Nice large pub. Always quiet and roomy. There are offers on food during the day. We usually call for a quiet drink. It is a big venue with plenty of space.

Very nice helpful staff . The hotel is nice but a little dated and could do with a refurbished in the rooms.

Google doing the usual thing of confusing a restaurant and hotel. Food nice, lovely veggie lasagne. Only saw one member of staff {Mark} and he was very friendly, pleasant and helpful.

Staff was great, room was basic although comfy bed. Downside - having to use fire door for entrance and exit, the area was full.of rubbish and smelt awful, the door was open constantly so anyone could have came in. Didn't stay for breakfast as walking past the rubbish put us off, plus couldn't get to the restaurant area to eat as interal doors and main door locked, only managed to get in as a person was leaving through a conservatory door. Great location for where we needed but probably wouldn't stay again

Amazing food. Friendly staff. Room was basic but comfortable enough. Room layout could've been better, when lying on bed, had to turn to see TV which was a bit uncomfortable.

Overnight stay. In Thorne for a family party Saturday 28th October. A pint of larger cost £5.50. Stair case and hallway carpet needed a good hoover. Stayed in a Twin room. (room 3) Poor quality mattress. Mattress protecter on only one of the beds. Very thin sheets, almost transparent! Poor quality pillow. No hot water when I tried to have a shower at 7am. Later around 8am noticed hot water present, so managed to get a shower before breakfast. The breakfast was poor. One tiny sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg 1 hash brown a spoonful of beans and 3 mushroom. 1 piece of white toast served on top! The breakfast was greasy. There were help yourself cereal & tea /coffee, before the hot food. If you wanted orange juice you had to ask! There were a few guests due to a wedding so had a wait for more cereal bowls & cups. The price of the room B&B £81 we thought was reasonable. If we stayed again we wouldn't stay for breakfast, and I'd take my own pillow.

One night stay on Saturday 28th October. The whole hotel, bar and restaurant had an air of neglect to it and didn't appear very clean especially the stairs leading up to the accommodation. The room we stayed in was less than acceptable. Toilet seat broken, taps not big enough for the bathroom basin, shelf above the basin missing but brackets still on the wall and toilet tissue rammed in the door spy hole. Also no hot water but we do accept that this can happen occasionally. One good point was that the bed was comfortable and also the staff were very friendly and accomodating.

Good and bad, food good staff friendly now the bad room not up to scratch broken draw on bed bathroom door sticking handle falling off which I fixed bath panel falling off, bathroom radiator not working ,no hot water and i mean no hot water coming out of tap from 22 .30 till 7.30 warm water coming out off cold tap needs some money throwing at the rooms

Called in here for some lunch as passing through Thorne. Although it was a warm sunny day and plenty of seating could be had with parasols we sat inside in the lovely conservatory. The seating area outside was clean and the hanging baskets on display very impressive! Our meal orders were taken and drinks served by a helpful, jolly and courteous barman. All meals had were delicious, ample portion sizes and well presented. Our table was visited several times to make sure everything was ok and it was. The leftover pizza that someone had in our party was very kindly boxed up for them to take home. All food and drinks were very reasonably priced and the place had a lovely atmosphere. Recommend having something to eat here and a drink and look forward to returning one day.

Great food and a good night sleep very accommodating as had to leave early and miss breakfast so made breakfast sandwich for me to take away would stay again.

First time coming, had vegetable lasagna and a meat lasagna, both were homemade and were absolutely delicious. Would definitely come again!

Best pub by far in Thorne, will definitely be returning, will become our new local pub not that we go out drinking often.

