Townhouse in Eastbourne

We have visited Eastbourne once a year for several years and always visit The Town House, partly because it was nearest our hotel but mainly for the music and vibe. In 2022 we found it quiet, in 2023 it was closed, albeit temporarily. This year, May Bank Holiday, it was open but quiet and no atmosphere. We'll try again next year.

This place is great. Good music. Nice people. Good security. No problems. The band was Bowie Music. Excellent.

New shopping centre struggling University closing and hospital moving chunks to Hastings Yobs everywhere with many poor and homelesd

When in Eastbourne we usually finish off the evening in the Town House as it's the nearest to our hotel. Normally very busy, occasionally with a (not bad) Karaoki. Unfortunately on this occasion, at around 9.45, it was very quiet, in fact the quietest pub of the evening. There was a group of 6 or 7 on 1 table only. So quiet that the pool table was empty so we decided to play. Around 10 we were asked to finish which we did within 15 mins and left. There were still 5 drinking at the other table and quite obviously not finishing off.

Just arrived, went into Amusement Arcades, feeling parched, found this pub, with an offer on many drinks during the day, a week day. Nice quiet pint and good value for money. Andy the landlord was nice

Went in with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon as there is a pool table and plenty of TVs for football etc. As many reviews mention, the regulars run this place - it's like The Jockey from Shameless. However everyone we encountered were friendly and not intimidating and we still had a good time. Place is in a great location in town but it's more than just a bit rough round the edges, the 'beer garden' is a bit of wasteland out the back with 2 biffa bins and an ashtray. Don't get me started on the toilets. Grim.

Worst pub I've been in for many years - with a low calibre clientele. All of whom were totally drunk - and doing their own thing, without interference. Undoubtedly the worst pub around (tolerating, it would seem, those unwelcome/barred elsewhere) - and worth avoiding at all costs. My visits were during the day (I returned to verify my initial view!), and the second team were worse than the first¡ Plenty of normal pubs nearby.

Only in Eastboiurne for 2 days and this became our very quick regular !! Manager / Owner cannot do enough for you, immaculate, very friendly regulars and great value for money - LOVE IT

My partner ordered a pint of lager and the barmaid came back with a pint of cider (table service due to covid) after he took a mouthful and realised, he returned it to the bar to exchange it. Seconds after she replaced his pint, the barmaid topped the cider up, added some blackcurrant and served it to the group at the table next us. I couldn't believe my eyes. All the track and trace in place and then does this. Mental.

Bar staff were ok they don’t really run it though it’s the handful of locals who do what they want that do. A couple of the blokes were alright but there was a BLONDE HOMELESS LOOKING WOMAN who drinks in there that tried to steal our dog. Be careful if you do go in there with a dog because of that but you’ll hear her fog horn of a mouth when you do so you’ll know to ignore her. There are a few good pubs further out of town to visit so don’t waste your time in this one!!

We came for a nice family weekend away to the seaside staying at the Premier Inn. Now we’ve been in some pubs in our time (we love a party) but we have NEVER seen a pub quite like this before. When we finally unstuck our feet from the floor at the bar and found an old creaky table, we tried drinking the beer from our dirty glass without it getting knocked over by the homeless looking drunks stumbling around everywhere. The glasses were dripping onto the table which created a worrying white liquid which was concerning. We drank our bleach flavoured Moretti quicker than we’ve ever drank a drink before (have won many drinking comps in the past) and darted out of there quicker than you can say class A’s (many of which are probably consumed on these premises). We enjoy our grime but prefer to listen to Stormzy rather than scraping it off of our glass. In times of Covid-19 after leaving here this is the least of our worries! P.s wish you could do minus ratings on here! P.s.s would love some some clarification of what this white liquid on the table was? P.s.s.s if anyone gets a call from track and trace let me know!

Step back in time here – an old-school pub that we used to know in the 1970s and 80s. Friendly barman, unadorned walls and slightly sticky wooden tables, and corned beef white rolls on the bar to buy. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that! It’s good to see that some pubs have escaped either the gastro route or the ‘olde-worlde’ Victoriana look. Although this pub did still have the original Victorian ‘public’ and ‘saloon’ bar doors in evidence, decorated with lovely cobalt blue (original) Victorian glass insets.

Went into this pub as was staying in the premier inn at Eastbourne.it was the worse pub in Eastbourne there was no atmosphere and only 2 other customers in the pub on a Thursday evening to watch the football.and the staff on duty are so rude and not friendly.if looking for a pub make sure to avoid this one it’s terrible.

So, yet ANOTHER NEW MANAGER. Yawn. Dawn no longer works there. Now that's stupidity. She was thw reason for going; the funniest, warmest barperson the pub ever had. Good luck going forward because her sarcasm, humour and actually caring about her guests was why my GF, me and our pals came. Looks like thw Windsor now for us. Drunk landlord and the only good member of staff gone. RIP Townhole. Enjoy the druggies she kept out with no management help. An honest bar bird gone. A weird alcy who sniffs (nerves or gear? Who knows) left.

A great find. Fabulously funny bar staff and excellent Guinness. It was lovely to find a proper 'pub' without the chain feel. A real mix of weird and wondeful locals reminded us that there is a community in eastbourne. Keep it up!

