Town House in Doncaster

Used to go a lot. Standards gone dramatically downhill last couple of years. Decided to give it one last try. Asked for a pot of tea for two whilst we decided on food. The smallest pot of tea arrived. (Both teapot and milk jug were chipped.) couple sat next to us had a pot of tea twice the size, they said they also asked for tea for 2. Ouside seating looks cheap, and table very small, not what you’d expect for the prices your paying. Decided to give food a miss and went elsewhere instead.

Went for lunch. As many reviews have stated we had a long wait for our food but the service was prompt and friendly. Food however was nothing special. Beef cheek was way too salty, borderline inedible but having said that the meat itself was succulent and well cooked. Crispy pork belly cooked well but again too much soy, couldn’t taste anything else. Cod was well cooked and tasty. Chips were soggy and greasy and unseasoned. Onion rings were very nice. Decor was absolutely not to my taste - velour everywhere. Feels like being in hollyoaks or something. I’m not local to the area so I won’t be going back but not sure I would even if I could.

We visited Town House because we had been recently recommended. The service was poor and staff weren’t friendly or interacted with us . We had booked a table but had to wait . 30 mins starter came and had to send back as it was cold no apologies. Ordered coffee with cream scone . Coffee can no scone for 20 mins again plate just put on table no apology. We paid and at no point did anyone ask if everything was ok . Wouldn’t go again .

We dropped by for lunch the other day. A few of the tables were occupied. The decor is tired. The decor of the toilets is tired especially. It was very cold. The service, through friendly enough, was glacially slow. It’s £18 for a sandwich, without sides. Small portion of chips 4 quid. We had two small plates, 2 chips, 1 onion rings and 2 coffees. The potions were tiny. We spent over £50 and we were cold and still hungry. That’s a weeks shop to a lot of folk. That’s special treat pricing, not grabbing some lunch whilst you’re out prices. Maybe they are super well off in Bawtry? Disappointment abounds.

If you read my previous reviews I’m quite generous in them . This establishment is an absolute disgrace . Taxi to venue for reservation ( 9.30 am on the day) arrived at 13.50 for 14.00 Sunday lunch. The place is virtually empty ( which says it all ) but they have ‘sold out’ of Sunday lunch. Top tip .. don’t go .. and top tip to the owners .. let someone else run it .

Had booked a table for Friday lunchtime but needn’t have bothered as there were plenty of tables inside. The staff were friendly & the food was lovely. I had the halloumi & red pepper ciabatta with sweet potato fries. The food & wine are a little overpriced but typical for Bawtry. Would definitely visit again.

10 of us went for a birthday party.ni can honestly say, excellent food and experience. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was great definitely go again.

A wonderful restaurant, fabulous atmosphere. The food was impeccable. Staff are extremely helpful and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend it. We’ll be going back very soon and sampling food on an evening with a few drinks.

Me and my friends came here for a birthday meal and I have to say the food was so good. Not only was it presented amazingly, it tasted amazingly too! Good portions and definitely worth the price. All the staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome and although they were busy they still remained professional and were very polite! I highly recommend and I can't wait to keep going back as I hear there breakfast and lunch menu is just as good!

popped in for a coffee, but could not resist a bite after seeing and smelling the food go out. the service was amazing with the staff not been able to do enough for us. we will be returning for an evening meal as the fizz friday offer defintley caught our eye

Hi, three of us went there for a late lunch. The decor is fine, maybe a little over the top. We was shown to our table and ordered our drinks and food. The drinks came in around five minutes but the food took forty five minutes to arrive and to say there was only two other couples in I believe that forty five minutes to be along time. I had a BLT which I have been having all over to compare around the area. You can talk all you like about artisan bread etc but it needs to taste good and this in my opinion was average. One of my friends had the crab sandwich and said it was nothing special.

