We seem to go quite regularly and we enjoyed the food was brilliant once again

Fantastic experience. Our waitress was Molly who really took the time to listen to our requirements. She was very well mannered and well presented. Her hair was very neat and tidy and well dressed. We couldn't have asked for much more. First class employee.

Great carvery, choice and service.

My partner and I had a delicious carvery today. We were very happy with our meals - the meat was cooked just right and there were a lot of choices of vegetables and potatoes. We were served by Wes who was a very pleasant and attentive guy. It's certainly a hard job dealing with a variety of customers, some who can be difficult at times, but Wes copes well, he provides excellent customer service, he's a credit to Toby Carvery. It's the third time in the past three weeks that we've visited Toby Carvery and it won't be long before we are back again!

Service from Deana was amazing, was fast and constant, she was making sure we was okay and the food was great as well the carver was lovely and polite. And Molly seating us from the host point.

Turned up this evening about 7pm ish car park appeared quite busy fior a Friday night but as its the last night to use the 50% off vouchers we was not surprised . On entering, the bar had a few people waiting to be served we stood waiting to be shown to a table we waited around 10 mins to be then told only bar table area available which was fine for us but there was alot of pots/glasses on most of the tables plus on the bar itself. We found a table with no pots on (there was only 2 of us) but I had to clean it with the spray and cloth that was on the bar as it was dirty. Beef was very fatty and a bit tough. But the guy who was carving was friendly and welcoming. There only appeared to be 1 staff member sering on the bar as well as seating/managing front desk plus 2 other waitresses on which I'm surprised seeing as its a Friday and last day to use the vouchers this probably explains why the place was in a bit of a mess ! Please sort your staffing levels out it's not fair on those working tonight who had to take alot of moans/complaining about the state of the place. I even heard one of the waitresses say she doesn't get paid enough to take this abuse and she's only trying to do her job the best she can (under the circumstances I totally agree)

Called in at 6pm on a thurs, waited at the desk for 10 mins without an acknowledgement, walked to the bar to ask if we need to wait to be served, told abruptly 'ill be there in a minute'....by this time 8 or 9 people were behind me....when she walked over she then said 'sorry im not doing any more tables tonight'.......6pm, thursday, early january and they couldnt accom a table of 2. Wasted 15 mins to be told that. I hope they were simply understaffed as the attitude was poor

Me and my family booked for Christmas day and were very dissapointed from start to finish it was a shambles to be told she had only got 6 meals and not 7, we then had to wait for one starter and one pudding to come out and the rest had already eaten so they were sat eating on their own, there was a mix up with the starter which wasn't made clear and we had specifically asked for some nicer bread in place of the children starter to be given some rubbish thin wholemeal bread. One had the cheese platter which was dry on the outside and soft on the inside and was not edible! I followed this up after and was told that it was the mistake of Toby's who said that they would speak to the kitchen staff etc and that was it. At £59.00 per head for adults and £29.99 for children this was very poor. The only good thing about it was the amazing Christmas dinner which was 10/10. I would not book here again for Christmas dinner.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Very nice meal, very well looked after by Nicola will definitely be back soon.

Food 4*s - potatoes a bit lumpy and some of the food dried out from being sat there too long but overall as expected. Great value as they had 50% off. Was a disappointment with the staff though and was waiting ages to pay. Even asked for them to say ‘Someone else will be with you in a minute’ pointed to someone else but then 15 minutes later they other person asked if I was ready to pay.

We visited for a Sunday carvery, where the portions were self-serve, allowing you to take as much or as little as you wanted. Despite this, the food didn’t feel worth the £40 we paid for two small plates and two drinks. The quality was average at best, and the price didn’t reflect the overall experience. Service was fine, but it wasn’t good value for money.

Wes looked after our table and was extremely friendly and efficient, lovely guy. Patricia who was behind the food counter (which was well presented )was really lovely and the Turkey was beautiful.