I met up with a friend this week in Eastbourne and we were looking for a pub for a drink. This was the first one we came across. We should have known not to bother with the landlord stood right outside the door chugging on a cigarette. Upon entering there were maybe half a dozen other people in there who by the look of things had been there all day as they were either barely able to stand or singing, shouting and swearing. Not exactly a welcoming atmosphere and quite intimidating. Toilets were disgusting and looked like they had not seen a cleaner this year.Needless to say we drank up quickly and left.

If you want a quiet drink DON'T GO HERE. We wondered why it was almost empty when other pubs were heaving - we soon found out. A small, loud, foul-mouthed group of local drunken yobs dominated the whole area, yet were still being served more...

Nearest pub to our hotel and hence is our first and last. During the day it is fairly quiet and after 9pm at weekends there is usually live music. Reasonable pricing and ale selection.

Been here a few times, always liked it but the last couple of visits it's gone down hill. Noisy rowdy customers, sticky dirty tables, etc. Not my kind of place now, better pubs in town for me!

Real pubs are hard to find in central Eastbourne. The Town House is on a busy road, but nice and peaceful inside with pleasant quiet decor. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have guest beers every week which makes it nice to try news brews....

Me encanta este lugar. Me pase casi todos los viernes aquí por el karaoke. Este es sin duda el mejor lugar en Eastbourne para karaoke ya que no hay pausas entre canciones enormes, así tienes más posibilidades de cantar y el DJ tiene incluso hasta canciones como no-Meghan Trainor y emociones baratas - Eis. Todo el personal del bar son increíbles y muy amable. Apoyo local y pop para tomar una bebida :-)

Although in the town centre one can have a quiet, peaceful drink during the day, even on a Saturday. Music starts around 9pm and is entertaining. A few reasonably beers on tap.

Lo que ha sucedido a este lugar!!! Cuando nos alojamos en Eastbourne antes de que los dueños anteriores y fue fabuloso. Volvimos este fin de semana, que ha sido tomada, el chico detrás de la barra parecía aburrido s #que #ess, lo que había eran peops un trabajo para obtener sirve porque no había nadie detrás de la barra la mitad del tiempo. El menú se ha reducido a una media docena de opciones, uno de los cuales es patatas fritas! El ambiente es horrible, es una pena, nos decepcionó ver que había tomado como una inmersión. El rock pesado en un bucle de tortura era molesto. El lugar necesita un buen apretón, lo siento chicos, pero no volvería.

Found this nice pub just across from the hotel. Staff very friendly and recommend locally brewed beers. Made 2 visits to here and both time made to feel very welcome and beers reasonably priced at £3.50 compared to our area. Worth a visit.

Lugar muy tranquilo y relajado donde una pinta de fosters fue 3.50 libras, amstel £3,60. Una ganga considerando el primer pub que probamos estaba cobrando £16.35 una pinta! Vale la pena una visita si estás buscando un lugar tranquilo, precios asequibles pinta a mediados de la semana.

Buscando en frente de pueblos en el bar que también estamos de acuerdo. Sin duda creo que la elección de la música era la elección personal barmans. Es una pena porque nos gusta mucho la decoración del lugar.

Mi marido y yo visitamos este lugar para cenar después de un día de caminatas en Beachy Head. El personal era muy amable, atento y acogedor y nos hizo sentir como en casa. Mi marido y yo teníamos una tarta pescado y patatas fritas y ambas eran muy, muy sabroso. Lo que más me gustaron fue el brownie que tuve para el postre, a pesar de que ambos estaban llenos después de nuestra comida todavía conseguimos terminar todo el brownie y helados. Gran lugar para una comida de pub tranquilo entre semana.

Fumar vape en la preparación de la comida, tenía un amigo detrás del bar cuando bastante lleno, así que hacer cola para las edades. Y en cuanto a la comida - diabólica. sándwiches de carne asqueroso que devolverlos como llena de cartílago. Ninguna disculpa, nada. sombría experiencia realmente.

This is a nicely decorated pub. Only stopped for drinks but service was good and although we weren't eating we did see food being served which looked lovely. Think the owners are quite new and hopefully will do well. Will definitely be back

Fuimos a la casa de la ciudad para nuestra cena de eficacia y realmente bienvenido por los propietarios. El servicio fue atento y el ambiente era muy relajado. Incluso tiene una mesa de billar de bar que hizo una inusual diferencia de las mesas habituales de la piscina. Mirar hacia adelante para volver en breve.

Popular pub in town for locals and tourists alike. Food available, pleasant atmosphere and karaoki nights for entertainment. Typically some performers were mediocre or mundane but also some were very good.

We were visiting eastbourne for first time come from essex and found the owners who were a couple very welcoming enjoyed live music at the pub on a sat enjoying live singer Keith hay an from 10cc also cliff Richards music director he was amazing on guitar it all added to a nice experience in east Bourne and will be back and to pop in pub next year on our visit yet to try a nice meal there.

We called in for a quick drink. A warm welcome and friendly service, a vast improvement since our last visit. A very personable young couple in charge and we will certainly try the food next time.

Acabamos de disfrutar de un gran almuerzo de los domingos en el Town House en Eastbourne. Los nuevos propietarios son encantadores y acogedores, y el asado el almuerzo del domingo era abundante y delicioso. Por £9.95 había una variedad de pollo asado, carne asada o una nuez costeleta, todo servido con una generosa selección de patatas asadas, parsnip asado, de color rojo y blanco, repollo, zanahoria y un flan ligero-como-un-pluma de puré de Yorkshire. Encantador para tener la oportunidad de disfrutar de un asado domingo almuerzo en el medio de la ciudad.
