I have been to toby carvery before but went on Tuesday afternoon and the food looked ok but it was to cold for me to eat did not enjoy the meal at all

The food wasn't up to scratch. The beef was fatty, the Yorkshire puddings were very over done, the veg was ok. We were served by Wes who was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was dull but it was a Monday night and very quiet.

Today , we was served by Adele and Carver’s Cameron, they provided a great services, we are really enjoying the food and we could feel their warm welcome to us.

We’ve been here a lot over the years and Wes is our absolute favourite - very friendly and the food is always good - can’t go wrong with a carvery! Also appreciated the 30% off voucher.

Lovely food, but very understaffed at the minute. The poor staff always look over worked and rushed off their feet! My husband and I are often waiting ages to get our bill or drink order taken.

Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning! Visited Toby Carvery Colwick this evening and was thoroughly disappointed. The service was appalling—tables were messy, full of dirty dishes, and there was no cutlery available. We had to ask to be served because our waitress was too busy dancing and messing around instead of actually doing her job. The chef’s attitude was just as bad, prioritizing takeaway orders over customers who were physically there, leaving us waiting far too long. When I politely asked if there was any more cauliflower cheese, I was met with an eye-roll and a dismissive look—completely unacceptable behavior. I understand they were offering 50% off, but that’s no excuse for such terrible service. If anything, they should have been working harder to maintain standards. Sadly, this visit has put me off entirely, and I won’t be returning. Avoid if you want decent service and a pleasant dining experience! Also seems very suspicious that since I posted this negative review on Trip Advisor, another 4 5* reviews have been added, so mine is not seen on the front page! Very convenient!!

Served at the carvery by Jack. He was friendly, polite and served us with a smile. Food was best I've eaten at a carvery in a long while. Standards are really good. Molly was very attentive, lovely service at the table and made the experience easy without any hassle at all. Will come again.

Served for drinks pretty quickly once sat down. After eating we waited 45 mins for anyone to come to our table. I ended up going to the bar to pay because of this. My daughter wanted to have a pudding and I was waiting to order another drink. We will not be returning.

Basically, it was all nice until. We had finished our dinner and we were waiting for a worker to come to us for 30 mins. Ridiculous! Going to other people but not us!? And it wasn't even busy??

Came in to celebrate my birthday this evening , food was lovely and service by molly was amazing . She bought my dessert out with a candle in singing happy birthday as she overheard it was my birthday which made my day as my daughter was gutted she forgot to bring a candle from home

Came for dinner one night. Waited 15 minutes to sit down. We did have a booking. No-one was at the counter. The staff member was working the bar and front of house

The food was fantastic as was the waiting staff the only thing I did not like being placed near the entrance on a very cold day and right close to the bar where people were knocking me as the were trying to get to the bar and getting by, now this is not your fault but there was another guest who had hos back while waiting to be seated to me and was passing wind while I was trying to eat not a nice experience

Table booked for 2.30. 2.50 and no one had come to explain table would be late. Eventually sat. Went up to get carvery, sullen carving staff, not a good look. Meat didn't look very good. Veg looked tired. No sauces, staff not checked. On eating the meat, beef was very chewy, lamb was dry. Overall really disappointed. Staff generally were not very happy or enthusiastic.

We were welcomed as we entered . The young lady showed us to our table. We were asked quickly what drinks we wanted and got them quickly. Asked about allergies etc then told to go for roast when we were ready. Food was served quickly with small queue and friendly chefs. Food was plentiful, hot and tasty. After that asked if wanted dessert or more drinks or coffee. We had cheesecake which was lovely and coffee. The bill was dispatched quickly when we asked for it . All staff especially our waitress Molly were friendly, helpful and informative. Very pleasant Sunday lunch .

Food was awful cold and tasteless would not go back

The food is always good. I was really disappointed with the service we received today. I had booked for 5:50pm for 3 guests, myself, my sister and her son. The booking explicitly said we would require a high chair. We arrived and because we had a push chair, we were told to sit in the bar instead of restaurant. I said no and asked them to find us a table because we had booked. They did and we sat on an unprepared table, which was fine. But it took over half an hour for someone to bring us a high chair after making the supervisor aware when they seated us, and our server aware. We had to ask a server from a different section in the end. We waited a further 10 minutes for cutlery before we could get our carvery otherwise we’d have had to wait with the food going cold. Our server seemed very inattentive to us, taking ages to take our plates and ask for our desert order. But they were stopping other customers for a chat and asking where they got outfits etc… we ended up being there for 2 hours and 20 minutes which felt like a very long time especially with a small child. We waited for 15 minutes after finishing the deserts and the server didn’t come back to us so we ended up going up to the bar and then paying there. I told the supervisor that I was disappointed with the service and the length of time it took for the server to come back and bring forks or a high chair. They advised that this was due to a promotion being on so it was really busy. I could except this if everyone else was also experiencing delays, but they were not. I’m sure most people dining were leaving after an hour, not 2. Very disappointed with the whole evening.

Food was good. But the customer service by Toby was non existent. There was a problem with my delivery details. I called Toby 7 times Not one call answered. Good job the delivery driver contacted me for the relevant details he needed.

