I recently visited Toby Carvery and ordered two turkey carveries—and I have to say, it really hit the spot. The food was extremely nice, with the turkey cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh, warm, and generously portioned. What really made the experience even better was the staff. They were lovely—super helpful, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. It’s clear they care about providing great service, which added a personal touch to the meal. If you're after a hearty, traditional roast in a relaxed setting, I’d definitely recommend Toby Carvery.

Called in at Toby Formby for breakfast and we were not disappointed, food great staff fantastic so accommodating to my family nothing was a bother. Cliff served us and as a company you are very lucky to have such a lovely person working for you, the whole atmosphere of the restaurant felt good. Well done all.

Mother’s Day and it wasn’t busy, which may be due to the atmosphere. There were staff around the bar, laughing and chuckling rather than serving the customers. The quality of the food was OK but the flagship Yorkshire puddings were very poor. Overall, probably one of the worst Toby experiences I have had however I’ve been here twice previously and it was fine, hence three stars. Hopefully, they’ll take this on the chin and try and improve.

Amazing food, best carvery in Liverpool! Our server was Sarah, she was such a lovely lady, wished my mum a happy Mother’s Day! Just a lovely person inside and out and such nice manners. She really did look after us. Atmosphere was lovely very positive and happy, chefs were very chatty and talkative too, lovely meal, thank you!

We had to wait ages in a long queue for our meal. The poor man carving the meat was run off his feet! Despite the head chef coming Out a number of times and not picking up on the problem. I would not recommend it. When we finally got back to the table my wife's pot of tea was cold.

Vinimos para un asado de domingo familiar y esta es sin duda la mejor carvery en la que he estado. Éramos 6 de nosotros en nuestra fiesta y gracias a Dios que habíamos reservado ya que el pub estaba lleno. Aun así, fuimos recibidos por un amable miembro del personal y mostrado a nuestra mesa tan pronto como llegamos. Nuestro cortador Steph era muy encantador y tomó nuestros pedidos de bebidas rápidamente y dijo que podíamos subir al carvery cuando quisiéramos. Había un poco de cola para el carvery, pero esto no fue un problema, de hecho prefiero un carvery para estar ocupado, ya que la comida se repone regularmente. La carne estaba sabrosa, y el beneficio de ir el fin de semana es el cordero! Gran variedad de verduras, y mención especial hay que hacer para las chirivías asadas y patatas asadas, delicioso! Los 6 teníamos diferentes combinaciones y todos estábamos contentos. Definitivamente volveremos.

First visit to this carvery, impressed with fresh food and friendly staff. Lot nicer than other carveries we visit. Also nicely decorated and nice atmosphere. Will visit again.

We are very regular visitors to the Bay Horse. It is good value for money and the quality for the money is excellent. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. My only gripe is that a small bottle of sparkling water costs more than a half of shandy!

2 x carvery and everything was spot on. Stella and Merlot spot on too. Staff very pleasant and brought everything we ordered to our table.

Always a great meal here. Steph our server always goes the extra mile to help make it an excellent visit. 5 stars for steph. This is our favourite toby by far. Keep up the good work

Wonderful Sunday lunch Best toby carvery I've ever been to. Really good choice of vegetables. Meat was excellent.staff really lovely. Can't find any fault at all

Was very busy. Understandable on a Sunday. When we walked in the man on the desk, didn't even look up, and ignored us for a minute then said Name?! Was seen to a table in the smallest corner with a fireplace right behind one of the chairs, so it was a struggle to get up and down to food and drink stations. The server, which I assume was per area, was very busy, as there was a large table in the area too. Took a while to get her attention for the bill, but she was very polite. Won't be rushing back to this one.

Really enjoyed our carvery tonight. The staff were all very friendly and looked after us well, and the food was so good and so filling. Quieter than I thought it would be on a Saturday evening but a nice friendly atmosphere.

Am regular here, our waitress today steph, she superb, very efficient and looks after you well. Very pleasant, carvery very nice food, had a fruit crumble pudding. Two course deal great price. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic carvery , I travelled from Southport via the x2 bus to visit , the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the carvery was truly fabulous . It's a lovely little place to go to.

Omg . Went for the breakfast wowwww. Absolutely amazing.

The Bay Horse has been beautifully refurbished which made us feel very comfortable from the start. We were seated at a table very quickly & attended by our server without delay. We found the food to be excellent, still hot & not dried up at all so very enjoyable. Our server was fabulous (so sorry I didn't get here name). Can't think of improvements to suggest but can congratulate for the food & other marked improvements from our past experiences which were on occasions somewhat disappointing.

The staff and venue are always good. The food was very disappointing on this visit. The roast potatoes were a cross between baked potatoes and roast potatoes. Food was not as hot as on our 2 previous visits.

Great service, and you couldn't fault the food. It was busy and the staff were great, with the turnover of food it was fresh.

