Firstly let me say the staff were lovely & helpful. The food not so, dried out fish & chips (mushy peas, nuked yo beyond recognition), pork belly fatty (not cooked). Long wait for service.

Jan was our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. Food was very good and some lovely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc went down a treat I would definitely recommend coming here.

Appreciate its busy but put order in for our food was told no roast available but other customers were having it but had to wait 45 to 50 minutes for it to arrive wasn't hot Bacon didn't look cooked I ended up choking on the food No sign of waitress who took our order Overall very disappointing

Good pub food with lovely friendly atmosphere and staff

After a long hike, this pub seemed like the perfect place to unwind with some food and a drink. The space itself is huge and impressive, and at first glance, the menu looked sophisticated and promising. Coming from London—specifically Hackney, where fresh, high-quality pub food is the norm—I realise what I am about to say may be a tad too harsh. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to anywhere near my expectations. We ordered the arancini, soup of the day, prawn cocktail, and camembert. While the presentation was good, the taste was disappointing. The soup resembled Heinz, the arancini tasted like something from Lidl hastily heated in an oven, and even the avocado in the prawn cocktail seemed like it had been frozen and defrosted. The worst part, however, was that my friend, who had the prawn cocktail, suffered severe food poisoning symptoms afterward. To make matters worse, she saw a staff member drinking from a customer’s unfinished pint—something we considered reporting but ultimately didn’t, as we were both too exhausted to deal with the hassle. Overall, while the venue itself is lovely, the food quality and hygiene standards were seriously lacking. I have never had food this bad anywhere in the UK before. I wouldn’t return. My recommendation will be shorten the menu and deliver what is actually good rather than have ambitions you cannot achieve and make others suffer in the process.

Used to be a proper pub, but turned to be very overpretensously silly place, serving very average food. Very disappointing, avoid and seek other places

I ended up at the Beachy Head after a long day of hiking. I was trying to get back to my Inn in East Dean and the hostees was so kind and helped me order a Taxi. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stay for a drink but the restaurant looked lovely and had great views. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality and service! My next time in Eastbourne I will be sure to make a proper visit :)

Food was lovely, can’t fault it, Jan was lovely, each dish did also come out slightly wrong either not served at same time and a 10 minute interval so one was hot and one was cold or if we asked for it not to have something and something different for example no custard and icecream instead, given, not the end of the world but worth noting. But would come again

The perfect place to eat after a nice walk along the beach seeing the cliffs. Great atmosphere and stunning views. The food was delicious and the prices reasonable. Our waiter was Jan and she was very polite and accommodating. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to chill, eat and relax. The landlord Keiran was polite, attentive and very welcoming on our arrival. Wonderful afternoon meal with an amazing menu of choices. Made a stop for this pub after our hike but we were greeted with a sulking woman to sit us somewhere. We politely asked if we could sit somewhere else but the older woman left us to another girl who also ignored us and pretended not to hear us and would not make eye contact. In the end we understood the unspoken no but was disappointed with the failure to communicate this. It would have been understandable if they were so busy or that orders were flying back and forth but for whatever reason it was easier for them to be this way. I was looking forward to order their burger or the fish and chips which seemed delectable in the photos but after the delightful customer service from the two women, we decided not to spend an extortionate amount for an already ruined experience. We ordered some starters to get us through the long walk to the next restaurant but this were as mediocre and bland as their customer service. The funniest thing was the audacity to ask for a service fee for a shoddy service. In the end we left for a better restaurant experience elsewhere where quality of food meets congenial and warm hosts.

Been to Beechy head pub a few times, can’t go wrong with it. Foods nice, in a good location. Didn’t get a 5 star due to the slow service. Seems to be an ongoing thing the last few times we’ve been.

Very good restaurant, i have ever seen

Went to the Beachy Head tonight with my wife for her birthday as we had eaten here previously on Christmas Eve. The food was excellent but the service was sadly lacking. The waitress didn't smile once and although the place was all but empty we waited rather a long time for each course. We felt that it wouldn't have mattered if we were there or not.

The visit was awful. We booked for Sunday dinner specifically for the vegan roast, on ordering we were informed this was sold out, we then ordered the vegan burger and a meatless roast, the vegan burger tasted like a frozen breaded vegetable burger from Iceland and the roast potatoes were soggy. The only reason we booked this pub was because of the £10 off registration offer which we then tried to use but were informed the QR code didn’t work which meant we couldn’t use it?? We weren’t offered any compensation for this. The only nice thing about the experience was the waitress, thank you to her!

Excellent Sunday evening meal during a recent storm. Lovely staff, and impressive service despite quite a few large tables ordering food at the same time. Fish and chips, 10/10. And pie of the day, succulent chicken thigh in creamy sauce with a proper puffed pastry lid and the BEST veg - I would seriously be happy with just a plate of the roasted carrots and fresh greens - also 10/10. Thank you for allowing us to stay in the car park in our campervan as it meant we could enjoy your hospitality, and we’ll certainly be back.

The food is that of a classic Pub In terms of service, the people are very friendly but there can be quite a wait. The atmosphere is great, the view is magnificent, the setting is very warm and friendly. Dogs are accepted so it's perfect for a stopover.

Lunch Friday 31 Jan 25 Overall rating 6/10 Very disappointed with the Brie bites starter. Over cooked and as hard as rocks. Watercress completely wilted having been left under the hot lamps on the pass. Had I not been in company I would have sent them back. Lasagne main course was of an acceptable standard. But overall not a good dining out experience. The emphasis seems to be on selling drinks. Choose wisely if you ever venture there.