Food was ok. We sent pigs in blankets back and molly sorted it straight away. Brilliant server. Toby food has really gone down hill. The cauliflower cheese didn’t taste like cheese at all and the macaroni cheese looked like it had been sat there a long time. And the yorkshires were like cardboard. All in all great service but not very good food.

We went to the carvery today around dinner time. It wasn't busy at all with no queues. The food was cold and stale. The kitchen manager tested the temperature of the food and said it was fine apart from the mash. The mash had a stale skin on it. The roast pots were leathery and tasted vile. The only thing that was nice was the Yorkshire pudding, the meat and the beans. They did let me get my dinner again and they gave me hot gravy but it still didn't taste nice at all

My partner and I had a delicious carvery today. We were very happy with our meals - the meat was cooked just right and there were a lot of choices of vegetables and potatoes. We were served by Wes who was a very pleasant and attentive guy. It's certainly a hard job dealing with a variety of customers, some who can be difficult at times, but Wes copes well, he provides excellent customer service, he's a credit to Toby Carvery. It's the third time in the past three weeks that we've visited Toby Carvery and it won't be long before we are back again!

Fantastic experience. Our waitress was Molly who really took the time to listen to our requirements. She was very well mannered and well presented. Her hair was very neat and tidy and well dressed. We couldn't have asked for much more. First class employee.

Turned up this evening about 7pm ish car park appeared quite busy fior a Friday night but as its the last night to use the 50% off vouchers we was not surprised . On entering, the bar had a few people waiting to be served we stood waiting to be shown to a table we waited around 10 mins to be then told only bar table area available which was fine for us but there was alot of pots/glasses on most of the tables plus on the bar itself. We found a table with no pots on (there was only 2 of us) but I had to clean it with the spray and cloth that was on the bar as it was dirty. Beef was very fatty and a bit tough. But the guy who was carving was friendly and welcoming. There only appeared to be 1 staff member sering on the bar as well as seating/managing front desk plus 2 other waitresses on which I'm surprised seeing as its a Friday and last day to use the vouchers this probably explains why the place was in a bit of a mess ! Please sort your staffing levels out it's not fair on those working tonight who had to take alot of moans/complaining about the state of the place. I even heard one of the waitresses say she doesn't get paid enough to take this abuse and she's only trying to do her job the best she can (under the circumstances I totally agree)

Called in at 6pm on a thurs, waited at the desk for 10 mins without an acknowledgement, walked to the bar to ask if we need to wait to be served, told abruptly 'ill be there in a minute'....by this time 8 or 9 people were behind me....when she walked over she then said 'sorry im not doing any more tables tonight'.......6pm, thursday, early january and they couldnt accom a table of 2. Wasted 15 mins to be told that. I hope they were simply understaffed as the attitude was poor

Me and my family booked for Christmas day and were very dissapointed from start to finish it was a shambles to be told she had only got 6 meals and not 7, we then had to wait for one starter and one pudding to come out and the rest had already eaten so they were sat eating on their own, there was a mix up with the starter which wasn't made clear and we had specifically asked for some nicer bread in place of the children starter to be given some rubbish thin wholemeal bread. One had the cheese platter which was dry on the outside and soft on the inside and was not edible! I followed this up after and was told that it was the mistake of Toby's who said that they would speak to the kitchen staff etc and that was it. At £59.00 per head for adults and £29.99 for children this was very poor. The only good thing about it was the amazing Christmas dinner which was 10/10. I would not book here again for Christmas dinner.

Food 4*s - potatoes a bit lumpy and some of the food dried out from being sat there too long but overall as expected. Great value as they had 50% off. Was a disappointment with the staff though and was waiting ages to pay. Even asked for them to say ‘Someone else will be with you in a minute’ pointed to someone else but then 15 minutes later they other person asked if I was ready to pay.

The beef and the Lamb was actually not edible with how fatty and grissly the portion of meat came. I also kindly asked if horseradish sauce could be added and there was none - was ordered on a weekday around 2pm

We visited for a Sunday carvery, where the portions were self-serve, allowing you to take as much or as little as you wanted. Despite this, the food didn’t feel worth the £40 we paid for two small plates and two drinks. The quality was average at best, and the price didn’t reflect the overall experience. Service was fine, but it wasn’t good value for money.

Wes looked after our table and was extremely friendly and efficient, lovely guy. Patricia who was behind the food counter (which was well presented )was really lovely and the Turkey was beautiful.

First of all, it's about time you invested in some new dinner plates ( I've thrown out better than those). The food was nice enough but only lukewarm. I appreciate it must be difficult to keep everything hot but this was unacceptable. The staff were nowhere to be seen after we were served. Very poor service!!

The food was great, our table was ready and waiting and the lady serving our table was very nice. The carvery food was good quality and we were served straight away when we went to the Carvery. One of the table ordered a sweet, unfortunately this took an exceptionally long to arrive as the lady who was serving our table had to deal with take away orders. Personally I feel that there should be a person employed solely to deal with the Take Away food.
