Toby Carvery Ugly Duckling in South Bucks

Was greeted with a big smile as soon as we walked through the door. Sat very quickly by the lovely lady’s at the front. Chloe that looked after us once we were seated was outstanding very quick and polite. The chef that was serving was very witty and didn’t mind us having a bit off each meat. The food was spot on. As we leaving we got a very pleasant goodbye, which doesn’t really happen much anymore. Thank you for a lovely afternoon felt very welcome.

Excellent value for money, so many discounts available. A warm welcome by two lovely ladies. Our Server Chloe was very efficient and smiley. The roast beef melted in our mouths. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Can’t wait to come back next week.

First and last visit to a Toby Carvery. The room lacked atmosphere, service was slow, small portion of meat offered and parts were inedible due to fat and gristle, chef was quite abrupt with no social skills whosoever, vegetables were appealing - cold, tasteless, dried up. May seem value for money with various voucher offers but really not good.

A very well warm welcoming! seated quickly. Our server was lovely and smiling. Food was delicious. Puddings were fantastic. All at such a great price. Can’t wait to come back again.

I may be old fashioned but I like to be acknowledged when I’m waiting to be served. 4!or 5 bar staff walked past us and completely ignored us. Finally we were seated at a table that was not set up. We waited an age before we finally saw someone to ask if they would take our drinks order. Was told that someone would be with us soon and had to wait a further 10 minutes to order and for the server to then get our drinks wrong. When we questioned this she said ‘yeah i know. I won’t charge you for them’ ! Food was ok. Desert was good and the only good service we got was from the guy carving the meat. Such a shame that customer service is not a priority in this day and age. I won’t be going back!

Wow, I couldn't believe my eyes with the amount of meat I had been given. Mashed potato was cold and the gravy lukewarm. Roast potatoes were not crispy at all!

Absolutely appalling. Was absolutely boiling in the place, rammed in like sardines, with shocking wait times. Visited with my husband and 1 year old. Granted it was a Sunday so thought it would be busy, so pre booked. We arrived 10 minutes early, so also expected a small wait until table was ready, was not expecting a 30 minute wait with a ravenous child. Went up to check twice, ready to walk out. Mind my patience was wavering by the 30 minute mark… there was a small apology for the wait, but was like its usual practice. Once we finally got seated, we then waited another 10 minutes for wait staff to take our order. Table was filthy, and not set-up.. might be because we asking where our table was, but still… I went up to collect food for myself and baby, another 20 minutes queuing.. food was left to be desired. Once my husband could go up, he waited another 20 minutes. Mid-que announcement they had run out of gammon ‘we didn’t know it was going to be this busy’… how?!?? How do you not know it’s going to be busy… Could not wait to get out of there, we both left half our food as was just inedible. Turkey was nice, beef you were lucky to get a square inch without fat or veins running through. Roast potatoes might have well as been mash, dripping in oil too. Just don’t understand why they could let so many people get in….. ugly duckling sums up this place perfectly.

The food was good - the roast potatoes were to die for! Very crispy and gooey. Our waiter was new and absolutely amazing. Very polite, kind and professional. I think his name was Hamid? We were there early which was great because we didn’t have to queue! 😂

As soon as we walked in the heat hit us . It was far too warm . The food left a lot to be desired . Roast potatoes? More like mash , not browned or crispy at all. Totally bland. We couldn’t wait to get out . The price has gone up too . Could have gone somewhere much nicer for the same price . Wish we had . Won’t be going back.

the queue after waiting to be seated was long like 30-40 people long and reminisent of prisoner cell block H , line up and have someone throw inedible meat on your plate and help yourself to dried up bits and bobs, really fatty meat with tons of skin , it was grim!

