Tom's Fish Shop in Rushmoor

Given the benefit of the doubt since change of owner as formerly excellent. Fish always appearing light so weighed last nights 10-14oz cod & weighed in at 9 1/4 oz. Totally unacceptable! Prepping 4-6, 8-12 & 10-14oz portions should aim for centre point weight NOT MINIMUM! Wet fish cooked to order & batter wet & uncooked on inner side & whole thing dripping in grease. Given then 3-4 chances over past few months but won’t be returning now. Great shame as used to be best in this end of town. Sadly now best avoided, but then they are all same these days it seems. £9 for an undersized cod, then add portion of chips - compare that to a £12 Carvery at the local Toby with an overflowing plate & a full & happy belly - no contest!

The fish was not bad from Tom’s but I didn’t like the chips. The medium cod was a good size and freshly cooked to order but not the best flavour or texture. The chips were not very fresh and were not at all crisp having a soggy / chewy texture, although the portion size was fairly big. Both were fairly greasy but not too bad. A medium cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £11.60 (cash only). Ok if you live very locally and don’t want to drive but I don’t think I would visit again as there are other chip shops locally with better food and better value (Sizzling Wok, Oh My Cod, The Orient in Tongham, and even Seafare included).

Fish is tasteless and batter was soggy. Chips were ok . Smelt good but was disappointed with what we received.

Way way over priced even in current climate & even chips have to be cooked to order it seems meaning a long long 10min wait for just a bag of chips. Won’t be returning

Tried here for the first time last night very impressed with the quality of food and portion size, just about perfect. Staff were super friendly and they offer NHS discount which is nice to see. Cash only but there is a cash point next door.

Tasty fish and chips and decent sized portions. Friendly staff and a good service provided. I highly recommend this fish & chip shop.

Food is really good and the place is very clean, the stuff are super friendly especially the handsome young man. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Horrible place workers were fairly decent I asked for 2 small chips 2 small sausages and 2 gravy pots they had no gravy so I had to order curry instead but instead of 2 pots I got given 1 pot of curry sauce , one worker ran across the road to try get gravy from the shop , one worker came and started interfering and moaning at the other workers , portion sizes are small , so anyway I got home I got a extra sausage cut the 2 little sausages in half they were raw the curry was as watery as water sausages was really greasy WOULD not recommend at all disgusting food , the chips were under average I got charged £10.80 for all of that my opinion I think that’s is way over priced, floor and walls dirty could see the grime and grease disgusting place , my opinion I think it should of stayed shut and not opened up again 🤦🤦very disappointed

I know the shop has only just reopened after a few years, so I have made a few allowances for this. The fish was very greasy and fairly tasteless. The quality of the chips was average, and no where near as many as you used to get. The mushy peas tasted weird, and not that pleasant. I asked for salt and vinegar (as is traditional) but the quantity put on was minute. I did ask for more, but I could have counted the grains of salt on one hand. The worst part for me was being given a price of £10.60, but after handing over a £20 note I had a handful of cash thrust at me. On getting home I had only been given £8.40 change, so overcharged by £1.00. I know I should have checked so take full responsibility for the error. I won't be rushing back for a while.

We love the fish chips and sausages from Toms... I can't believe people have a problem with them... staff are pleasant and professional.

Always excellent cod and chips - and very large portions at a very reasonable price. Friendly service.

Decent littke chippy food was nice and the prices are respectable...service was quick too but its take away only...no seating

First visit. Food was good and quick. Maybe a little over priced but fish was big and close to home. Curry Sauce is to die for

Not alot too say about this place. Chips are never cooked. Fish is basic. Pies are lastnights offerings. Surprised it stays open.need a experienced fryer .avoid unless you like sushi.

Also hot and the curry sauce is delightful and the chips are steaming hot. Also the fish cakes are freshly cooked and delicious

Es uno de mis locales chippys. Hace algunos años, juré que no volvería, sin embargo ha sido un par de veces en los últimos meses. Siempre tenía algo sencillo, pero no me puedo quejar! Comida recién hecha, caliente y patatas fritas de calidad bastante decente si te gusta ellos del tipo más suave y un montón de ellos! No parece que mantener un montón de sudor lejos en el más cálido, más cocinar más recién. Sin duda, continuar apoyándolos.

Ate here once. Once was enough. The chips were a travesty to human taste, the fish was dried out and tasted old. Though this is my local fish bar, I sooner travel elsewhere than eat here again

Great local fish and chips. Fast and friendly. Chips are amazing as well as their curry sauce. I usually have a chicken and mushroom pie, chips and curry sauce.

El pescado y las patatas fritas eran tan pobres que no comer allí de nuevo. Pescado seco y antiguas de patatas fritas. El servicio era rápido así que quizás la comida había sido sentados alrededor de un rato.

Lo peor pescado y patatas fritas que he tenido la desgracia de comer. Patatas fritas son buena parte de buen tamaño y bien pero el pescado era muy pobre. 1 x Cod 2 x solla europea. Porciones de miniatura escondida dentro desagradable pasta enorme. Los 3 de nosotros lo tiró lejos. ¡Qué pérdida de tiempo y dinero. Recomiendo evitar. Tienda decente de kebabs en la misma desfile que no está mal. ¿Por qué las tiendas de chocolate no puedo hacer la mínima pasta como solían me supera.

This is my go to fish & chip shop. Quick friendly service and very good prices make it the best of its kind in the area.

They always have great fish and chips, etc. I go there too regularly and am never disappointed. The people who run it are always helpful and charming.
