Very nice establishment with good drink selection and lovely food. The staff were very attentive and polite. The decor is so warm and welcoming and the new management have done a great job resurrecting this place back to its former glory. Will definitely be back for more.

Went here for the first time in years and was so impressed. After a recent refurbishment it was cosy and welcoming. The food was all 10/10 and the service was spot on. This will definitely be a new regular for us.

Great food as usual. Had a roast and the veg was fresh as ever and the meat was beautiful. We both had beef. The staff were friendly and attentive. Always a place to get great quality grub.

Loved this place. Went for dinner after work with friends. Staff were friendly, service was excellent and food was delicious. They had a set menu which had a great selection. It was a lovely cosy pub with lots of room and car park at the back. I will definitely be going back.

We had a lunch to celebrate my brother’s birthday . The ambience of the pub was friendly and pleasant . Service from Ben and his colleague was prompt and helpful . We enjoyed our meals , the chicken wing starter was particularly tasty . 3 of our part had the pan fried salmon which was tasty and nicely cooked. My bruschetta starte was beautifully presented as was the chill con carne which came with separate sour cream and guacamole . The brownies with the mini puds were delicious . I would definitely come here again for a family meal and the third off food on a Monday is very good value

Question: What could possibly ruin a tasty meal in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere? Answer: A disinterested, inattentive, and unapologetic waitress. She was beyond bad. So, here's the scoop. Love the atmosphere and the varied menu. The food was well prepared, decent in portion size. Here's the bad part. Our waitress, although not technically rude, was incredibly unhelpful (and mostly absent). She made us feel as if we were an imposition to something more important. Did not submit a special request, never checked on the table after taking the order and delivering an incomplete meal (didn't bring all of the requested items), did not check up on a second drink order (losing money for her boss), and never showed up with our bill, even though when we arrived and inquired at the bar about table service, the bartender had said the server would take our payment. In the end, after waiting and waiting, we fetched the bartender, who was very apologetic, and he processed our payment from the table, which obviously removed him from his customers at the bar. He said she had left for the day. In the service industry, it's typically customary to tell diners that a different server will be taking over - at least that's my experience after having travelled professionally for all of my life, and having visited over 30 different countries and thousands of dining venues in the process. So the poor performance of one person has a ripple effect (and not a good one). Would I come back? Probably, as long as I had a different server! Our friends, however, who live a few miles away, said they would find another place next time. Shame.

Beautiful, clean pub with excellent food. Good prices too. We would recommend the sharer wings with the sriracha & honey glaze.

I've been to the Black Horse a few times mostly for a drink in the beer garden,I've had one sunday lunch a couple years ago and it was superb unfortunately the same could not be said about today,the restaurant was practically empty at 4 o'clock, myself and 2 colleagues arrived and were told there was only chicken left but we went with it,we ordered a drink which took 20 minutes to arrive,when the two chicken dinners and one burger dinner arrived almost an hour later it was very disappointing, 3 burnt potatoes,dry chicken,a Yorkshire pudding tiny portion of broccoli a handful of peas and an orangey mash,a hopefully trained chef sent this dinner out,very poor,after saying I wasn't impressed as I only ate a quarter of it we were given a 10% discount, so very disappointed.

Although I live just around the corner and have not been in recently, I was surprised at the bar staff saying they don't accept £50 notes normally. Come on guys get a device that determines fake notes. Other than that it's a nice visit on a sunny Friday afternoon.

The pub looks nicer from the inside than outside which set expectations high. On our visit, there were multiple draught beers not available though. Food quality was OK but the quantities were way below the expected. I am a big eater when I do and went for the fish and chips, the large portion. The fish filled half the length of the plate and appeared to be half a fish. The chips were under the fish and barely hit double figures. Served with garden peas in a tiny jar, this could have been served on a side plate. What is the small portion, a single fish finger? After leaving, I went to get another meal... Definitely not on my favourite list, unfortunately.

Sunday Lunch meal for 4. Lamb shank was very good. Stylish pub, love the comfortable and clean wood finish. Waiting staff were attentive and efficient.

We were a group of 20 people and ordered food and drinks. The food took over an hour to come and a couple of our friends didn’t even receive the food. When we asked where the food was, we were told it had already been served. They refused to send out the 3 starters that were missing even though it had all been paid for and they could see that the 2 people hadn’t eaten. As diners, you would expect the staff and management to look after their customers, but instead, they were rude and aggressive!!! We have never experienced anything like this before and will avoid this place in future. If I could give a zero, I would. Staff are inexperienced and can’t handle a group of 20 diners!! In my honest opinion, I am certain they treated us poorly because we were from an ethnic minority. AVOID AVOID!!

