Eden Arms in Doncaster

Visited the Eden Arms with a group ranging from 3-80. Everyone enjoyed their food especially the beef roast. Dining area we a little chilly so lost a star

Sat by the fire and it was lovely. The service was excellent, especially from the young red headed lad. He recommended the mixed grill and it was lovely, chips were hot and the steak was cooked perfectly!

Came in for a wake, which we had the silver buffet and was brilliant. Couldn’t fault Laura at all, fabulous service! Would definitely recommend

Waited a very very long time and the starter (soup) came out the same time as the main course

Family of 5 dropped in to take advantage of the 'kids eat for £1' deal. Service was quick, portions were very decent and food was above average for pub grub.

Quite at the time of visit and food tandoori skewers served cold...peas cold and chips undercooked so not great really..pint was nice however.

Great food, but it took far too long to come out about 45 mins and then 30 mins for dessert

Great local pub with fabulous staff. Agree food could be better but get this is the standard set by the chain.

Only things wrong with this hole are the poor staff especially the munter with no neck. The ping meals are like eating elastic bands. service is very poor. If you need to powder your nose its freely available.. Lately we have been going to the Glasshouse. if you had to give them marks compaired to each other the glasshouse be 9/10 the eden arms would be struggling to get a 1/10 but there is a subway down the road. We used to spend a fortune in here but no neck has helped us save a fortune

Bar staff are always lovely. The young girl who brought out dinner was really nice, I think she’s fairly new. Food was fab. First time I’ve eaten here for a few years. We do visit for drinks weekly. Such a lovely environment particularly now it’s been refurbished.

Had a gin and tonic. The tonic now comes out of a pump. It's flat and stale. Food - ordered pie and mash and got pie and chips. The pie was actually rather nice. Would I recommend? No.

Had a lovely meal with our grandchildren, they really enjoyed the tomato pasta and garlic bread. The Gobi dhanska curry was very nice and fish & chips lovely. It was busy but service was very efficient.

I was a little concerned reading some recent reviews however this is my go to place when visiting Doncaster and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. Visited on Wednesday. Tables were clean as was the cutlery . We were asked about allergies. Husband doesn't have any however he does have particularly likes and dislikes where food is concerned and these were duly noted. Food was lovely hot and tasty. I had the sausage and mash and hubby had scampi. The wait time wasn't to long . Staff were friendly and polite and we did get a check back to see if everything was ok. The refurbishment looks lovely and I will definitely return

Nice refurb, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff & food was good although they only had 1 of the meals we chose. Had a starter instead. The coffee & mini puds were great.

Really disappointed, one of our group of 6 was a vegan so went because of the vegan menu, we picked out what we wanted in advance, however the menu was reduced as it was a Sunday. I wish we'd left but we didn't. Vegan curry I was told was was quite nice. 4 of us had a roast, which was disappointing. Frozen roast potatoes, dry rib of beef, no mashed potatoes, and a small portion of veg, not sure why a menu needs to be reduced to serve up frozen roast potatoes. We all left a lot of the roast, won't go there again. I would have disputed the bill if I hadn't paid in advance, but couldn't be bothered with the hassle. The food is reasonably priced but frozen food really!!, why ?

We were visiting relatives; as were out of town and went for a meal there last night. The food was excellent 5 ***** I had the shepherds pie; which was out of this world as it had meat pieces instead of mince. It was very tasty with cheesy mash on top. The cheese was just how I like it, baked on top, which was yummy. My Daughter had the Chicken burger and chips and she ate it all. Tony had the sausage and mash. He said it was very nice and ate it all. We ordered a couple of sides, which we really didn’t need because the portion sizes were great. I couldn’t eat all mine, so Tony finished mine off. Then we finished it off by sharing a brownie, which was also very nice. The food presentation was excellent. Would defo be visiting again. Service was great, food was excellent. Compliments to the chef/s who made, cooked the food and to the kitchen team. Also love the decor. Highly recommend. My only regret is that, I didn’t take any photos of the excellent food. xxx