First of all, it's about time you invested in some new dinner plates ( I've thrown out better than those). The food was nice enough but only lukewarm. I appreciate it must be difficult to keep everything hot but this was unacceptable. The staff were nowhere to be seen after we were served. Very poor service!!

best carvery dinner ever!! everything was perfect we added on pigs in blankets they were that good we had a second portion, our waitress nicola couldn’t do enough for us and we did have a giggle she seems very popular with the guests, merry xmas to you all we will be back in the new year for sure 👍🏻

The food was great, our table was ready and waiting and the lady serving our table was very nice. The carvery food was good quality and we were served straight away when we went to the Carvery. One of the table ordered a sweet, unfortunately this took an exceptionally long to arrive as the lady who was serving our table had to deal with take away orders. Personally I feel that there should be a person employed solely to deal with the Take Away food.

It was a lovely dinner, not much else to say but it gets busy quick at noon on a Saturday, but that's expected. Worth a visit.

We came for our Christmas dinner today, what an outstanding service. Big shout out to Molly who was terrific and made our experience extra special. Was shocked to hear this was mollys first Christmas service, she was fantastic so pleasant and thoughtful and she was right on queue everytime on our starters mains and pudding. The chefs on carvery were so lovely and pleasant. Overall we have loved this Christmas and travelled from mansfield, we would definitely come here again and want to book for next year. Thankyou so much to Molly and all the team at Colwick carvery. A merry Christmas to you all x

Booked and paid for Christmas Day dinner for 4 months in advance for 2pm, arrived at 1:50 to be told to sit and wait to be called, loads of people came in afterwards and were sat down straight away, we asked several times if our table was ready to be told we would have to wait, still people coming in who had booked for 3pm and taken straight to a table, when I asked again just after 3 the lady at the desk was very rude asked us to wait again and accused me of shouting at her! In the end the bar staff fetched the manager and she apologised, we got a refund as we would not have had time to eat as we had to be somewhere else. Completely ruined our Christmas Day experience, Do not book this place at Christmas the staff do not know what they are doing and are completely out of their depth.

Arrived at 1:45 for a 14:00 Christmas dinner for 4, was told to wait and get a drink, by 15:00 we had asked about 4 times if table was ready as people were arriving and being seated straight away, we were told to wait again, until finally we were told no table but could take food with us, managed to get a refund. DO NOT BOOK XMAS MEAL HERE, ruined our Christmas experience

just had Xmas dinner here, had a lovely meal, loads of meat, good potatoes, good service. nice and warm in restaurant too.

Came for breakfast with Santa so paid above the odds for 2 kids breakfasts. The Santa made no effort at all to be Santa like. Our kids were immediately sceptical of the set up and the bulging pillow in his top was obvious. No attempt at Christmas magic whatsoever. The food was appalling when we first went up every plate was dirty with food and hair on and we had to wait for them to bring new ones out which were also dirty so we had to wipe them with tissues ourselves. The food was sparse to say the least, only 1 yorkie between us, no black pudding, no hashbrowns; a bowl filled with bean juice but no beans, no bread and no butter. What they did have was poor quality and poorly cooked, the eggs were slimey the bacon was gritty and everything was so greasy there was literally a pool on the bottom off the plate.

The food was plentiful, good and tasty.. The server Nicola was very courteous and efficient.. All in all, it was a pleasant experience

This place is appalling. I visited this place with my friends on a Sunday evening and felt out place in this restaurant. Whilst we were there, a female member of staff shouted to her colleague “Are they ready to pay?” whilst my friends and i were sat having a conversation. I am unsure whether this racially motivated or if they just wanted us to get out of the restaurant, however we wasted no time and immediately left. When asking for the bill, there was an increase in the total which we investigated, the staff provided us with takeaway boxes without explaining to us that this would be an extra cost, considering the fact that we are university students this would’ve been something helpful to mention. Overall, the experience was very uncomfortable, the staff did not seem as though they wanted to serve us (3 black girls).

Food, staff atmosphere 10/10 The meat was very juicy and the veg, very lovely, hot and fresh exactly how you’d want your roast. Will definitely be coming back specially for the mac and cheese a personal favourite of mine 😋. Would highly recommend.