Went to Bawtry for Birthday lunch ordered 2 fishfinger sandwiches (asked for the bread not to be toasted , that didn't happen) and 2 hot drinks . Sat outside the music was terrible loud and not good quality ( the waitress noticed it and asked me if I wanted turning off and I replied yes please) . We got our sandwiches but had to wait for the cutlery (started eating it with our fingers) still no drinks .Asked at bar for a glass of water and asked about coffees , she said the girl was making them . Finished meal still no drinks. Went in again saw the waitress ( who was the helpful person ) said she hadn't seen a Order ,manage told me the Internet was down ? and the drinks would be out in one min.Music was put back on at this point . Went to pay at the bar ,the lady said the price and the manager shouted over to say the drinks where free. The bar lady went on to ask how come and where having a conversation with the manager ( should not happen in front of customer) I found it rude !!! Will not be going again .Spoilt my birthday lunch

The service here is always slow but today the town house excelled it's self. I started to phone just after nine to book a table. Tried a few times. Let it ring to cut off point. No answer. Drove 30 mins to get there. It was open,didn't appear to be busy. Only one couple outside, couple of tables occupied inside. Asked for a table outside to be told we could have no cooked food as they were too busy. We left. We will be too busy to return. No doubt covid will be to blame.

1st time visiting this restaurant, great menu selection. Food was lovely. Staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning.

Went for Father’s Day amazing service slight wait but the staff were very apologetic, first class service and food was amazing highly recommend, if you like steak it’s the best fillet I’ve had first visit will definitely come back again.!

Disappointing evening. No staff in masks. Customers not encouraged to wear masks or sanitise. Table next to toilets so there was a steady stream of people (many of them drunk) squeezing past our table all evening. Food ok but despite having pre-ordered, starters took over...

Staff friendly, interior attractive, food average. The menu is interesting so maybe we made the wrong choice for us, nothing particularly wrong with it but nothing to inspire a return visit. However the fizz Friday sounds very appealing !

Food very good and service fantastic! Really nice meal. Can’t recommend enough, been in a few time’s now, for both breakfast and dinner with cocktails.

First time i've been to the Town House since reopening and it was fab! The staff we all super attentive and really accommodating. As we were celebrating one of the ladies Katie really went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience! Will be returning very soon and i can't wait!!

Absolutely awful, would never go back to this place. Entered the tea rooms to be shooed over to a table in the bar area, sat for 15 minutes whilst nobody acknowledged us or even gave us a menu just got stared at by the staff like we was an inconvenience. Would not even attempt to go back.

Called today with my sister and her 5 year old Granddaughter. Asked for our meals including a small child’s portion of pancakes and a small glass of milk along with our Adult meals and drinks. The meals came and a very large adult portion of pancakes arrived for the little girl who looked petrified at the size of her plate. The waitress(supervisor thought it was funny). We asked her to take it back and take some off. It came back with 1 pancake. Much happier little girl. Your chef needs to learn how to poach an egg. It had no runny ness to the yolk at all it was like having a hard boiled egg on my plate. I ent to pay the bill and was astounded to find I had been charged £3.00 for a child’s glass of milk and £8.00 for 1 pancake. When queried £4 was deducted off of the pancakes. What a rip off. £7. For 1 pancake and a glass of milk. Certainly won’t return in a hurry. Waitress had no personality. Obviously a change of staff and not for the better

Booked a birthday lunch to celebrate my daugther's birthday. Easy to book and specify that one of our party was vegitarian. No problem. We were seated on arrival, despite arriving early. Cosy, traditional atmosphere, but doors had to be open for ventilation in these times. Good social distancing measures, excellent attentive service and a good choice of food - even though the staff said it was a reduced menu. I can recommend the scallops (quite spicey) and Thai green curry (mildly spiced). Both were light on the stomach for us ladies so we decided to have dessert. Although I don't usually manage a sweet, again there were good choices available. However, it was then a case of 'eyes bigger than our bellies' so unfortunalely I couldn't finish the homemade cheescake - very filling. We will definitely visit again and I can highly recommend this restaurant.

We went to the town house this morning for breakfast, The first time we’ve been out since lockdown. Looking forward to some child free time for a few hours. We were seated straight away and our orders taken drink served no problem. After waiting an hour we asked about our food only to be told that they are sorry and would take 50% off the bill. No real reason for this. After a further 20 minutes the waitress came to the table and said that she was unsure when the breakfast would come and basically advised us to just leave. It was very very strange, no reason given and seemed that they had no idea how long it was going to take after a hour and half to cook two breakfasts? We left but really disappointed that we wasted a morning for nothing. If you can’t deal with the volume of orders stop taking them!