When we arrived at 1.40pm on Saturday 25th January we were told by a waitress that all tables laid with cutlery were booked, and we couldn't see - and we were not shown - any that weren't (though many tables were unoccupied). The reason this experience of being turned away was irksome is that AFTER we had been unable to get a table and as we were heading out the door, a waitress was taking a booking on the phone at the lectern by the main door and she then said to a colleague, "I've just taken a booking for a group of seven, we need to push two tables together". The staff really were only interested in folk who had booked or were trying to book, and had no interest in, or time for, us (and this in spite of the place not being especially full, with many empty tables).

Been 3 times since moving to Eastbourne from South London and it never fails to impress. Food is always delicious, staff are friendly and welcoming and on a clear day, the views are spectacular. And muddy boots and paws are welcome! I don't have a dog but love seeing them in there!

A really lovely pub to go to for lunch they do really good food here and staff are lovely and friendly and the atmosphere is very clean and nice and you get some great views out the windows of the fields dogs are welcome as well

I had only been previously in the summer sitting outside which was a while ago. We were very impressed with the beautiful inside. Lots of seating, lovely beachy head view and lovely surroundings with a fire. I had steak and my husband had pizza, both of which were very good. I can recommend downloading the vintage inn app as they do offers and on this occasion I had a 50% off mains which was excellent value. We will definitely be revisiting regularly in the summer and winter.

Stopped here for lunch before heading back home. Had two Sunday roasts and fish&Chips, food is great and full of taste, the staff is smiling and attentive even with a full house busy service. Definitely recommend!!

Was my second time visiting Beachy head as it enables diners with campers to park in their car park when dining . The venue is gorgeous with great views and cosy ambience . Unfortunately on our second occasion the food was of extremely poor quality . The first time we came we were told the soup of the day was tomato but when it arrived it was red pepper , the Christmas menu offerings albeit sounding delicious were very poor , the veg wellington was so small and dry with more veg sides than anything of substance . My fish dish came with lukewarm warm unpeeled broadbeans , which is just lazy , it was replaced but faired not any better and to make it worse both our mains arrived when we were still eating our starters . No attempt to even offer a free coffee , dessert or any discount on the bill which was quite shocking . The waitress mentioned she had asked the manager but he refused . He didn’t even come to see us . We wouldn’t come again or visit a vintage Inn establishment as previous experiences have left us feeling underwhelmed.

We had a lovely time here walking along the coast side in August 2024. It was beautiful with sea gulls flying and saw a few drones to in action. We did not eat here. We just had gone for sightseeing.

Our party of 6 was allowed to eat on an Sunday, despite they only accepted reservations, but the staff welcomed us. They gave us a seat in the bar area and the menu's. Whe we wanted to order at the bar we got the message that they didn't service in the bar area. And in the restaurant area they hadn't a table tot 6 available (they saw it in a flash!!!). So we had to leave with two very hungry children.

We went for lunch with my aunt, uncle and almost 3 year old yesterday, the food was so good and the lady serving us was so so lovely and we could see it was so busy but the service was still so fast and friendly! We’ll be back for sure :)

My first time alone on my 71st birthday dining out, 😒 i had the boxing day set menu at £36.50 The pate was nice but it would of been better with melba toast and some butter🫤 The sea bass was lovely but potatoes hiding under the sea bass were just a little bit over done☹️ Thanks to the manager Keiran who put me at a table looking out to the view👍 The espresso did not have a small espresso spoon🫤 Thanks for the experience Regards Christina

Went there on Saturday, didn’t stay long as the pub was really cold even though we were by the fire. The toilets were freezing, no radiators on in the gents and the water in the ladies to wash your hands was cold in the hot tap. Don’t think I would go back there until the summer.

Disappointing!!! My husband and I came for dinner it was nearly empty so thought service would be reasonably quick! We waited at least 40 minutes for our starters my husband had the prawn cocktail no flavour and over ripe avocado on the side a slice of toasted white bread with no butter!! Dry as anything!!! I had the pate was fine again no butter for the toast! We then waited quite a while for mains my husband had the steak and venison pie mash and veg the only edible part was the pastry top!! The chunks of meat were so chewy he had to spit them out! The mash had been microwaved so much it was tasteless mush and the cabbage was just soggy! Absolutely disgusting and costing nearly £20 they did take it off the bill! I had the fish cakes they were edible but as dry as a bone with a ton of boring new potatoes and over cooked broccoli stems! The waitress was faultless excellent service from her but the chef needs help I would rather have gone to McDonalds!!!

I came here for lunch yesterday with a few friends and the food was amazing. We were served by Callum, he made all of us feel very welcome and made sure to check that we were happy with everything. I would definitely recommend coming here and thank you Callum for making our experience enjoyable.

Mum and I had a lovely dining experience. The restuarant was very welcoming with lovely Christmas decorations. Lilly our waitress was delightful- so helpful and always smiling.

I have complained to Vintage inns about the service and attitude of lady short ish with dark hair,. They haven’t replied to me. I will be taking this further. I’m not going to repeat everything on here but we won’t be back. Upon reading the lowest reviews all the owner does is repeat how they are sorry people didn’t have a positive experience. Instead of actually trying to improve. Disgraceful.

We celebrated here after proposing. The view from the restaurant is beautiful and I ate here the best fish and chips of my life.

The location and view were stunning. The food was incredible, and veryreasonably priced. It's a shame that service was very slow but it was busy when we visited.

Jan was exceptional and patient. unfortunately, the fish and chips were cold, the cauliflower cheese tasted of plastic. overall none of the dishes were particularly hot and the Broccoli and parsnips were hard however, finishing on a positive note the meat, potatoes and carrots were nice

The restaurant is beautiful, its atmosphere is lovely. The service is absolutely good, our waiters were very kind and helpful. We had dinner there on a Sunday, so we ordered two Sunday dinners with one starter and two desserts. The starter and the mains were very delicious. I am sorry that the desserts were not too good.
