Staff are very efficient and friendly. Food is really nice with a very wide selection of meats and vegetables and plenty of gravy. Husband went large and just had the lamb but got plenty. Always busy on a Sunday but don't feel rushed into eating quickly. Can't think of anything to improve on really.

Meat was good. Roasties overcooked. Vegetables nice but why oh why do you persist with cauliflower cheese. No place for cheese on a roast but assuming you are pandering to vegetatians then please put the cheese sauce seperate. Service was great as usual.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a family gathering to celebrate Mum/Nanna's/ Great Nanna's 88th Birthday. We did book in advance as there were 11 of us, no problem with seating us together, and they were able to accommodate all dietary needs. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful evening

16 of us went for an 80th birthday meal. Staff were amazing especially Sarah who couldn't do enough for us all. They were all so friendly. Food was delicious. The best carvery I have ever had.place was spotless too. Highly recommend

The chef clearly had a sore hand; he carved the meat so thinly, you could see through it. It was clear that he gave more to the regulars. This was our first time and our last. The food was not particularly hot. I was also disappointed that I could not use more than one voucher.

Awful experience ordered 2 roast and 1 child’s roast for myself and children as I’m unwell and unable to get out , paid £30 so wasn’t cheap but thought be a decent meal for us all , despite asking for stuffing on all meals received burnt scraps on one meal , all potato’s were burnt and stiff was a challenge to pull apart with both hands and the Yorkshire puddings were stiff could not be softened even after leaving in gravy honestly I cried at this as I am so unwell and really hoped for a nice dinner for myself and children contacted the formby carvery and they just told me to speak to Uber eats despite Uber eats delivery being spot on the food was obviously prepared by staff at the carvery and in my opinion they thought they would pass off all the crap to us as we not physically there absolutely disgusting

We stopped here as it was a convenient place to meet family. It worked out really well as everyone could just grab what they wanted. The meats were all great and veg were nicely cooked. The stuffing was an unexpected highlight! You know what you're getting with a Toby Carvery. Nice place, clean and tidy and all the staff we spoke to were helpful.

I am writing this review by way of a complaint about the Bay Horse. My elderly in laws love the Bay Horse, as well as other local Toby Carvery venues, and are regular visitors using gift vouchers bought for them by ourselves and other family members. I recently purchased a gift voucher from Miller & Carter as a wedding anniversary present for them. I enquired at the point of purchase as to whether the vouchers could be redeemed at Toby Carvery and was assured that they could, as well as at any venue under the banner of Mitchell’s and Butlers group inc Harvester, Ego, Ember Inns etc. I have bought gift cards from Miller & Carter before and they have been redeemed at Toby Carvery venues. On Sunday, 18th August my in-laws visited the Bay Horse and enjoyed a carvery lunch. At the conclusion of the meal they offered the gift voucher by way of payment and were told that the Bay Horse do not accept the Miller& Carter gift cards. My in-laws explained that they had used Miller & Carter gift cards previously and they asked if the waitress could check with management. They were told in no uncertain terms that she didn’t have to check as she knew for a fact that they couldn’t be used. My. In-laws, who are both in their late 80s were embarrassed, but more to the point, were forced to pay for the meal with money they can barely afford. I have since researched the terms and conditions, and checked the websites of both Miller & Carter and Toby Carvery. Both clearly state that they are part of the Mitchell and Butler group and that their respective gift cards can be redeemed at each other’s venues. This leads to the conclusion that either both websites are providing misleading and incorrect information OR the staff at Toby Carvery are wrong. Both cannot be correct, but my in-laws were not offered any explanation as to when the terms and conditions changed. If they have indeed changed recently then the websites need to be updated and amended as a matter of urgency before some other individuals suffer the same humiliating and upsetting experience.I would welcome some feedback from either the Toby Carvery or Mitchell and Butler group as to how this situation has occurred.

The service was wonderful. The lady that served us was so very extra friendly and helpful because one of our guests was particularly difficult and awkward (as he is blind and so quite demanding) and as such wanted a sandwich because, being blind, he doesn’t like to eat in public with a knife and fork because he can get messy. While out, he always choses food he can eat with his fingers because it’s less messy for him. Unfortunately he was told you don’t serve sandwiches on a Sunday. Fortunately, the lady serving us made a special effort to fulfil his request and he was given an amazing roast dinner sandwich. Thank you so much. We had a lovely time.

Been to this Toby carvery once before, and we enjoyed it so much, we travelled here again from Stoke-on-Trent! The best Toby carvery ever! Roast parsnips and more variety of veggies than any other I've visited. Staff are really attentive too. Top class!

1st roast for ages was fab and the whole place has had an update since I last visited my little girl was made to feel special as she went in the pretend vip lane so we didn't have to walk around the ropes as she's now a big sister

A great place to take the grandchildren for dinner on a day out. Service was exceptional from a team of polite courteous staff with good food for adults and children at a reasonable price.