The food was okay, but sadly the service was not up to par. The large group of over 20 of us contributed to a positive atmosphere. It was disappointing to learn two of our guests didn't receive their order and since we were asked to place and pay for food and drink orders at the bar, payment had been taken for food they didn't receive. There was no apology, nor a refund. If anything the waitress and especially the manager were extremely rude. This is not what you would expect from management of any business, they clearly have no respect for customers and would benefit from a course on this! I have been to many Black Horse Pubs, this is by far the worst. Management need to learn from the best such as neighbouring 'Black Horse pubs'. Avoid this one like the plague!!

A real typical English pub. The service is fast. The meals are plentiful and delicious.

I had a fantastic time at The Black Horse today! The pub itself was super clean and had a great atmosphere, both beautiful and relaxed. Kaisey and Sam, our servers, were amazing. Kaisey was a real gem; she took care of all our dietary needs and made sure everything we had was delicious. The whole experience with the friendly staff and great ambience made for a wonderful night out with my family.

I popped in to take a look as they have had a bit of a "refit and new management team" I was hopeful that I would see some improvements. Unfortunately that was not the case still the same couldn't give a toss attitude amongst the staff couldn't see what had changed. I was hoping for a nice pint of real ale but all three were off which I was a bit surprised at, as I would have thought that Hall and Woodhouse would make a bit of effort in that respect. Had a pint of kegged ale which I have to say tasted great but was very gassy, my wife had a small prosseco was very surprised by the price which was £16.75 a bit over priced! The next day I was in London and we had the same drinks in a bar on Haymarket next to His majesty's theater it was only £12.65 which sort of confirms it. Won't be going back to Black horse too soon.

The service and staff 10/10. Just brilliant! Food was very good but slightly small portions but still very good.

This was a great unexpected find. We could not fault the food, the best fish and chips I have had in years. The staff and were super friendly and very attentive. Dog friendly, we will certainly be visiting again. I highly recommend.

If I could put 0 I would. Didn’t even stay for food as the glasses were so dirty. We arrived and the staff were reluctant to show us to our table, then the staff started arguing amongst each other. We then went to order and they refused to serve 1 person on the table alcohol and therefore wouldn’t serve anyone on the table alcohol which is absolutely not the law as we are all 30 and above!!!! When we queried this with the manager he said he could only agree with his colleague and there was nothing they could do. They were both extremely rude and I definitely wouldn’t return. There are much nicer pubs in the area, avoid this one.

Stopped here on the way back from Heathrow and it was a perfect choice. Food all freshly cooked, homemade comfort food! Yum! Children's portions are super generous (not complaining) Money well spent! Thank you x p.s I recommend the fish pie.

Great location, not far from city and feel like in countryside. Easy access and parking available, not far from Flowerland and Uxbridge and outside ulez zone so best place to meet up friend and not bound with the charge for ulez

Incredible service - friendly staff, made you feel very welcome. Kept an eye on the table (never went without drinks). Food came quick and hot. Great burgers with lovely additions. The roast dinners had an immaculate array of vegetables - not just the boring cabbage and carrots. Delicious desserts - would recommend the cheesecake to all. Overall, great place and can’t wait to come again!!

We went to the Black Horse for Mother’s Day lunch. Staff were very friendly and helpful, kept checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our food and offering us drinks. The food was incredible, very large roast dinners and good portion sizes. Kids meals were delicious too. Seeing as it was Mother’s Day we treated ourselves to dessert, all the desserts were homemade and amazing! We had the brownie and the biscoff cheesecake and the kids enjoyed the ice cream 😍 my dad requested an Irish coffee which wasn’t on the menu but they made it for him anyway. At the end of the meal us mums in the group were gifted a mini bottle of gin and some chocolates which we were very happy with, such a lovely gesture! Overall a lovely pub with yummy food and a friendly atmosphere, I’m sure we will be back!

Went in here for a lunchtime meal for two. Easy parking, good looking pub, and shown to a table straight away. We had the fish pie (excellent), and the steak and tanglefoot pie. The pie was wonderful, stuffed full of meat, great gravy and lovely braised red cabbage. We will definitely be back. It was a little bit quiet when we went, so not much atmosphere, but we were told it gets a lot busier at weekends and evenings.

We went here for Christmas dinner. The party included my wife daughter and her partner and my grand daughters. I had soup Christmas dinner and pudding. The service was very friendly. My daughter is a fussy eater and her wishes were accommodated. This place is well worth another visit

Been here many times without any issues, but today was a special 80th birthday lunch for Mum. Kasey looked after us and made it feel extra special, referring to us all by name, adding a birthday card to the table for my mum from the blackhorse team. Had a fantastic fish pie. Plenty of fish and super tasty. Wife had a club sandwich which was massive.