Me and some friends visited after having a day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the food was excellent, this is the second time iv been and the food was always top class, great service, lovely atmosphere, will always recommend Town House to friends, and will be visiting again :)

Visited today with a friend. Waited ages for order to be taken. Then over half an hour for food.The order was incorrect and very disappointing. Eggs and toast were cold. Toast dry as no butter on it or served with it. Had to leave food as inedible. Previously to lockdown food was amazing and no complaints. Staff pleasant and friendly. We were not charged but sad to leave hungry!

Back open - and superb!Bawtry is beginning to open up again, and The Townhouse are a fine example of everything good in Bawtry. Had a superb fillet steak lunch, chilled Pinot and great service. Stuffed to the brim springs to mind. It’s been a bad time for restaurants but The Townhouse is back to the quality restaurant it always was

Sunny February day and able to sit outside. Quite a busy place, food was good and tasty. Friendly staff, good service, prices a bit more than I usually pay for a sandwich and coffee but it was good. Nice menu.

Myself and my daughter came for an impromptu lunch and had the best sandwich we’ve ever had, the fries and salad on the side had so much detail, we would definitely recommend this place

We had a lovely lunch today at the Townhouse. Thai curry followed by Bakewell tart to die for! Excellent food and service. Coffee was especially good. Nice ambience. Definitely be back.

Just been for breakfast and catch-up with my sister. Had a disappointing visit a few months ago but decided to give them a second chance. Glad I did. All new staff. Very attentive and polite. Our waitress was Emma made us feel very welcome and had good knowledge of the menu. And seemed to have a good rapport with customers. An asset to your restaurant. Chelsea brought us our drinks and was very polite. The food itself was delicious we both had a small breakfast. Lovely food in lovely surroundings Would definitely recommend

Visited in December and it has the potential to be so much better. There was only two staff covering front of house, booking and serving a full lunch time restaurant. It meant that we had to wait nearly fifty minutes for the main course and saw several couples walk away whilst waiting for a table and who weren’t attended too since the person who was front of house was also trying to serve food.When the food arrived it was surprisingly ok. Nothing special, but fine. However it wasn’t worth the long wait.

An amazing night, can not thank the hard working staff enough. Lovely prossecco with superb food! Definitely would recommend to anyone that likes great atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and quality food. Best place in Bawtry!

My mother in law entered a competition in Facebook for a meal for four at town house. From the moment we arrived the service was fantastic couldnt do enough for us. As we had never been there before we was a little skeptical but the evening was amazing staff was helpful kind and nothing was too much we even had puddings which yet again was amazing we will be visiting again to try the other meals avaliable as all is hand cooked and presentation was also outstanding felt very homey. Thanks again for a fantastic night very pleased highly recommended 10/10 x Lynsey (Retford)

Something seems to have changed here, not least of all the music.We've used this place for many years, and there had always been classy and unintrusive background music. The last few times that we've been, it's been not unlike walking into a high street fashion boutique with modern chart type music blaring out. It demeans the whole experience, and has knocked the Town House off the top of the perch as to the Go To place to take elderly parents or visiting relatives for a relaxing and classy afternoon meal.

The Town house bawtry has a lovely location, especially on a summers day - people gazing. I’ve been here numerous times for a coffee or pot of tea and it’s reasonable. However, I went yesterday and ordered 2 x pints of Diet Coke and 1 x coffee and it came to £13.00. Absolutely disgusted in these prices - I don’t mind if you’re in 5* luxury as you expect to pay £5.00 for a coke but not in Bawtry and especially not at a place that isn’t 5 star.

First visit here. Menu was quite expensive and had to wait to be seated, no one was at reception to greet us. Restaurant not too busy. Decided not to eat but the coffee was good.

I had the duck on the menu and it was delicious.It was the first time I had ever had the duck and it was amazing. We had bottomless prosecco and it was certainly good value for money.