Wifey & I and a group of friends (10 in total) went to this restaurant on a Wednesday night thinking it might be. A bit quieter ! The place was HEAVING with a long queue at the carvery. Once we got the food several of our friends were very disappointed with the Beef saying it was VERY gristly ( the lovely waitress commented that we weren’t he first to make that comment tonight) but otherwise the food was piping hot, there was a steady stream of refills coming from the kitchen and the pork& Gammon I had was delish ! The puds were very tasty too with excellent ice cream. Overall, despite it being a bit of a scrum it was a very pleasant evening and we’l definitely be back again !

I have always been really please with the Toby Carvery food. BUT since the recent Government changes to 'Table Service Only' due to Covid-19 this Toby needs to get their act together. On the 26th September our family of 6 booked for 6:30. We were squashed into seats/table suitable for 4 ONLY. We duly filled out the food order form, BUT 3 meals were incorrect, they were ALL cold, food had just been 'DUMPD' on the plate burying the Yorkshire pudding so it was soggy. The waiter apologised and was trying to do his best but very stressed. I did ask that the problems should be reflected in our bill, which it was. Now I could go on but.... I wrote to them to complain, and Now I have received a £20 gift voucher, which all very good BUT I would have appreciated a reply as how they intend to correct the problems they are having, after all I have been to other venues which have carvery served at table since, and it was perfect.H Tovey Worthing.

I have been here many times in the last couple of months but last week and today I was served by Tayla I was served by her on her first day and again today and see was just so lovely, well spoken and done her job very well! It helps when you have kind staff that want to help and go out of there way to help no matter how much of a nuisance I may have been being awkward with my food order! I only wish I had more cash on me to give her a bigger tip! To be fair all the staff here are welcoming and friendly

I meet my friend here regularly and today it was very disappointing. The air conditioning was broken so it was boiling. My friend had beef and it was so tough she couldn’t eat it, I asked the server for quite precise veg and the server got everyone wrong! It was cold so really couldn’t eat much.

Best Toby Carvery around. Friendly staff and lovely hot food. Cleanliness and social distancing was kept all through.

Still good and sanitising precautions are adequate. Spaced out tables so less crowded and chef handles everything at carvery rather than help self. Food tasty and staff efficient.

We went on Monday evening as a family of four, it was very busy due to the “eat out help out” scheme. However, it was very well organised, staff were super helpful, nothing was too much trouble even though they were run off their feet! We took advantage of the ‘Eat out to help out’ scheme and were very impressed. The standard of food and service didn’t drop. The turkey was very succulent and the gammon very flavoursome. Even though the place was busy, the overworked staff were very welcoming, cheerful and attentive. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Took the family to the restaurant today for our grandsons birthday wasn't expecting anything to good being a Sunday lunch and very busy fortunately I had booked a table which we were shown to promptly drinks arrived in good time and of to the carvery where we were sereved with our meats and got our own vegetables the choice was impressive and nicely presented and hot no complaints from our family standard choice of desserts and the bill was not earth shattering would choose the venue again

I will say the standard of the roast is quite good, but why is it so cold ? The servers are obviously used to being asked the same question. Fix it.

Called in there today for a breakfast. Pleasent enough lady at the reception and the serving station. All items piping hot and tasty. Tables and dining area clean. First class for under a fiver!!

My parents visit here every Friday & always enjoy a lovely meal. As they were unable to attend this Friday, we went for Sunday lunch today instead. Meat was beautifully cooked, whilst potatoes & vegetables were cooked to perfection. As always Bliss & her team were amazing, making the lunch even more enjoyable.

Visited for a family birthday. Have been before and been impressed. This time not so good. Had a pre booked table which we had to wait for. A member of the party noticed on the table that if you download the app you could get a % off the bill. She was struggling to download it so the manager was called over. The manager was quite abrupt and said basically that because it didn’t have Denham names then it wouldn’t apply. However after reading it did in face apply to all Toby carverys. She was quite blunt about it and not very friendly and professional. Disappointed to leave on such a low note. Will think twice about coming again. As didn’t feel welcome.

