We came here for a drink after work and as always it's a lovely place with quite epic views

We ordered by phone but after about half an hour wondered whether the order had been received. Went in and were told they were short staffed and it was waiting for us but there was no one to bring it out. We brought the drinks out ourselves but by then the tea was cold. We waited another half hour for the food but even then only some of it came.

It was like the typical lodge at a skiing resort, bustling with people coming off from the hills full of energy (or spent) from the hills nearby- but without the snow! (I was there in August). The place is large and offers seating area outside (picnic tables) - if it isn't too windy, on the sunny side - so, lovely; or, inside, in the, yes, quaint, interior that is a mix between a pub & restaurant. Be aware there are reserved tables, so ask before you sit down. The views from inside are breathtaking and the ambiance is lovely. The hot chocolate was just perfect which perhaps was a better choice over the Spanish red wine (they didn't have) I had first thought of.(They had plenty of other reds, just not from Spain). All in all a wonderful experience - if you can find the entrance door! 😂

We had a lovely meal , with great views, we were served by (Lilly) who was very friendly and served us with a smile nothing was a problem for her , a lovely evening.

Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience here recently. We were assigned to a table but there was a strong smell of chemicals and toilets in that part of the pub. When we asked to change tables, the manager wasn't very friendly. The food took a while to arrive, and the service wasn't great. This pub is in a great location, but didn't live up to our expectations on this visit.

Staff friendly. Food arrived after 45 mins and cold. Under staffing creates a very poor experience.

I recently ate there with my fiancé and my family. We really enjoyed the whole time there, the food was fantastic, fresh, the staff was really kind, especially the waitress, Anett who served us, was really sweet and reaally funny. I was really happy when I found out that she is hungarian, that I found a piece of home, thousands of miles away from Transylvania, she was so kind to us. We really enjoyed our time there, and we will return to this restaurant in the future, that's for sure! Congratulations to the team and also the manager!

Really nice location, great scenery. Food and service both really good. Both had signature burgers and they certainly hit the spot. Our server Anett was very friendly and attentive and helped add to the overall great experience. As frequent visitors to Eastbourne (we’ve eaten in plenty of pubs in the area) this is one we’ll certainly return to.

Wow, what an amazing bank holiday spent with the beach head pub. All thanks to Lilly who made our lunch a delight, she was so whitty and lovely to our whole table and made our whole lunch an experience not just a meal. It’s people like her who make dining outside the house worth it!

This is a lovely place to get away from it all. Beautiful surroundings, cosy pub and friendly, helpful and staff. Lilly was so efficient and made our whole experience a real pleasure.

Has to be the worst service and meal I have possibly eaten.... steak was over cooked . Got served our food then 10mins after we got our cutlery.. this place is a joke avoid at all cost

Service was decent but a long wait for tepid chips and hard peas. Been before and will go back just think it was the volume of customers today that caused the slight disappointment in the normally good food.

Visited after the Eastbourne airshow, the staff had worked really hard, you could see they were tired but they still delivered a good service. This is always a great pub or restaurant. Stunning views from the garden over the Downs or sea. Usually easy parking and Yorkshire Tea served, not PG cheap tasting stuff.

We went in for a drink and were served by a fabulous lady at the bar, on the strength of her friendly service we booked a table to come back for lunch with my mum. We booked the table for 3pm and arrived at 3 to be told by the guy at the desk that there were 2 people sitting where we were supposed to sit (they weren't eating) and we'd have to wait! We sat in the bar seating watching all the people who hadn't booked be seated immediately and then were told our table was ready. We ordered drinks - 2 halves of Guinness and a coffee. 20 mins later the drinks arrived. Our starters came and then we waited for our mains - lamb and 2 gammon steaks. We asked after 45 mins waiting where our dinners were. The guy went off and came back to tell us that as my husband had ordered lamb that held every up as its a 30 min cooking time. I said it may be handy to mention that when the order was placed to which he said "Yeah". The dinners arrived and the lamb - that was apparently just cooked was warm. The gammon steak was very tasty, but the chips and peas were warm. The waitress asked if everything was OK and my husband said "No" and told her the lamb was warm and not great considering it was £24. He said "Our table was booked for 3pm and it's now gone 4:30pm. She apologised and said that because we'd ordered starters that had put the times back. So I guess the lesson is don't order starters or the lamb! My husband asked for the lamb to be removed from the bill and she asked the manager who did remove it. It was such a shame as we only booked because the encounter with the lovely young lady behind the bar earlier in the day had been very positive. Unfortunately the greeting we received the second time round, the general service and food was not as good. On another note there were quite a few flies knocking about and the toilets were awful. There was no paper in the ladies and in the gents no handsoap. The urinals also smelt bad.

This place is absolutely lovely. We have been there recently for a lunch and the food was amazing. We waited a bit longer for the food but the drinks came very quickly. Our waitress Anett was so lovely and helpful, checked on us throughout the courses and she made sure to ask each of us if everything is ok. Very good service and I’m very satisfied with the experience.

We went for Sunday lunch. Restaurant was busy and Jan, our waitress was very efficient and helpful. she greeted us with a smile and left us at appropriate times. She was attentive, not overly. Great lunch and relaxed atmosphere.