Visited here twice within the past month (since the refurb). Live local so would be great to find somewhere consistently good for food to visit regularly. First time we visited on a busy Wednesday night. Hadn’t realised it was quiz night (our fault for not checking). Had a long wait for food - roughly 45 minutes but accepted it was really busy and the food when it arrived was lovely and plentiful. We had halloumi flatbread and some dishes from the pub classic menu. Also really enjoyed the convenience of being able to order on the app. Due to the positive experience we visited again on a Sunday evening. Much less busy so was hoping for quicker service and looking forward to trying something different from the Sunday menu. Unfortunately the wait this time was even worse despite the pub being approximately only 1/3 full. We waited 55 minutes for food to arrive. When it did it was also quite disappointing and there was no apology or acknowledgement for the long wait. The steak was really fatty, gammon was served as huge thick, very fatty slabs with probably only 50% actually edible and the roast potato’s were hard, cold and clearly straight from the freezer. The stuffing was lovely as was the Yorkshire pudding but overall it was really disappointing. It’s such a shame as a good quality Sunday roast could be such a draw for this pub but I just don’t think it hits the mark. No one checked on us during our meal to see how things were. We had also ordered some desserts at the same time as the mains (was advised on the app to order together with mains to get the advertised discount). When we chased the dessert a waitress told us we hadn’t ordered any as they hadn’t come through to the kitchen and so I had to get out the email receipt etc to show I had which was also a little frustrating and would have been embarrassing if there had been people sat next to us. The staff we did interact with were polite however it was just a disappointing experience overall. We will give it another go (not on a Sunday as didn’t enjoy the roast at all) but I think the wait times for food either need to be improved or it should be advised on the app or by a waitress at the time of ordering that there may be a lengthy wait. This would help to manage expectations. I think most people would be happy to wait if they are pre warned of the time and receive a good quality meal when it does come. As a positive, the interior of the pub looks lovely following the renovation. Really hope they can work on the issues with food service times as it has such great potential to be the best pub in the area.

After not eating here for over 2 years, even though I live under 250m away. I will not be again for a long time if ever. Poor service, long waiting times, small portions and massively over cooked food. Oh and being pointed out we had only been waiting 57 mins when I suggested it was over an hour. This pub used to have a great reputation for food especially the grills/steaks. The pub looks great after the make over sadly the food and service have not altered. We did recieve a full refund and an apology, unfortunately at 8:30 pm when we sat down at 7 and ordered at 7:17 is not good 🤔🫣😮‍💨

After not visiting the Edan Arms in excess of two years, even though I only live 250m away ! Due to poor service, poor food, long waiting times and smaller and smaller portion size. I thought myself and family would give it a try due to it being under new management and after an overhaul. Wow what a mistake 😕. Ignored at the bar even though I had been seen 2 or 3 minutes early on a couple of occasions. We ordered on the app and the one starter came out within 10 minutes. Garlic mushrooms that had definitely been cooked at least 2 if not 3 times and only just edible. The mains took 57 mins to come out, so I was pointed out by the manageress when I said one hour !!! Two of the meals were steak, one medium an one medium rare. They were both massively overcooked, a small portion of peas, burnt Tomatoes and overcooked onion fries. Extremely disappointed as this pub used be famous for its food especially the steaks etc. We did get a full refund but that's not good at 8:30 in the evening when we sat down at 7:00 and ordered at 7:17. In future I will being use the glass house in Kirk sandall 10/10

Staff were lovely, although we did have to wait to order food as there was no chef (one had left before the evening staff had arrived). We weren't given the chance to order drinks while we waited, the bar staff wandered off to phone the kitchen staff to find out how long they would be. Food was lovely and recent refurbishment was nice. Still the same layout bilut a nice refresh.

Not been for ages as reputation wasn't great previously but the food was lovely this time, the pub in general is lovely & we had a great time. It was just very hot. Need to invest in air con or at least ceiling fans. We had the Eton mess pudding to cool us down.

The first time we’ve been here for Sunday lunch and we were a little disappointed. We were met by friendly staff and were warned that there would be a 30 minute wait for food. It appears that there was only one waitress on duty, who was doing a grand job seeing to our side of the pub. When the food arrived, one order was wrong but that was quickly rectified. The mushroom and spinach Wellington was apparently really tasty, but the Sunday Duo was really unappetising. The chicken was a chicken leg with a piece of backbone attached(?) and the gammon was extremely fatty and sort of thrown on to the plate. I came away hungry which is unusual for a Sunday Lunch. It seems like a really friendly local pub, where folk gather to eat - I’m sure our experience was a one off. For us the atmosphere was spoiled by an extremely loud family, who kept shouting at their child, but that is not the fault of the pub.