Formby changed our reservation at last minute on our request with no problem, the waitress was very nice, the food was hot and tasty as usual

It was absolutely packed out, yet all the staff were happy, calm and professional despite the obvious pressure. We had pre-booked and were shown to our table on time, and were met by our waitress promptly. She was excellent. We got our food quickly despite the queues, as the food was plentiful and the staff behind the counter were efficient. The food was top quality. Your staff in this branch are an absolute credit to your company. Working as a team, thriving under pressure and friendly to your customers. 10 out of 10.

Most delicious carvery ever , such quality and piping hot

My Mum suggesting coming here for dinner after seeing an e.mail pop up with a 50% discount offer! We wouldn’t normally come to Formby as we live in Southport but I have to say we all agreed how fabulous it was, the food was delicious but the best part of the evening was the service, all the staff we so friendly and lovely but we really want to give the biggest shout out to Nicky who really made our visit so special, she is a real credit and couldn’t do enough to help! Thanks Nicky it was lovely meeting you! X

Brilliant best toasties I've had we love it

writing this review as we are sat in the pub. I’ve never had such good service in a toby and we do frequent them especially visiting family up and down the country. This one stands out by far. The gentleman who greeted us and seated us was lovely, the 3 chefs we saw had time for everyone, super polite, offering to help some kids get their carveries sorted, greeting people in the queue. Maybe it’s because Formby is a nice area itself but this honestly feels like a local haunt and everyone knows each other. Then the lady who cleared our table was lovely too! Honestly a pleasant surprise & a lovely meal. We live in the city centre but I’d probably pass the other closer Toby’s up for this one! We’ll be back. Just what we needed after a cold beach walk.

This is without doubt the best Toby carvery myself and my partner have been eating here for a few years now carvery is always amazing well presented and hot and the staff are all amazing very friendly and welcoming the manageress is fabulous nothing is too much trouble for any staff member would definitely recommend this restaurant

Very popular place. It is essential to book prior to visiting. Food was good. Meat tender and tasty, fab roast potatoes and a great range of vegetables. Lovely meal

Can anybody even complain about this place? The waiters are so polite and so friendly. The Christmas vibe and decorations made me feel like I'm a guest in a house, not just in some kind of establishment. Well, it was hard to finish the food, because the portions are big, the prices are decent and the flavor is on top. If anyone is in Formby and have to go for a dinner, this place is a must. I liked the variety of meats and sides too.

Massive thank you to the manager, didn’t catch her name, blonde lady who managed to fit us in when it was very busy today! All the staff were lovely. One of the nicest roasts we have had for a while.

Been a while since we last dined in, but not disappointed. Sunday roast with lamb...delicious. Only missing the herb roast potatoes to make a perfect afternoon. Busy but did not feel cramped and was not rushed by the serving staff, who struck the perfect balance with attentiveness.

Whole visit was lovely. Staff are super, friendly, helpful. Best customer service. Food was delicious, great portions, lots of variety, beautiful.

We booked our annual staff and client Christmas meal on Friday 6th December. Carol and her team looked after us so well and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble the whole afternoon was a breeze and a delight and the food was delicious, our guys thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The last couple of times I visited the vegetables were below par, especially the sprouts, and the roast potatoes slightly undertook.

Algunos de los Toby Carveries ya han cerrado y no es sorprendente. Eran anticuados y bastante desastrosos en algunas áreas. Dejamos de ir. Nuestro local, Toby Carvery en Formby es magnífico. Decidimos probarlo después de que hubieran tenido un mini cambio de imagen dentro. Si bien el cambio de imagen es agradable, la comida y la presentación real es fabulosa. Piping caliente, generoso y más opciones de verduras, etc. el personal es tan amable. Ahora somos asiduos y animaríamos a cualquiera como nosotros que hubiera sido postergado en el pasado a darle una visita a este.

Good service,great offers,no long waiting

Went in last night about 6pm We had to wait to get our carvery but we didn’t mind at all as the carver was making sure the was not fat on my pork or beef. The was a nice selection of fresh vegetables my favourite was the mash potato. Didn’t have a pudding as too full As we went to pay we got mentioned about the rewards system they have which the the host helped us download it and got our points plus 25% wow what great service

Lovely! Much nicer than the Ormskirk Toby. Staff all very friendly & attentive. Food was spot on too. We had a lovely lady called Steph, (that was the name on receipt anyway) look after us and she really couldn’t have been nicer. Will definitely return!

Meat was good. Roasties overcooked. Vegetables nice but why oh why do you persist with cauliflower cheese. No place for cheese on a roast but assuming you are pandering to vegetatians then please put the cheese sauce seperate. Service was great as usual.

Staff are very efficient and friendly. Food is really nice with a very wide selection of meats and vegetables and plenty of gravy. Husband went large and just had the lamb but got plenty. Always busy on a Sunday but don't feel rushed into eating quickly. Can't think of anything to improve on really.

I love coming to the formby toby, I usually come here with my girlfriends but thought I'd treat my family as I'm always telling them how good it is! Safe to say they weren't disappointed! Delicious food and the waitress was lovely.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a family gathering to celebrate Mum/Nanna's/ Great Nanna's 88th Birthday. We did book in advance as there were 11 of us, no problem with seating us together, and they were able to accommodate all dietary needs. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful evening
