Nice little pub. Went here after a day at the beach with my daughter and father in law. It was quiet for a Sunday afternoon but the weather was superb. Dog friendly and the food was great! Highly recommend!

2 years since my last visit. How it's changed, Unfortunately for the worse. Just had probably the worst Sunday roast of my 72 years, I had to give 1 star as it doesn't have zerothe tables in the area I was in needed cleaning as well (table 11)

The Pinewood is a great pub in the heart of Formby, very friendly people all-round.

I wanted to call out the staff working while the England semi final game was on. Pub was busy, every table taken and the service and food was fantastic. Despite the fact they were really busy, didn't have to wait long for a drink 🍷🍺 Thanks again, Dan, Kayleigh, Luke and Ryan on the bar and Mike and Amanda in the kitchen.

Went here for food after a lovely day out at Formby beach. The staff were very friendly, service was quick and you can easily order food and drink straight to your table using the app. The food was very nice and reasonably priced, I had steak and asked for medium rare, it was nicely cooked and decent size, my friends also enjoyed their meals.

Big shout out to Dan for sorting our 50% off food order on Monday 17th June (day after the England game offer). With limited info from head office and the Till system going down he managed to sort the bill out. Dan was also very quick to rectify a missing item on the meal I had ordered and made the overall dinning experience an enjoyable one. Food was lovely and we will be returning Friday for the same offer!!

Had a serious complaint regarding this awful pub and I contacted stone gate customer services by email they didn’t even have the decency to get back to me no wonder this pub is going down hill if this is how the owners stone gates behave

Absolutely awful food - fish was as if it had been cooked 3 times before it was brought out, the chips were stringy and soggy and the peas were dried up. My son's steak was more fat than meat and he was less than impressed and for a 14 year old who hoovers anything off a plate that says a lot. It's not the first time I've had an appalling meal at this place - I had hoped it was a one off the last time but no, it seems to be a recurring theme - I won't be going back. I'm not interested in money back, or a free meal, or a call back or a conversation with the manager. Since Stonegate bought this pub it has gone completely downhill food wise and turned into a trashy place with slot machines, tv's and pool tables - it never used to have this stuff and people liked it for that. It's time people were made aware of just how much Stonegate has destroyed this pub and taken away from it everything that people liked. If it's not the appalling food, it's the open mic nights and the drunken idiots who hang around outside making loads of noise late at night. I long for the day they have to sell it and it falls back into private ownership so a proper Chef can be employed again (I think her name was Katie?) and allowed to flex their culinary muscles and make this pub the amazing place it used to be. The food actually tasted like somebody had cooked it recently, and the chef's "specials" board was the stuff of legend. Now it's pre packaged rubbish which is reheated half the time and tastes like it. I wouldn't mind so much if the prices reflected this but they dont - premium charges are being applied for definitely NOT premium food. So, go to the other pubs (not The Grapes - Stonegate own that as well) or better still, check out Suay (which is just fabulous), or the myriad of other venues in Formby

Fab local pub with excellent staff always willing to help. New manage Stuart is doing a great job & has recently got Erdinger in after I requested it, so thanks for that. Lucas behind the bar makes this pub worth the visit on his own, top barman!

Popped in for a few drinks with family. Good atmosphere and very dog friendly. Staff are really nice and very accommodating, especially Ryan. Would recommend.

Disappointing, went for our tea only to be told kitchen shut at half 7 on a Saturday, shame we used to go regularly and stay for the night, quickly got to weatherspoons and got exactly what we wanted.

Excellent food with great prices, staff were cheerful friendly and accommodating, will definitely visit again.

Avoid if you have a baby, went with the family for a meal and the chef refused to put the babies food in the microwave for 20 seconds, hiding behind "health and safety", obviously a jobsworth. Even the bar staff were embarrassed when they had to say the chef had refused and said if it was upto them they would. Clearly doesn't have a child and is just being unreasonable causing unnecessary stress to parents, first time we've ever known a pub to take this stance so this isn't a family friendly establishment unfortunately.

First time I have been here today after a walk at ingleton falls on our way home decided to take a detour food was amazing Daniel and staff were lovely pub was warm and welcoming very homely will be going back

A 70's style pub which is clean and inviting, with some good real ales on. Staff friendly, pool table available as is the option to book tables for any big sporting games on the TV. Worth a call in, if you are in the area.

Food OK, hot. Decent portion size. Bar man very friendly. All drinks 1/2 price Monday to Thursday until 4pm I think I read. Haven't been here for around 50 years.

Great place, worth a swing by if you're walking the coastal path. Real ales good and nicely kept and there's a cask loyalty card scheme. Food menus looked great, will give it a try next time!

Poor service no attention from staff on arrival or departure. Dirty menus. Everything needs a good clean in there.The fish looked nice but tasted of nothing just watery. Kids burger terribly presented huge white bun but not much on it. Drinks expensive.

Disappointed, no welcome on entry, or on exit. First choice from menu n/a, fish had no taste whatsoever, kids chicken burger a small piece of chicken on a bun!Menus sticky, we weren't asked if everything was ok or if we would like a dessert.Staff could have looked more professional. We won't be returning.