We sat in an area that seemed to be for dog owners, we don’t like dogs where we’re eating, would have been better indicated so we could sit away from them, there weren’t any dogs there when we sat down

I took my mum for Sunday lunch. Just moved to the area and it's just around the corner so thought we'd stay local. It was one of the worst Sunday lunches I have ever had! The roast beef was not at all what I was expecting. It said rib but I had assumed you were roasting a forerib and it would then be sliced but no, it was just two small bits of fatty meat around 2 ribs. The roasted vegetables were under-done. The cabbage was just a pile of large leaves and looked very unappetising. The roast potatoes weren't roast potatoes - they were deep fried potatoes. I'd had a busy day and if i hadn't been so hungry, I would have walked out. I won't be going again and I won't recommend it to anyone. Very very disappointed.

Food ok nothing special waiting time was ridiculous what was supposed to be a quick birthday lunch took 2&half hrs no explanations for delay and no one checking food when it did come out was ok

The pub has just had its refurbishment and it looks absolutely stunning, the food was amazing and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Needs lots of work on their systems. App wouldn’t accept our table number, we were told it should be all systems has been updated to then be told it only went to table 86, we were 88. The food took 1 hour 25 minutes with my friend’s meal coming out over half hour earlier than the rest of us. We were told we would have received emails saying food orders were delayed as they were bust but we hadn’t to then later told they hadn’t sorted the system to do this yet it was still being worked on. The food was bad to mediocre. Was meant to taking my mum next week but not going to bother just yet, will wait till hopefully everything is running smoother.

Nicely and newly decorated inside, great value for money and a comfortable friendly environment. The food was lovely and I do recommend trying the Cajun fries!!

The Sunday roast is really good value and great tasting food, was really impressed. Most recently my Mum had her 60th birthday family get together at Eden Arms where we had a buffet menu and reserved seating for 3-4hours. The food choices were good and everything was warm & fresh tasting. The sweet potato chickpea falafel were particularly good! Also the Chipotle chicken bites were 👌🏻😍 the staff are nice, nothing is too much of a trouble.

Pleasant pub good varied menu pleasant evening meal. No coffee due to broken machine which was a shame as no small dessert and coffee options available and no alternative offered to replace.

This was a nice pub to stop in and have a Sunday roast at. Ordered the gammon and chicken roast with veggies, mash, gravy and yorkshire pudding. Also got the battered mushrooms and the brownie dessert. Everything was delicious and I greatly enjoyed the meal. Would definitely come again.

There was a party of us tonight 10 adults 10 grandkids, catered for everyone beautifully, food excellent, big uptick for the staff because some establishments can be funny with lots of children but it was a great night. Well done Eden Arms. Pre booked and pre booked meals, brilliant

Typical modern pub with a good selection of drinks. Extensive menu but I had barbecue chicken which was overcooked and dry.

Had checked reviews before we went and they were not the best. However we could not fault the service, the food was hot and tasty, can recommend the Gammon and Lasagne. Will definitely be returning.

Went for a late lunch, staff have been really helpful on the two previous occasions I've been here before on swapping veg. I asked for Mediterranean veg with my sea bass instead of new potatoes, I expected peppers, tomatoes etc and got Kale, leeks and peas, which I couldn't eat and left, not the Mediterranean veg I expected. I queried this when my food arrived at the table but was told it was under the sea bass, I thought it was wrapped in the kale. Biggest part of my complaint is lack of staff at this time about 4 30 on a Monday as when I went to the bar to query this I had to wait for the one member of staff to take food out to customers, whilst my food went cold, not the barmans fault, he was doing his best. I was finally told after the barman asked kitchen staff that Kale etc was the Mediterranean veg on the menu, this isn't the normal perception of Mediterranean veg (I don't doubt it is Mediterranean veg). no offer of replacing my Kale with veg I could eat. I returned to my table to eat my now cold sea bass and asparagus and went home hungry. Fifteen minutes later at 5 pm staff were stood around doing nothing. Another point is that I have asked if they stock another low calorie drink other than coke, I was told no on 3 different visits but noticed on this occasion that according to the menu they stock low calorie lemonade, the barman said the only lemonade they stock was on draft and couldn't say whether it was diet or not , again not his fault, you don't know what you don't know. Disappointing visit, shame as the two vegans in my group were really impressed with their food.

