we had a meal tonight 27/9/2024 7pm from kings and it was absolutely awful. we ordered Thai green curry, boiled rice, portion of chips and sesame toast. well when we got home and opened our cartons. what a big disappointment. the rice for £4 was very poor value for money, the sesame toast was cooked in oil that was too hot or dirty oil, the chips were dry and awful. as for the Thai green curry it was tasteless, far too many undercooked bamboo shoots you couldn't chew. chicken was like rubber. all I can say is since mandy has left, kings is not the kings I knew back then. never again will I buy food from there after tonight. good riddance that's all I can now say. very sad 😔 😟 🙁

Always re-heating up cold chips. Fed up now and not going back. I know a lot of chip shops do it, but this place is the champion of re-heated food. No thanks.

Portions are still big but starting to get a bit expensive

Chips were awful .tasted like they had been reheated from lunch time that’s the second time I’ve had chips tasted like that ….it will be the last …… special fried rice has no taste . . You have to wait ages for food .definitely has gone down hill since Mandy retired . Won’t be using kings again

The cods are huge and so is the large portion of chips. Also the cod is very tasty.

Nipped in for some lunch, sweet and sour chicken balls with rice. Good price and tasted nice 12 balls was a large portion size. I have also had fish and chips from there in the past and the chips were good not our 1st choice for Fish and chips but Chinese is good.

Fish and chips portions are massive, alternatively the sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice is lovely. This will always be my favourite.

I was here to get a takeaway, Kings fish and chips are among the best in the area and we travel several miles to obtain our fish and chips from Kings, despite there being several fish and chip outlets much closer. Kings also provide Chinese takeaway food, I've not tried that yet.

Very nice fish and chips from here. Freshly cooked to order and well cooked - tender white fish in light batter and nice crisp chips. The fish and the chips were wrapped separately which kept the chips from going soggy on the drive home. Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £11.50 which is a bit pricey but the portions were absolutely massive - especially the chips which could have easily fed two people. I imagine the large could comfortably feed a whole family. The standard size of cod here would be a large in most chip shops these days. I would really have preferred at least the option of smaller portions and a lower price. It was a nice touch including a slice of lemon and a sachet of tartare sauce with the fish.

Everything was good but just one thing that not liked was only Cash accepted!!

I live in Yorkshire but am from Aldershot, I just have to say this is the best place to get chips from that I know of and they are great and the portion size well just amazingly big

We always get good food from here. It's reasonably priced and there's so much choice, everyone is happy. Beware the portions of chips are huge. Really friendly staff but they only take cash.

Got a takeaway for 4 people. Food was amazing all hot. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

We have used this takeaway for over 30 years, both for Chinese and Fish and Chips meals. The food has always been great. Tonight, however, we have had the worst meal we have ever had from there. We had Gong Bao beef the flavour of which was lovely, but the beef pieces were too big, and some were gristly. We also had Sweet and Sour mixed vegetables. The sauce was weak and runny and looked as if it had been watered down. There was no flavour at all. We will give this takeaway a miss for a while and try other local takeaways. Such a disappointment.

Fish and chips was excellent under previous ownership. Tried again from new owners and was no good. Fish was thin and tasteless. Won’t be going back. Loyal customer here for 12 years!

I've tried quite a few Chinese takeaways in the 40 years plus that I've lived in the Farnborough area but this is the first time I've tried Kings, in Kings Road Aldershot, and by comparison with others I'd rate Kings the highest. The overall quality of the food was exceptional and easily on a par with far pricier eat-in restaurants in central London. Soft slices of beef, lightly cooked prawns (not overcooked and rubbery prawns) which, surprisingly for the dish I ordered, were not covered in an oily batter coating, and a lovely selection of fresh vegetables, just slightly crunchy as they should be and covered in a a tangy and only slightly sweet sauce, not tasteless gloop. There were distinctive flavours to every dish. Add to all this the fact that there were generous portions and what more could you want?

My 1st visit . Lovely fish and chips. Very good, Portion size. When I stay at my daughters again, it will be my first port of call.

Very disappointed. Had read great reviews about this place so decided to try it. Ordered 2 cod and one large chips. Husbands cod he said was nice chips were fine my cod was full of uncooked batter under the crunchy coat. Picked some of the fish out but left most of it

Placed an ordered. 2x cod and chips. All nearly ready when we arrived. The portion of chips, I asked if that was 2 portions, no was the reply, was going to be too much, so only took 1 portion. The size of the portions are huge. The fish was a good size too. All very tasty. We will try the Chinese next time. But, think we have found our new local chippy. I love kings Fish Bar. Service is always friendly and quick. The food is tasty, very good curry sauce, not the generic curry sauce most other take aways use. It has flavour. Portion sizes are very generous too. What more could you want?

Never had a chance to eat anything, drove all round the houses to find it and they only take cash. Seriously this day and age get with the 21st century.

Dont get me wrong the food here is superb, but............ the days of fish and chips being a staple meal for the masses has well passed, this is now a luxury the cost has become prohibitive to many in our area, a piece of fish is now in excess of £7 and chips over £3 per portion, not too bad if you're on your own, but a family of 4 the cost is over £40, prices have dramatically increase over the past few months around 30% we used to use them regularly, but now it works out more affordable to go elsewhere, like many others in the area have

Not been here for a long time .and suprised how expensive it is here now spec as its cash only ? .. no tax to pay i guess ..did a compare amd definitely now up there with the most expensive fish and chip shops

Always consistent ,I have been using them over 15 years and the same owner (Mary) runs such a tight ship. Great food ,great portions always good. Just don't forget the cash only rule. ☹️

First time Kings experience and WOW yummy.... Could not believe the size and crunchiness of the batter on the perfect flaky fish. Kings is an excellent Chinese takeaway and Fish and Chip shop. Mandy takes the helm and all the staff are very friendly. The food is high quality and substantial!!. They remember their customers and always serve you with a smile. Once you've tried you will be smitten.

Have been using the place for 25 years really friendly staff nice food. 1 large chips is enough for a family of 4 and so have some left. Mandy and her family are really nice always friendly. Only downside at the moment is they only take cash

Although you can get super take away Chinese food here, I usually visit for fish and chips. It is always busy, sometimes a queue to the door, but the owners work very hard to serve their customers quickly, so the queue moves quickly. Fish and chips always fresh and served with a smile. Good portions.

I went to this chippy as it has the best Google rating in the area. I was disappointed. It is an old school place with a Chinese style to the rest of the menu. Portions were huge (2 portions of chips filled one small carrier bag). The cod was also huge and both the chips and the fish itself were well cooked. But... 2 cod and chips set me back £16. Yes, portion sizes were huge but most of it was wasted. Worse than that, the batter wasn't cooked properly being at best a bit soft and in places still gooey liquid. Revolting. Maybe it was a bad day, but I won't be going back.

I have been coming here for years having been recommended upon moving to the area ten plus years ago. Family run business with a loyal customer base. This place doesn’t try to be something it isn’t and it’s business model is based on simplicity - good food and good service.

Found by chance, that did not take card payments so had to find a cash machine and went back. It was well worth it though service was great and friendly and the food quality was superb and so much of it. Found my new Chinese & Fish and chip take out. Found a gem of a place .

Sadly I’m not a regular at this fish shop and I don’t normally do takeaways at all; but occasionally I will. The shop is well staffed by family members and orders are taken quickly with a smile and some friendly chat. The food is ready quickly too, is piping hot and of good quality. My only real comment would be, there is no way a single person can comfortably get through a single portion of chips, but to share would be my advice.