The drinks and service was good, however after getting into the room...the sight of it was decent, however the weird smell hit and decided to look into the draws. Top draw was a crinkled bin liner, a good amount of cigarette ash and a spanner. Second draw was a large amount of dust, dirt and some tissue/toilet paper. The bathroom was at a good size however the toilet seat was made out of some sort of squishy foam - not sure if cleaned. Looked at my friends room and in his top draw was a half used packet of hair loss pills... After letting the assistant manager aware he went up to clean the draw. The food in the morning was great despite only having 1 member of staff cooking and serving. Overall shan't be sleeping there again and don't recommend anyone else (unless the rooms are cleaned after a new guest) (no money was offered off) Overall was a great wedding do but the rooms let it down a slight.

Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy, £10 for a panini cooked on the radiator at best! Cold canned tuna, bread not even grilled, honestly ridiculous Avoid at all costs

Decent stay for one night, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean bedroom and bathroom, bed was quite small but comfortable enough.

Booked this hotel based on the reviews. How disappointing. Arrived at 12 on Saturday the young lad was brilliant, so friendly and helpful. However when we got to the room, underwhelming is an understatement. The stairs up to the room was dirty, dead flies on the windowsill, not a welcoming look! Once in the room, the hot tap was constantly dripping. Opened the drawers and they fell apart. We went out and on return at night went to close the curtains, they fell down. No one available to speak to, granted it was 23.30. Come morning, went to make a brew, no idea what came out of the kettle, it was disgusting. No brew! Breakfast was standard, all deep fried, not very enjoyable. Spoke to a female member of staff about the issues we had, who replied sarcastically 'nice' no apology. Also found a spare key for the room which was on top of the wardrobe, to be told it had been missing weeks, not sure how that could be if the rooms are being cleaned? Overall really disappointed. Will not be staying again!

The bar staff were amazing really efficient and friendly , but the food was awful , 15 of us booked for my grandaughters birthday .there was only 2 choices steak and kidney pie or sunday dinner. So most of us ordered sunday dinner . Choice small £8.99 or large 11.99 beef chicken pork choice of 2 meats .ive never been to a pub/restaurant with such small meat portions . When it came it was dry and curled up like it had been left warming in the oven , not much difference in size between small and large meaning even the large was a small portion. The cabbage wasnt cooked , mash was crusty and the yorkshire and stuffing balls well you definitely had to be careful not to chip your teeth . There were 15 of us and we all spent a lot of money in there on beer as well as the food . It was such a shame as we definitely would have gone back if the food would have been good , they really need a decent chef who can actually cook a decent meal . They did offer us some celebration chocolates on a plate 😂 but am afraid this just didnt cut it . We did complain but the chef / manager didnt even come out . She left it to the poor barmaid to deal with . She was so lovely and it wasnt her fault . It was the responsibility of the manager/chef . Really really disappointed and dissatisfied. Lovely pub just dont have a meal there .

Quite an imposing pub with several large rooms, 2 having large gas log fires. Ambience was good, and manager and staff friendly.

Thorne needs this pub to succeed and the present manager and staff are giving it a good go. Food excellent staff likewise . If you live in the area get out of your armchair and support a local business Tony & kath

We had our works xmas party here on 04/12/2021. The Punchbowl catered for 40 of us with a great selection of Hot and cold food which was tasty and plentiful. The whole experience was pleasant and hassle free. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Free chocolates and trifle shots were provided which was a nice touch and something you remember! Dont all rush and book your 2022 xmas party as we are first in line! haha. We stayed two night room very dirty all round. Shower mouldy. Corridors dirty carpet threadbare in places. Only breakfast served. No food or dinner available for the rest of the day. Bar closes at 9pm. Staff friendly.

The Punchbowl is under new management. After seeing this in the local paper we decided, as locals to give it another try after previously being disappointed by microwaved meals. Tonight’s dinner was fresh, home cooked, nicely presented. The service was excellent. We would highly recommend...