As walk-in lunchtime customers, first impressions are important. We could have picked spots on either side of The Townhouse, but a couple leaving give it thumbs up so in we go. The gentleman behind the bar is apparently the recently appointed manager and he gives us a warm smile, while a young server shows us to a table. Our drinks arrive quickly. We settle for comfort food as the day is dreary and cool; fish and chips for BW and bangers and mash for me. Both are generous servings and excellent and equally importantly arrive quickly and hot. We enjoy a leisurely lunch and the new(ish) manager comes over to ask whether we are enjoying our food, and stops to chat. We have excellent latte to finish and leave well satisfied.

Very disappointed! Booked online for mother’s day and got an email confirmation to say everything is set for 10:00 on 31.3.19. I turned up on the day and got told that I needed a telephone call to confirm this. However it said nothing about this in the confirmation email or on the website! The gentleman that dealt with this issue was very rude and abrupt with no signs of an apologetic attitude! The miscommunication is less of the issue rather than the way it was dealt with by members of staff which has left me very dissapointed as this is somewhere I often visit and never in the past have I had to have a phone call confirming my confirmation as well as an email. I was told this was due to it being mother’s day so my advice to the townhouse is to work on your comms!

Met here with the family Excellent choice of food available and when it came it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. We were asked several times if we were ok and were made to feel like royalty....More we must try on the evenings ! All fresh food with a quirky menu very cool and the family liked !

Called in for lunch with my partner and 2 friends. Service was okay but I found the food tasteless. I had chicken and pesto sandwich which was supposed to come with thrice cooked chips. My husband had burger with thrice cooked chips. We got poor quality oven chips and although my partner enjoyed his burger, my chicken was dry and tasteless.We didn’t like to complain as our friends had travelled a long distance to visit us and we decided to eat out in Bawtry, we just made the wrong choice of venue. Eaten here many times under previous ownership but won’t be returning

I went to the Town House yesterday morning for breakfast with my Mum and baby Son. I haven't been for a while with living at the other side of town. The decor was lovely and cosy. I am currently breastfeeding and asked for a more private table and so the lady who greeted us sat us in a booth /table that was very private and I felt at ease. The waiter that served us brought me a glass of water as I was feeding. I didn't ask for it and I thought it was a wonderful gesture. For all the breastfeeding mothers you will understand how much this meant. When I had to feed my son again the waiter brought me another glass of water. I can't say how thoughtful this was and how much it meant. I will definitely be going back again! I will also be putting the word out especially for those breast feeding Mothers that get a little anxious about doing it in public. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was amazing ! Thank you very much

Came for brunch with my husband. Only took a few moments to be seated. We were seated at a used table but the dirty crockery was cleared immediately. It was however not reset.

Visited The Town House on a quiet Saturday night for dinner. This place is completely lacking in direction. Why bother opening for dinner if you give people a lunch menu, it doesn’t take much effort to produce a dinner one if your food is fresh and locally sourced as is advertised. Staff inexperienced - no table checks, no offer of a refill drinks, no management. A g&t; was served with no garnish and with the whole bottle of tonic poured in.

Called in Sunday morning for brunch...The food when we got it was very tasty. They did get our order wrong but made up for it with some free coffee and tea. However, the décor is looking very tired and needs some attention. The gents toilets are like a run down pub, no toilet seat. A nice place nice food, but in desperate need of some TLC.

Just off the main car park is the Town House which looks like a usual cafe - but no , it has an excellent menu , reasonably priced and efficient and pleasant service and is far above that which we expected. The food is well presented and prepared and is obviously a firm favourite with the locals. In particular , the mussels and sea bass lunch meals were excellent and the desserts ( Dark chocolate creme brulee and Brownies) would ruin a diet just by looking ..but a long walk round the village would help work it off ... Highly recommended

Now I have eaten here before and experienced the SO SLOW SERVICE but Sunday was ridiculous took 15 mins to get a coffee. My husband then ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich. Well the small sandwich arrived very greasy in nice bread cut in half but the whole thing could have fit on your palm..fingers not included..with space. 2 bacon 2 slim sausages. Well when the bill came 5.95 for the sandwich and 1.50 for the sausages. That's 7.45 for a greasy small sandwich that took an age to come and at that time we were the first table and there was only 4 tables in total. Even the table rejected 2 incorrect orders twice. What's happened...bad service...no value for money..greasy food. Will not be going back..sad as it started so promising

