, the convenient location. If you are cruising out of this port, you can see the cruise ship. Wonderful place, we will definitely be back to visit. Thank you Pig in the Wall!!!

Beautiful building & interior. Good choice of lunch options, lots of vegetarian dishes. Our negative was the service, or lack of. There were 4 staff members working, all too busy chatting to each other! We had to go up to order food, order coffee etc. A nice place definitely let down by the staff today.

We went one day for lunch, and returned the next day for dinner. It's an amazingly appealing, homey place on the inside -- full of antiques settings -- and its position within the medieval wall is remarkable. The food is quite good, fresh and with a farm-to-table vibe.

We had a fabulous night’s stay at The Pig in the Wall. Our room (4) was spotlessly clean, with the most comfortable bed. The room was decorated so stylishly and there was everything in the room we could have needed. The staff were very welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful. We stayed overnight at The Pig in the Wall. A love it stay and the building has lots of great features. Also had dinner and breakfast. Parking is extra but was nice to be in a secure car park with no rush to leave it. Dinner was good, a limited menu due to kitchen size but good. Breakfast was good but I felt it was pricy for what you got. A 4 rather than 5 due to pricy breakfast but also we didn’t get on with pillows finding them far too soft and hence struggled to sleep. But … would recommend and would come back.

Stayed here under the 'Supper and Snooze' offer which is basically a deli supper with bed and breakfast for two at £220. The 'room' we were given was basically a converted attic space, which I believe they described as 'snug'! Snug was an understatement...you could only access one side of the bed by ducking to avoid the slanting ceiling eaves and only dress by sitting on the bed. The room was suitable for a single bed at the very best and the almost vertical stairs to the room were, in my opinion, quite dangerous! Our deli supper and breakfast was poor and not up to normal 'PIG' standards. I'm afraid this is one PIG we won't be returning to...sorry!

The Pig in the Wall is a lovely experience! We stayed one night pre-cruise. If you’re looking for a cookie-cutter/business hotel, this is not it. This boutique hotel is built into the ancient city walls and oozes character and quirky without being weird. At the same time it has modern conveniences, including quiet air conditioning, in-room coffee/tea and a fabulous shower. Spotlessly clean; they have thought of everything you could need or want and it’s all done with flair. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast with farm-fresh ingredients. The staff is terrific, especially Lucy. There is no elevator but the staff carried our heavy luggage to our 3rd floor room.

What a ridiculous set of policies this place has … only (very very expensive) bar snacks served outside - none of the beautiful food on display at the counter inside - “if we served you as an exception, everyone would want it “… err isn’t that you want … sell more produce etc. “Your outside menu says variety of cakes - which are they?” … “the ones inside” ( no sense of irony here. “So no inside food outside , except the cakes” “Yes - it’s to do with the kitchen - we can do the cakes without them” … except the cinnamon rolls which are warmed in the kitchen but are allowed outside. Great. So we order bar snacks and drinks and are asked to pay in advance because “we can’t keep an eye on everyone and we’ve had some people walk off recently “ Unbelievably poor service.

This is not something the usual visitor will come across as it is located away from the shops, theatres, and ferry terminal. It’s in the most historical part if the time. We were given a voucher as a birthday present so we chose to a lunch. Whilst the dining room is quite compact each table has plenty of room. The menu is quite small and focussed but we knew this before we went. We chose a range of “Piggy bits” and “Starters” rather than go for a main course. I did find the pork pie a little small but it was very tasty and came with a nice selection of pickled vegetables but disappointingly a pot of what tasted like Branston pickle – I was expecting something more artisan or local. Gluten free Carrot cake was delicious and the staff were very engaging.

Always wanted to visit a Pig Establishment as forefront of quality food. Thought we would stop here for drinks and some food - wish we hadn’t - 2 small burgers with tasteless coleslaw served in paper boxes and bottle of wine over £50. Felt ripped off especially when the wine came with plastic beakers. After a request they did bring out some glass ones but no ice bucket for the wine. Whole experience was a huge let down. A little bit underwhelmed with The Pig in the Wall. The Manager and the staff were excellent, very polite and attentive. The lunch was delicious, would recommend either the Portland dressed crab or the Slow Cooked Smoked Belly Bacon, both were excellent. For breakfast the Full English Piggy Pan was disappointing. The room was underwhelming, best described as an average room at quite an expensive price. The mattress was exceedingly hard (which I prefer) but this might not be to everyone's liking. I thought it was odd that I couldn’t find the dinner menu on their website. Anyway we decided to go there after reading other reviews. The interior is very eclectic and quite nice. However to call it a restaurant is a bit of a stretch. It is really based around a deli counter. We had a cheese board, a meat board and shared pork pie and a sausage roll. All very nice but would have made a much better lunch. Drinks were very slow and there is no draft beer. Wine list is limited but reasonably priced.