Visited Formby beach and we were looking for a dog friendly pub to go in afterwards, very glad we found this place! The staff were lovely, they offered Water for our dog after we arrived and came to give her some dog chocolate from the advent calender which I thought was a very lovely touch! Food was also very nice, glad we chose here and we would definitely visit again😁🥰

The food and service was great. Lovely and friendly staff We only went in here for food. . However they have big screen sport and the TV was way too loud but was only turned up after we already ordered.. we were virtually shouting to talk above it. Football was on and the place was far from packed . A few at the bar maybe 8 or 9 watching football.. everyone else was either eating at a table or having a quiet drink. So TV really didn't need to be so loud throughout the pub. . Had we known then we wouldn't have eaten there. It wasn't so loud when we got in but was turned up while we were waiting for our meal.. anyway that said. We enjoyed the food and staff were great and other customers seemed really friendly too. . So I would definitely recommend this place ..it's not fine dining as it's a pub, we but it is very good and great value. . No complaints about anything apart from TV being too loud . When it didn't need to be. . As we could hear it fine before we ordered. I will definitely eat there again if I'm in the area but not if footballs on lol

We enjoy going to the Pinewoods for the selection of food and watching sport on the TV. A good selection. Unfortunately we can’t afford to have a drink as the drinks menu is far too expensive. In fact the drinks menu is far more expensive than on P and O cruise ships.

Visited at lunchtime with 2 friends and 5 dogs! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Set menu was great value and quality. Excellent all round!

ross dinner was worst i’ve ever had , fatty beef only choice of meat , packet dried up mash , frozen roast potatoes , veg was mixed cabbage don’t think it was cooked , few peas, carrots and red onion ? eh luke warm drop of gravy , never again !

We found this pub by mistake we were trying to find Formby point. So we were getting hungry. There was a sign for the pinewoods so we popped in to what was there. Ordered a drink and looked at the menu. Picked our food. To our amazement it was really good. Better than a lot of top restaurants. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Great meal to finish our holiday. Thank you to all concerned

Lovely place to stop for a refreshing drink after a long walk with the dog. We got some starters to share, they were nice. Staff friendly and attentive. Daniel made me laugh as always.

Found nothing wrong with my visit to the Pinewoods, will definitely recommend to family and friends. Service and staff were perfect, I think the managers name was Daniel, he was very attentive and made sure everyone was okay within our party. See you again on my next visit!

What an amazing pub! Tom behind the bar is especially good at his job and very friendly, the food is beautiful and they seem to have all the facilities of a sports bar too. Literally cannot fault it. Thanks also to the kitchen staff. (I simply must recommend the fish finger sub!)

Visited today with my work colleagues. I booked this myself so obviously I felt under pressure for the food to be good. It did not disappoint. I personally had a fish finger sub with was really substantial for a light bite. Really friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Daniel served us at the bar. And Amanda was also really lovely. Will defiantly be back

Called in after walking the dog round the squirrel sanctuary had a meal which was really nice the staff were really helpful and polite Tom the barman was great he was talking to the dog the whole time we were there nice pub nice atmosphere really good food

This was a last minute booking for Mother’s Day so glad we went. From arriving all the staff were lovely,, friendly and helpful. The food was good. Overall a very enjoyable couple of hours, we will be back.

First visit to this pub. Sad to say that although we arrived at 1:10 pm, the day’s special of roast lamb was finished, despite adverts for this choice. Roasts are served 12 - 8. But second choice was excellent - roast pork with everything I would want. Tasty and hot with good portion size. Had sticky toffee rum flavoured pudding with ice cream and a cappuccino. Bill was very reasonable and service was polite friendly and quick. Glitch on in-house app, in that payment was taken but the order did not reach the kitchen, despite receiving confirmatory E-mail. However, food was good, as was ambience, so will return soon.

It's a standard chain pun full of the usual characters of single mums, old men and 18yr olds drinking larger. Food is okay but nothing to write home about. A big plate of beige, but that's exactly what was needed. A decent beer selection, but again, all if your usual suspects of fizzy light largers with a smattering of interesting ales interspersed by your standard doom bars and tribute style ales.

Me and my husband had a great meal at the pinewoods pub today. We choose to go to this pub as the quality of the meals are consistent. Mix grill and vegetarian burger delicious 😋🍔10 out of 10

We went when it was very quiet, so need issues with finding a table. Staff are very friendly and the two meals we had were very good.

Enjoyed the food, friendly staff, liked the quiet, calm atmosphere.

I made several visits to the Pinewoods over the festive period with friends, family, and even a couple of solo excursions. On each occasion I found the staff to be warm, welcoming, attentive and conscientious. On some occasions the pub was very busy, at other times less so - as is the norm, of course - but no matter how busy the pub was (or wasn't) the level of service remained consistently high. On all levels I found a marked improvement on the previous regime. Credit to all the staff and management. Thank you all. I'll be back

13 of us in the party on 27th December. Food was first class; all served together, piping hot and delicious. For all that we had it was reasonably priced. All of the staff were helpful and friendly yet professional. Highly recommend a visit.

A fantastic experience with the family, the event was run free which is unusual these days. The service was friendly and welcoming the kids had a great day and the food was excellent and well priced. This was our first time here and we'll definitely be back.

Excellent Sunday lunch followed Bu England game and quiz night. Place was clean, service excellent and the heating was on which is something that wasn’t on at The Freshfield when we visited earlier in the week. All in all a great experience. Thankyou Pinewoods

Been in since new management, my opinion has gone downhill of this place. Bad atmosphere, don’t like the staff and food is awful. When questioned staff about why my food took one hour they were disinterested and rude even though it was dead in there. Manager didn’t seem to care, Never coming back!