Eaten here many times in the past, but I believe it has changed hands since the last time I ate here and it shows, I've never been this disappointed with the food or the service before. I ordered the Scottish Smoked Salmon Gourmet Sandwich, sounded nice but I failed to see what was Gourmet about it, 2 slices of thick sliced white bred, (I ordered granary but the order was wrong!) toasted (but cold), with a scraping of cream cheese, some cucumber and not a lot of smoked salmon, the salad consisted of a few wilted salad leaves and half a tomato accompanied by coleslaw and chips (decent but not the best I've ever had), this cost me £9.95. The waitresses were okay but not the friendliest I've ever encountered and I was perturbed to see that the girl that served us had massively long painted nails which I found inappropriate for someone serving food. All in all a disappointing experience, don't think I'll be going back in a hurry.

Having visited on 3 previous occasions, 2 very poor and one complimentary meal, we decided to try our luck again - after having an 'ok' complimentary meal we decided to call for breakfast on Sunday 27th May. Despite Luke the General Manager replying to my poor review previously and a subsequent complimentary meal given, the breakfast the other Sunday was poor once again. Hence, despite the appreciation we gave to a meal on the house so to speak, the breakfast on the 27th May was disorganised, slow and once again my order being incorrect. My order was taken from one of the older members of staff this time.

My wife and I called this morning for 2 cappuccinos and 2 bacon sandwiches. The lady took our order for the 2 sandwiches on brown bread and the coffee to be one with skimmed milk and one standard, the standard, extra hot. The coffee came lukewarm and very weak and the server couldn't tell us which was which? The bacon sandwiches were on white, poor quality, toasted thick bread with margarine and the bacon itself was extremely fatty, low grade and under cooked. The bill, with a small bottle of water, came to just under £19.00!

looking forward to our visit to this establishment as a treat for my wife we were bitterly disappointed with both the service and the food, after ordering our food fish and chips for me my wife had sausage and mash we also a pot of tea for 2 to be served with our food, after placing our order we waited over 30 minutes for it to arrive we had one visit from a waitress to apologise for the delay

I very rarely give a poor review on Tripadvisor as I don't feel the need however... In the case of the Town House in Bawtry I feel obliged to.

This place has a lovely setting in Bawtry and a position overlooking the square. We arrived for a breakfast outside only to find tables full and some empty with reserved signs on them. We still wanted a drink so we sat inside at the open window bar overlooking the outside tables. Had two lovely drinks whilst watching people turning up outside, ignoring the reserved signs and sitting at tables. If we’d have known we could have too. Needs a clear policy on what is reserved and what isn’t. Drinks were lovely and would definitely go there for breakfast in the future .. and ignore the reserved signs on the best tables.

Visited for early morning coffee. Ordered a small cup but was served and charged for a large. Didn't mention it as the coffee was good and I put it down to a one off error. Lady at next table then experienced same, she was also charged for a large coffee but had ordered small and after mentioning received an apology and charge altered. Toast was fine. Service was quick.

Having been regulars at The Townhouse we have had a couple of disappointing visits. Went for breakfast today and hooray it seems to be back on track! Friendly, polite staff, good cappuccino and fantastic English breakfast and eggs Benedict. Well done we will be back for more!

Visited here with my husband today for breakfast (Easter Monday). Firstly, there was no description of the two omelette's offered on the menu, whereas the rest of the menu lists all the items, the omelettes for some reason do not, hence I asked the waitress...

Dreadful experience. We decided to call in for brunch just before midday. After being shown to a table by a rather offish and unfriendly front of house woman, she advised us that she would be back shortly to take our order, she never bothered returning. She showed more customers to other nearby tables during the next 20 mins. After that we decided to get up and just leave. There were lots of other staff around who were more interested in clearing tables than taking orders from waiting customers. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

Great looking place, pompous staff and one waitress with attitude, dressed in jeans. Got our order wrong and accused us of actually ordering what she bought... then it transpired that they changed the order as they had run out of what we wanted. Would have been nice to have been asked!