Book a table for 3 pm waited 40 minutes to be seated we had to ask how long we would wait and the man said we call your name which was bullshit, not only that my ten year old and my 15 year old-was given a adult plate so they could charge them adult price which was absolutely maddness the place are rip offs stay clear plus the meat was fatty and cold

Food ok for the price, but the staff is rude. She got my starter, putting it down and saying, "we don't have cucumber but you get more bread instead." Well, thx for letting me know in advance and giving me a choice...I didn't complain but I think it was obvious I didn't like this way of serving. So probably she got offended. I said good bye at the end...completely been ignored. It's a bit pathetic in my opinion. I give 3 because I don't want to ruin everybody's effort who works there...

absolutely discusted with order. put together in one small bowl and looks like a heap of waste. tiny amount of gravy. Hardly any meat, & as for gammon it was a slither of pure fat. stuffing look completly un cooked. And all of the food is stone cold including the dessert. I truly am appalled. So upset at wasting so much money.

We hadn't been here for ages, so called in as we were in the area. The place looks a bit shabby, could do with a proper clean. The waitress took our drinks order before we'd even taken our coats off or sat down. There was a queue of 9 people for the carvery - the server had gone to the kitchen, so we all stood there for several minutes. I must say, he was certainly skilled with a knife - I didn't know it was possible to slice meat so thinly (slightly thinner and it would have been possible to see through it). The carrots looked (and tasted) old. The roast potatoes were soggy, and the gravy was thin. Overall, the whole meal was barely even lukewarm. We won't be bothering to go again.

After waiting 10 minutes to be served then told us we had to sit bar side of the restaurant, the manger was swearing and shouting in front of customers. Snail speed service, I witnessed two groups walk out before they where served. There were dirty dishes sat on the table across from us the whole duration of the visit . Needs a good dusting round the restaurant , as a whole unimpressed.

Went for Breakfast to find all the things that really set Toby apart from others weren't available. No Potato hash, no Yorkshire with bacon and onion bits, no breakfast gravy, sad state of affairs.

Waited 5 mins to be seated with no acknowledgement even though there was someone serving on bar and pub seemed virtually empty just to be told to sit anywhere. Manager was clearly not happy as he was shouting across the bar how he’s calling in sick tomorrow and was being super loud and throwing bottles in the bin. Not one smile from the 2 front or house staff we saw. Witnessed two sets of customers walking out and people waiting ages to be seated, to which the manager shouted I can’t be everywhere at once and stormed back into the kitchen.The vibes in general from staff were just moody and my partners meat was super fatty and there were flies on the roof near the carvery and dirty plates on tables next to us for the duration of our visit. Although the other reviews seem good, today there just seemed to a complete lack of cleanliness, staff morale and management. Wont be coming back again.

Second time I have ordered from Toby and second time they got the order wrong. This time missing a selected meat.

Came in Saturday early evening for dinner with friends. Our server Pearce was excellent. Very friendly. He made sure that we were happy with everything and kept checking on us to make sure everything was still ok. Jack, the carver, was also very friendly and explained the problem of no lamb being available at the time we went for our dinner. Because we would have to wait another 20-30 minutes for it, he made sure that we got some once it was ready. Excellent service. Will definitely return.

Came on a Saturday Afternoon. The best Toby I've ever been to.. Very clean, hot fresh food, great staff and service by Tia & Jack. Tables nicely spaced out so customers are not on top of each other.

Clean tidy and relaxed. Food hot and plenty of options on the meat and veg front. Polite carver (Jack) and front of house staff (Tia). Came on a Saturday lunchtime. Value for money will be back next time we fancy a carvery.

Went today Sunday carvery. Very busy and hot in there. Was sat by the door which had been left open so we had the full draft. Server was rude and didn’t explain how to order and gave a dirty look when I asked if I should go to the bar to order. Glasses give to us were dirty so my daughter expressed this and again was given a dirty look. Food was average, meat fatty, stuffing tasteless. Won’t go again in a hurry!

We turned up on spec, no booking made and we're sealed quickly, and served by the brilliant MOLLY, who knows her stuff. The food was great and was piled high Damn those big serving spoons. Will defo go again .well done team well done MOLLY.