We eat here often as a family and the food is always stunning. Always tastes fresh! One of the best roast dinners you can get. My boyfriend went for the first time a few weeks ago and he loved it - he didn't have high expectations but definitely changed his mind. Good price and always offers on too. Loved it's our regular place to eat some of the reviews do not match our experiences never had a bad meal or over charged visited loads of times ping to breakfast with santa with grandchildren went last year everybody loved it the restaurant is being remodelled next few weeks reopens 8 th February can't wait

Made to feel so welcome by the staff they where amazing with our family We was celebrating our daughters birthday they sang happy birthday to her, our son has autism and the staff where absolutely amazing and the man who did the carvery was lovely very friendly we will be definitely be coming back all staff where amazing especially Gemma she was so lovely made our family night special thank you so much

Went for breakfast on Monday. Wow one of the best breakfast I had in a long time. The bacon was cooked perfectly. The mushrooms was very fresh. Had to wait for a couple of eggs which was fine as didn’t want a rubbery one.

Even though it was extremely busy, the staff took a few seconds to welcome us and the service was still excellent.

Went today for the over 60 deal. Glad we did excellent food and service. Had the big boys plate and struggled to finish plenty of meat and everything hot. Staff are just as you want them pleasant happy bunch. Will be back but might not be so greedy 😂

barely any food left, no pork no green beans no carrots

Carvery, had 3 veg dishesthat were empty, only scraps of pork left, beef was very fatty. Only one member of staff working. Definitely got worse since we have been going there , so we won't be going back, first time we have left there disappointed. The only plus side was the staff who were excellent.

The staff and chef was very friendly and helpful, the choice of meat and vegetables was amazing. Everything had lovely flavours, everything was perfect, we will definitely be coming back soon and will tell family and friends.

My favourite place to go! I absolutely love coming here, I rarely book as I don't know when I'm working until last minute and no matter when or how many people I come with they always manage to squeeze me in! The foods delish and the girls serving are all lovely!

Choose carvery as to the last time we visited it was lovely.. well what I can I say apart from I was very disappointed.. I’ve seen fatter paper to the meat I was served and the veg well I’ve got to go the dentist as I’ve chipped my teeth with the rock hard potatoes and cauliflower. Enough said🦷

A difficult time eating cauliflower so hard it hurt my teeth !!! Meat so thin it dissolved in the gravy , Not always as bad as this visit I have to be honest .

Very well run/organised. Very busy Sunday carvery but quick service prevented build up of queue. Lovely friendly waitress keeping an eye on everything. Not pub's fault but selfish contractor van parked in disabled space, also overhanging the adjacent disabled space! We just managed to squeeze on. By time we left the van had gone so couldn't show manager.

It was a busy early evening when we visited this restaurant in Formby. My wife and sister in law chose the traditional carvery but I picked the salmon and prawn wellington. My dish was taking ages to appear so the others decided to get in the carvery queue. Still nothing had arrived by the time my companions had got their ample carvery plates back to the table. I waited another few minutes and then went to investigate. My food was under the hot lights on the serving counter...who knew? Lastly when I opened up the crunchy wellington crust I found what was on the menu... salmon ok but just the one yes 1 prawn as per the menu listing. I wasn't expecting that disappointment.

Myself had been to this Toby before and this was my second time visiting. Both times we were served by a lady called Sarah, who is absolutely lovely. Sarah was very friendly and welcoming. I was really happy that she was looking after us on that day. As was my grandad who had been served by her twice before.

First visit since the refurb. Glad to see food is still good quality, nice generous portions for your money, and staff friendly and ready to help but disappointed in the reduced wheelchair access. A whole area now with a step and I can't remember the toilet being so difficult to get into before. Maybe it has and I put it down to it being old because it's never been perfect but I was really hoping the refurb would improve it. This time it felt like there was less floor space to get into the toilet before my wheelchair was hitting the toilet, a total excersise to close the door after me. It takes a lot of manoeuvering to get in and then a broken spine to dry hands from your wheelchair before leaving because of the lack of turning circles. It's really put a dent in my enjoyment of a nice carvery.

Visited in half term with our 4 young children and could not have been made more welcome, the waitress was so so lovely I honestly wanted to take her with me when I left 🤣 food was great and we left very full indeed!

Lovely Carvery with Turkey, Pork, Beef and Gammon! A pleasant and cheerful waitress made our visit more friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that the Cauliflower was hard and undercooked for my taste. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said that if you mention it at the Servery when getting your meal they will cook a portion of Cauliflower to your taste. Well worth knowing! We returned with a party of seven last Friday and everything was excellent. We asked for soft Cauliflower which was duly prepared. I noticed so many other customers also wanted it I wonder if that should be the permanent option? Many thanks for an excellent meal and great service. It's great to see that you care about the feedback you get as so many pubs and restaurants seem indifferent.

We booked for 7.30pm on a Saturday and the place was deserted. They finished serving at 9 pm. Poor showing for a Saturday night.

Had breakfast this morning. Been here many times in the past and loved the food.Big drop in standards this time which hopefully will be a one off . Had to wait ten minutes at the bar before somebody appeared to take order. Approaching eleven o'clock the staff began their breakfasts.Having jovial slanging match at each other using four language. Overall not impressed. Hoping one off. . . but staff has changed.

Really enjoyed my experience with a 3 and 4 year old. Staff positioned myself and two young children beside open fire exit. They checked this was okay which it was being a warm day. Staff member who served us was very good with the children. Order was taken quickly and drinks were brought to the table equally quickly. I had carvery and two children and sausage and Yorkshire. Service was mainly excellent although there was a short period where I waited at the end to request the bill. Enjoyed our visit. My only criticism is the smaller childs meals were not obvious on the menu everything kind of merges. I would have ordered the mini sausages and Yorkshire had it been clearer.