Met a friend here for lunch. The food was good, a bit on the pricey side, but the place was absolutely freezing, and I mean Baltic cold. Every person in the place had their coat on. Based on this, unfortunately I probably won't return, unless I drop on the 1 day of summer we have.

we visited today, it was a very cold day and as we walked inside there was a heater over the door, giving the impression the place would be warm, however the whole restaurant was very cold, the radiators luke warm, even though we sat next to one we couldn't remove coats or scarves, such a pity as nice place, food was good, and we would have stayed for deserts but were too cold, and we had to wait ages for server to bring us a desert menu, we had to go to counter to get bill, as we needed to get out of the place, finished our meal with coffees and deserts elsewhere

We’ve been here many times over the years and, based on Saturday mornings, it’ll be a while before I’m back. Aside from the stained white tablecloth and the dirty and empty sugar bowl, the right hand didn’t know what the left was doing when it came to hot chocolate availability. My “fry” was ok, even though the rashers of bacon were burnt ...! Disappointed.

Unable to comment about price or standard of food as the restaurant refused to seat and serve me and my elderly mum because I am dairy intolerant. This is the only local restaurant we have been to so far that has taken this stance. I cannot believe when they prepare food from fresh that they couldn’t do a dairy free meal e.g. steak and chips/ salad/ jacket potato etc. Anyway, left restaurant highly embarrassed and went next door, who were not phased at all and served us a delicious meal.

My partner bought me a £50 voucher for the Town House in Bawtry as a Christmas present. The first problem was the time validity of the voucher , it was only valid until the end of February!! Please beware of this if you buy a voucher! As I had to have a serious stomach operation around the middle of January it didn't give me much time to use the voucher. Nevertheless I booked a SPECIFIC table for myself and my partner on a Saturday night at 6.15pm. The restaurant I believe opens at 6pm. We were really looking forward to it as we had been to the Town House many times previously for afternoon scones and drinks when it was run by the previous management and always enjoyed it. We arrived on time and was taken to our table. The table was unprepared and wasn't even set and had to be set whilst we were seated. The menu was very limited and we both ordered the cannon of lamb. Cannon of lamb to us has always been a SOLID piece of lamb fillet and we were looking forward to this. The music being played was loud and intrusive and was not condusive to a relaxing meal. As they state they cook all food fresh , we expected a wait for our dish. Surprisingly our order came out relatively quickly and there is no way this was cooked to order. Particularly the lamb which was presented to us as SHREDDED lamb in a small stack!! CANNON OF LAMB? The portion size of everything was very small. The lamb was also very dry. We were so disappointed. I felt trapped in a way as the voucher had to be spent here so we had to use up the £50 value. We just wanted to use up our £50 and leave. We ordered two desserts to use up the money and my partner realised it was a massive mistake to buy a voucher from here. The service was very amateur. The mens toilet wasn't serviced properly , paper towels just stacked on top of a dispenser and the toilet bowl unclean. We didn't even think to complain as we just wanted to leave. I don't know who has taken over here but the high standards that the previous management consistently had , unfortunately have completely gone. Other restaurants in Bawtry were very full that evening but most of our evening here , we were on our own. Probably says it all really. Very expensive and poor.

8 ladies for a friends birthday greeted with excellent service and a glass of prosecco with a strawberry. Sat in snug and got three plates of lovely hors d’oeuvres...quiche, crayfish cocktail & salmon.

Popped in for a couple of coffee’s and a chat with a friend, it’s a lovely warm and welcoming place. I was sad to have just eaten as the deserts looked amazing. Coffee was nice and the service was good. I will be going back for food very soon!

We travelled to the Town house after arranging to meet friends for a bite and coffee.

My mother and I go here often now. It's great. Good quality food lovely surroundings.... gets busy on a Saturday booking is essential.

Not the cheapest place in the world but the hot sandwiches we had for lunch were very tasty. I can recommend the bacon and Brie. Generous portion of well cooked bacon with melted Brie. There were no complaints about the others either. Nice salad to accompany the sandwiches. Watch out for the parking warden, he is very sharp on overdue tickets.