Poor !! food was tough over cooked and cold .staff were ok I suppose I orded mixed grill and stipulated no tomatoe but my food came with a giant one which put me off straight away..no-one asked if we had any food allergies and no staff asked if it was ok. 1 our of 10 . Won't be coming back ...

Total shambles of a Sunday dinner. Restaurant was busy, kids running freely around tables and was clearly understaffed. Most tables had used glasses or plates on them including the table we had to sit at. We ordered at the bar, the lady said the food would be at least a 40 min wait. Waited for 55, our table was served and the food order was wrong. My wife started hers and I waited a further 10 mins. Once served the food was very underwhelming, small portions, overcooked. Driest chicken I've had in awhile. I would of complained but no one asked to see if our food was okay. Eat half, and left, again, no one said goodbye. Poor.

Very nice...and very reasonably priced. Staff very helpful. We had met friends from out of town (we travelled from North Yorkshire and they'd come from Derbyshire)...very pleased with our choice

Called in for lunch after shopping. I was surprised how busy it was. A good selection of food on the menu, reasonable prices. We had a while to wait for our food but meals were being constantly brought out. Staff were friendly and accommodating. When I asked for extra gravy to come with the meal, after ordering, it arrived with no prompting and no extra charge. Wheelchair access is through main entrance, booking available and dogs allowed.

The meals were fantastic. Well worth a visit if you want quality food at value for money prices. It was very easy to book and the offers available are worth exploring. Use the Ember Inn App for ease if you are that way inclined.

Great staff, beer and food. Nothing was too much trouble. We had New year's day lunch and the food came hot and delicious. Care was taken for our lactose intolerant family members. Everyone enjoyed the lunch.

Booked here for New years eve approx 3 weeks ago ,even calling in two days before to confirm the table booking & to make sure they were doing food . Turned up at the allotted time (6:45pm)to be told our table had been cancelled & the kitchen closed !allegedly they say they e mailed me ,but I never received any notification at all ,shocking customer service,clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing !

Oh no! Have you seen all the negative reviews on many face group pages. Please put this right!

Went for New years Eve ,booked a table 3 weeks previously and even called in two days before to confirm ,turned up at the appointed time to be told our table had been cancelled and no food was available, shocking customer service !

Sadly I have deleted my previous review. Yesterday, December 17th 2023, my wife and her grown up children, their partners and grandchildren arranged a booking for lunchtime. Deposit was paid and orders placed in advance and the family travelled from as far afield as Newcastle, Scarborough and Leeds to see their mum/grandmother for the first time in 12 months. On arrival it was pandemonium with only two harassed staff members trying to cope with a pub full of people. After over an hour the starters hadn't even arrived and after complaining were told the general manager hadn't arrived and one girl was in tears because she couldn't cope. The family ended up walking out after two hours with no food, everyone hungry and heading for McDonald's or home. What a waste of everyone's time, petrol etc and what should have been a happy family get together was totally ruined by the ineptitude of Ember Inns. Everyone has stated that they will never be going there ever again. If possible we'd give it zero stars. What a shambles.

We were really disappointed in the food after waiting an hour for it. The hunters chicken meals were cold and not worth the money. Nice drink selection and it a warm and cozy pub, so would only visit for drinks in future.

The food was yummy and staff was friendly it was a lovely afternoon/ evening for a date night with my partner I love the fact they also listened to my special request and taken in to mind my anxiety

Shocking. Went for the breakfast with santa and was waiting over 1hour 20 min for food and drinks. Didnt even fetch little ones fruit shoot over while waiting. Stood at bar (nobody else waiting) more than 5 minutes waiting to be served for a juice while 2 staff just completely ignore me. If you want to be hungry and thirsty then this is the place to be. And they cant even do scrambled egges instead of fried eggs even though you wait all morning.

Breakfast with Santa was great this morning! The best Santa by far -walked round and spoke to every child. The staff did very well considering moany individuals who didn’t have any patience or understanding. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and served hot -worth the wait x
