Breakfast stops at 11.30 re ordering I'd taken my friend there abd there was a queue By the the time we actually got served it was a couple of minutes after 11.30 but we were told point blank we couldn't order breakfast We went to Fletchers Farm and had a wonderful breakfast instead ! The women severs at Strikes are miserable never smile and are slow apart from Natalie who is delightful but she is on maternity leave !!Needs to improve.

I adore this cafe, I go every week with my mam who has dementia. The staff are so friendly and welcoming especially Carol, she always has a smile and a sunny disposition. The food is lovely and the place is so clean.

We both ordered Corned Beef Pie with Chips were told the peas would cost extra. When the meals arrived OMG what a shock. There was 6 chips and the smallest portion of garden peas you could ask for and the gravy was like dish water. The plate was half empty. Ordered 2 pits of tea only to be charged £28. What a rip off. I understand they need to make a profit but this was a total rip off. If I ever go again I will not buy any meals there they are just not worth it. We could have both gone to McDonalds and had a meal which would have been more substantial that this for half the price? Buyer beware!

Lady serving left me waiting whilst chatting to a biker for at least 5 mins when I asked r you serving,yes what do you want,I was 2nd in queue by the time I was served on asking the queue was to the end of counter.her attitude obviously not upto par with being picked up by me gor talking. drinks order went out of sequence. Aswell Rather disappointing visit to say the least

We went this afternoon - 3 people in front of us waiting to be served - 4 staff behind the counter serving food and hot drinks. I was served to start with a lady who broke off to have a discussion with 2 of her colleagues - then further interruptions of conversations between them - customers just left . The staff were aware we were there. Lady in front of me had some query with her bill - so again we were left mid way this time between drinks been made - whilst all 3 discussed with Cashier the problem ! Was given 1 very tiny jug of milk for drinks - asked for another one and was given one very begrudgingly. The Cashier was very pleasant and efficient and customers were her priority !! Very disappointed the service gets worse.

Well, don't some people like to whinge!! We are regulars at Strikes both for the garden centre and the restaurant and can't find anything to moan about. We've had lunch loads of times and have never been disappointed. The staff are all friendly and I have never seen any of them looking fed up. Yes, sometimes the queue is long and it can take a while to get served but doesn't that just show the popularity of the place. The restaurant is bright and spacious and once you sit down, the food arrives quickly and we have never had a bad meal in there. My boyfriend always has the mince and onion pie with chips and peas and he says it's the best pie ever! 2 lunches with coffees averages at £26 and if you use the rewards card, you get free coffees every month - can't be bad. We have also been in for coffee and cakes which have also been good. I came in for Christmas lunch with some friends, 3 courses with coffee for under £20, what's to complain about for goodness sake. The shop isn't cheap by any means but the quality is excellent, great choice of plants etc and I would say there's something for everyone. Again, the rewards cards ensures that you eventually get something for nothing! Oh and by the way, despite a negative comment from another reviewer, Virginia who manned the till in the restaurant today was super friendly. :)

Lovely place but the counter and service area are not fit for the amount of people. Tea and coffee passable but the Bakewell Tart tray bake was dry and lacked taste. Barely had time to put my cup down before they wanted to clear the table.

You wait forever in queue to get served, they seem to have no system,don’t buy out of the glass case as it his not covered and customers breathing all over them while queuing. The coffee cup sizes are a joke for the price And so slow serving

We enjoyed tea and toasted tea cakes. The café was clean, the staff efficient and friendly and the food good. It’s well laid out so doesn’t feel crowded.

Stood in que waiting 4 tea pots while meal sat at table so sent back Not enough staff or teapots Quite expensive n 1 portion of chips 2.95 for 15 chips......... Very disappointed

Don't even go there. Bacon overcooked and kept warm. It was like a piece of wood. Sausages undercooked. 1" thick rubbery black pudding. Snotty fried eggs like rubber. Everything was tepid. The best bit was the toast(can't get that wrong really). "fresh filtered coffee" tasted like it was made two days ago. Not going back. It was bright and clean and the staff were very nice. Best thing to say about it! Two stars are for the staff.

Visited the restaurant for lunch on 29 December 2023 and ordered two sets of Cheese and Onion Quiches that came with fries and salad that was probably prepared for last Christmas, if not longer. The quiche was good, but the salad was simply inedible! Wilted, dried, and horrible! Definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

Had Xmas lunch with my friend and it was gorgeous! We love the food , especially roast turkey , love the pudding too . All the staff very help full and clean. Would definitely come back for lunch as all the normal food menu look amazing

Had lunch here, we did not book but managed to get a table. Food excellent, service good. Restaurant lovely and clean with a lot of staff cleaning and turning around the tables. Highly recommended will definitely be back.

We went to Strikes garden centre as a group of five family members covering three generations The weather wasn’t brilliant and we hoped that the two year old would enjoy looking around the Christmas section as it was too wet to go to the park. This worked really well So we decided to get lunch while we were there One selection was from the specials board. You place your order with the first person at one end of the counter. This person could not find the item on her menu list and had to get help from a colleague to find it Having moved along the counter you pay a different person. She also could not find the item and had to refer to a colleague for guidance This second person then rang our order through and put one meal through twice. Fortunately I spotted this prior to paying and had the item removed They then gave us our beverages which consisted of three teas. We had to point out that the order was for three after they had given us only two The meals arrived super fast. Which meant that we were not waiting long at all. It also meant that the three meals chosen from the deli counter (two quiches and corned beef pie) must have been reheated in the microwave The beef ciabatta arrived with basically a bag of crisps emptied onto the side of the plate. This just happened to be the meal that two servers could not locate at the ordering counter. Having pointed out that the meal was listed with “gourmet chips” they were very quick to bring out an extra portion of chips. All be it that they were the same chips as everybody else’s With all of this so far we started tucking in without high expectations But To be fair the food was really good and we all enjoyed our meals very much We were aware that Strikes is not a budget establishment and if you intend going for a meal there and price is important to you then this should be taken into account We had two quiche and chips, one corned beef pie and chips, one beef ciabatta and one child’s chicken goujons. Drinks were three teas, one large coffee and a Capri Sun fruit drink. Total spend was just North of £60 The overall experience was helped by the Christmas section and the fact that a small child was well entertained on a cold and wet day Also pretty good as a garden centre So I would go back without hesitation. I would also happily eat there again. But I don’t think that I would go just for the meal

Visited for the Xmas Open Evening which was on from 4pm to 8pm. There was a Xmas menu offered for hot food from 4pm to 7pm. However at 6pm, 2 choices from this menu were no longer available! There was no apology..just a comment that "we've been busy since 4pm"! Unfortunately, not all of us could arrive from 4pm due to work! Surely if you are offering a Xmas menu, then you have to ensure all choices will be available for the time specified! This was meant to be a treat for our friend who had recovered from a Sciatica attack. We ended getting Chinese Takeaway on the way home!

Went here for coffee and cake before doing shopping. Virginia certainly needs lessons in politeness!

Fabulous afternoon tea, totally worth the money Infact it was only 15.00 each including coffee. Beautifully presented and we were given boxes for any leftovers. We will definitely be back .. highly recommend.

I visited Strikes again today, I was there 2 weeks ago. Always “top dollar” for everything, but my main gripe is just how awful the service is! The wait for a hot drink is shocking. Loads of staff everywhere, but just one bored looking female making hot drinks. It took nearly 15 minutes to buy a flapjack and hot chocolate! UNACCEPTABLE! Not a supervisor in sight, just hapless staff walking about. Does anyone in management read these reviews and realise how terrible they are? Grow a pair of balls and sort it out!