The hubby and I decided to call into The Punchbowl Inn for a Sunday Dinner, so glad we chose here and look forward to a return visit soon.On entering the establishment we were given a warm welcome from the lovely lady serving behind the bar. The Old Mill beer recommended was had by hubby which he thoroughly enjoyed as was my glass of Chardonnay. We chose a table and the lady who had served us very kindly brought the drinks over. When asked to see a menu we were told that unfortunately this was limited at the moment as new managers who we found out to be called Anna and Kris had only just started a few days earlier. This was not a problem for us and on viewing the menu there was ample choice of meals and desserts on there. We both chose a Sunday Dinner, hubby having the beef and I the turkey.Our table was laid by a very friendly, courteous and smartly dressed waiter who introduced himself as Sunny. It was a pleasure talking with him and he came to our table several times through our meal to make sure everything was ok and also if there was anything more we needed. Our meals were brought out I am pleased to say on warm plates. Although we had chosen the small size there was ample on the plate and it was beautifully presented. The roasted parsnips tasted gorgeous as did all the other vegetables. The homemade Yorkshire Pudding was great as was the stuffing balls and pigs in blankets. Hubby said his beef was lovely and tender and my turkey was moist and delicious. The gravy was served in a separate gravy boat, this was thick and delicious and it was no trouble when we asked for some more. We both had the apple and blackberry crumble for our desserts served with custard which was delicious and totally mouthwatering! Our compliments must be given to the chef for the wonderful meals and desserts we had.We had another drink after our meal and a pleasant and friendly chat with the barmaid. We later finished our drinks sat in some lovely large comfy chairs around a fire, which was very relaxing.Everything about our visit to The Punchbowl Inn was excellent. All food had delicious, well presented and reasonably priced, the drinks were great too. All staff were friendly, smartly dressed, courteous and helpful and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere. New menus we were told are to be brought out including on them a homemade pizza and a pint offer! We look forward to a return visit here soon and we can highly recommend calling in here even if it is just for a drink.

Went to the Punchbowl for a meal and a couple of drinks and found out that the pub has changed hands - the new managers Kris and Anna were exceptionally attentive and kind. they are actually working really hard to change the reputation of the place!

I had my wedding here so I’ll give the good before the bad. Fantastic selection of food we received. Now the bad.. firstly after three managements came through the place while we were booking our wedding and having to go in three different time to explain to them all what we wanted etc we finally settled on everything and everyone was happy about it. We booked a room for the night before also which we paid for including breakfast (which we received) and paid for the package wedding, that included the room decorating and breakfast the morning after the wedding. This is where it gets fun!! A few days before the wedding I was informed they might not have my colour in for the tables and chairs so I had to go out and pay for a room decorator (who did a fantastic job) but still extra money we had to pay, for something we should of got in the package, the night before the wedding we turned up and went down to finish putting the finishing touches to the room, we walk in to the young girl behind the bar and the lad from the kitchen rolling round like animals in the middle of the reception room for them both to scurry off and not even apologised. Wedding day comes around and the manager wasn’t going to let my make up artist in so she almost left. Had our wedding which went very well and without any hiccups. The morning after the wedding we got a knock on the room door saying ‘we wasn’t entitled to the breakfast (which we’d paid for) so if we wanted to eat we’d have to pay’ so I went down and asked why as the lady rudely left the room and she said ‘because of the 3 different managers they were out of pocket’ I asked my mum to bring all the receipts to show id paid for the extra room but she didn’t want to see them so paid for the breakfast again once we’d finished she couldn’t wait to get us out the door. We went to thank her and say goodbye (I don’t know why though) and she just sat in her chair and said ‘leave your room key on the bar’ absolutely horrendous staff and management, very rude once your wedding is over and done with. Best thing about that place was the cleaner who was very lovely.

Called today with a friend for lunch...only a handful of customers in. No staff on view as we arrived . We sat down chose fromnthe menu then went to the bar to order. Only one staff member on site apparently so we were told he couldn't say when he would be able to get any food to us...as he was the only person working.