Had lunch today but was met with a very lack lustre welcome, and a very disappointing salad. I ordered a main meal ‘greens and grains salad’ for £14.75 Butternut, roasted peppers were minuscule fragments in the dish, there was no pomegranate and all in all was a total rip off! Dressing was too much for the small amount of ingredients that made up the fish and was Left feeling hungry - not expected after paying nearly £15 and ordering a main meal. Such a shame as we had been to the sister restaurant at Cuckmere - the Cuckmere Inn and received lovely service and food but had ordered different meals.

Ask for a window seat if you can, for great views across the Downs. Food is your typical Vintage Inns fayre.

The worse food I've ever eaten. It must be said what a beautiful location. The staff are lovely and service is great however I ordered a steak sandwich, medium rare and it was terrible......the chips were cold and like card board and the ciabatta was stale and as hard as a rock.. .the steak was like it was hung out to dry in the sun on a washing line and grey in colour. I never complain but honestly I will never eat there again......everything is else is great but the food is terrible.

I recently dined and I must say, the experience was delightful. The food was simply fantastic – everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re looking for classic pub fare or something a bit more refined, the menu offers a great selection that is sure to please any palate. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. Our waitress, Lilly, was incredibly friendly and attentive. She made sure we were well taken care of and added a warm, personal touch to our visit. Her knowledge of the menu and her genuine hospitality made our meal even more enjoyable.

£4.70 for a pint of Doombar. Absolutely brilliant! Also free parking for bikers 😉

It's ok, bit slow but they were busy. Our food was just ok but maybe we didn't choose well.

Regretfully took too long to serve and one main course arrived with the starter and nearly an hour later the balance of the food arrived. Money was returned for two of the main courses but from now on I think we will give it a miss. Great shame as could be a great place.

Booked table for dinner. Clearly understaffed. Food was poor with a long 45 minute wait between our starter and mains. We saw other tables having to wait along time for food. We’ve been to other Vintage Inns where the food and service has been great. Was this just a one off….

Fish was good but peas mash was the most tasteless thing i have ever eaten in my life.very expensive

Nice birthday meal with family, Rib eye steaks were perfect, staff was very friendly & great views. Xmas dinner on 22 Dec 2023 saturday 6pm was surprisingly not too busy, menu was great, staff happy & friendly. Both times pleasently quiet. Bar has peroni on tap, or there's ales.

Service was exceptionally slow. Food was extremely over cooked. Flies were everywhere. The staff were lovely, we felt sorry that they were let down by the kitchen. We will not be returning. We had a full refund for all our food as it was inedible, hence the review price.

It's a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. Let down, though, by the food quality and slow service.

Beachy Head rescued us from a very wet and windy walk. So lovely to enjoy a nice meal in their cosy pub. Our waitress, Melissa, was delightful.

Took the grandkids ( 10 and 4 )here for lunch. When we arrived we hadn’t booked and waited to be seated whilst the greeter finished a chat with her mate. Shown to a table the pub was not that busy and then waited several minutes to be asked if we wanted drinks etc… The children ordered off of the kids menu ( garlic bread and chicken nuggets and chips ). I ordered calamari and aubergine parmigiana. I was then told there was no calamari or king prawns. I ordered sticky chicken. We then waited and waited for the starters, when they came they were luke warm but the chicken was ok although not presented that well. The garlic bread flatbread was tasteless. The mains were not much better lukewarm and both the children said not nice grandad, there were 3-4 big chips and cucumber cut in big slices. My aubergine dish was awful so bad I did not finish it. Now because of the long wait I am wondering if they had staffing problems in the kitchen. With drinks (2 beers and 2 apple juice) over £70 not good value, you need to up your game.

We had a lovely welcome from Callum and he sat us at a nice table window. Ther was a lovely breeze and atmosphere in the pub. It was busy, but didn't effect the service. We had a nice female waitress, she was vert attentive. The food was nice and we didn't wait to long. The young girl who bought our meals didn't know if the salad had dressing on it and offered vinegar ( she must have been seasonal staff, and very young) Desert was nice and the young waitress was very pleasant and wished us a good day as we left. Callum also had a chat with us on leaving and asked if we had enjoyed our meal. I think he may have been a manager, he was very attentive and asked if we wouldn't mind leaving a review. So here it is a promised.

Great food, spectacular views and lovely staff. Get the day tour bus tickets hop on hop off. The two buses circle back twice in 60 minutes last one is about 5pm- ish. Well worth a visit and walk after around the cliffs and dales. The village centre next door is nice and welcoming with amazing artifacts. Perfect for all age, colours and creed. A must do a must eat make a afternoon trip in beautiful location.

Great staff, we were served by the lovely Melissa, so friendly and attentative. Food is amazing, highly recommend the honeycomb dome for pudding. Setting is beautiful. Enough parking. Super dog friendly with water bowls to take to your table. Chips could've been a touch warmer but other than that all great. Very happy

We came on a busy weekend so expected a bit of a wait. We were advised of a 30 minute wait for food but it ended up being an hour. The vegetarian roast was really nice, but the fish and chips were cold. The setting is really nice and garden is lovely on a sunny day.

Took long time to get severed so ending up leaving takes to long as it's really packed no we're to park but on the good sif8there hop on hop off buses that run from Eastbourne and Brighton no idea of the rum from Hastings probably not !!