Must be the greediest and most shortsighted town council!! I have never been to a metred car park that charges after 6 pm. Just greed by the council to catch unwitting visitors like me. Even the attendant told us its the only one he knows of. No wonder all the restaurants were half empty on a Friday evening, and the car park only half full. Will never go to Bawtry again on principle of feeding greedy council coffers...ridiculous.

Excellent lunch, really tasty fish finger sandwich and quiche. Quick service too by friendly staff. Will go again.

Town House is a very pleasant place for lunch in the high street of Bawtry. Service was prompt and excellent and the food and coffee good. Of particular note was the cheddar and broccoli soufflé.

Visited here yesterday with my little girl while my son was on a school trip to austerfield . Enjoyed a breakfast and a few lattes . Staff were wonderful nothing was to much for them . Everything very clean and lovely atmosphere will be coming back again for the lattes

I went to the Towhouse yesterday for Afternoon Tea dor my Mum's birthday. The food was delicious. The cakes were some of the best I've ever had (the Bakewell and Cheesecake pieces) and what a gorgeous environment. The people behind us were having fish and chips and so there is definitely a wide menu choice here. Will go again.

After much confusion between the young waitresses we were sat in a dark corner by the toilet entrance. We were given a menu when we sat down. After 15 minutes of waiting for a drink order to be taken we gave up and walked out.

We called for a late lunch today and only after ordering was the music turned on a deafening levels . A waitress came over before we could comment and said "we now have a hen party sorry ( or perhaps not) if the music bothers you " . It was 3.40 pm on a Saturday so afternoon tea time. She walked off without waiting for a response. In addition the BLT is now designed for Desperate Dan rather than anyone who cares about their clothes. We were also sad to learn that the excellent head waiter has moved on suddenly ( we don't believe allegations unless someone can defend themselves). My strong suspicion is that this place has changed hands or they have totally lost the plot.It was helpful to know before spending anymore hard earned cash here that some customers simply don't matter. We won't be back.

Waited for an hour to receive our breakfast until we walked out explaining to my 6 year old son why he wouldn't be getting his breakfast..

We used to visit the Old Town House years ago for sunday lunch, it was wonderful. We have eaten there over the years and through the transition to its present re-vamped restaurant format and called for a meal recently. I have to say that we were delighted with the food and standard of care and attention to detail. Lovely big generous salads, my prawns and salmon salad was lovely and fresh and really tasty.We ordered the fruit meringue dessert, it is something we used to eat at Town House years ago and could not believe the meringue was just as delightful, we were told that the lady who makes them is still in the kitchen and using the same recipes! It was reworked and beautiful (see pic) with lots of edible glitter too. Drinks are good and not too expensive.Very pleasantly surprised at the re-vamped Town House. All it needs now is lots of customers so it doesn't feel too empty!Highly recommended.

My wife and I went to the newly revamped Town House in Bawtry for dinner last night. It is under new management. My wife had sea bass and I had green Thai curry and for desert we shared a huge fruit meringue. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were attentive and contributed to the experience. We will be back soon to try more from their varied menu.

We called for lunch. Sadly there was no quiche left although the waiter didn't mention this when giving us menus so neither if us hot our first choice. The fish and chips were lovely and o was the seafood salad. Generous portions and very well presented. However as soon as our plates were removed from the first course we were asked if we wanted a dessert. We thought this was too quick as we wanted a leisurely lunch. Definitely would return to try the quiche

We had breakfast with friends here following a wedding we attended in the area. We sat outside in the sun and the food was beautiful. My husband had the large full English which nearly defeated him and that's saying something. I had the eggs Benedict which were absolutely delicious. Service was great, facilities were great (superior baby changing facilities) and staff were all really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and return when in area visiting friends again. Great spot for people watching too :-).

Arrived today after walking around bawtry and asked to sit in the restaurant, unfortunately this was not possible but we sat in the snug and had a lovely breakfast, everything was cooked beautifully and the front of house chap was apologetic and accommodating, the waitress was a little lacklustre however this did not taj t our experience. Overall a lovely breakfast if a little on the expensive side.