For a change after a long break we decided to pay a return visit to the "Punch Bowl" which is, I belive, under New Management. The atmosphere was friendly (not something I could put a finger on). The pub was quiet, 2 people chatting by the bar and a waitress (if thats not sexist. Can't be to careful these days) There was a chalk written specials board (2 for £10.50) covering the ususal staples but we decided to order from the rather, I feel, restrited menue. There were 3 real ales (Snaith brewery) and a selection of beers and lagers. The food was hot and of decent portion size served in a pleasant manner. I think we wlii return possibly for the Sunday carvery

We came here today for tea with 2 grandchildren .we looked at the menu online before we came and it sounded nice.when we got there no one was available for 5 minutes.we then placed our order only to be told it weren't on menu because the place was under new management. So what we got was ok but grandchildren didn't like theirs.i don't think we will be back .

We never liked this place before but thought we would give it a try as it's under new management. We like it even less now and will never visit again. It was a family visit and the food we ordered was simple sandwiches off the menu. After a 40 minute wait the food arrived. My 3 year old grandson pointed out to my wife straight away that she had a caterpillar in her salad. I took the meal back and the response from the waitress was "wow well spotted" and that was it. Not even an apology. She returned 10 minutes later with another sandwich but still no apology. The other members were also not happy with their food. Calamari tasted like battered rubber. After all this you would expect a decent establishment to remove the bad item from the bill but no, we were charged full price. This place has really gone down hill fast.

I wrote a review a while ago regarding this pub; It wasn’t a positive one. However I have now visited the place since new management took over and things have turned around immeasurably.

I have to say we have been in this pub several times over the last few months and the new management are amazing. Great food friendly atmosphere except for the review below. We were there on the same night as the lady below and I have to say I do not agree with her review! She went around all the tables complaining including ours and made her self heard what she did not realise is that we heard them say she was going to complain before her food came so she could have free food! The only reason the atmosphere was ruined that night is the sound of their ridiculous loud laughter trying to ridicule the bar staff! How the bar staff kept their cool was beyond me. The phone the bar staff were looking at for a second was my husbands ie entertaining the clientele. The way she spoke to them was utterly disgusting in my opinion I am glad she isnt going back let another establishment suffer her self opinionated raff! Good riddance. You got a refund with in minutes. And below the menu clearly states with toast and not ciabatta! And my calamari on the same night. Sorry punchbowl but had to say something.

Affordable, fresh cooked meals and a friendly team! Loads of beer on draft and a very good selection of bottled drinks. Will be returning when next in town!

My daughter and I popped in on the off chance for a bar snack, hoping that the change of management had improved since the last one!

New to area but we now have a great local. The new owners and their staff are friendly and helpful. Food is great and at a good price. Clean and well run pub so guessing that the hotel is exactly the same. Look forward to more drinks and meals here

Just called for a quick tea while granddaughter was dancing the lady behind the bar was very helpful could not do enough for us even when she brought our tea she was very attentive we both had scampi and chips and peas when it came it was well presented and very hot will definitely go again

Ridiculous prices! Staff were rude and a waiter was so stressed she was talking to us about leaving when she comes back on holiday! Waited 20 minutes for lasagnas and the chips took another 15 minutes. We ordered 1 scampi and chips which took us by surprise because it was a child’s portion because they ran out of plates. Once we had finally received our burgers my stepdad and I took a bite and both were not rare but raw I scraped at it with my fork and the beef turned into a pink paste! The chef who tried to fob us off with someone’s receipt saying we ordered rare burgers which we didn’t took us on an extra ride round the block and tried to give us more food. In the end we asked for a refund and that took another 30 minutes. Altogether it took 1:45 to receive and send back the food. One of our friends heard the chef slagging us off. To say it is under new management it’s terrible they need to get their stuff together to be successful. To say the chef’s son is Michelin star she was terrible, I believe it was a lie since nobody would come to a place like Thorne to cook when you’re that high of a standard. Terrible quality! Never visit again.

