Met with a smile and seated at a table near the window that had excellent views. We had Aubergine Gratin and a Hunters Chicken Schnitzel, both were hot and tasty, followed by the Honeycomb Domes. Would definitely go again.

Service very poor. It took half an hour to hear back about alternative options for allergen dishes. One of our tables in our party waited an hour and half after ordering for food to arrive. Very little updates on when food might arrive and no sense of being prioritised after mistake with submitting order by their staff was identified. Very stressful lunch experience overall.

6 of us for lunch, booked in advance. As expected, a very busy place in a popular spot and we had a short wait for our table. But we had lovely food and excellent service. Very atmospheric with amazing views across the South Downs and the cliffs. Great that dogs are welcome, and several people had dogs with them - all well behaved (owners and dogs!). Although a very busy establishment, we were not rushed or felt we had to hurry our meal. We had a really lovely meal and would gladly recommend and go back.

I stopped for a bite to eat after walking from Eastbourne to Beachy Head. I had the fish and chips and they were so very tasty. The batter was very crispy, just how it should be and so many places get it wrong. I had a pot of decaf tea to go with it and I was over the moon that it was Yorkshire tea! The best in my opinion. The service was good too. If I am ever in this area again I would definitely call in the Beachy Head pub again.

For a venue with a captive audience I was disappointed, First we were asked "had we booked?" the place was virtually empty, then when the food arrived the waitress didnt ask if we wanted any sauces so i had to chase them. The food was alright but i did not feel the fish cakes were as described (they did admit that they ran out of Hollandaise sauce) The sweets were nice but the dome was a littke bit small and couldve been more generous

We didn’t eat but had spectacular views and perfect pit stop for a long walk. We ourselves did a 16km walk along the coast from Eastbourne so was a good pit stop. Parking available. We found seating limited for drinks only as most tables set up for meals. Maybe just popular and busy location / time ! Drinks variety and cost very reasonable for the location. Toilets clean. A tad chilly inside- had to keep on our winter coats and only stayed for 1 due to the temperature. Would return and recommend. Dog friendly.

I booked a table for 11 at The Beachy Head for Sunday Roast. Unfortunately the beef and lamb had run out, although understandably as we could only get a late afternoon booking. We were ok with that though as the pork belly was magnificent. The trimmings were fantastic also. A couple of us had the sea bass which was given the thumbs too. Four of us were local but the rest had travelled from Birmingham, USA and Canada and everyone was delighted with the food, the generous portions and the service. Jan looked after us impeccably. All I would say is, if you can, book earlyish to ensure that you have a full choice. Having said that, the second choices were excellent. Great food, great portions and a lovely atmosphere.

Oh Lordy this place is coming downhill. The outside of the building is in dire need of refurbishing, the windows are rotten. The lack of care doesn’t prepare you for probably the most expensive wine in Eastbourne. We paid £21:10 for 2 glasses of very ordinary wine, enough you’d think to show the building a little TLC. That was definitely a last visit for us, the view is amazing but you don’t need to feel ripped off to enjoy it.

I can't give a star rating for the food as every time I have tried to eat at this venue I have been turned away. Simply stating we can't eat if we haven't booked, which if the pub was full I could understand. There was a large party in say a table of 12-14 approx and two more tables eating table of 2 and table of 4. There was noone to great us to seat us for ages and noone behind the bar either. Then when we did get service we were told no food unless we had booked. As we left out of curiosity I looked on their website as was able to book a table so could have booked and gone back in but why turn people away if there I'd available tables. We won't be wasting our time visiting again. Even if we booked beforehand. Eberytime we've been turned away for one reason for another the place has been almost empty so has no atmosphere. Shame as it looks to be nice inside.

Met with a friend over lunch, we ordered at the bar rather than table service and opted for a selection of starters to share. The food was lovely (one dish wasn’t very warm but still delicious). Service was good. There is however an infestation of blue bottles - we did move to a different table but it was no better there, so not particularly pleasant. Toilets need a makeover, they look grubby and the less said about the smell the better. So basically it just needs a spruce up and some fly killer!!!