If you want burnt roast potatoes and minimal gravy this is the place for you. We went for our work Christmas lunch and there was around 20 of us who ate and had drinks. The service was poor, the only ok one was mason! The potatoes were so burnt on our roast dinner and it was SO QUIET in there so absolutely no excuse. We asked the waiter for more and she advised we were unable to have more, even though they were unedible? There was the smallest amount of gravy in which we had to ask for more and then we’re told after that we werent allowed any more gravy which should be standard when you had so much money out of our “party” The turkey was so dry it was hardly eaten! And the dessert had minimal custard we had to keep asking for more ! Won’t be returning here the only good thing was the drinks . Disappointed 😔

We went here today for our Christmas lunch and there was 20 of us and the food was appalling and we did not even receive a Sorry or any kind of discount on our food. The staff were so rude, but Mason was ok! We had the roast and some had fish pie which was small portion and very dry,The potato’s were so burnt and shrivelled and unable to eat them, and the turkey was SO DRY. When we asked for new potato’s we were told there was not any non burnt ones we could have. We asked for more gravy as there was the tiniest bit on each plate and then they brought out a few more then was told no more gravy for our party. Then the dessert came out and the custard was non existent, we had to ask for more which they did bring. The drinks were good but will not be returning !

A lovely looking little pub. That is the only positive thing I have to say! Arrived at just gone 8 on a Friday evening, hoping for a quiet drink and some dinner. It's not often we get a Friday night with no children, so as we enter our eardrums are blasted by the dj stood literally just inside the front door. Nobody else was in the bar area, but at all the furthest points in the place from the dj and the bar. After shouting at the barmaid to see if they had a table for us, we were told they just needed to clean a table and that we could wait in the bar area. So we ordered a drink and perched ourselves at a table, not talking, because we couldn't hear each other. After around 20 minutes, a miserable lad brought us to a table, a bit quieter in the restaurant area, thankfully, so we sat down to look at the menu, sipping our drinks and chatting. After around another 20 to 25 minutes of being ignored by the miserable looking waiter, we caught his attention and asked if we could order. He kind of asked us to bear with and disappeared again. After another 5 minutes, the girl from the bar came over all apologetic and informed us the kitchen was now closed and that the chef(s) were not interested in cooking anything else. So here we are, at almost 9 pm on a Friday night in a restaurant with half a drink still and no food making its way to us. Couldn't be more annoyed as by now, we have no options for dinner locally at all. We are fairly local and had popped in for a pint previously and had liked it in there, but we will most definitely not be returning. There are plenty of other places locally that are just as nice to look at and probably a lot more pleased to serve you!

I consider going out to a pub for dinner a treat. Unfortunately, the pub had issues on the evening we visited. We ordered food - very basic - salad and a starter - and it never arrived. We asked multiple times - no food. We had to leave without eating - the manager was not available for the refund. I emailed. I fb msgd. I popped in. Eventually I received the refund after 3 weeks. No apologies. It used to be my favourite local but I haven’t gone back.

Advertised as Dog Friendly and brought Friends who came down for the weekend and my Little Cockapoo. I was advised by our Waiter if my dog keeps barking I will have to take her outside. It was poring down with rain and the reason she barked was because she was tormented by 2 little children and I did say this. Our Waiter made me feel unconfutable and not once did he smile or make me feel at ease. I was very stressed and will never go there again. Dogs bark no where did it say if your dog barks you have to leave your meal and sit out on the rain. By the way out little dog is still learning and she is only 17 months. The food was ok but I felt rushed and on edge. The dog did not actually bark one the 2 little children moved away. Never again will I step foot in there way to grumpy.

Nice looking place, inviting, tidy, and clean. Nachos to start were good, and drinks are cold. Service is slow, but with only seeing two people serving dining customers and the bar at the same, it's a staffing numbers issue! The food is good (recommending the onion rings) but sadly a salad main meal was served on a hot plate which cooked the lettuce and the dressing was too runny - saturating the croutons and chicken bits in breadcrumbs making it a bit soggy! Other than that, it's a winner!

GREAT environment, outdoor and indoor area. Kid-friendly with good variety of food for the kids. GREAT cheeseburger on Sundays. We enjoyed our time at Black Horse with 3 kids.

Excellent food and drink for the price point. Service was swift and friendly. Car Park is a bit of a weird design, and not space for many cars but other than that would definitely recommend.

We visited Go Ape and this was recommended by the staff...we had seen a different pub on the way in but gave this a go and very happy we did. Looks lovely outside and in.. friendly welcome as we came in, a good selection of food too. Both went for sandwiches with chips, my order was not exactly as the menu said but they were happy to accommodate..Nice drinks too. Probably won't go back as we rarely ever do but happy to recommended the place!

Two of our party had the roast beef it was very dry & over cooked. One had chicken it was on the bone if they had said that on the menu they would not have ordered it.

Our last ever visit. Used to go once a week. Met family, sandwiches were very poor for the price. It is all about cost-profit, value has no place in their offering anymore.

Anyone looking for some quality pub grub needs to head here. My daughter and i's favourite place to grab a bite

Really good attentive service from both the waiter and bar tender. We visited for a lunch with work and stayed on to do some activities and they were really accommodating. We sat outside in the sun for drinks and inside the restaurant for lunch.