Update 17-Jun-19. Over the past year or so this place has has 3 manangement teams which does nothing to help the smooth running of the place. A pre booked function had no details in the diary and required rebooking with them and passing the information of the function. On the night of the function the staff , led by the new manager, proceeded to clear and stack chairs in the function room with guests still present, and no request to leave. Time wise this was bang on closing time so we hadn't even been running on. The buffet provided for the function was ok, but nothing special and garlic bread was so hard you could use it as Ninja throwing star. I'm not sure who's at fault for everything that's happened, the staff , management team or brewery. But from a location that I was happy to use as a regular pub eatery, this place is going downhill. And the attitude of the latest management regarding our function and clearing the room is abhorrent.

This was booked for a family of 7 adults 1 child and a baby for a mother’s day offer which was advertised in the local paper for a 3 course lunch. When we arrived it was only one course carvery. The food was cold and of very poor quality and we would not go there ever again. When we commented on this the reply was that the place was under new management. This is not acceptable and we would definitely not recommend this venue to others

Good value low cost hotel. Breakfast superb.easy to find easy to park. Making the WiFi code easily available would have been helpful.

We went after hearing that it was under new management and it was fantastic I had the chicken and mushroom pasta and it was amazing my husband had the burger and he said that it was really good. I can't wait to try everything else is the menu

Booked to allow us to attend funeral the following day. Food was really good and bar staff keen to meet customer requirements and were really enthusiastic. However, the room was disappointing, bed was tired and needed replacing, bin in room had not been emptied and was full of beer cans. In the en-suite we found an unused sanitary towel on the floor behind the toilet bowl and a hand towel had make up on it. However it is a nice place and needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to an acceptable standard.

Visited today and won’t be going back. Only Sunday carvery available which was a shame as my other half wanted something other than Sunday dinner but we decided to stay and try it regardless. Was very surprised when I asked for a glass of Merlot to be told that’s only sold by the bottle! So I asked what other wines were available by glass but was told no red ... only white or rose. Never heard of that before to be honest and I did notice half a bottle of red opened behind the bar but the girl serving me was insistent. Anyway I reluctantly chose a bottle of red as I figured I’d just take the rest home. The girl gave me the red wine in a wine cooler filled with ice.... which is a big no no... red is never served cold. Carvery was poor, 2 tiny slices of meat and stuffing that was terrible and dry. Rest of veg ok but cauliflower cheese cold. I think overall we was made to feel just unwelcome... like we were an inconvenience. I heard a girl behind the bar complaining cos of the customers she was never gonna get her dinner. The woman I assume was the manager looked very much like she didn’t want to be there and was matron like... unapproachable. Won’t go back and it’s such a shame as this place used to be lovely.

Plenty of choice on menu and great service by Ellie behind the bar. Food was tasty and enough of it . If rooms are as good as bar/food and staff then well worth staying

Fabulous place to go, such a great atmosphere. The food is delicious and a great range of choice. The staff are wonderful, friendly and so helpful. The landlady and her hubby are friendly to. The decorations are beautiful for any occasions that they hold. Value for money too.

This place has given us what has to be one of our best family Christmas meals ever. It's the first time we have dared to venture beyond our own homes to eat out at Christmas - well what a treat. Relaxed, well managed and none rushed, organised atmosphere. Nice little glass of bucks fizz on arrival. Lovely big round table by the window with loads of space between ourselves and other guests. Staff were friendly and attentive and couldn't have done more to accommodate our every need - extra potatoes - no problem, more gravy - came in seconds and without grumble or toil. Food was lovely and plenty for all including vegetarian main dish options. Even if there hadn't been enough for the bigger plate eaters, extra was not a problem. We were so pleased especially as it was our choice of venue and we had my sister, her husband and two mums joining us. We will be using the venue for our wedding next year.