Breakfast options were a £10 Premier Inn option (never choose them), find a burger van or seek out the legendary Toby buffet breakfast. 2 hour drive from Folkstone to this fantastic pub to start my day off, getting around the M25 as well! Really happy, friendly staff, lots of breakfast on offer, all hot and well cooked, regularly checked and topped up, lots of customers eating, fantastic breakfast guys - thanks very much.

Popped in for a carvery on Tuesday 19th 5.30, after a few days in Windsor on our way back to Nottingham. We got there just before it went really busy. The food was lovely and hot but I wanted to say how great the chap was looking after us. He was so busy but clearly kept on top of it all the best he could and was always making sure everything was ok for everyone. My little girl was so pleased with icecream! Unfortunately there was a large table of 7 'rude' adults next to us that were very demanding of his time, left lots of food and mess! I was embarrassed but he handled them well and had back from a lady staff member. But thank you it was a lovely stop after a few long days.

I am not usually disappointed with Tobey Carverys, but this time I was.Although we had booked for a family meal the table wasn't ready when we arrived.What was amazing was that at 5pm there was no turkey available. My partner and I used to come here fairly often a few years ago but havent been able to for a while due to circumstances. But we decided that we would bring my elderly Mum and try out the new Wheelchair! Staff so accommodating and friendly and eager to place us somewhere that was safe and secure. Go for your carvery and always get plenty of meat compared to other Toby's we have visited. The rest of the veg hot and very appetizing and if your not pleased with it then that's your problem for putting it on your plate. The Manager (I think) has been there for years and always cheeky, welcoming and friendly which I am sure is enthused to the rest of the staff. Love the new decor. My Mum had the treacle sponge both Sundays and is totally hooked. Totally recommend, but dont forget to enter your car details when you enter even though we were reminded on arrival. Reading previous reviews this may of caused a problem in the past.

Came here for food on Boxing Day there was alot of us we were all seated and no one came over to see to us we had to keep asking when we were going to get our starters 40mins went past b4 starters came out we were told there system was down and had no idea what everyone wanted. We had to keep getting up and asking what was going on no one seemed to care. We asked for crayons for the kids 4 times again they didn’t care. The lady waitress and the waiter were both very rude and unprofessional the manager was not around so couldn’t complain at the time. The carvery was dry warm not hot terrible terrible food the desserts were average. Its been much busier on a Sunday awful service I personally would not recommend The Toby at Denham even with its renovation its just as terrible as before.

The food was not very good especially the meat, and the price of £59.99 per head was a waste of money. Never again at Christmas.

Changed the pudding now a tiny rubbish slice. not a patch on the old pudding Mac and cheese tasted like gone off cheese. As a vegetarian it was limited and the cauliflower bake not much better tasting.

Absolutely lovely! Great parking, fantastic restaurant all refurbished, the food is lovely and fresh & the meats aren’t over cooked, plenty of vegetables to choose from, the staff are brilliant and very friendly & professional, I had the 2 course festive menu for £12.49 Carvery & dessert. The beef dripping roast potatoes are amazing!! All in all 10/10 I’ve been a Toby fan for years but this one is without a doubt the best I’ve ever had & the restaurant is lovely and spotlessly clean. I’m not from around here but it’s my second visit in a month & I may even be booking it for Christmas lunch. Highly recommend it to everyone!! Yum!! We came here as a family of nine, we were seated really quickly very quiet table. Told about the drinks and carvery menu, and kids menu also. We all had the same which was the carvery cannot fault at all it was very filling and tasted delicious, the kids had to wait a bit for their meal whilst we ate but that was lovely too. Pudding was amazing and they did a special plate for my niece. Service was friendly polite always with a smile. We will be back.

No meet and greet, queue at the bar, no menu, long queue and wait at depleted deck for non- existent bacon and eggs. Arrangements for bread/ toast etc inconvenient. No table service at all. Great shame as food is good and excellent valve for money - just a few minor tweaks needed to be a winner!