There was someone behind the bar but they were studiously ignoring another couple who wanted a drink. Eventually, under direction from other customers, he went to fetch someone to serve everyone. We ordered 2 bottles of lager, a glass of wine and a cocktail which was supposed to contain elderberry but was actually made with lemon - we were charged £32 for the round. The bar is actually very cosy and pretty, but you cannot charge these prices with this sort of service.

Came for dinner - initially offered table by door which not an ideal setting but were moved. Decor and style made for very relaxed dining. We started with marinated olives, sourdough bread and some chipolatas in honey and mustard. The bread was great for mopping up the honey and mustard dressing and the olives were great. Then we shared a mixed meat/cheese platter with side of salad which we were told would be perfect for sharing but had we not had starters then it would not have been enough. Salamis were excellent as was cheese, but it was a little disappointing that the waitress didn't know what the cheeses were - she initially said the softer one was Brie which is was clearly not. Whilst talking about staff, they were polite but a little random. We ordered and then another member came over and asked if we were ready to order - this happend a couple of times. Cocktails were to die for - apple and rhubarb one deserves special mention. All in all a lovely settin for a chilled out end of the week dinner. I had lunch here with three elderly relatives, the four of us sharing a range of mild physical or cognitive challenges (both in my case, my wife would say). The staff were accommodating, turning the music right down when I told them the sung words were confusing one of our party, making enthusiastic recommendations from the menu and generally taking good care of us. We drank excellent cider and shared a 'piggy platter' at £10 - pea hummus, local cured meats, pork scratchings with apple sauce. I had smoked haddock, new potatoes and spinich with cheese sauce - the sauce could have been hotter, but otherwise a textbook version of one of my favourite 'comfort food' dishes. I'd have loved to try pudding, but not only was I the youngest of the party by over 20 years but also the most out of shape, so the opportunity was not presented. Nice place, fun decor, sweet staff - very good.

We had a glass of wine and a small bottled cider which came to £17.00, both were very pleasant but I have to say I feel that it was expensive for the establishment and location. Our first visit to a Pig hotel and it won’t be our last! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, even being met at the door from the car park. Our “spacious” room was absolutely gorgeous, a beautiful place to relax. The shower was one of the best I’ve ever had! Lunch at The Pig in the Wall was simple but delicious. The Land Rover took us to The Pig in the New Forest for dinner, lovely meal and again very friendly and attentive staff, my only criticism would be that the wine list was expensive, £33 for a house wine, although we did choose a bottle costing £44. Breakfast at The Pig in the Wall was simple, it was included in our room rate but I wouldn’t have paid the extra for it. All in all a lovely relaxing stay, and an experience that I highly recommend.

Fabulous. Everything. The room, service and food. So much so have booked 3 more stays. Great area of southampton. Lots of great pubs, bars and restaurants but you must try the excellent food at The Pig. Great place to stay if going on a cruise. Cannot recommend it highly enough. STAY.

A characteristic and pleasant place with a variety of different tables, chairs and armchairs. It is ideal for formal and informal meetings.

Took 3 friends on a walk around the old Southampton town walls and this lovely little place was a welcome halt on our travels. Very welcoming and comfortable. We only had coffees and a beer but the food looked delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Absolutely perfect hotel for a getaway. The room we stayed in was gorgeous, some of the old walls were exposed which was a nice touch. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, we felt very welcome. As The Pig In The Wall don’t have a wide range of evening meals we booked a take at The Pig in Brockenhurst which we were taken to and picked up via jeep, which is all part of the service and free of charge. Fab breakfast in the morning to. I highly recommend this hotel.

Not sure of the identity of this place. After visiting during the boat show it looked positively nice from the outside and clean on the inside but the menu is strange and all bottles. A bit arty farty for our liking but nice place to sit outside i suppose.

Nice pub and good priced beer. Standard beers on tap nothing fancy.

Nearest parking a distance off in side street and only small car-park. You'll be lucky to get a street bay outside, as always very busy road. Small Poppins compared to others. Clean, nicely laid out. Table service, and waiter arrives quite promptly on sitting down to take orders. Very reasonable prices, typical British and US meals, like the old Wimpy days. Pleasant staff. Food quality very good, fairly decent sized portions for the prices they charge. Can get busy inside.

Charlie was the best, highly recommend the social for drinks with friends. Definitely visit if you’re in Southampton :)