Neh. Works Christmas meal. Meal absolutely atrocious. Mixed grill was missing pork chop, black pudding & onion rings. Two gammon meals were missing pineapple, tomato, mushroom & onion rings. The gammon was like leather. What the hell has happened to the place????

Flustered staff, no one has a clue what they are meant to be doing rooms not cleaned the list goes on and on my advice just give it a miss until they sort themselves out , in the defence the management were very helpful but this does t excuse the state of the place.

Superb sirloin steaks, great value for money. Cooked to our requirements. We will return to sample more of what seems a great menu! Plenty of choices.

We recently paid a visit to the Punchbowl after hearing of their new menu & new chefs on the local radio station.

Not a great experience. Food was pretty average nothing special to write home about just average.

Stayed over night for a wedding rooms were not clean hairs in sink and half used shampoo n shower gel .. and went down for breakfast which me and my family were enjoying until my husband spotted a dog poo under table .... so went n told staff who just came with blue paper picked it up and walked away no disinfectant spray or nothing on carpet... not good hygiene at all will not be staying again

Never again. Food is shocking and overpriced for what little you get. A very quiet atmosphere when you're the only one sat there in the whole pub and the manager is sat there staring at you.

Called in recently will not be going back again, ordered cottage pie, you could hardly find the meat it was just mashed potato and it had not even been baked in the oven to get the top brown. My husband had the scamp which was overcooked.

Three of us visited for lunch today. We asked for the meat pie on special at £4.95. Was told they didn't have any but the chef would do the steak & ale pie from the ordinary menu as a special it would just be a smaller portion. That was ok for a lunch so ordered. When it came we all looked in amazement, the pastry was about 3"x1" with 4 pieces of dry, burnt meat underneath.meat was do dry we were unable to use a fork and the knife just bounced off. We sent all meals back & asked for jacket potato with chilli as a replacement. About 15 minutes later the waitress came to say there was no chilli. We asked for our money back & walked out. Will not be returning. I have had to give it 1 star to complete the review but in reality it doesn't deserve a star at all.

I have stayed in hundreds of places around the country and I never leave reviews but this has to be by far one of the worst I get my room and I'm greeted with what looks like a standard room I took a look in the bathroom to find half used toiletries some of which not even suplied by the inn, next the sink has alot of grime and dried out toothpaste around the plug hole, the standard of cleanliness in the ensuite was terrible and wouldn't expect it in my own house let alone for a paying customer I took a look at the bed and it was made but looked scruffy which then made me think have the sheets even been cleaned so I lift the duvet up and the bottom sheet is not on properly which makes me think this deffinatley hadn't been made properly to then find human nails in my sheets and two corners of sweet wrappers under the bottom sheet!!! Disgusting!

Come in on a Wendesday evening for tea after work. Ordered scampi and it was lush, lovely atmosphere and brilliant staff.

Met up with friends around 2pm. Ordered food and found a quick efficient friendly service. Lasagne very tasty and served piping hot with salad and garlic bread. Good value 2 meals for £12

Chicken Tikka tasted like burnt curried gravy & chips tasted as though we're cooked in burnt fat. Wife's steak was 50% overdone & 50% griddle. Lemonade was terrible. Will never go there again.1 star for Morreti beer.

poor quailty, salmon looked like it had been reheated, steak tough, one meal forgotten. no bitter available. wont go again!

Just had lunch here with my friend.

I went to the Punchbowl with my family for a drink, with a view to have some food. I asked for a pint of beer and soft drinks for my kids. The barrel ran out, no problem it happens. The young lady behind the bar then said they were out of the beer (I got the impression she just wanted me to pick something else) to which I responded by saying I would wait for the barrel to be changed. After 10 minutes of standing at the bar without even an apology whilst the chef and lady tried to work out how to change a barrel, I walked out.