This pub is in a great setting and has views from most seats. There is outside seating as well. We had to wait a very long time for our drinks, there was drinks ready but no one bringing them over. Some customers gave up and collected them themselves. Then the food took even longer, we must have been there an hour by then. It was just very average food, nice enough but not as hot as should be and the prices reflect the setting, not the food quality. The young lady was quiet and we felt sorry for her because she clearly had far too many customers to serve and had to deal with people moaning and returning cold food. We probably wouldn't go there again.

We walked in and waited to be seated, it wasn't too busy, waited 5 mins and then decided to just take a seat as no one had seen us. Staff member was very rude in moving us to another table. Ordered food, took quite a while to come, and it was just a few sides. Most of the food was so bland. The chips were about the only thing that was edible. Had to send the soup back as it was bland and had an unappealing skin on top. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything more than an overpriced pint with a fantastic view.

A pleasant day weather-wise and an exceptional view. Mum fancied a ride out so we headed here for a treat. Having mobility issues myself was nice to see disabled parking was as close to the main door as possible. Then i Basically given 2 bar menus on arrival told to sit in bar area then order at the bar. Which was quite difficult for myself as I walk with a cane and mum is 83 years young! Ordered a sharer starter of cambert with crusty bread. This was nice enough although I feel was pricey for what it actually was. Our coffees arrived with this, which we were looking forward too after a quite a drive. The coffees were cold, I asked the person to take them away when he came to clear our starter plate. He did kindly offer to replace them granted. I declined and said we would have hot tea instead. Then the mains arrived we both fancied the chicken with avocado salad. This was served and quite frankly was awful. Best part was it didn't arrive with the avocado. We had to show the server and he went and got 2 dishes of rough chopped avocado which was obviously pass it prime. This also seemed overpriced for what it was or wasn't as the case maybe. We Basically ate 3 or 4 mouthfuls then left the restrant to go and have a meal elsewhere. Total cost of the disappointing meal around £55. Restaurant seemed under staffed and the restroom facilities were shocking. Toilet paper everywhere and no soap in the dispensers. As I say view was amazing, but this was not for us and I personally wouldn't recommend to anyone, which for me is a first as there are understandably good and bad points in all places and I am usually pretty just with reviews.

I had a shocking experience at The Pier Hotel, Eastbourne, and I strongly urge others to avoid staying here. The entire ordeal was a nightmare from start to finish. When I arrived a little earlier than the 2 pm check-in time, the front door was locked, and there was a piece of paper attached saying it would only be open from 2 pm to 10 pm. This is highly unusual and unprofessional for a hotel. I returned at 2 pm and was greeted by a receptionist named Muhammad, who told me that the room I had booked—a single room with a bath—was no longer available due to “bad bugs.” When I asked if he meant “bed bugs,” he curtly corrected me but offered no apology for the inconvenience or lack of communication beforehand regarding this health hazardous conditions they were in. I reluctantly agreed to accept a different room, as there were no other options, but when I asked about their lost key policy (they charge £60 if a key is lost but no one will be there to collect my keys at the reception when I check out at 10am), the receptionist suddenly became hostile. He shouted at me, told me I could no longer stay, and claimed he would cancel my booking. His behaviour was completely unprofessional and shocking, leaving me stranded in Eastbourne and scrambling to find alternative accommodation at the last minute. The hotel itself is run-down and feels abandoned. The restaurant and bar areas are barricaded from outside with rubbish around and look nothing like the photos online. To make matters worse, after I reported the incident to the online booking agents the hotel falsely claimed that I refused to stay when in fact it was their staff who refused to accommodate me. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in or outside the UK. It is unprofessional, dishonest, and in terrible condition. I’ve reported the incident to the online booking agent, including photos to prove the state of the property. Avoid this place at all costs—Eastbourne is a lovely town, but this hotel will ruin your trip.