I wasn’t expecting a great deal but punch bowl didn’t even meet these low expectations. Food was poor. Ale was incredibly bland, so sad to say about a micro brewery but really poor and my child got picked on by a gang of kids in the play park. It’s a fab building but really really not worth paying any money for.

I have never before thought of writing a review but I can honestly say I feel compelled to voice my disappointment of the standard and presentation of buffet food served at a wedding I attended. As you must know catering goes on your reputation and you clearly let yourself down badly. Quiches were shop bought taken out of box and slapped on table in foil trays they came in, sausage rolls, also shop bought cut in half also slapped on a tray, Selection of sandwiches(no brown bread) were salmon spread, primular cheese spread and wafer thin ham on dry bread (DISGUSTING) There was none of the staples expected on a buffet like egg mayonnaise, cheese and onion, cheese and pickle decent meats ect. There was no garnish of any sort dips served in plastic trays they came in, nothing to serve them with or to dip in them eg bread sticks, vegetables other than crisps which you had to grab with your hands, again no serving cutlery. There was nothing sweet at all. I totally believe that this buffet was prepared after a quick shop to Aldi in the morning. So much for your gold standard buffet I don't believe they even looked at the menu. Perhaps the silver is just a bowl of nuts...Totally appalling your success goes on your reputation. The choice was poor and the presentation was worse no one was checking the buffet the wedding co ordinator was not even present. I have done far better myself. I know for a fact that out of the 100 people who attended that day none would recommend your venue again for a function of this type. Thank goodness for the good company and the pink gin as this day could have been so much worse.

Had tea here tonight. My partner and myself had cottage pie. What arrived was a bowl of gravy with mashed potato piped on it. Absolutely no meat in either pie! We were charged the thick end of £9 each for potato in gravy with a few chips. Absolutely disgusting!

Visited here for our anniversary meal and the food was gorgeous with generous portions of homemade deliciousness.

We only stopped here for lunch on the way up to North Yorkshire but it's a pretty decent big pub, fairly stylishly modernised, with a decent lunch menu - certainly much nicer than the service station on the M18... It was pretty quiet on a Friday lunchtime but staff were friendly and we sat in the light and airy garden room across the front of the pub eating some very good roasted veg and halloumi sandwiches. Slightly frustrating that the mezze sharing board on the menu wasn't available - apparently the menu is in the process of changing - but what we had was tasty and with a small side salad. A good find.

Absolutely terrible meal asked for the steak supposedly rib a 10 ounce medium to well done came slightly medium asked to be done correctly came back medium it was tough and chewy and dry I complained I was told the menu would be changing soon absolutely no apology no offer of different meal no offer of refund theyCOULD NOT CARE LESS !!!!!

Absolutely shocking! The service is terrible and staff are rude. When it comes to food it's overpriced and 95% of it tastes like it came out of the bin.

Called here today on the way back from a trip out to grab a drink and some food.... kind of wish we hadn’t. The pub itself,the outside area and decor inside is clean and fresh and has been renovated from last visit and we were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside as it was yet again a stunning day and ordered drinks and picked up a menu. After perusing for a while I chose the fish and chips accompanied with mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce,my dining partner picked the meat combo consisting of a 5oz steak,gammon,minted lamb chops and pulled pork along with chips,coleslaw two corn on the cobs and a side salad. On ordering we were asked how we’d like the steak cooking we stated rare.... it came well done,the pulled pork was dry as a bone and inedible and I cannot begin to tell you the amount of bones I pulled out of my fish!! The tartare sauce was vile and actually tasted like one of those sour creme and chive dips you get from a tex mex mix. Unfortunate as the staff and surroundings here are fantastic...the portion amounts exceed what’s needed it’s just a shame regarding the quality of food being served.

Wanted the sea food platter but they wasnt doing it. So had big fish it was abit to coated in lots of batter and had bones. The staff was nice though. If having a function there for funeral it was excellent buffet for my husbands funeral. I was happy that it brought the family closer. Thank you to punch bowl.
